"In other news, a local man known as Corporal Kelley has been rescued after being lost in the woods. Rescue teams report he was found living in a 7 bedroom, 4 bathroom cabin, complete with running water and satellite TV that he had completely constructed by hand by himself, with nothing but a folding handsaw and some bacon. He was reported going into the woods in which he went missing just 7 days ago. When asked how he constructed such an elaborate shelter in such a short amount of time, especially with the bad weather recently experienced, he simply stated 'I mean if it ain't raining, we ain't training.'"

A tornado in March, then a pandemic, then riots and protests of people telling you how bad you suck, and now a LVIED in our downtown. Well it appears some friends and I are heading out for our second winter camping adventure. We used many of the things you have shown including knowing how to start wet wood and how to use tarps. It has been over 2O years since I had done wilderness camping. Thx for the videos.
Hi Shawn.,. Enjoyed the video brother!.... The shelter is awesome!...Really liked the monologue near the ending...What you stated was exactly true in my mind!....Godspeed!

Hi there Mr Corporal I turn in every week to watch the next video, yes your builds are getting badass better bigger and now fire inside that’s A.F outstanding, I liked the video that your son and you both made with the bunkbeds in it. Could you would you make the same bunkbed in a fort with a fireplace inside combine those two videos together to make one outstanding AF fort for the winner that would be awesome to see you and your son to build something like that thanks again Mr. Corporal thanks for all your outstanding efforts and showing us this awesome technique of building shelters and surviving be safe out there best of wishes.
Outstanding Video Corporal, my wife is a great cook, now when she creates something delicious, she'll say its good AF, and I start laughing. From one Veteran to Another, keep up the good work.
Rewatching this series!! Awesome stuff, Brother. For what it’s worth, from a nobody, I’m super proud of you and all that you’re doing to reach and teach so many people, WORLDWIDE!!! Keep on fighting the good fight! 🇺🇸💪🏼
I can’t just pass this by. I have two daughters... I am thankful. I can’t say a thing that will help you. Only know that as another human on this planet... The Air Force says “Blue Skies.” In the Army, we play taps. ua-cam.com/video/x9xNoEu3O8c/v-deo.html
Colorado says it’s cold here and time for training. Your video perfect timing, got all my young men hooked on military training. The spirit of excellence and always room for improving everything in our lives as always keep up the outstanding work. Keep moving forward as always soldier thank you so much for reaffirming all that I have showed my young men how to live and survive
That's a very neatly built shelter! I built my first one today and it was far from outstanding! I made the mistake of not going to your amazon influencer page so I had many bin liners instead of a tarp and they blew away in the middle of the night! Attempt 2 will be better. Edit: typo, many bin liners not man bin liners.
Add the hot embers to the rocks in the shelter, and it will stay warm longer. If you worry about burning, you could cover it with some dirt, and still get the same effect.
Thanks so much for making these videos! The style and technique are so soothing to watch. Any time the news triggers anxiety attacks, I can watch these and feel just a little safer. 💕
As far as the rocks go. I am glad to see people using them. I was taught no fires should ever be built straight on the ground. As the roots could potentially catch fire, and you could start a forest fire that way. So we always had to do the rock hunt for our fire pits. lol.
Inspiring words brother. Proud to know there are patriots like you that love the country and want the best for it and the rest of us. Enjoy and appreciate your channel. Just one question. And that is will you be going back to make the clay fireplace in the Bushcraft shack? Thanks again, I anticipate your videos every Sunday.
Enjoy your stuff, my 8 year old loves it and its a great source of inspiriation. I have a suggestion... how about making an ebook with illustrated ideas for bushcraft shelters, cooking, basic survival? I think it would go really well.
I Love this- I've done fun forts as a kid- at home with my kids & now my granddaughters- built forts in the living room for fun & give them a lil fun know how. I now live in the countryish-nothing like you- I've always said You need to know how to live off the land when this world hits the fan.. So Gracias for your wonderful videos- so do able even for me a 67yr old woman with body issues.. Thank You🙏🙏 Looking forward to more videos☺
Merry Christmas to you and Medium Man! Looking forward to seeing more awesome videos next year! Thank you for all your videos. They really helped me get through this horrible year💖💖💖💖
Very impressed that you went even further today and created a "bow/drill." Way to go the distance as always. I saw that and thought, screw that get the lighter. LOL Seriously though, I get the best weekly meals from this show. That burger AMAZING "AF!" Question, and forgive me if this gets asked a lot, but have you ever thought about showing your, bloopers; or shall we call them; "SON OF A B--CH! Now I have to start over?" Sometimes, I think people get frustrated because you make it look so easy. Granted, you always say, "Get out in the woods and hone your skills." Can't agree more. I just think seeing the "SOBs" people will know how to problem solve even more making it MORE enjoyable. Way to be a leader. Thank you and may you and all your Subs, new and old have an amazing 2021.
Didn't know there was a Part 2 to this shelter but found it and watched immediately. I apply many of your building methods and techniques to the building of our hunting blinds and they are rock solid. I am a Vietnam Navy veteran and was never a knot guy but have picked some from you and also acquired some rolls of bankline. Best cordage around for the money. Thanks Corp. Great final thoughts also.
Glad to have gotten the notification this video is out. Sounds like others did too. Fingers crossed your videos continue with this positive distribution. So awesome to hear those great temperatures. Looking forward to seeing the door. I love the structure, it is quite sound. If this is the taste of 2021, I look forward to everything else coming up! Cheers and Happy New Year!
Shawn, entertaining as always. Your video release has become a weekly pilgrimage for my young lass and I, whether we FaceTime and watch together while she is at her mom's or even better, when she is with me and we cook up some bacon and watch the adventure together. Regardless, is has been something we both very much look forward to each week. Who would have thought my 14 year old daughter would get excited to get a Mora carbon and a pathfinder Ferro rod in her stocking lol, or she would search out bank line for mine. A merry Christmas to you and the young lad, and a happy New Year, let's hope, along with new adventures, the new year brings a little more "right" in the world as well. Keep safe and play on.......
I have been watching many of your videos the past few days, I already accomplished the fire you taught me how to make, this Monday and Tuesday I am going to make my first shelter i can't wait that is all I keep thinking about, thanks for the great informational videos! My father is a military veteran also he taught me many things he reminds me of you in many ways
Excellent video to finish out 2020 with this outstanding emergency shelter build. Thank you for sharing all your survival skills, and showing how to really enjoy the outdoors. Hope you had a great Xmas, & a Happy New Year.
Dude...watching your videos , i have to run to kitchen all 10 minutes to get some food...sitting infront of the screen like a begging dog to get a bite ... nice shelters !
If I can recommend something can you get empty 2 or 3 large ammo fill them with hot rocks and place them near where you sleep so it will keep it warm longer through out any night especially during cold winter months when you do your videos.
Thank you for sharing your camp with us-even though we did not help LOL it was fun watching you our temps here are dropping we got down to 10F it goes up a little in daytime but drops way down at night your camp looks like your camp will keep you warm all night especially when you fill in the side and put door on OUTSTANDING VIDEO HAPPY NEW YEAR'S hoping the new year better than this year has been KIDS-back in school full time, peoplehaving jobs and not staying home, being able to travel without worrying about LOCKDOWN or masks, or having 6' distance, being able to see and hug family members while on vacation, etc God Bless you
Hello Shawn, In one of your videos you showed holding a stick and rubbing the top of the stick with your thumb it started on fire below the stick. Would you consider showing us how you did that illusion? You also need to consider showing more about your cooking. How you prepare you food. How you pack and carry the food. Times for cooking. Cleaning up after cooking. etc. Thanks for considering my requests. Enjoy this beautiful day.
Hey Corp, you helped make 2020 a better year. I so look forward to what you are going to build next. I love them all and I REALLY like this one so far. Cool AF. Hope you had a great Christmas and you and junior have a great New Year. I'm sure you hate hearing it but I used to tell my younger Brother to stop eating so much junk. He passed at 69 I am 85. I'm sure You understand! Cheers, E-5 Combat Engineer.
Corporal Kelly: "I'm eating better to get ready for the Himalayas." Corporal Kelly: cooks western bacon cheeseburger. Just teasing man! I'm sitting here eating chicken wings from the comfort of my recliner while watching you get out and do stuff. Carry on, Corporal.
There is a lot of cover there. I dont know for sure but I would assume he would build it in a clearing or alongside a trail/water way if he wanted to be seen. In a well covered area he can film this and build the shelter without "crying wolf"
Corporal, I’m one in a valley of noise. So if you don’t get to this, no harm done. First, thanks for your service to the country. I was a ground pounder in the Signal Corps. I REALLY appreciate your adding a recipe with each of your posts (when you do). I’ve recently been diagnosed Type 2 diabetic, and most of the food you make has “removable carbs” and still tastes good. So I get a little bit of “normal” back. I’d like to offer something to you if it would ever help. I’m a comms guy. Not only by training, but by choice. I’ve shot through LEO satellites using a 5 watt hand held radio. I’m an Amateur Radio Operator, a Security Architect, I’ve attacked networks and systems, and have taught people to lie cheat and steal... honestly. If I can ever provide you assistance, answers to questions, ideas for comms in the field or any other related service, you have but to ask. I would be happy to square my debt to you with training, equipment (potentially depends on finances), and or a beer or two (unless your a bourbon guy, then we really have a party). Or, if you are a milk/coke/some other thing, I’d be happy to buy a round of that. I wish you well in 2021, and thank you for providing firm footing while out in the reality we called 2020.
Solid! GPR Freq Specialist here, NDT Lvl III Insp. ASNC. I can operate 2600mhz to 10mhz for internal inspection of most materials, Geophysical, geographic and geotechnical...I'm the guy who looks inside the earth up to 2000 ft, I've seen some shit...
It's another Corporal Sunday. You continue to inspire. Thank You. You have inspired the wife and I both. We have purchased backpacks and gear to start going out in the back woods. Have a great week and a great New Year.
Dig the pit all the way across the length of the shelter, then cover the top with some flat stones (if you have/can find them...) creating a tunnel. Build a chimney at the back and have a fire at the front - basically making a long Rocket stove/Dakota firepit type contraption.
You might be able to hinge the XXX panel at the top to act as a door. That way both end walls could be made without the gap for the doors. The shelter would be a lot tighter and warmer if need be.
I'm getting much smarter now,,,,,I eat before I EVEN THINK about watching you latest segment,,,LOL!!! I have no idea where your located , but I have a decent size piece of mountain woodland property here in VT you and your son would be more than welcome to film on and build shelters as I have a ton of materials lying around for your use that I need to clear anyway to reliese my healty trees making a much healthier forest in the long run. There's great views, water sources and access to all the materials ,locations and different types of terrain you'd ever want. If convienient or of intrest to you, just comment to my post and I'll send contact info. Mingo out,,,from the,,High Mountain Homestead.
Imagine how many people you could get in spring to come up and help clear if you trade three days of stay for three days of work. It would be a week for father sons/ father daughters, they could clear the land for three days, then use what they cleared for practice, then remove the rest/place it in designated area. You’d be trading work for stay at a nice, safe location.
@@EverettVinzant Though this sounds like a good idea in theory and agree what a nice thing it would be for folks,I wouldn't really want a ton of people roaming about, honestly. Especially in this day with people being so sue crazy. Someone like the Corporal and his son would be more than welcome and I've also considered talking to local Scout leaders to see if they would like to do a camping/bush-craft event here once or twice a year as well. The sentiment of doing a good deed like that gives me a warm fuzzy feeling too, and agree it would be a wonderful thing to do for folks. But I'm just afraid of being to nice about access and having to be a Dick later on when folks took advantage. You and I both know this could and probably would happen. Unfortunately,,, I love my privacy,, peace & quite and working in the forest and why I bought this remote place to start with. Access here would have to be limited to ,,, a select very few.
@@twa2471 Sadly... I see your point. Although, you have given me an idea of sorts for something else. A way to solve the problems you mention... Thanks.
@@EverettVinzant Good for you, I hope you've got a plan peculating, and hope your in a position to do something nice for folks too. I'll have to stick to offering opportunities to just folks like the Corporal and local Scouts though as I've only got a bit over 20 remote acres way up in the hills. But a opportunitie I will still offer up to some though.
I saw a REALLY cool firestarting trick from Greg Owens where he took punky wood, ground it into a powder, filled the metal cavity of a dead bic lighter, and used the sparks to make it start burning. Probably the coolest way I have ever seen to start a fire. Haven't tested it yet, but I will once my lighter goes out.
Between all the Star Wars references, mandalorian patches, marvel movie quotes and Fallout tribute, I’m starting to think you’re a bit of a nerd! Which is awesome. Thank you for all your hard work!

I watch shows like this all the time. First person to use common sense on a mallet. Love it!
Like that field expedient whacker!
Just curious, has anyone ever seen one of your “emergancy camp” setups and come running to save you? 😂😂
Hello Shawn,
In one of your videos you showed holding a stick and rubbing the top of the stick with your thumb it started on fire below the stick. Would you consider showing us how you did that illusion? You also need to consider showing more about your cooking. How you prepare you food. How you pack and carry the food. Times for cooking. Cleaning up after cooking. etc. Thanks for considering my requests. Enjoy this beautiful day.
We wish you a crispy bacon,
we wish you a crispy bacon,
we wish you a crispy bacon,
AND A HAPPY NEW BEER!!!
What an inspiring speech.
The corporal could have built a 3 story cabin by now lol.
but would it be circulated by YT?
That would be dope AF
Probably already did...I know i would keep my special projects secret
It's so cool how you can do so much with so little. Thanks
Cheers,
E-5 Combat Engineer.
Another great year of your teachings, Thanks!!!
Hey, healthy diet is important! Hell, I gave up drinking; Now I only sip.
Corporal America!! Nice speech at the end bro. U r THE man.
You should print a recipe book called emergency bacon infused cook book
Wow.! That burger looks amazing.!!
Keep up the great content. I really appreciate you .
How about a tree house in 2021, i think it will be challenging and outstanding AF.
I’d definitely get behind that video
Cpl. Kelly....TRULY OUTSTANDING what you did to the fort !.....your America's secret weapon !.....thank you for the teaching master yoda.....God Bless
Corporal Kelly: "I'm eating better to get ready for the Himalayas."
Corporal Kelly: cooks western bacon cheeseburger.
Just teasing man! I'm sitting here eating chicken wings from the comfort of my recliner while watching you get out and do stuff. Carry on, Corporal.
this was covered in the video
Well he didn't overcook the bacon this time! And the burger was still a little pink meaning he got the best from the bison! Can't moan at that eh?
Cheat day😁
You have done it again love what you are doing I have learned a lot about Bush craft from you and your chanel
"The toxic soup of UA-cam..." never better said.
if you don't have a YT contract then you are nobody. Thanks for watching
You've got mad skills. You're an inspiration.
Damn fine speech.
Sitting here watching you, I am thinking those contestants on “Alone” might benefit from watching some of these survival shelters you build.
Aren't you worried someone is going to see that tarp with the X's and come to rescue the little boy who cried "wolf!"?
There is a lot of cover there. I dont know for sure but I would assume he would build it in a clearing or alongside a trail/water way if he wanted to be seen. In a well covered area he can film this and build the shelter without "crying wolf"
Love it every time you just exceed yourself a true teacher awesome as always.
What is that Burn Indicator about?
To show the rock temperature
I am really enjoying the videos, taken my survival skills to another level. Thanks Corporal
Sees burger, ( pause) eats burger ( play) watch video
Loving this with my 5 and 7 year old boys. 🤜
Roughen it is the only thing that makes a real man happy ....If he has enough bourbon !😅😅😅
It's another Corporal Sunday. You continue to inspire. Thank You. You have inspired the wife and I both. We have purchased backpacks and gear to start going out in the back woods. Have a great week and a great New Year.
15:40 definitely a flex for the ladies 😉
Dig the pit all the way across the length of the shelter, then cover the top with some flat stones (if you have/can find them...) creating a tunnel. Build a chimney at the back and have a fire at the front - basically making a long Rocket stove/Dakota firepit type contraption.
anyone know if he's made a video showing what type of lashing knot he uses or the name of it? TIA
He's using a Canadian hitch with an overhand jam knot behind it, AKA an arbor knot.
@@askewedchimp Thank you!
@@marc-andrepetrin3314 very welcome.
Honestly I love that good cup of joe at the end.
I think the Corporal has a crush on a Modern Witchdoctor. I think he wants to taste her edibles. ❤️
I want small channels to be successful
@@recall5811 then you should subscribe to mine. 😂
You might be able to hinge the XXX panel at the top to act as a door. That way both end walls could be made without the gap for the doors. The shelter would be a lot tighter and warmer if need be.
I’m still waiting for the real Ewok village
Sheesh hes only one man, give him at least a month, it's nearly complete
Merry Christmas and a Happy New year corporal. Thanks for the videos.
@@EverettVinzant I never thought of it that way actually, just as a way for someone
Unfortunately,,,
I love my privacy,, peace & quite and working in the forest and why I bought this remote place to start with.
And you didn't toast the buns? How uncivilized is that?
Between all the Star Wars references, mandalorian patches, marvel movie quotes and Fallout tribute, I’m starting to think you’re a bit of a nerd! Which is awesome. Thank you for all your hard work!
Awesome long term shelter. You definitely delivered some of the best vids in 2020, can’t wait to see what we get for 2021. When the real SHTF hits I’m heading to the CORNER,, Corporals Corner that is. God bless and stay safe Shawn.
Is that a Woobie Hoodie?
Where did you get that hoodie bro? Want one like that?
This dude not only a superb outdoorsman but one hell of a chef👍 i can literally smell and taste the grub😉
