ughh it baffles me how you accomplish so much in such little time.. I've only ever attended one Game Jam which was a weekend deal, and that was super fun but we had 4 people compared to your 1 and you arguably did as much/more than us haha.
Based on my experience, teams tend to actually get less done due to "too man cooks in the kitchen" where with one person you get to do what you want exactly as you want it. This can be great in getting things done but often makes the whole experience less fun, not to mention with one person you have to worry about your own bias towards liking something rather than when it was actually good. Personally I've only ever "won" game jams when working solo or with one other person who lacks the confidence to do anything other than what I assign them, but I would say every game jam I've done with a team has been a much more fun experience so long as you can avoid any drama.
And to the people watching, look how easy and fun this was for him! You may just now be learning and starting your game dev career, and it may feel slow, frustrating, and everything similar, but if you keep at it you can be this good, or better!
Ive been programming for about 4 years now and I still feel like this is very advanced for me.. I am 18 but jeez im impressed. I do also switch between languages though. Keep up the good work!
Dude you’ve outdone yourself!! Apart from the game itself which is an excellent idea that gave me a few chuckles, this video is edited so wonderfully, it was the perfect length, and the perfect amount of awesome to get me stoked to get back on the game dev train (once my laptop is back from the repair shop). Thank you thank you!! Much love!
@@Sonsho His character had an rigidbody on, that was probably moved using force or velocity change what allows rigidbody physics to work flawlessly, as you can see on the video. He just smashed his character with other collider and it made him go spinning. In this game's case, character spinning pointlessly is not intended so as RafaelRibeiro said, he just locked the Z rotation.
If you have ever seen a chef cut up a fish with really sharp knives in 4s into perfect slices... you understand how it is to what brackeys just make a game. I am in aw and inspired, thank you!
Some ideas: 1. After reaching a certain amount of points, you get a scarecrow to prevent crows from coming. 2. Water ha to be collected from a pond. 3. Add animal that you have too feed and collect for example milk and eggs from.
I have another suggestion: You should add it so you can grow a scarecrow, Just it has a limited life, and it has a time period between when you can grow it again.
The only thing I would add is a simple walk animation. The game looks incredibly good but once I realized the player is sliding everywhere I can't unsee it. Keep it up!
I think Mr Peanuthead farmer looks good. Its better than making a regular straw hat farmer. It could be iconic for your game. It is eye-catching and cute.
Dude your super inspiring and I really appreciate all the encouragement and knowledge that you share. I have started into Unity Indie game Development recently and you have been a major motivator to keep it up through the whole learning curve. Thanks!!!
lol I like how even a small and simple game takes a ton of effort. You made that in 4 days, and here I am spending hours just trying to figure out basic fundamentals of Unity.
fun game! in the discriptoion of the game it says "Mr. Peanut and his brother Mr. Pickle is taking over the farmily business." it should be "Mr. Peanut and his brother Mr. Pickle are taking over the farmily business."
Wow, amazing progress in just a few days! This could totally work as a phone co-op game. On screen joystick and button, Bluetooth local play both Android and iOS (I don't know how hard that is to implement), drop in multiplayer, scalable difficulty based on how many players are in the game.
Your last year Lundare participation was awesome and this year you once again made an awesome game. I don't know where you find all those idea but they are great :D
Greetings from Greece! Congrats on your videos! They are pretty fresh and understandable. We are a STEAM team in Greece and we try to spread game design and gamification in general to teens. Your videos are helpful and our students like them very much. PS: Our students suggest planting beans to get burgers.
Watching your videos I started playing with the idea of learning to develop videogames. Today, 4 months later, after some Udemy course and many of your tutorials, I have published my first mobile game, it has been a challenge, it is not amazing but I am extremely proud. Thanks for everything
"The relaxed atmosphere and cute graphics of games like Stardew Valley, or even Terraria." what do you mean by terraria nobody can think terraria is relaxing when they're fighting against a weird godlike squid human
It is very good to see this type of content and what it is possible to create in a few days but with a lot of effort. I'm trying to bring this kind of content into my channel, creating free packages and help others developers, hopefully one day I'll be able to produce the same quality as you. Continue like this, without that kind of incentive the community would be nothing. Thank you.
Your pixel art skills are NOT BAD! They're pretty decent. Especially when comparing it to mine! My TERRIBLE art is one of the things holding me back from finishing a game :(
i love your videos man you are the best:=) i love especialy that you show even failures so that everyone dont get the impressions that pros like you dont make errors and get demotivated or something:) so i hope your channel develops well and u have fun whit your videos
I wish I had done a format like this for my 7 day jam where I did my absolute best to implement mgs1 sneaking mechanics. Would have been fun to compile a video just like this one about it

But can you tell me which series of pokemon?
Love these devlogs! Keep it up! =D
*Mr. Peanut's brother, Mr. Pickle...* genius.
A fan of both of you! You inspired me to create devlogs as well. And also congratulations Sykoo on Unity :)

Having only 1 person also means you don't have to manage team dynamics. In game jams a lot of time often goes to waste on that in teams.
Based on my experience, teams tend to actually get less done due to "too man cooks in the kitchen" where with one person you get to do what you want exactly as you want it. On my first time trying to make a game I spent around 2 days just getting my character to walk
I like to imagine that this is taking place at the same time as Overcooked and that's how they get their ingredients so fast.
These are the type of videos I want to see, and not these "sponsered by Unity - here a cool asset thing". Please keep making this stuff Brackeys!
But the sponsored videos allow him to more comfortably make videos like this.
@@jmkyarrow Like once in 12 months? You're kidding
Hey brackeys are going to make beginner tutorials again? I mean with other type of games^^
Yes, an isometric Pixel style game would be a great idea. Like Hyperlight Drifter, Transistor.....
How does this not have more likes. I like many other people would love to see another tutorial series again!
@@WilliamDeLaVega gr8 info for beginners
Oof. It would take me 4 days to paint the pizza alone. And it would still look crap xD
Look at the bright side you can actually keep the crap and use it as a fertilizer which adds to the game experience

I love your channel dude!! I'm in high school right now and an aspiring game developer, and your videos are so helpful and inspiring. Keep it up!
I really love this “casually just made a game in a few days” kind of video. Keep it up.
I love your videos...it helps me relax and calm my mind when I am stresses...you voice just gets me into your videos....
Devlogs are fantastic. PLz make more of these. Beginners such as me get to know how professionals think and do while making a game .
Out of all I like brakeys most. Because they give the source code of most of the work which helps me out very much to learn new things

I'm glad I am not the only one that has considered a "personal" game jam!
I’ve fallen in love with your keyboard. Can you share the specific model?
man, this man can make better games in 4 days than I can in a month.
You should hold onto that "Mr. Peanut" IP.
I get so excited when I see these videos!!

*SCP 173 INTENSIFIES*
How do you fixed that problem shown at 3:44 ?
I think he freezed the rotation at Z.
RigidBody2D > Constraints > Freeze Rotation
You don't fix what's perfect.
@@philiphanhurst2655 lol
@@FaeeLRC I would assume Brackeys would never forget that, or is that something you tick only when you get that specific problem?
