I might be the second person that cares about merfolk (in any format?)! I started playing casual mtg with my friends, mostly draft/sealed/2hg when Dominaria came out. Then we dabbled in Brawl and ordered a few singles. Since then we've amassed a buttload of cards (with each new set) and we got into standard and now we're looking at commander. Since I deciced to play Kumena in standard, I wanted to make a Merfolk brawl deck. And now a Merfolk Commander deck. And lately I've been looking at Merfolk in Modern.. I find that Merfolk are kind of the underdog (underfish?) in Magic, and I like the way I can flood (heh) the board with scaly people and completely obliterate my opponent.. And since I only play to have fun (not to win) I enjoy playing Merfolk since it's always a different game! Your channel has been an excellent resource and I enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work!
@@kateslate3228 how does it "fight" fair decks? It's literally a card for fair decks. Look at the decks that use it in legacy: grixis control, Shardless BUG, grixis delver, etc. They're overwhelmingly fair decks that play the game as intended (mostly). Having a cheap answer that can stop most degenerate creatures, and replaces itself is exactly what fair decks want. Unfair decks aren't going to waste their turn two playing a card like this, because it doesnt do anything for them.
@@kennygallagher4700 What it does is make creatures like goyf, Shadow, Gurmag and the entirety of humans and bant spirits look silly. These are not the cards that fair decks need help against, in fact these are some of the best fair ways to fight unfair decks. Pushing these cards out of the format with a Strix reprint doesn't actually help fair decks, it discourages you from playing them.
@@utterlyj1277 the only fair thing you listed there was goyf, and goyf is played in Jund that has multiple answers to small threats. I think you're missing the point of strix. It's literally just a fair creature that fights other fair creatures. You're over evaluating to the point where you look stupid. Strix isnt gonna push jund out of the meta, strix won't kill jeskai control, it won't dominate Abzan. If anything, it just makes Grixis/Esper control slightly more favorable, which is exactly what we want. If grixis/esper get stronger, that's another FAIR deck being pushed the slightest bit more; grixis and esper in general does really well against unfair strategies while lacking a meaningful way to close out against midrange, this helps it out against jund and such just a little, while also helping it stabilize even better against unfair decks.
The way FoW is the proverbial "glue" of Legacy, I believe that reprinting Stifle in Horizons would make that card hold a similar position in Modern. It could allow for many unbannings as well.
@@SomeFreakingCactus glue to hold the format together, just like FoW in legacy. Would promote diversity and innovation in deckbuilding with Stifle as a built in safety valve
Don't know enough about modern to be logical or likely. So here some picks from when I played most. 1. Ernham Djinn 2. Armageddon (yes, I was that guy) 3. Grinning Totem - 2 colorless to tutor from your opponent's deck? 4. Kaervek's Torch - fireball with some counterspell counter play. 5. Knight of Dawn - the knight with a lightsaber that fears no color!!! Honorable mentions Land Tax, Library of Leng, and Empyerian Armor And yes, I play a lot of white.
You came here for 3:47 I personally expect Baleful Strix to be reprinted, but I really want Vindicate because Orzhov needs more support beside just Lingering Souls. Also, I'd love to see the various wishes see a printing.
0:50 I have a few of those, The invasion block deck which featured them was one of my first ones. I remember winning a tournament at my school with the prebuilt deck.
@@peewee130946 foil is not bad at all you can combine it with madness and some decks are to fast for many decks and reanimator deks also like the fact that you discard the card we already have mindbreak trap as a counter for sick turn 1 moves but the fact that you can be taped out and still hardcounter a single spell like through the breach and such is a good counter
hannes3d foil is awful in madness decks because you have to discard a island and you have to have a spell to counter that’s a dumb argument for foil. Only 1 deck can win on turn 2 and that’s grisholebrand and it rarely wins on turn 2
So glad I found this channel. New to Magic and I just want to play casual with my two young sons. So much great advice, well delivered with genuine concern for the game and the variety of player styles. Sadly I cannot afford to get into competition playing and collecting being a single income family but this channel has at least helped me see that I can have some great fun with my sons and friends without getting into the MTG finance struggle. There is just SO MUCH to getting into this game for newbies it is very difficult to know where to start. This is one of the very superior MTG channels out there. Thank you Prof. I love your style, humor and objective criticisms. Greatly appreciated. If anyone can advise some good beginner MTG channels that would be most welcome. Cheers
If you're on a budget, check out Battle Decks from Card Kingdom. Pauper is a great inexpensive format as well, but I find it quite skill-intensive and less kid-friendly.
1. Mother of Runes D&T, Zoo, Maveric, Deadguy, Soul Sisters, ... need a good one drop to protect important creatures they commit to the board. I like Devoted Caretaker as well but keeping up a white mana is a bit harder (but it would be an ok alternative I guess)
Thanks Prof! You inspired me to pick up Magic again after not having played for years and I've made so many wonderful friends doing it. You've indirectly improved my quality of life so much.
While I agree that there’s going to be a big blue counter in the set, my money is on Flusterstorm. It handles storm while also blocking vital cantrips/filters for Phoenix, and would be an excellent pick.
Phil Bergeman storm isn’t a problem for modern. Counterspell is the more logical choice, as it gives blue based control decks a leg to stand on in both the early and late game
Zephyr Nace-Beach it’s not banned, it was never legal in Modern to begin with. The card was originally printed in a commander set and received one paper reprint in iconic masters
As for 5 cards I would love to see: Astral Slide, I just think it could make for a fantastic Deck; Goblin Sharpshooter, give 8 whack some actual interaction and could make for a decent gobbo Deck; Pattern of Rebirth, Polymorph is a Deck that needs some love and switching the main color to green is what I think would be great for the deck; Necromancy, Reanimator Decks are one of my favorites but I think Animate Dead or Reanimate would be to strong for modern. Seaside Haven/High Market, this one needs explanation. I think that cards like Swans of Brynn Argol has some real possibility as a Deck and some safety in being able to sac as a land ability would be great... but what is really interesting to me for that deck is Serra who they already spoiled. Just after 1 turn of surviving she can ultimate and immediately if oath of teferi is on the board. Combine that with Swans who can't be dealt with by damage and you can lock out the game, I think there is a potentially strong control Deck with swans and this could help.
Professor don't worry, you are not the only one excited for legacy merfolk reprints ;D, i love you siggs riverguide deck in gameknights, and your advises abouts purchases and how to play with your head helps me since I started to play magic 2 years ago
I imagine Wizards will most likely reprint "fair" cards - no color pie breaks, no Cascade or Storm, no "free" spells. I'm imagining stuff like Ruination, Counterspell, Mother of Runes, Dack Fayden, Flame-Tongue Kavu, Dismiss, Deep Analysis, Living Death, Vindicate, Undermine, Living Death, Moment's Peace, Wall of Blossoms, Pernicious Deed, Muscle Sliver
@@voluntarism335 no no it's not Not truely at lest A disadvantage assumed your not getting enough bang what your paying for But discarding a card for a free counterspell is not disadvantage
@@AVAL2775 as much as that guy's an asshole and has trolled several comment section here so far, force of will is the poster child for card disadvantage. Doesn't mean it isn't really good, and possibly too good for modern, but 2 for 1ing yourself is the very definition of card disadvantage.
I personally think it will be Force over Counterspell for the reason that it might help with the issue of the new mulligan rule more safely, and I honestly think it will be the Buy a Box promo as a way to move boxes, and not mess with the limited format with a mostly not good card for it.
What could appear is price of progress. What i would like myself would be a set of swords with buddy colours like selesnya etc Ex. Sword of sun and vigor
Cloud of Faeries would be nice to fit the cycling theme you mentioned with Astral Slide, while pushing faeries toward tribal possibilities by allowing Spellstutter Sprite to be a stronger 2 drop.
I'd love to see coffers, oubliette, edict of some sort, ichorid, maybe a few others. Basically my hope is we see enough reprints and new stuff for a few new archetypes to show up. Basically make modern a bit less stale.
swords to plowshares, dark ritual, hymn to tourach, dark depths, crop rotation, force of will, brainstorm, exhume, show and tell, sneak attack, and everything not on the reserved list
YES! And it would be great to see non-staple cards that could get played. There's a lot of cards that will never be good enough for Legacy that would be fun to play.
I think Counterspell is the most likely reprint in the set, same as you. But I really think that Baleful Strix is also very likely, and I would love it to beef up fair UBx decks and introduce Tezzerator decks. Following that, I would love to see Shardless Agent alongside strix to make sultai midrange a real deck, or at least give it a shot at doing so. The deck that plays both those cards looks sweet, and if Leovold comes around in the second modern horizon’s set then the deck could be very real while being perfectly fair. Making midrange or control decks strong even to the point of being dominant is a positive change from the current format, which rewards non-interactive combo or aggro decks that attempt to go as fast as possible. Blue-based control needs a push, and I think all these cards could be great at opening up multiple blue archetypes, from UW and Jeskai just getting counterspell to Grixis and Sultai getting a chance, plus making UB Faeries possibly better and making UBx Tezzeret exist period. Would be pretty sick.
Dark Ritual! Time to bring back a staple of monoblack that has existed since the beginning of MTG! Make it uncommon/rare if you're worried about its implications as a common.
Personal wish: high tide Most likely: counterspell The reason I think high tide wouldn't be too bad is as follows: It's not strong enough to be higher than tier 3 in legacy, and that's with brainstorm. There's enough card selection to make it possibly viable as a tier 2 deck, but not enough reliable draw spells or win conditions in mono blue to make it insane. Hell, it may even be tier 3 or 4 In modern unless they reprinted brain freeze and meditate heh.
I think Baleful Strix is quite likely to be in the set. I think it provides fair decks with much needed legs against linear creature strategies that can get out of hand in spite of hand disruption and removal. I like it a lot against spirits, it makes an easy blocker once their board all get hexproof. I think it could be played by control decks, or by midrange decks such as Grixis Shadow.
Counterspell does nothing major to Modern, it upgrades from Logic Knot, but that doesn't see much play either. My first pick is Flusterstorm, because it upgrades a card that sees play in the format (Spell Pierce) while hitting multiple degenerate decks.
I love your choices, and love the old Invasion andOdyssey blocks so much and seeing a lot of choices (and then a white hard counter to TTB/T&N strats) was really interesting
Captain Sweatpants I hate it when people say this. It's a good idea for a format but it's just a different format. Modern is a good format no reason to make it a different format.
I believe that Rishadan port or Force of Will will be reprinted. While I hate blue decks and my only home is from when I fell in love with your 8 rack list and adjusted it, Force has a downside of card disadvantage that most people don't think about. But I'd be in love if Hymn to Tourach was legalized
You hit my top 1: Astral Slide. My question for you prof: What is your obsession with Oubliette!? How good is it in pauper and what does it combo with?
!!PLEASE READ!! I highly doubt that Counterspell will be in Horizons. The reason why is for the longest time, Mark Rosewater(?) has repeatedly stated that Counterspell will NEVER be printed in a Modern set. They've been actively avoiding doing so for a reason. That's why Deprive exists as a Counterspell alternative. It still has a casting cost of {U}{U}, but the only drawback to playing it is that you have to bounce a land back to your hand. If for some reason Counterspell was ever printed in Modern, it would become too powerful, a lot of people would be grumbling about how Modern has basically become the new Legacy, virtually everyone would quit Magic, and prices for the card would spike dramatically. It's just overall A BAD IDEA.
Absolutely not. R&D just considered printing Counterspell in STANDARD, through Dominaria. It's a lock for Modern Horizons, mark my words. It also has 15 printings under $3 a piece right now, how are they suddenly ALL going to spike?
@@giovannivivaldi450 All that needs to happen is for it to become really popular in certain decks. Then all of a sudden: *COUNTERSPELLS* *COUNTERSPELLS EVERYWHERE* Stores will see that Counterspell is doing well, so they'll charge more for it. It's why Resplendent Angel is a $30 card instead of a $3 card. As I mentioned before (and maybe you didn't read my entire comment), Deprive is a much safer alternative to Counterspell because it has a slight drawback; bouncing a land back to your hand. In my opinion, Counterspell would ruin the Modern format as we know it.
Oubliette isn't currently in black's color pie. According to Mark Rosewater, that means the card can be reprinted, but it can't be introduced to any format that doesn't already have access to it.
I don't follow modern or legacy much but I would love to see the rest of the krosan verge cycle! I think Morden horizons would be a good place for it since it wouldn't have to go through standard as well
For me, there are two things i'm really hoping for. The main one is new modular creatures (very possible, but unlikely). The other is some old slivers from legacy, as well as some new ones to boost up the deck.
You jest, but the Invasion block two-color bear cycle would be a cool flavorful inclusion in the set and make me happy, especially if the classic art was retained!
I think most likely is Tainted Pact. Given how much they seem to be Hearthstone lately, it makes sense for bringing "Reno-mechanic" to mtg. Also they understand, that meme potential is good for their game and have probably took note of lpettro's lists on mtgo's Legacy challenges. In addition to making almost highlander meme decks with two instant speed Demonic tutors it would make some combo decks more consistent, but it wouldn't be too poverful due to high risk involved with it. Outside of meme decks it rewards players who can correctly assess whether to settle for current card or can they keep digging. Card I want to see the most is Wasteland.
Don't forget about all the Non-Restricted Portal 1-3 cards! Maybe a Three Visits...? or Control of the Court, Overwhelming Forces, all those odd Portal Tutors...
Both personal and pick i think will make it over to modern horizons is: Swords to plowshare. Its gives white a second path that it is lacking and it wouldn't be too impactful.
Return of horsemanship is of course the most likely situation. Notably: riding the dilu horse, a sorcery that gives a creature +2/+2 and horsemanship FOREVER. A real potent shift in the modern meta, making Bant Troll Worship a newfound powerhouse! 80% chance, undoubtedly, of a reprint of horsemanship staples like riding the dilu horse
Battle Screechg will 100% be in the set. Flashback theme seems obvious, since it already is a modern mechanic, and there are many interesting flashback spells. However the best indicator is the printing of Serra as a flyers lady.
Oh my I just see the first card... and I'm already in love. I WANT astral slide in modern. I have play it so much in legacy, and put it in a cycle archetype in my cube. This card is so insane with thragtusk :) I want it to be modern legal for so long, so glad that you thought of it too :)

Baleful Strix seems like a given, and i can’t wait to see it in modern
I will literally cry if my owly boi does not get added to modern.
Yeah, because cards to fight fair midrange decks Is what the format really needs
I want SOULCATCHERS AERIE & BATTLE SCREECH. Birds made good decks in Odyseey/Onslaught Deck.. I wouldn't mind more squirrels !
I'd love to see battle screech, call of the herd, psychatog, nimble mongoose, werebear, roar of the wurm, etc.
@@grabbity Call of the Herd is modern legal.
Battle screech plz!
Yeah, Battle Screech at common please (same reason as with Chainer's Edict).
@@Feyamius AFAIK Chainers' has always been Uncommon. A great combo with the Battle Screech is Prismatic Strands, reprint that too!
The way FoW is the proverbial "glue" of Legacy, I believe that reprinting Stifle in Horizons would make that card hold a similar position in Modern. It could allow for many unbannings as well.
That will increase deck diversity and decrease aggressiveness, but it would be absolutely everywhere.
@@SomeFreakingCactus glue to hold the format together, just like FoW in legacy. Would promote diversity and innovation in deckbuilding with Stifle as a built in safety valve
Don't know enough about modern to be logical or likely. So here some picks from when I played most.
1. Ernham Djinn
2. Armageddon (yes, I was that guy)
3. Grinning Totem - 2 colorless to tutor from your opponent's deck?
4. Kaervek's Torch - fireball with some counterspell counter play.
5. Knight of Dawn - the knight with a lightsaber that fears no color!!!
Honorable mentions
Land Tax, Library of Leng, and Empyerian Armor
And yes, I play a lot of white.
You came here for 3:47
I personally expect Baleful Strix to be reprinted, but I really want Vindicate because Orzhov needs more support beside just Lingering Souls. Also, I'd love to see the various wishes see a printing.
0:50 I have a few of those, The invasion block deck which featured them was one of my first ones. I remember winning a tournament at my school with the prebuilt deck.
foil foil will be the modern blue force of will ...
hannes3d it won’t see play force is bad in modern since decks don’t win on turn 2
Only 1 deck can win on turn 2 and that’s grisholebrand and it rarely wins on turn 2
hannes3d mind break trap can be hard cast too and guess what mind break trap sees no play

@@EliyaSelhub Hey thanks mate, greatly appreciated. Just quickly, what of the Rookie decks from Card Kingdom? Any opinion?
Aww prof we'd be excited for merfolk too
the shoutout to Gaea's Skyfolk makes me so happy. that has to be my all-time favorite card art.
Muscle Sliver and Crystalline Sliver, thank you very much!
Crystalline is a good choice for protection, but wouldn't Sedge Sliver be a better pick for a new lord effect? Modern already has Predatory after all.
VGJustice sedge Sliver is already modern playable. And you can always use another lord😉
I'd be down for these. Slivers are fringe at best. It would be fun for them to exist also mirror matches just get funnier.
@@VGJustice Slivers have no problem with redundancy. Being able to run 12 lords is a good thing.
@@harrison1735 egh, shows what I know! Playing too much Commander lately. In that case, I revise my opinion to include Muscle Sliver!
1. Mother of Runes
D&T, Zoo, Maveric, Deadguy, Soul Sisters, ... need a good one drop to protect important creatures they commit to the board. I like Devoted Caretaker as well but keeping up a white mana is a bit harder (but it would be an ok alternative I guess)
mother of runes would be too oppressive for modern imo. basically countering the first removal spell each turn cycle leads to a lot of unfun games
I think baleful strix, pernicious deed and some kind of tortured existence gy engine card are gonna see print
Maybe mirari's wake or something? Just hope there's enough stuff to add a few new archetypes in to modern and shake things up a lot.
The music during the Merfolk section was awesome. Thank you for that.
Thanks Prof! You inspired me to pick up Magic again after not having played for years and I've made so many wonderful friends doing it. You've indirectly improved my quality of life so much.
Might be dumb, but some cards I'd love to see reprinted are:
•Darkest Hour
•Wormwood Treefolk
•Mask of Intolerance
•Reel Shaman
•Urborg Elf
•Vindicate
Great vid prof. I think astral slide would be a sweet reprint, it seems like it would just be a ton of fun to pilot.
Hopefully lightning rift as well
5. Takeno's Cavalry
4. Zephyr Spirit
3. Bog Hoodlums
2. Scornful Egotist
1. Wood Elemental
Flusterstorm is banned
Zephyr Nace-Beach it’s not banned, it was never legal in Modern to begin with. The card was originally printed in a commander set and received one paper reprint in iconic masters
As for 5 cards I would love to see:
Astral Slide, I just think it could make for a fantastic Deck;
Goblin Sharpshooter, give 8 whack some actual interaction and could make for a decent gobbo Deck;
Pattern of Rebirth, Polymorph is a Deck that needs some love and switching the main color to green is what I think would be great for the deck;
Necromancy, Reanimator Decks are one of my favorites but I think Animate Dead or Reanimate would be to strong for modern.
I instantly thought Serra was way too op, and would probably be banned in 2 years lol
Quirion Ranger might be less powerful and more suitable than Symbiote.
Edit: Also Foil would be a safe inclusion.
Morales Sánchez Oscar Elías Foil is an interesting option, as they’re going to be down three cards now. I would personally rather see Foil than FoW
I fell in love with tortured existence at the pauper MCQ and wonder what kind of decks could be made in modern around it.
Yeah, TE in pauper is such a blast to play, would be interesting to see what waves it makes in modern
Please not Force of Will, I like things resolving when my opponent is tapped out.
pact is already in the game to stop you from interacting with your opponent's game winning combo
@@auroralee Daze supercharges decks like phoenix and death's shadow even more so than force.
Force of Will is a bad card. All it does is keep turn-one and -two decks from going apeshit. You ALWAYS board it out in matchups against fair decks.
@@TheOnlyBootlegger that's not nessaserily true
It keeps unfair decks honest
And there are allot of unfair decks in modern

That would be true, if this were going into standered
That's not what's happening
How about Balance ... the name says it's very fair!
@@voluntarism335 uh not really
@@voluntarism335 no no it's not

@@AVAL2775 as much as that guy's an asshole and has trolled several comment section here so far, force of will is the poster child for card disadvantage. Doesn't mean it isn't really good, and possibly too good for modern, but 2 for 1ing yourself is the very definition of card disadvantage.
Love the suit! Very distinct and it suits your demeanor and personality.
Thoughts on potential ash barrens reprint? This IS a draft format after all.
Would be nice at common since the Master 25 one was uncommon
would be pretty sick if they decide to print astral slide as well.
@@jonahcoffman3078 already playable in pauper, first printing was as common somewhere
@@Weregoatee yeah I believe it was Commander 2016
I personally think it will be Force over Counterspell for the reason that it might help with the issue of the new mulligan rule more safely, and I honestly think it will be the Buy a Box promo as a way to move boxes, and not mess with the limited format with a mostly not good card for it.
1:06 end of the video.
Having fun figuring out all the books on your bookshelf. Surprised to see a James Michener title. Thumbs up on Imzadi.
Don't worry, Professor, merfolk have a place in our hearts as well. Tribal synergy with solid blue shenanigans is always welcome.
Ptff just bad gobo's, give us matron, lackey and ringleader in modern
What could appear is price of progress. What i would like myself would be a set of swords with buddy colours like selesnya etc
Ex. Sword of sun and vigor
Personal pick: Sylvan Library
Most likely: Force of Will
Please please please, Astral Slide! Getting my astro glide ready!
Really wish Arcane Denial would get reprinted
Frost weaver Oh yeah...that could happen. 👍
This
Cloud of Faeries would be nice to fit the cycling theme you mentioned with Astral Slide, while pushing faeries toward tribal possibilities by allowing Spellstutter Sprite to be a stronger 2 drop.
All I want is swords to plowshares and foil
Buried alive in black. Fireblast in red. Foil or counter spell in blue. Rofellos in green. Mother of runes white. Urza incubator in colorless
Nikachu made a video about good cards to be printed in Horizon for Merfolk. If you guys want to see it, just search for his channel.
If you're looking for one sided edict effects in modern, 'Geth's Verdict' and 'Trial of Ambition' are the best current options.
Cabal Coffers or bust.
There are many cards not played in Legacy that can made an impact on Modern, not every reprint needs to be a staple.
YES! And it would be great to see non-staple cards that could get played. There's a lot of cards that will never be good enough for Legacy that would be fun to play.
Devoted Caretaker, Arcane Denial, Black Vise, Priest of Titania, ... sooo much possibilities :D
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Personal wish: high tide
Most likely: counterspell
The reason I think high tide wouldn't be too bad is as follows:
It's not strong enough to be higher than tier 3 in legacy, and that's with brainstorm. There's enough card selection to make it possibly viable as a tier 2 deck, but not enough reliable draw spells or win conditions in mono blue to make it insane. Hell, it may even be tier 3 or 4 In modern unless they reprinted brain freeze and meditate heh.
High tide in modern would be sweet and time spiral
counterspell will be reprint and it will have no significant effect on the format.
Circular Logic hype
Top 5 I'd like to see: Rishadan Port, Wirewood Symbiote, Patron Wizard, Daze, Diabolic Edict
Top 5 I think they'll print: Counterspell, Containment Priest, Baleful Strix, Sneak Attack, Sylvan Library
sylvan library would be amazing 0_0
Counterspell does nothing major to Modern, it upgrades from Logic Knot, but that doesn't see much play either. My first pick is Flusterstorm, because it upgrades a card that sees play in the format (Spell Pierce) while hitting multiple degenerate decks.
Not saying its impossible, but i somehow believe WotC would rather do literally anthing but give storm a boost.
linkXness it is a storm card that stops storm, though.
Sounds interesting. I'd still rather have daze or force.
I love your choices, and love the old Invasion andOdyssey blocks so much and seeing a lot of choices (and then a white hard counter to TTB/T&N strats) was really interesting
Invest in counterspell, if it gets printed into modern the price will spike
Thank you for introducing me to Gaea’s Skyfolk. I now want one for my EDH Simic Merfolk deck.
Flusterstorm would be a phenomenal reprint
I’m more worried about gameplay not the price
Your force of will, sir, made me like and comment. Great job ! If only I had topdecked a reprinted countermagic...
I hope modern just becomes legacy minus the reserve list, new format is coming anyway
Captain Sweatpants I hate it when people say this. It's a good idea for a format but it's just a different format. Modern is a good format no reason to make it a different format.
Just play legacy then. Magic is great because there are do many ways to play and each format feels different.
Slightly annoying to print Counterspell into Modern so randomly after all these years.
You are so refreshingly upbeat and charismatic! Thank you for your wonderful videos.
I want containment priest, splinter twin and eye of ugin In modern ;-D
i think i want deathrite shaman, is there something that makes it super broken beyond what's written on the card?
5-sphere of resistance
4-ravages of war
3-three visits
2-memory lapse
1-goblin lackey
#1 Takklemaggot
You have excellent taste and will go far in life.
Everything you said excites me. Cut prices down!!!
Then all of a sudden: *COUNTERSPELLS*
*COUNTERSPELLS EVERYWHERE*
Stores will see that Counterspell is doing well, so they'll charge more for it.
As you started Seahunter and Empress Galina I thought you had accidently Gotten a hold of my merfolk edh deck...:)
Oubliette isn't currently in black's color pie. According to Mark Rosewater, that means the card can be reprinted, but it can't be introduced to any format that doesn't already have access to it.
I don't follow modern or legacy much but I would love to see the rest of the krosan verge cycle! I think Morden horizons would be a good place for it since it wouldn't have to go through standard as well
Maybe Priest of Titania? Another big mana dork and it's a great reprint for pauper, and it's foil will be worth a pretty penny.
They do change their stance on things sometimes, but they have stated that they plan to never bring back horsemanship.
Battle Screechg will 100% be in the set. Flashback theme seems obvious, since it already is a modern mechanic, and there are many interesting flashback spells. However the best indicator is the printing of Serra as a flyers lady.
Planeshift Lairs, Wild Mongrel + Rootwalla, Psychatog, Foil, Circular Logic, Fireblast, Flame Rift, maybe Price of Progress though that would be evil
Reprint Planeshift Lairs OR Print NEW lairs for Wedge Colors... OR BOTH!
Oh my I just see the first card... and I'm already in love. I WANT astral slide in modern. I have play it so much in legacy, and put it in a cycle archetype in my cube. This card is so insane with thragtusk :) I want it to be modern legal for so long, so glad that you thought of it too :)
