    My opinion is the model was in the collection of a certain person for the many props he had acquired over the decades. When that fellow passed away, the model was discovered in his possession. The sudden reappearance of the model after his passing is just too much of a coincidence for me.

    Wow, very sorry to hear that there may be any sort of fraud with regard to Star Trek, even if for a long lost model. Very much looking forward to hearing what has happened here. Thanks. Jim.

      Hi Michelle! Yeah, it’s always sad to see these things come up. But in this case, I think it was a forgone conclusion that something like this would come up. It’s important to note that the sellers do not consider in any way this to be something that Rod did. The explicitly call out in the complaint that he was not aware of what they claim Heritage was doing. So there’s some comfort in that. Jim

    It got me thinking after your live feed, if the 33" Enterprise model was disassembled like the D-7 then like the D-7 it should have had molds taken off it. Now I'm curious about the molds? 🤔

      Good question! I’m obviously not certain that it was Abel who took it apart…… but someone sure did. And why, is a very good question.

    Jim, if it were me, I'd be careful how I characterized the court filings. The matters asserts in those filings are simply allegations at this point that are being made by the plaintiffs. Until there's a responsive pleading by the defendants, no one knows what the defendant(s) may deny/contest or what they may admit. I'd avoid using phrases like "we know", "what happened", etc. unless the defendant(s) have filed and they and the plaintiffs are in agreement on a fact(s). Then we may 'know' what facts might agree on, and what facts disagree on. Otherwise, I'd preface all discussion with "plaintiffs allege" or "plaintiffs assert" or 'defendants deny and assert' or words to the affect that 'here's what the filing party is saying'.

      Hi there! Thank you so much for your concern and advice. You are completely correct, I plan to point out repeatedly that this is only the one side of a conversation and that we will not know what really happened until the lawsuit is settled. But the timeline and the people involved are fascinating and will give us a clear view of what happened between the eBay auction and now. It also clearly indicates that Roddenberry Enterprises is in no way implicated in the complaint and that the sellers specifically say in the complaint that REI did nothing wrong in the transaction.

    • @Rakmusen
      @Rakmusen 2 місяці тому

      I don't understand why anyone thinks that Roddenberry is involved in this in any capacity to begin with. Over the years he's deliberately put a healthy distance between himself and Star Trek at every turn. Why he would have any involvement with this model after decades of distancing is beyond me, other than for him to say "Yeah it's the Enterprise. What of it? I SAF don't want it."

  • @kevinkole916

    Eugene Roddenberry has no claim to the model and I recommend to the sellers to lawyer up from the beginning.

    • @TREK-WORLD
      @TREK-WORLD  2 місяці тому +3

      Agreed. Their mistake from the very beginning was that they didn’t go immediately to a lawyer.

  • @Anth230

    Why these guys took such an iconic piece to an auction house and NOT have a lawyer present is beyond me. I get rhag theu ar storage unit buyers and a lot of them do indeed go straight to auction hosues with stuff. But this piece here and it's history (which they knew once fans alerted them on ebay) should have been handled a bit more delicately. I think they still got a very fair deal here considering that they chose to take it there.

    • @TREK-WORLD
      @TREK-WORLD  2 місяці тому +2

      The more I think about it; the more amazed I am that they didn’t grab a lawyer immediately. I mean, they live in Los Angeles of all places! I suspect that may be the most “lawyered up” city in the United States!

    From what I know is the model was loaned out to the producers of Star Trek TMP back in 1979, then it vanished.
    Maybe it was pulled into Tholian space all of these years.
