- It's always sad to take Christmas decorations down. May the Lord in His graciousness, see us through to another one. Until then, I'm making it my ambition to find beauty in those quiet places that we often forget to look. Will you join me? It might be cold and barren outside, but inside can be made warm and cheerful with just a little work.

I just took down the tree and packed everything up. It is a sad time for me, but as I feed the birds outside, I spy my herb garden box peeking out of the snow, and a pang of excitement reminds me the days are getting longer and the seed catalogs are coming soon!

It's so true, though. Coziness, pinecones and pine trees. Snow if your lucky. Hot cocoa. Dried berries on branches, Feed the birds. Make something good to eat or wear. Paint a picture, do house projects like de-clutter or cleaning. Pick some winter branches, pines and dried greens/flowers in a vase. Take a walk, especially in a wooded area. I love winter.

I find beauty in the really grey days, it fascinates me how many shades of grey a landscape can produce and how beautiful it can appear. My neighbour could never see it I used think it was because our different attitudes on how we look at things, can you see the beauty in a grey landscape xx

The feeling of “fresh, new, clean” after putting away all the busyness of Christmas decor is what gives the dark days of January their light. January, in my opinion, is the most difficult month of the year. It is the time of reflection, of putting to rest the regrets of the previous year, and building the hope for what is ahead. God is always good to give us stillness right when we most need to focus and plan 💜💙

As I sit here in the last vestiges of Summer and know Winter will be coming in a few months I would usually shiver and have an empty feeling. But your encouragement to look for the beauty and make the inside warm and cheerful fills me with hope. I often get so discontented during the winter and I wish for something other than wet, gray, cold, days but it's videos like these that renew my excitement and inspire me to thank God for His gift of change. I was, forced, to take my tree down this year and it saddened me so much. But you have got me thinking about finding other beauty to replace the soothing comforts of Christmas. So happy to see your video up.

Christmas was my favorite holiday as a kid, yes I enjoyed getting presents but my favorite present was when I was 4 or 5 and my dad got me a sled and we had a hill that our house was on which was also essentially our driveway in upstate ny and I remember having the time of my life seeing the snow blanket everything with all the trees surrounding our home, and decorating our tree with my mom and seeing our ornaments that we had for years, and having family come over for dinner and also going to church for Christmas eve service and participating in the play of the birth of Jesus with my church friends and dad lighting the fireplace and we would have hot cocoa, simple things like THAT is what children who were my age found joy in, now these days Christmas is associated with negativity and so much consumerism and kids don't have fun in it or don't know how to have fun in it anymore it's so sad.
I do look forward to the reds, hearts and vintage Valentines that I put up next - it reflects the love I have for my home and those in it.
This warms my soul.
I get a little sad when I take Xmas down but I’m leaving some fairy lights around to keep the warmth as well.

I also packed Christmas up last week (with the background music of your videos) and I also cleaned the oven last week with baking soda, vinegar and a little brush. Not pleasant chores, but necessary.

Found your channel a little while ago love the simplicity and beauty. I am in my fifties and I try to hold on to the beauty of Christmas because what is the rush to put it all away. As you get older you no longer feel like you are guaranteed endless holidays so you want to savor each one. I even do Christmas in july my little Christmas where I can enjoy a few things of that holiday. And I must admit I am no fan of summer .it is the only season I hope will go by quickly.

I too put everything away except the outdoor lights. To be honest I wasn't ready for that yet and I lost my window of 40 degrees to do it in. There is something very wonderful about the simplicity of Winter, after all the Holidays are through, that allows us/me to participate in the rest that's meant for this time. This specific video gave me the motivation to start writing my reflection from last year. January for me is a bit of a dark and difficult month as I ponder on things I wish I could have done on the previous year. Especially 2020 hit me hard in so many ways and kinda still is but I’m in the process of getting better. I just hope this new beginning will give us good things we are waiting for. Happiest of New Years to u and ur loved ones! Yes Christmas is fun and I luv decorating for it, however, I also luv winter. Natures' pace is slow and deliberate. The landscape is awash in a monochrome palette w/ pops of blue sky and bright yellow sun. It gives the soul a chance to take a deep breath and recharge.
Everytime you make a video, I feel like I’m watching a children’s book author read to us but also show us what you are doing. Like a female mr.dress up or something. Just pure and wholesome.

Just beautiful, so calming. On my winter hikes this yr I have been noticing how beautiful the brown dead plants are. The bare branches against the sky. I have been loving photographing the fall/winter and find it quiet and barren and beautiful. 😊
I get so sad after Christmas holidays are over and we put down all the decorations. But this year, even though I decorated my house the most, I wasn't actually sad, knowing that Christmas will come again next year , while I can find other ways to feel cozy and warm during winter. ...first on the agenda for January is always calling the local nursery for primroses...they are a super cheap/happy alternative to cut flowers...I keep them outside then plant when possible...imo color makes everything better...happy 2021💛

Aw, you should keep some up next time! I am starting to take down the Christmasy decor, but I am leaving up some things like pine garlands and lights and the smaller trees without the ornaments. I usually leave it up until the end of Jan because I live in such a cold climate. It brings me cozy vibes :)

Your video was a good reminder for me to accept the seasons. I have yet to take the tree down this year which is unusual for me. Im just loving the glow of it but what you said about the season of the tree finally made it click. I live in Florida and we're in our "winter" months, it's really more like fall.
