I am proud owner of both. I owned s2000 mkiii for a year and I can tell you that these has absolute clear and nice sound. Now I couldn't resist and bought S3000Pro. I have both next to each other and comparing sound for two days. And it is hard to say really as both got its advantages and sounds different.
But I have to say that s2000 mkiii are better for richer mids and not so disturbing highs as S3000Pro has. S3000Pro suits more to living room. s2000 mkiii should be in bigger box and that's it. Maybe in the next version.

I own both and the s2000mkiii seems to have a faster more attacking bass. The s3000pro sounds a bit clearer but the clarity sounds a bit artificial, vocals sound slightly mechanical, it can also be heard in this recording. The s2000mkiii has more muffled vocals.

Long time subscriber here. Would be great to know wich one would you consider a better upgrade from the old S2000 pro's. I tend to think S2000 mkiii because i'm afraid that the wifi solution in S3000pro will kill some sound quality(considering i use a great DAC) and some people have connection drop problems. I use the S2000 pro with treble boosted to 2-3 a'clock. More controlled bass and cleaner, clearer, more open midrange and refined highs are what i'm looking for. Also better dinamics and kick are very important to me.

A channel from Russia made this comparison. Result: S2000mkiii is a winner according to my ears. Better highs and mids. Same bass response. I would say easily on par with 3000pro, minus the extra bass. Altough some people find the highs bright, and mids a bit more in the background of 2000mkiii and 3000pro, I personally prefer it this way. Because, tuning down is always better versus tuning up. Plus they do not have the same specs. S2000mkiii is triamped, it has the new tuning adjustment like 3000pro. And you have extra 6watts rms treble.

Basically identical tone, you just get more LF extension and more "air" with the bigger brother. The only thing that worries me with the S3000 is the wireless interconnect. It adds another layer of latency between signal input and driver output, as there is a brief master speaker output delay to synchronize outputs between speakers. I'd much rather see a cable between speakers. Since the slave has a hard wired power cord anyway, the wireless interconnect is sort of pointless.

    • @Bootrosgali
      @Bootrosgali Рік тому +3

NAh , Wireless all the way!, There is basically no difference and you will notice that having the freedom of no wire adds an extra dimension in your brain that will have another kind of positive knock on effect to your consumer experience... just need to have a plug socket handy but thats a different thing to knowing you will ultimately have to run that wire from wherever you put that speaker to the other.. So when you think about how important placement is, thousands of people out there would much prefer the S3000 and splash that (not in audiophile$$$s) extra $$.. In fact, what it would mean is , you will find yourself playing music in rooms you never would have bothered to try,. And that opens up eway more possibilites.

@@marcohermans3207 Perhaps I know what you mean. A lot of speakers have an increased boost in the upper base to make them sound a little warmer and make them "rumble" a bit more. Systems tuned this way are a little more forgiving for bad recordings. The S2000MKIII don't have this boost to a high extend. I did the exact same thing! No regrets whatsoever on the sound aspect. The bass sounds deeper and the highs were a lot cleaner, especially if you crank the volume up in a living room. If I had to fault anything is that the S3000Pros is a slightly old technology design. Compared to the S2000MKIIIs, I noted: 1) the display panel of the S3000s was a lot smaller (your selected mode is not visible when youre sitting back); 2) the display panel on the S3000Pro doesn't conveniently show the volume you are at - each time had to be careful to "dial down" before switching inputs e.g. from phone to vinyl player etc... 3) the S3000 doesnt remember the sound mode you are in i.e. you have to keep selecting "Dynamic"/your preferred mode - that said, I and also others have commented that we cannot distinguish between the sound modes lol

Both have about the same sound profile. However, the S3000 has a little more bass and more power. To me, from this video, S3000 had bigger/wider imaging. So if you are a loud rap and trap listener you might want to give it a go with the S3000

S3000 just looks so much fatter and meaner than S2000! And its USB implementation is excellent. Significantly more clarity, detail, openess and definition but slightly less punch vs Klipsch The Fives via AptX. Almost close to Neumann KH120 / Dynaudio Focus 110A - losing out slightly in overall detail, and also control/some port noise at extreme bass excursion - otherwise v v close at normal volume. Thinking if I should get a 2nd pair. . .

I took apart the bookshelf (Surround speaker) NS B500, from the home theather set and put them at my pc. Leaving my home theather set with 2.1 system and still sound great, barely missing anything. And my pc now got a high quality great sounding Yamaha set + random decent subwoofer. I dont know how to compared Yamaha NS B500 compared to Edifier S2000mkiii. Open sounding. Crystal clear treble. Solid mid. The frequency response is 50hz- 50khz. So it is not going as low as the S2000/3000. Thats why i just put a random sub to get that low deep rumbling bass. My dad also own a set of yamaha speaker which i believed to be as old as myself. So yeah.

If you 360db u got 2 speakers and a sub and thats that. End of it.

I noticed the price fluctuates a lot. At Amazon.nl €470,- now, got them for €340,- but I think that was a little mistake :)

so, after a few moths of experience with s3000 pro I decided to return to s2000 mkiii. I was so eager to advance to a300, but looks like I can't handle this price barrier in my head, that's just way too much for me and they're not that easily placed in a room which brings me additional business.

How much louder is the S3000 Pro vs S2000 mkiii? In a moderate sized living room ~40m2.
Update: I returned the S2000MKIIIs and got the S3000Pro. The bass sounds deeper and the highs were a lot cleaner, especially if you crank the volume up in a living room. This was the main reason I switched. At louder volumes the S3000 sounds definitely sounds more "broad" (if that makes sense lol) where the S2000MKIII would have started to struggle at when the volume was pushed past 30ish (total of 40 units of sound).
If I had to fault anything is that the S3000Pros uses slightly older technology/design. Compared to the S2000MKIIIs, I noted: 1) the display panel of the S3000s was a lot smaller (your selected mode is not visible when youre sitting back); 2) the display panel on the S3000Pro doesn't conveniently show the volume you are currently at - each time had to be careful to "dial down" before switching inputs e.g. from phone to vinyl player etc... 3) the S3000 doesnt remember the sound mode you are in i.e. you have to keep selecting "Dynamic"/your preferred mode - that said, I and also others have commented that we cannot distinguish between the sound modes lol

    1. DAC of Onkyo sound best, more musical. Best rca with DAC Integra, than optical out with edifier internal DAC.
    2. Edifier can not compete with Castel speakers drived by MF A1, more space, resonance, perfect for classical music.
    3. Runing both systems at the same time from the same CD source is the best, trebles from edifier are fantastic!

I can buy a refurbished pair of S3000Pro's that around around AUD$400 chepaer and that closes the gap for me (AUD$710 vs AUD$450). So hard to decide. Also they're big. By girlfriend was not keen on how much space they would take up. But I want better sound than I am getting with my Bose Revolve + (I have two but it is such a pain putting them in stereo mode).
