  • Well decided to experiment with a Briggs & Stratton fuel pump rated up to 8 horsepower that I got off the eBay for $7 versus paying $46 for a used factory unit off ebay.

    Pump is still doing great. Carb needed rebuilt in this video and why the idle was the way it was, soon after taking it offroading I rebuilt the carb and it ran and idled better.

    Is there a way to put slightly taller tires on the front because every time I take a turn the front tires come off the ground

    Hey Bryan! Thanks for the Suzuki vids! I have a ALT125 3 Wheeler. I think it's an '83. I bought an aftermarket direct replace fuel pump off Amazon that will be here tomorrow. I've been googling and cannot find any instructions for removal of the existing fuel pump. Do you have any tips for replacement? Just clamp off the feed? remove hoses and bolts and replace? Thanks!

      Mine didn't come with a factory pump, last owner removed it and gravity fed fuel till the tank couldn't push fuel anymore.

      moto ghost Either fuel isn't getting out of the tank, to the carb or out of the carb.
      There is a bleed screw on the bottom of the float bowl, open it and if no gas comes out, either the needle is stuck shut or fuel land pumping. Also the carb has a prime pull lever on it, pull ou5 and let it suck itself back in, you should feel fluid resistance. That primes the carb.

    Did u use that hole that was plugged up for the vacuum cuz I just bought this exact same four wheeler and I’m pretty sure he had the carb hooked up wrong so I don’t know where each line goes

      I used the plugged hole for the pulse feed for the fuel pump I'm still using. The line at the top of the tank I want to say is a vent line.

      @@mistermacgray thank you so much. Got a lt185 local. Runs on spray but replacing carb. Pump. Brakes and giving a fresh coat of paint. Your videos are great help. I don’t know to much of gas engine but I have fixed a few. I tend to build small electric vehicles. Electric longboard/mountainboard, electric pit bikes and hopefully an electric quad later down the road.

      @@spireEngineering6523 these have manual adjust valves, manual adjust can chain tensioner and manual adjust drive chain tensioner too. Lots to look over for these. Also if you haven't figured it out, one of the levers is a decompression valve for when you go to start the engine, only the lt185 had them. The pull starts are hard to find for these so do take care of the one you have. I'm still trying to find another 125/185 that somebody doesn't want an arm and a leg for.

    I kinda don’t understand this fuel system. If my fuel pump is faulty, what are the symptoms? Will the bike not run at all? My only problem with my lt125 is cold starting. I adjusted the valves and im in the process of cleaning out the whole carb. If it doesn’t start easily than I may think its the pump?? But it starts fine if i pour a bit of gas in the intake

    • @mistermacgray
      @mistermacgray  Рік тому

      Pump isn't pumping or you need to prime the carb with the pull knob on the left side of the carb

    • @frankiemarchese2978

      @@mistermacgray on a cold start after a day of it not running. I can pull the primer 50 x and feel no resistance, its an aftermarket primer but no rips or anything. Its just weird how it runs amazing when gas is poured into the intake. Wouldn’t that mean my pump is working? If I pull choke itll run for a second maybe 2 and then die. Last thing I need to check is the clip position to make sure its what the manual says

    I have a quadrunner 185 and there’s no fuel in the line going from the pump to the carb. Is that an issue with the carb or the pump?

    • @mistermacgray
      @mistermacgray  5 років тому

      If nothing from the pump to the carb, pump is at fault whether it's not pumping or not getting an impulse to pump.

    • @DR.P3RKY
      @DR.P3RKY 5 років тому

      Bryan Gray I’ll add my thought process to it. It’s a mechanical pump so it needs something to get it going. I squirted some starting fluid in the carb to get it to fire and it did. Fuel came pouring out of the overflow. I now know my problem is float in the carb. Thanks for the reply!

      These are automatic clutches. Let off the gas and you use your left foot to select the gear you want. To go into reverse it must be in neutral and you pull up on the red handle.

      tech nation I assume you are buying the same atv as I have here? $150 is a really good price, I paid $200 for mine and it needed a bit to get to where it is now. I haven't permanently mounted the fuel pump yet, still deciding on a location but I will have a video on its final location. Also there is a small group on facebook call Suzuki lt 125 that you should request to join and ask any questions you have in there about these atv's. Much easier in there to explain stuff. Also check out the other videos I have on this too, putting out at least one a week on it as I work on it.

    • @mistermacgray
      @mistermacgray  3 роки тому

      There is no fuse from my understanding on these. They have a voltage regulator somewhere for the lights. To this day my lights still dont work but I'm not worried. If there is any fuse, it's the light bulbs themselves.

      What were you wanting to see thatbi didn't show? I showed and told the fuel pump model, showed hiw it doesn't build a ton of pressure but works great as an after market solution that many others are using now and for $8 its working great all of these years. This video was made early in my days of making youtube videos so things may have been left out vs professional videos you see on here.
