What I thought was cool was how this showed the evolution of hair curling. We tend to think of pin curls as difficult, but those 18th century ladies would have loved to have had bobby pins and setting lotion! And then bringing in the curling iron you showed another step in the evolution. But really they're all about achieving the same thing...big gorgeous voluminous hair. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Kudos on the front! I also think that baby curl looks super authentic. For a first attempt, high five 🙌 I think those stubborn, tired-armed ladies with no one to help them would appreciate your tribute.
Andrés Serrano they were referring to the beginning of the book where it said “i would inform those stubborn ladies who wish to dress their own hair that this will be troublesome, and tedious, as well as exceedingly tiresome for the arms”

Janet Stephens has a video tutorial on how to use curling papers. I'm the same way with video vs written descriptions. I had to write a paper on Roman fashion/hairdressing for a class in college, and there was a particular hairstyle that was really important, that I had to talk about, but I absolutely couldn't envision it from reading about it! I was so confused, but I finally saw a video and got to SEE it! Such a weight off my shoulders to finally understand what the hell I was talking about!

Welcome to youtube?
Alex Gabriel
why did you have to be so condescending about a positive comment
You sort of looked like the archetypal mad scientist before you smoothed and pinned your hair up 😂 But the end result looked amazing, I admire your determination!
I felt like one at that point, too 😅
That is exactly how I saw in those 18th century paintings. I appreciate your effort in doing this for yourself and also to us.
The 18th century hairdresser is twisting in his grave like "Ahhh the 21st century women! The detailed description their foremothers had so held precious are lost on them! No patience for the serious art of hairdressing! Frolicks and follies and frivolities!"
Please don't take this seriously..Having savage fun at the 18th century ability to make hairstyling look like a science project from NASA.
Oh my God
😂😂😂😂😂
CONGRATS on the popularity of this video and on BRAD MONDO trying to follow the tutorial on his channel! WOW!!
I thought it was his idea so kinda disappointed but I'm glad I found this channel
@@echalotto283 In his video he said he wasn't the first to do it, he also mentioned her in the video
I like seeing how different they interpreted the instructions.
@@monimoo88 me too, it's crazy how differently it came out
Who's Brad Mondo?!?
I love the niche here, it's really an enjoyment to see history being Rehashed, in a laid-back not so serious, The world doesn't end way!
"Don't try this at home"
Me: I want try this at school
I'm definitively trying this! hahaha (once my hair grows a bit longer)
TigerDinosaur This would be an interesting look to do in a Cosmetology class. 🙂
666 likes ima ruin it
Lol.
Now im curios, wtf is a tiger dinosaur
Could you perhaps do a tutorial on Elizabeth Bennett from pride & prejudice? I just love the hair and makeup in that film.
Ps. Still in love with tea garden
agreed
She actually did! You can find it in her channel playlists under Beauty Beacons of Fiction. She looks very becoming with that hairstyle I must say. I hope this helps! Have a lovely day!💙
Yes please!! I can’t find any decent tutorials and it is hands down my favorite movie!

This is the link for Loepsie's Elizabeth Bennet hair tutorial video. If the link doesn't work you can find it in the playlist for her series Beauty Beacons of Fiction. I hope this helps!💙
You're in for a treat next week... 😉
I've been having a low-end week and THEN YOU CHANGED EVERYTHING! By 26:07 my entire neurochemistry got the best kick start! Thanks!
They had hairstylists.
Andrés Serrano they were referring to the beginning of the book where it said “i would inform those stubborn ladies who wish to dress their own hair that this will be troublesome, and tedious, as well as exceedingly tiresome for the arms”
@@kulacute Oh lol II forgot about that. my apologies.

Then just powder your face and add a beauty mark 👌
She already has a cute natural beauty mark.
Just roll in animal fat then dip your entire head in a tub of flour, at that point. :D :D
Soooo much powder!
@@spacewolfcub I'm disturbed by the fact they used animal fat. Wouldn't that reek?!
Andy Lee you reminded me of shrek thank you
I don’t know why this was on my recommended but I’m so glad it was.
This was hilarious. Watched the whole thing and subscribed.
Now time to binge your channel.
I'm seriously impressed at the amount of effort that went into this hairstyle. The things Loepsie does for our education and entertainment!
You are a much better person than I am for 1) Understanding that document and 2) Attempting to do what it says.
(21:02 -- A 18th-century afro.)
This was absolutely epic!!
Between the indecipherable 18th century cosmo master's words, and the ensuing struggle, to the triumphant end, you earned a new sub!
I seriously laughed until I cried, thank you for going through the struggle to make this masterpiece!
Doing your own hair causes bloodshot eyes and tender arms 😂
Causes suicidal tendencies too
I'm black and for my texture this is accurate 😂
Well now I know why all the ladies in the paintings have grey hair😂
Oli Grace I love how grey hair is popular again in society lol.
"I hope you enjoyed this video" she says with agony in her eyes
I don't know how in the hell you followed that!!! 😂😂 sounded like gibberish.
"Hold it until it smokes" HOLD IT UNTIL IT SMOKES. Bruh
You did so good!! I would have stopped after the first bit. 😂
Im getting Helena Bonham Carter vibes from this for some reason
And gee girl, you're patient af
I'm getting Kim Kardashian white girl trying to look like black women vibes...she's created afro textured hair.
Aa Nn seriously lmao
Aa Nn ur a dumbass
@@101Simgamer hmm you sound caucasian, is Kim k your hero? Lmao. It's funny the way caucasian people deny fact, par example, the ancient Egyptians were as black as Jay z...but according to whites, they looked like Elizabeth Taylor. You can only lie to yourselves. The truth is out.
@@101Simgamer your men were boning so many black women back in the day that your black cousins can't be numbered. I found that out through public records.
The amount of effort you put into it is an A plus to me! It is nice to see someone else do it for us who just could not go through the mental torture of actually doing it.
This is so so cool this is probably one of the most interesting and unique tutorials I have seen on YT!! Well done :)
it legit looks like hair from that time tho i thought they all just wore wigs i am SHOOK
Poledra c: same! 🧐
some of them did wear wigs!
@@yasmina10013 no yes i am aware, but i thought they ALL wore wigs, not just some! (:
Same here!! This is NUTS!
Poledra, do you know Belgarath and Polgara?
Girl you have lots of patience to do this because personally by the time it gets to the part of putting in the flower on your hair I’m out but the results were amazing congratulations 🎉
This was one of the most confusing yet entertaining videos I've ever watched!
"There is only so much I am willing to do for youtube videos and cutting my hair into an 18th century mullet isn't one of those things"
Aww darn!
20:35 is the best lol!! The finished product looked so good! I appreciate your time and effort on this!
You are now Mozart, I'm loving this
This is a really original subject and what UA-cam video tutorials (for some) should be about ! History ! And history of hair must have gone a looooooong way.
Thank you for doing this it is amazing to watch the process !
Quick set hedge in June is the look we’re going for XD
Came here from Brad Mondo’s attempt at the same tutorial, and its cool to see the absolute mad-lad levels of bravery trying this on your own hair and the different approaches you both took. I like the three curls on the sides. That’s cool! And girl I can’t imagine how exhausted your arms must be XD
Wow you deserve a medal for all that work 🏆
About why you had loose hair on the back of your head: according to your instructions, it was supposed to be made into a chignon, which is a type of a bun :)
Great work with this video, I was freaking out at the thought of putting so much pomade in my hair! You're so brave!
I was looking for something totally different, but had to watch this :) You are BRAVE!

That was so funny to watch, especially at 16:22!
You were very brave, it might not look very clean, but I must say, it looks quite authentic, especially from the front!
Very good!
Thank-you so much for doing this. It is marvellous and your presentation is delightful. I've been recommending it to colleagues and students alike.
Same. I'm a visual learner.
That first teased section at your crown reminded me of these pointy fairy hats, too funny. :D
The author must have tried so hard to describe everything, but still... :D I am super impressed by how you kept persevering. I would have given up quickly, definitely... And man, all that teasing, teenage Loepsie would have freaked out. :D
LOL you actually did a great job. That’s how it looks in the old photos!!
LMAO I SKIPPED TO THE END AND COULDN'T STOP LAUGHING AT THE RESULT JESUSSS 😂😂😂 THAT'S crazzzyyy you actually did great though
