But you're forgetting the most important thing about being an Imperial Guardsmen, THREE WHOLE MEALS A DAY
Hunter Stonechild Anyone who lives in the underhive would take that deal
ZERO FIELD TRAINING REQUIRED!
implying they live long enough to receive a full day's of rations...

I love how despite how grim their lore is, Imperial Guard can potentially kick the ever loving shit out of every other army on the table.
Mandy Karevicius they do that's why authors make some stupid lore to not make them OP, but there's also times where they do wreck everything, read the lore about IG commander Macharius..
Average life of an imperial guardsmen is 1 day if he's lucky
Adeptus Custode life of the Guardmen *1 min*
survived for *30 min* becomes Veteran.
The average lifetime of a soldier coming to Stalingrad front was 24 hours - just one day!, it comes from this
Shorter than that, actually. It's fifteen hours.
Yup. 15 hours. The Guard Omnibus has one called 15 hours.
Well that's 15 hours of combat. 99% of military life is waiting and traveling.
At the end of the day, though he's been ferried through hell on a ship that's ten thousand years old to some godforsaken, war-torn rock; though he deployed from high orbit with nothing but a grav chute; though he is one of ten million men and women snatched from his homeworld to fight a war he barely understands; though he has been given a weapon that fires small suns and may annihilate him as he fires because the knowledge of how it functions has been lost; though his company is supported by tractor-tanks that run on anything you can burn; though he wages war against a devouring hivemind, ravenous demons and hordes of hyper-advanced aliens with strange technologies and sorceries he never dreamed existed; no one will remember his sacrifice, there will be no records of his deeds, no glorious parades in his honor, and no remembrance of his name. All he will earn is a shallow, unmarked grave on a forgotten world untold lightyears from home.
Yet for all this thankless sacrifice a Guardsman is a man, just like you. He has no millennia-old genetic engineering, no prophetic leader, no miracles of faith. He has his lasgun, his orders, and those beside him. He is the Imperial Guard.
And he will hold the line.
- taken from the imperial guard page in 1d4chan
this is the reason i want u guard army! they must be the most honourable army in 40k if u ask me.
That was beautiful man😢
this is why i want a guard army! they have to be one of the most badass armies in 40k, simply because they have the courage that no one else would have.
“I murdered thousands for the Emperor and he gave me nothing except his damning silence. Now his lapdogs yap for every life I take, while the gods promise me the galaxy”
-Svane Vulfbad
The fact that a simple mortal Imperial guardsman can have more faith than one of the mighty grandchildren of the Emperor says quite a lot.
Horrible realities the guard has to face? Tyranids. Just watch starship troopers, just not the scenes where the heroes are there.
Some heroes die too , even with heroes a ton of soldiers die .
Without heroes they're fucked .
On the topic of guardsmen I had a legendary tabletop moment a few months back where I had a commissar attached to a squad with 2 catachan jungle fighters. There was a full squad of Ultramarine terminators next to a bastion (which my guard were occupying) and they were within rapid fire range. During my shooting phase I issued the first rank fire second rank fire order on the squad, in effect diving each squad 3 shots from their lasguns. All shots hit and half wounded the terminators (somehow they rolled 1's). The next turn they initiated a charge at my men when they were close enough. Funny thing though, they all had power weapons and we had bayonets meaning we attacked first, 3 terminators were alive to make the charge and 1 of them was shot to pieces during over watch and the last 2 made it to combat. Both my guardsmen attacked first, hit and wounded the terminators and they both rolled 1's. It's was so fucking spectacular I made sure I remembered who those guardsmen were and literally promoted them to commissars using green stuff and 2 lord commissar conversions kits. Since then they have been my lucky soldiers that never seem to die. IMPERIAL GUARD FOE THE WIN!
lol. i did a similar thing with my ogres for AoS. there was this one free people wizard who was annoying me and trying to blast my heroes to bits with his arcane bolt. in my turn one of my leadbelchers stepped out of his cover behind a ruined building, sniping the pesky wizard with his massive hand held cannon. i was so happy with this that i converted an ogre sniper character in the leadbelchers honour!
Elder Maxson They were Ultramarines Terminators, makes sense
Ash is right, try that with real terminators and the guardsman seem to die instantly.
Elder Maxson this was when i was new to 40k and had about 25 death korps of krieg and one raptor my friend was the tau empire he had 30 soldiers i went against him and guess who won
respect to you my friend, GUARD FOR THE WIN
Just for people who don't know. If an Imperial Guard regiment looses 99% of their men but achieves minimal victory, the battle is considered acceptable.
I have a question: who is the oldest guardsman who is still alive. also how awesome video game will be if you play as an imperial Guardsmen in a first person shooter.
The Emperor Of Mankind thank
Zozo Balls Sucker that was w joke. sly marbo is just most awesome guardsmen (he is subhuman if i remember correctly) OM Syndicate have a video about him
The Emperor Of Mankind oh.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
To play as sly marbo would be F*cking awsome

First I was about to like then I saw the heresy nice try slanash
I find it very hard to believe they're sculpted all their lives to be killing machines, otherwise they'd likely survive at least a week in a combat zone.
They are litteraly used as cannon fodder, thrown into the ennemy's face. Their only strengh is sheer number and they usually face xenos and these are super duper scary. They also have really shitty equipment ( one human live is consider to be the cheapest currency as vehicules and even missiles or such have to be manufactured on forge world and there is few of them still active )
yeah thats some bull. Tons of Guardsmen are just conscripts, from reasons "i just need some food" to "im literally forced to as part of a sentencing"
blasthunter5
They are recruited as a tithe from the local PDFs. It's understated that Imperial Guardsmen are the best of the PDF, their meant to be professionals
Guardsmen are chosen to be soldiers in the moments of their birth, everything they know from the start of their lives are walls of their academy and orders of their instructors. Ecxept for penal legions, they recive like 0 training, but in some rare occasions criminals have even more combat expirience than most guard veterans.
blasthunter5 GW made that lore so that the IG will not be too OP, though in some lore if used right with a great leader that has brain that leads them, they fucking wreck everything..that said leader also become a saint if I remember correctly..
6:19 very unusual thing to find in a video like this... XD
MasterChica1987 he ate 4 dozen eggs too many
XDD
The eggs have been tainted!
The story of Beauty and the Beast took place on an Imperial feudal world. Belle's father was a (non-chaos) heretek that experimented in creating rudimentary devices. The crone that cursed the Beast and his servants into their twisted forms was either a daemon of Tzeentch (caused change) or Slaannesh (cursed them into their twisted forms and forced them to experience extreme emotion to be "cleansed"). Gaston was merely trying to follow Imperial protocol. He was even pretty lenient in allowing Belle's father to live, since any official Imperial force would have likely outright killed him.
Question: I know it may depend on the regiment but if a Guardsman somehow survives to old age does she or he ever get to retire? Or is "KIA" the only retirement package?
sometimes yes, usually only if they managed to reach a high rank, which isn't impossible what with battlefield promotions; there are paradise planets they can retire to; usually it's too hard or undesirable to retire to the planet they came from; they might have forgotten where the planet was, it might be behind enemy lines, or they might have hated their home planet
Used to be. Ollanious Pius, considered the Saint of the Imperial Guard, earned the right to retire before the Horus Heresy.
Im pretty sure retirment is heresy in 40k
The Imperial Guard Omnibus is great for questions like this. There was a case of someone retiring by lottery, but for the most part KIA is retirement.
They probably see death as retirment as they see it as going heaven by sitting at the right side of the emporer, I mean they dont really live for themselves when a gaurdsmen may typicly be conscipted and never see their home planet again let alone family
Emperor protects!
But He Also Attac
FuckYouGuy but most important he is dead
yus
Ahh...Bullshit
With all the war that humans face, and the general lack of privacy, how do people finds enough time to bang, let alone raise a child? And with all the deaths that happen, how does the human population not enter a decline? Do humans breed like rabbits, or are they vat grown or something?
thegooddoctor2009 actually both. One humans under stress tend to have sex as a way to relieve that tension if for nothing more than a moment. Especially when they really don't have any luxuries at all to do in exchange. So that might play a part. Krigg regiments actually do have artificial wombs to boost their population since hey are a regiment making world.
not officially of course, mehcanicus never did find any trace of such artificial wombs.
bet its some fucked up Daemonculaba shit going on there.
Simple he over exaggerated the entirety of the imperium
Heretic. Service to the Emperor is most glorious.
Merrick..... A guardsmen life is to die, my job has always been to send them to places where they can die. I'm not afraid to spend them, but I never waste men.
Forever Virgin you are a true hero
Because of their sacrifice, the inquisitor has the proof she needs.
You DO have the proof you need, don't you, Inquisitor?
What proof? I was in Kyras's mind and can't tell you where he is.
Merrick was an incredible guardsman he and some others survived weeks in tyranid infested world
Merrick was my fav, he cared so much about the guardsmens death, plus their lives and had the balls to insult the commander and the Inquisition.
Everyone wants to live in the Star Trek universe or the Star Wars universe, which ever suits their fancy.
But WH40K? Who the hell wants to live in a galaxy that is literally going to HELL!?!? Aside from you psychos reading this...
Yeah I agree. I've never understood the fascination of WH40k, psychopathic humans that no longer are human.
DocWolph if you where a space marine. That would be cool
Hahahahahahahaha 😈 I would be a plague marine!!!!! Wait no no I dident mean it!
No one gets demonically possessed like gaston.
The average lifespan of a guardsman? 3.
2.
1.
Suggestion: Live of humans who sided with aliens or non-Imperial cultures (Tau, Eldar, even Orks...)
They already did one on Tau's humans.
Tau: Will live quite a peaceful life, though they'd be discriminated and not have as much rights/(seriously, you and your successors will never become a part of the ethereal caste. All the higher ups in the tau empire are tau! Seriously, discrimination is real in the tau empire.) Eldar? Though I haven't seen a book with such an occurrence, I can say that you'd be viewed as how us humans view a gorilla: Savage, crude, and dimwitted. Orks? Yeah... you'd probably know what'd happen there.
Fellow Man not really, exodites (those eldar living in actual planets) sometimes saves and let humans live in their planet as long as they wont bother them and lice separately from them..the Eldar though arrogant bastards are not genocidal maniacs unless it's necessary for them.. for the Orks living with Humans, their called Diggas so yeah not impossible as might think..
Tau are basically space commies.
They're considered traitors, death is the forgiveness we can offer to them.
The guard are not sculpted from birth to be killing machines, while it does occur on a few rare planets (death worlds or those under constant siege) many are conscripts from local planetary defence forces, taken from prisons (conscripts or occasional volunteers from penal colonies) or actual volunteers who believe that life in the guard would be better than their current conditions I.E. the underhive and attempt to go through the training.
Also the guardsmen are often taught incorrect propaganda about their foes through the Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer which is jokingly referred to as toilet paper by more veteran troops. (though use of the primer as such is punishable by death)

Question: What % of Imperial conflict across the galaxy is fought without the involvement of astartes?
99%
About 5%
An extremely large percentage. Relative to the actual size of the galaxy, and the inconceivable number of conflicts occuring, youd be pretty safe in saying only a fraction of a percent of engagements involve the space marines
An Imperial Guardsman will never see an Astarte, it is just not really possible... so probably 99.9%
99.9999%
Horrible Realities of the Death Korps of Krieg!
Medical Soldiers/leaders in the Astra Military!
Suggestion: I noticed all the Sisters of Battle tend to be white-haired and pale-skinned. Do they bleach they hair/skin in some sort of purity ritual?
question:what happens to missising ships lost in warp?
and what meta physically happens to ships who lose their gallifray?
lolz i think Gallifray is from Doctor Who, the home planet of the Time Lords; the word here is Gellar; the missing ships could have everyone onboard slaughtered, they could be corrupted by Chaos, they could have their occupants slaughtered and then inhabited by xenos, such as Orks or Genestealers; i dunno if you ever heard of the Warhammer 40K Space Hulk games but that's what they are, lost ships that turned up bearing nasties
Ships lost in the warp eventually run out of fuel or have their crew overrun, the warp is far smaller than realspace so they are eventually drawn to each others slight gravity and over thousands of years make a big ball of wrecks, genestealers are often on those because in the event that they seize control over a ship they can't pilot it so they just sit in hibernation until they detect new food
The warp is like a ocean inhabited by sea monsters except its had so much souls (demonfood) pumped into it for thousands of years that it's absolutely filled with them, the only reason that they aren't immediately overrun is that the ship has a bubble of realspace around it which makes it impossible for warp entities to get to it or it's warp presence is so low it doesn't attract attention
The guidance of the astronomican is the light of the emperor. However the paths are never clear with warp storms, daemon energy's, or even the few ships that can fight in the warp. The warp fields mostly work but as he said if they fail weird stuff happens. Sometimes ships can enter and never be heard from for ages. One ancient ship entered the warp prior to the heresy, only to reappear crewless sometime in the 42nd millennium. Their archeotech found made some salvagers governors of a small system.
average life of a guardsman: ain't nobody got time for that
Question: since belief in something by the masses is enough to make it to come true in the 40k universe is it possible to become god like if you get millions to believe in that?
Not all guard are trained to be soldiers at birth only a few worlds practice this including Krieg and what was once Cadia. Most comprice of volunteers or forced conscription.
the vid starts out with "trained from birth" no they arent. they are cannon fodder. not elite troops.
Depends. The Death Korps of Krieg are cloned and trained from birth to be cannon fodder, but they're the exception and not the rule.
But there are specialist regiments. The kreig death corps, the cadians that guard the eye of terror, the artic ork killers from the ice world of Valhalla, or the stealthy scouts of the Tanith first and only,. While they are sent where they are ordered, many will be sent where their skills are used the best.
but you DO get a free flashlight
I was talking to the wife about this last night actually and her response was "How are humans still alive?" Plot armor. lol
Suggestion, a video on the realities of being in the Space Navy!
Fact #21: Your counter-boarding security forces are severely undermanned and primarily equipped with pikes and shotguns. Their most common opponent is Orks.
Question: If 30k Imperial army and 40k Imperial Guard would meat head-on who would win the fight? Just some meatbags and and tanks, no navy or Astartes support.
What is the highest rank in the imperial guard an ordinary guardsman could reach?
Suggestion: 40 facts on Imperial Guardmen training!!!!
"Write about a Slanneshi cult soon." Ogod. Praise any other God, please.
*I feel this is more realistic universe, even there is devils and chaos~*
*_For me it was_*
If a Guardsman is smart/skilled/lucky/sneaky enough to not die on his first deployment, chances are he's good enough to last the rest of his campaign. That's what separates the veterans from the cannon fodder.
That is, unless gray knight/inquisition/whatever thinks the guardsman have seen too much.
Imperial star destroyer vs sword class frigate
sounds bad but to be honest, i would rather be a guard then a low class imperial citizens.
Question: What would happen if the 40k universe met the Dark souls universe?
Ace Xander who said they aren't connected. Hell they probably could fit it into the canon.
Connor Ruch that maybe true considering they're both really messed up ,but I'm just curious to see what would happen
" Taking it was easy, holding it will be hard "
A guardsmen life is To die
With the broad exception of conscripts and penal legionnaires, the vast majority of guardsmen are volunteers. 90%+ are male, with the majority of females being in female only regiments that are also usually not line soldiers, instead usually being dedicated logistical regiments, even in the relatively excepting 41st millennia. Warp travel is safe for the most part, with the exception of higher cases of hysteria. Warp travel, while taking varying amounts time to complete, is also quick and you can expect fleets to show up with each other within hours or days at most. This is not discounting the danger, but if you compared warp failure to commercial jet crashes you’d find warp travel to be as safe or only slightly less so. Guardsmen casualty rates are also extremely over hyped. To top it off, most books were written by non military people, and as anyone with access to the internet can tell you, very shallow. IIRC Armageddon had only 50,000 guardsmen and like 10,000 marines. 50k?! More people died in the Somme then guardsmen dedicated to “imperium ending” wars by BL writers.
Where did you get this info?
@@sethatkinson4724 ciaphas Caine + common sense
Man, I always thought it would be cool to live on the far future... but this is horrifying😂
Whats so horrible about serving our glorious God Emperor?
Suggestion Topic: Nationally or culturaly adapted 40K sets/chapters, like Polish Warhammer 40k Hussar's or Bavarian Orcs.
Is there any more Orc Lore? Im under the ipression that there are no really meaningful Orc names.
You could do a video on a guardsman experiance in training? I remember reading a while back (be it a black library book or something) of a guardsman being exicuted as an example for not properly cleaning his weapon. (It could have been the novel double eagle, but im not sure, it was AGES ago XD)
haha Supreme beings known as Space marines lol you guys should do a video on the Chaos Champions like Kharn, Lucius or Typhus. great vid
Question: what do you think about rougue primaris marines joining tau army?
and if the imperium of man goes against all that the Emperor stood for, isn't Tau empire better place for his true followers since they can be free of religion , pursue technological advancement and/or fight the enemies of mankind there?
The Tau basically have an organised religion being the Greater Good, the etherials being the top of it. They also don't allow people to branch out at what they are good at, you are forced into one thing forever.
that is not entirely true, the tau allow any other species in their empire to "keep" their religions and do not see Greater Good as a religion, more of a common cause or rather a way of life, you could compare Greater Good to capitalism/communism etc. but not to religion
also not allowing people to branch out concers mostly only Tau population and aliens (to the Tau) living on main worlds, human/alien colonies would have more freedom as long as they fill their quota as a whole
They allow them to keep a changed version of the original religion, we can only imagine how changed things would be to fit in with the greater good.
They do worship and have faith in the system and leaders, basically to the levels of a religion. They can't even question the leaders or go against a single word.
>Rouge primaris marines
Door is right over there, heretic
It's not that they can't question the leaders (excluding etherials), and they sure can do that, it's that questioning etherials is an alien thought to them, the thought that etherial is wrong doesn't even cross their minds as a result of etherial mind control (or whatever you wanna call it)
Sugestion: Imperial tank crew trainings/life/duty etc :)
You can’t really blame the ones that deflect to the Tau
GOD DANGIT WHERE THE HECK WAS THIS WHEN I WAS A KID!!!?!!
GUARDSMAN (2018) comes to mind!
So,if guardsmen are useless (in terms of combat)and only cannon feeder....then why not make them Cyborg and make them a runing bomb that can at same time fire at the enemy?
Or maybe replace them with B-1X battledroids ?they are far more usefull, have better sight, can construct billions if is needed and save a lot of space in ships and tanks..not mentioning they are stronger and can be Re-constructed if they died, they can't just died by 1 hit(unless in head and main battery),they can be easily transported, delivered and protected....they serve many roles(not just as cannon feeder but also a labour force)and unlike the standard B-1 this B1X have way better sighting systems, can run, more intelligent and can even be recharged more easily...
Not to mention if they come with B-2Super battle droids with flying impulsors and Wrist rockets(inmune to Bullets and can resist various plama hits and way more stronger)...or the ultimate infantry army:
8 million B-1X
2 million B-2 super battledroid
500k B-2 Cortosis superbattledroid(inmune to any weapon except for smash weapons)
200k vulture droids
100k B-X Commando droids
500 droid gunships
500 multiple missile launcher droid.
But no onw will agree with me,coz 500 million men are more cheaper
Your understanding of Imperial Guard lore is unfortunately very limited, and you shouldn't be making a video about it. I'll help you and your viewers out regarding the "raised from birth" bullshit you said
If you were to take 1000 planets in the Imperium, maybe 1 of them is known for its high quality troops. The other 999 worlds are tithed for troops that are conscripts. Sure, they might be unique in the way they look and the way they train, but some agriculture planet does not raise its children from birth to be killing machines
You are thinking of planets like Cadia, or Catachan or Tallarn, or Krieg.
If you all really want to know about what it would be like to be part of a poorly trained regiment from some no-name dump of a world, read the book 15 hours
T'au fire Warriors: treat their mooks with respect and prevent useless casualties.

The imperial guard is what is known as cannon fodder; I think it's a waste of resources wars 1st World War or Napoleonic Wars! Men against monsters like tyranids or the forces of chaos ... a disaster!
The film Event Horizon shows what happens when you traverse the warp without a gellar field.
No not all guardsmen are raised to be soldiers what are you talking about asspile of farmer conscripts and conscripts in general
I would love to see a video about some of the fabled Imperial Guard Heroes that the IG supposedly read about in their spare time
I think you meant "tourneqette on *mutilated and bloody stumps. Not Mutated* why would you tourneqette a mutated limb? Unless you amputated it.

Most imperial guard are Elite just put in perspective of space marines they are almost nothing. And for those taken from the pdf, the pdf are NOT inexperienced or bad as stated in recent codexes. There also not supposed to fight caos space marines or daemons as they are usually exucuted after, although certain worlds (cadia) keep there soldiers. and the lasgun, going more onto the lore side the lasgun is a very effective weapon as it doesn't jam and IT'S A BLOODY LASER NOT A CRAPPY AUTOGUN, it's just not effective against space marines or mahoosive nids. if your looking for this cannon fodder there called cultists
THIS IS HERESY!!!
Getting real tired of all these 'average lifespan = .002 seconds XDXD' comments. The Imperial Guard is a varied, massive force. Average survivability of a guardsman could range from literally dying as soon as you're recruited (Many Tanith), to surviving for decades battling in the name of the Emperor (the surviving Tanith).
Also, it's not mentioned that some Guardsmen actually live very enviable lives, like the Scintillan Fusiliers, who get first pick from the Administratum. (They're not all total wusses either.)
Youd do well to drop the weird cadence you read in. Just talk normal.
horrible realities of the life of the imperial guard? life of the imperial guard in general IS the horrible reality mate.
I would love to see the horrible reality of life among the various groups in Drakari (I'm probably not spelling that right) society. Also any horrible reality the Tau face would make us feel far better about the fact that the future has alien communists.
You got your very first fact wrong. While being trained from birth is more or less true for the Cadians, it isn't universal. The Armageddon Steel Legion, for instance, recruits many of its men from the hive gangs.
The imperium is not good.
The imperial guardsmen are trying as hard as they can.
Why does it sound like captain Zapp Brannigan is leading this army....
The hell? Gastone ?
Average Guardsman gets lasgun, uniform and helmet. That's all.
What happens to a guardsman who is a psyker?
The Inquisition finds him and carts him off. If he's lucky, he becomes part of an Inquisitor's retinue after training.
Here I thought the IG was just canon fodder.
A few questions.
Have to ask, how can everyone be drafted when cities still function?
How can so many want to flee when they supposedly have been raised to die for the Imperium?
How can the IG find time to fight orks, necrons, and more when they are so busy with their most "common" enemy-other regular humans?
Does the Inquisition still kill off any IG units that defeat chaos marines? As stupid as killing off your best units may sound I thought I've heard of the Inquisition doing this to prevent spreading chaos (by getting rid of those who just proved they can defeat it on a battlefield..)
Hi !
Do you Read Some Only war stuff (Role playing game) ? Because this is a chest of potential topic About our so loved IG ^^
Where did you get the images shown at 5:53 and 6:20 from? Though I see that the latter is a photoshopped Gaston from the movie "Beauty and the Beast".
Best way of successful survival, if you can’t become a Space Marine. Become a Skiarriti with bionic enhancement and better weapons.
You know, I can't comprehend why there arent any female imperial guard models... Need new basic cadian models please...
There should be a few female-only regiments to pick from, at least.
Real Men with Real Flashlights. Everyone else is just faking it.
Dude is there any lore about the power of chaos going against the necrons.
"Iv seen 10 482 troops die in a blink, im calling exterminatus on their asses' Commisar Auttha 32nd Armageddon steel legion
Unless you're part of the "All Guardsmen party".
Those Guardsmen actually try to use their brains to stay alive to fight another day.
Say they raise to from birth is a mistake, many books speak about levy on worlds to form new guard legions or the prison legion themselves
I still dont know what the hosts name is...."Gurrshwoarn"?
See the world they said.... or in to the barrel of a dakka dakka.
So basically marines from Aliens X Event Horizon?
Being an imperial guardsman is a lot like playing planetside 2. You run around for twenty minutes like you know wtf is going on, then as soon as you get to the front you get shot in the face by someone a thousand times better than you.
Suggestion : tau
