I love how this series became so infamous that the localization of the second Ace Attorney game used the "Well excuuuuuuuse me, princess!" line as an optional joke.

Spoilers for Skyward Sword: It's the first Zelda, but instead of going to Heaven afterwards to be with the Goddesses, she founded the Hylian race and kingdom of Hyrule with the first Link.
There was an episode where Link said the "well excuse me princess" line 5 times in a 4 minute span, I timed it, and it made me want to rip out my own skull. Also the characters of this show are (and were at the time) a dated pop culture reference, they're basically knock offs of a duo from a popular sitcom from a couple years prior.
Heres the truth. The "Link" in this show is from Quagmire's playthrough of the game. It's the Link between the game and him. Then again it could also be Brian.
I do think a Link that could talk can still work. Personally I could see a Zelda cartoon involve a more emotionally distant Link learning to open up with the help of friends he made while trying to stop Ganon or any other antagonist. If we do get another Zelda cartoon, by virtue of the Links across the games being different incarnations, why not have characters and elements from different games appear? Imagine seeing a Link who has to deal with Revali and Midna, had Volvagia as his pet like in the OoT manga, Mipha and Ruto competing for Link’s affections, etc.
The alternative is that he is just one of those shrinking violet types. And that he sometimes starts to talk, but always gets interrupted by Navi and/or some other fairy that tries to speak for him.
Laughed so hard at that opening. "A brown underwater horse with Pegasus wings." That's a Kirin (deer-dragon). It can have antlers or a unicorn horn. Spiders are land crabs. Crabs are sea spiders. They both taste good with lemon butter. Have you accepted Groose as your lord & savior?
I would have had Ganon be shrouded in darkness, a mystery, like he was depicted in the game's original manual. Link having a backstory involving Ganon where he's obsessed with revenge, and Zelda having a sort of Sherlock Holmes sort of attitude
Yeah, I'd prefer that over what Skyward Sword gave us, saying he's the manifestation of Demise's pure hatred meant to carry out his reign of terror after he died. That kinda made him less awesome of a villain to me.
Link is right-handed in two games: Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild. But those are the two games where he’s formally trained as a knight rather than self-taught, and more importantly, came out over 20 years after the cartoon.
Plus, Skyward Sword made heavy use of motion control swordplay, and controlling a left-handed sword with a right-handed Wiimote would be really awkward.
You could count Twilight Princess as a canonical instance of him being ambidextrous, he was left handed in the GameCube version, right handed in the Wii port. Same adventure, same Link, both hands. Or just a bizarro version of the whole world, because they flipped the map, if I remember correctly. It amused me because they literally moved heaven and earth to switch his dominant hand.
I think in Skyward Sword, the romance between Zelda and Link was the most believable. I know it's a school for bird knights, but it's pretty cute and because Link knows Zelda in that game, his quest to save her feels more personal. Zelda in the beginning before her disappearance tends to be a bit of a nag, but at least it's not this.
Eh. To me the best Link/Zelda relationship is the one in Minish Cap, though it's not romantic. Breath of the wild is a close second and can be seen as a budding romance.
Really? Skyward Sword she ended up only having a brief moment, then is pretty much out of the game till the end where she's pretty much just a means for Demise to get stronger.
I actually would like one more like Twilight princess where it's kind of a master servant. Of course not in a negative way but where Zelda acts more like a queen than anything and their relationship is professional more so than personal.

I can remember being in 4th grade and rushing home every Friday to catch as much of the Super Mario Bros Super Show Zelda episodes as possible. Good memories.
The ironic part about the Super Mario Brothers Super Show is that despite the cheese, at least it had something to go off of and was more vastly diverse despite running off of the same damsel in distress formula, but it worked for its time because it gave audiences something to look forward to despite The Legend of Zelda cartoon being cockteased like fuck. I'll admit, the previews for the cartoon on dvds really made me want to watch it, but knowing that it tried to go for the same aesthetically pleasing thing is really off-putting because it just thinks that it can get away with doing the exact same thing, despite being its own thing, which kinda makes for a shitty concept.
Actually Link is right handed in both Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild as well. Smash Brothers even changed him to be right handed when they went with the BotW version of Link in Ultimate.
I’d love to see a proper Zelda animated series someday by the team that made Avatar. Maybe have the story be a spin on BOTW, with Link, Zelda and the other Champions forming a Team Aang-like dynamic.
We were supposed to get one, before even the mario thing next year. But netflix leaked, nintendo pissed its pants, sobbbed and pounded the floor and had everything cancelled.
Dan someone please tell me; why is this series called the Legend of Zelda? Yes branding but why was the first game called this at all? There is no legend to speak of since the story seems to imply cause and effect rather than some prophecy.
@@seanobrien3301 ok know what? now I'd like ta see a Metroid anime by them why? because Samus Aran needs an anime XD (there are pretty good manga and Non-H doujinshi for Metroid out there they are just extremely hard ta find )
In the original Zelda games the official religion of Hyrule was Christianity as can be seen with the various crosses, bibles as artifacts, art of Link praying before a statue of Christ, and literal churches in some villages. So it would make sense that in the time the cartoon was made that Christmas would be a thing in Hyrule.
So the CD-i game pulled from this cartoon when they did the "How about a kiss, for luck?" "You've got to be kidding" "SMUG" and then Gwonam keeps the status quo by interrupting the apparent kiss at the end of the game to which Link says "I guess that's worth a kiss huh?" "HAH!" Wow the lore runs so deep in that abomination of a game :) The CD-i games are sequels to the cartoon!
8:52 to be fair, Christianity appears throughout the Zelda series. In the first game, crosses mark graves and the big shield. Link to the past literally has you pray the father, son and holy spirit to get to the second temple.
Christianity appears in the first three games, but was completely replaced by the Three Goddesses starting in Ocarina of Time. So it does not exactly " appear throughout the series" but yeah, the games at the time this cartoon came out had Christianity as the intended religion of the franchise, so Christmas getting mentioned among other things makes a lot of sense.
@@melkhiordarkfell4354 I believe RoMorris is talking about the point in the game where you have to use the "Magic Book" (Bible) to open one of the dungeons.
@@melkhiordarkfell4354 to open the second temple in the desert, you need a book from a library in kakariko to tell you to wish the entrance to open. Artist game girl on UA-cam made this Zelda parody cartoon called hero high. Zelda is the main protagonist in that show and it’s really refreshing with that concept. It’s on her UA-cam channel, artist gamer girl. There’s only 3 episodes though and they’re very short
@@kellywhite3501 Actually now that you mention it, I kinda see it. Both have characters in high school with magical creatures. And I can see why you're reminded of Star Butterfly with the size of their eyes being similar + a similar animation flow.
My friend and I made a drinking game out of this show. Basically, you take a drink every time: -Link says "Excuse me, Princess" -Link asks Zelda for a kiss -Ganon teleports -There's an animation error -Someone makes a bad pun
Well, even though this and the SMB cartoon were bad, they were still very entertaining as a kid and I have fond memories of both. Mario was clearly the better and more memorable, but when you have Captain Lou Albano and "Do the Mario" for the credits it's easy to see why.
The videogame-to-tv adaptation that spawned a million memes. Also, the voice actor of Link in this show would go on to portray a character in the Horror film Jason X. Just a neat bit of trivia for you.
If I could be the director of a Legend of Zelda cartoon or the like, it would be more like Samurai Jack, right down to having Link go on for minutes on end without speaking. Plus Ganondorf or the like getting the Aku treatment would be nice, make him both intimidating yet funny at times would be rather welcome.
I have never wanted to see a fan project like this more than anything in my life... Course...knowing Nintendo, THAT would be the TRUEST TEST for a Hero of Courage! X3
I personally don't mind the idea of a talking Link. They should have given him a more serene, calm personality, in fact, I think Breath of the Wild did a bit that, even though Link is still not speaking in that game. But on this show they basically turned him into an annoying jerk.
The N64 titles show what Link's willing to do to help the people around him(I know Link is mostly a different incarnation among the games but generally he’s willing to go the extra mile to help others no matter what reincarnation) In the case of Majora's Mask, making them think their heroes are still alive so they don't fall into complete despair or helping Kafei who was turned into a little boy reunite with his bride despite the moon just about to crash into the world. So why would someone this heroic act like a bratty teenager obsessed with getting laid?
It's ironic how I was watching the Death Battle between Link and Cloud (The New One) and this gets shown as the next atrocity. Excuse me princess indeed.
I was going to say Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker. I mean, how can you go wrong with a Princess who moonlights as a ninja or a pirate. I imagine those Zeldas must be pretty ripped under their fancy dresses.
Ganon: The only way Zelda could see Link as a ghost is if she's in love with him! Mr. Enter: *visible confusion* Me: So she's a tsundere in this cartoon
"Rubies can't be yellow." Technically, they can. Rubies and Sapphires are made from the same mineral, corundum. They only turn red if something like chromium is present when it's forming. They can actually turn yellow if iron is present when forming.
Rubies get their color from Chromium and Sapphire gets the blue from Titanium. Green Sapphires get it from Iron. White sapphires have zero impurities. Rarely a Corundum is both a ruby and Sapphire
A Zelda animated series in this day and age could actually work given the right talent behind it. I mean, look at Netflix Castlevania. That series was amazing.
"Link has always been left-handed ... except in the Wii port of _Twilight Princess._ That one doesn't count." Well, there's also _Skyward Sword_ and _Breath of the Wild..._ And presumably BotW2. SS has the same excuse as the Wii version of TP in that it was only made that way since the game uses motion controls and most people are right-handed, but I have no idea why they did it for BotW.
I think it’s primarily because the attack button is mapped to “Y” button instead of the “B” button, and as such, Link had to be right handed the mirror the button placement.
@@AkameGaKillfan777 Naturally. If there's one thing GameGrumps excels at, it's making good games look bad for the sake of "comedy" and causing the franchise to get dragged through the mud as a result. Just look at Sonic and how much damage they've caused to that franchise as a result of their horrendous playthroughs of 3D Sonic games.
Fun fact: there is apparently a Christ-like figure in the Zelda universe. Link not only carries a Bible and a shield bearing the cross on it, but there is official art of him kneeling before a crucifix in prayer in ALttP. There’s also a figure closely resembling the Buddha in the Ancient Cistern of “Skyward Sword”. Either they’re Hyrulian counterparts of their real-world influences, or these holy figures also exist in both worlds, similar to Narnia’s Aslan.
I vaguely remember a few of these episodes playing in the mornings when I was really young. The only other thing I remember from it, apart from Link always trying to kiss Zelda, was a running joke where Zelda would always be just about to grab Ganon's triforce before Link pulls her away saying there was no time.
Whoever edited your video, Mr. Enter, deserves a Comedy Award! This video is so hilarious that I feel like I'm watching a UA-cam Poop/Cartoon Review! 😂😂😂
no this makes perfect sense the entire show takes place after breath of the wild 2 at the end of that game (trust me my dad works at Nintendo) Gannon gets resurrected and uses the Triforce to make everyone in Hyrule in idiot and for there to be no internal logic within the universe
13:13 Okay, yes, please elaborate on how the OoT Zelda is the worst. At least, I'm assuming that's what you're saying here. Yeah, she was a dumb kid and gets captured the instant she reveals herself, but don't forget that she has her own adventure as Sheik, even if we never see it.
For those of you who know or watched Spaceballs, then you might know of the Spaceballs tv show (idk what it’s really called) And based on other people’s opinions and the Wikipedia page for it, I can assume that it’s kinda shitty tho and that it would make a great episode of Animated Atrocities
Oh, no. No. Why did you remind me of what my mind repressed? Yes, it is shitty. So so very shitty. I'll stick with the movie because the cartoon is a waste of animation cells that is better left forgotten.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't have nostalgic love for this cartoon. I had a tape of this cartoon with the wonderfully cheesy Live action Super Mario show.
Link in the video games: A silent, courageous hero. Link in the cartoon: A douchebag simp that never shuts up. Zelda in the video games: A very intelligent princess. Zelda in the cartoon: An ungrateful bitch.
Link and Zelda also make appearances (though they were a fair few years older and mature) in season 2 of Captain N the Game Master series. The Captain N cartoon is also worth a look especially for the 4 Zelda cameo episodes where they finally incorporated the Triforce of Courage.

Don't forget 3DS Master Quest
The artwork in the early Zelda manuals was drawn by a former Ghibli animator who worked on Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
Oh, cool! :-)
I’d love to see a proper Zelda animated series someday by the team that made Avatar. Maybe have the story be a spin on BOTW, with Link, Zelda and the other Champions forming a Team Aang-like dynamic.
Or the team that worked on the Castlevania animated show on Netflix
We were supposed to get one, before even the mario thing next year. But netflix leaked, nintendo pissed its pants, sobbbed and pounded the floor and had everything cancelled.

Dan someone please tell me; why is this series called the Legend of Zelda? Yes branding but why was the first game called this at all? There is no legend to speak of since the story seems to imply cause and effect rather than some prophecy.

Totally makes sense

@@thedaemonwolf1814 right. I meant the series at the time.

My friend and I made a drinking game out of this show. Basically, you take a drink every time:
-Link says "Excuse me, Princess"
-Link asks Zelda for a kiss
-Ganon teleports
-There's an animation error
-Someone makes a bad pun

Probably when they passed out XD

Well, even though this and the SMB cartoon were bad, they were still very entertaining as a kid and I have fond memories of both.
Mario was clearly the better and more memorable, but when you have Captain Lou Albano and "Do the Mario" for the credits it's easy to see why.
You also had Don Adams as Inspector Gadget in there too
In the Animation industry DIC stands for "Do It CHEAP!"
One video had Link's lines replaced with Beavis and the King with Butthead. You'd be surprised how much better that makes the show!
I know exactly what you're talking about.
My favorite quotes from Link is "Huht, Tek! Hyaaaah!"
The videogame-to-tv adaptation that spawned a million memes.
Also, the voice actor of Link in this show would go on to portray a character in the Horror film Jason X. Just a neat bit of trivia for you.

And possibly the worst tsundere next to Louise from Familiar of Zero.
"Rubies can't be yellow."
Technically, they can.
Rubies and Sapphires are made from the same mineral, corundum.
They only turn red if something like chromium is present when it's forming.
They can actually turn yellow if iron is present when forming.
The doom magnet was in oracle of ages and leveled a tower, perhaps the show had a bigger legacy than one would expect.
Fun fact: Rubies are actually red sapphires. Sapphires can be any color EXCEPT red.
Rubies get their color from Chromium and Sapphire gets the blue from Titanium. Green Sapphires get it from Iron. White sapphires have zero impurities. Rarely a Corundum is both a ruby and Sapphire

What a legend Mr. Enter is for reviewing this

A Zelda animated series in this day and age could actually work given the right talent behind it. I mean, look at Netflix Castlevania. That series was amazing.
"Link has always been left-handed ... except in the Wii port of _Twilight Princess._ That one doesn't count."
Well, there's also _Skyward Sword_ and _Breath of the Wild..._ And presumably BotW2. SS has the same excuse as the Wii version of TP in that it was only made that way since the game uses motion controls and most people are right-handed, but I have no idea why they did it for BotW.
The same reason why you can't climb in the rain and your weapons break after like 10 hits.
It fucking sucks that Nintendo didn't have an option for left-handed people for skyward sword.
Link was formerly trained as a Hylian soldier in BOTW, so that might explain why.
They made him right handed so he would stand out from the other links.
I also headcanon that Twilight Link is ambidextrous.
I think it’s primarily because the attack button is mapped to “Y” button instead of the “B” button, and as such, Link had to be right handed the mirror the button placement.
22:12 ironically, Breath of the Wild / Age of Calamity would include Magnets with the Magnesis rune

Do yourself a favor and avoid the GameGrumps playthrough like the plague
@@AkameGaKillfan777 Naturally. If there's one thing GameGrumps excels at, it's making good games look bad for the sake of "comedy" and causing the franchise to get dragged through the mud as a result. It's a good day when Mr. Enter uploads.
Man, with the portrayal of Zelda in this show, I can see why Dorkly made the Legend of Karen shorts.
I love the more silly editing style in this review. Fits the show perfectly--it only works for memes and UA-cam poops
I vaguely remember a few of these episodes playing in the mornings when I was really young. The only other thing I remember from it, apart from Link always trying to kiss Zelda, was a running joke where Zelda would always be just about to grab Ganon's triforce before Link pulls her away saying there was no time.
Honestly I've always had this show as a guilty pleasure
