Thank you, man. I was 14 when they were on top although ridiculed as "cheesy musicians" . I always remained faithful to this day, though, meanwhile it turned out they were geniuses. Greetings from Poland.
Thanks a million, Niall. If I were doing it again, I'd compress the bass a bit more aggressively and put a high pass filter over it. You can't really hear the bass on a small speaker, like a phone, so I should've pushed the 800hz band a bit too, but it's grand for the moment.
I love to play along these songs... I also like Duran Duran's bass lines and many others from that era. It's funny to see people's reactions when they find out because I play bass in a metal band.
The perils of mounting your phone on a stand with two pieces of gaffer tape! 😁🤣🤣 I'm glad you like it, brother. It's a beautiful, beautiful song; always brings tears to my eyes.
Fair play. Love it. As an ex youth orchestra player I knew the pulse and mayo in the musical Sandwich were the bass players. Followed by fab percussionists.
@@MichaelJSynnott I have seen a lot of great bass covers of this song and i'll tell you Mike yours is up there with the tops. Great bass tone too! The cat in my profile picture her name is Mimi. Sorry to hear that Mira is no longer with you. I do hope you have another kitty.
@@Mark72672 Well, thank you so much for that comment, Mark - I truly, truly appreciate it. Mimi is beautiful. I brought Mira to be put to sleep at age 16 a few years back and I've not been able to bring myself to get another cat since. Perhaps one of these days. Thanks again, man!
@@MichaelJSynnott Yes I understand. I've been down that road before Brother and I know it's not easy. The last time just 2 years ago with a cat that had been with us 18 years. I too had that same feeling. But I just love them too much that within a month or so I had another one with me. Perhaps one day again for you Mike sooner rather than later! I hope. 🙂
Brilliant Mike. Rutger Gunnarsson in my opinion was very important for making the "Abba sound", and is one of my favorite bass player. I think I immediately hear when he is playing, because his special bass lines. Here he is, not long time before he passed away, in case you have not seen it: ua-cam.com/video/B139-IqKcqg/v-deo.html
Thanks Stefan. He was a truly brilliant bassist, combining incredible feel with fantastic melody - playing first and second inversions instead of roots, and sometimes tracking the vocal melody at exactly the right time. I believe he was also ABBA's primary arranger and that he scored the orchestral sections. A musical genius. I have many ABBA songs in my bass repertoire, and they are all a joy to play. The final chorus of Dancing Queen always brings tears to my eyes when I play it, the notes he chose are that brilliant. Thanks again, Stefan.
@@MichaelJSynnott Yes, Rutger played varying with a lot of taste. And the 2-3 guitarists Abba hired also was very good (e.g. Janne Schaffer one of my favorite guitarists). Abba had the money to get the best 😉. As a curiosity I saw Abba playing live in a "folk park" in a small village called "Storebro" (900 habitants) on the countryside in Sweden around 1977 I think. Only the four members with backing tracks. Only about 300 people in the audience. After they got famous. Incredible that it took place. Probably because Bjorn grew up not far away from there. See you in Spain some day or another and play some fun 🙂
UA-cam algo always brings me here. Awesome. Thank you, sounds so good.

Thanks for celebrating the work of the great Rutger Gunnarsson. This is an outstanding cover of his great work. 👍😎
Praise indeed! Thanks very much! Incidentally, the cat in your profile pic looks exactly like my late cat, Mira.

Interesting interpterion. You missed a few runs and the famous accidental C natural towards the end. Other than that, it had groove, man.
