  • On Twitch I did a live stream starting with the result of the E-Mu SP1200 breakbeat tutorial.
    Lets see what happened in these edited highlights :)

    I just put my order in for a Rossum and your videos have given me a lot of insight into what to expect from the workflow, and yeah, it’s slow but really satisfying

    Super cool! Worth finishing into a real track to release.

      You are right, it would be possible to extend it and make it better generally. I will get to that :)

    Hey Gwem, how do u like that sp1200 midi converter? They are so hard to find and I’ve seen em sell for half the price of an SP1200. I love your channel and would love to see more SP1200 stuff.

      the midi device is not essential, but it does make certain things quite a bit easier. so I like it overall. heard they got expensive these days

    I see you have a few boxes above your right monitor. One I recognize as an Alesis Micro something or other, what are the others and how do you use them? I recently acquired a Microgate to make some analog gated trance pads triggered by a muted drum machine pattern for Mellotron sounds on a Nord i just sold in favor of an OB-6. Still learning what it can do.
    Your videos are really great and helpful, this one especially since I’m waiting on the arrival of an Isla s2400, and your workflow demonstrated with the 1200 has been a massive eye opener to what I can look forward to with a similar machine. Thanks man! Sounds amazing for real!

      One of them is an Alesis Nanoverb which I typically have on the chorus setting.
      The other two are FMR Audio compressors. There is an RNC and a RNLA. I choose one depending on the song. I like the RNLA for breaks and the RNC for 4/4 stuff.
      The Isla SP2400 looks really good. Never tried one. Hope you have fun with it :) :)
      Thanks for the comment!

    I have problems with musical theory... Can you tell me the chord progression?... And wich is the best progression for rave music?, thanx...

    • @gwEmbassy
      @gwEmbassy  3 роки тому +1

      The chords are described around 6:25.
      I don’t think there is a best progression for rave, it’s more about choosing the right sounds and building a song round those.

    You mentioned the SP1200 having a customisable scale that comes in a major scale controlled by sliders: at 27.57 time stamp in the video. How did you teak the scale to become a minor scale? This would be very useful/helpful to know how you work this out if you sampled in the key of C. Cheers your video great stuff!

    • @gwEmbassy
      @gwEmbassy  3 роки тому

      You just flatten three of the notes to convert the major scale to the minor scale.

      Ah so if I remember on my SP1200 the route note is always on key [5] of the SP1200 when I enter multi pitch mode. So, if my sample is in the key of C then I flatten the key pads 3, 4 and 7 to give me A, B and E flat for C minor. To flatten the notes am I moving then slider down "one notch" for the key pads 3, 4 and 7 by half a tone to result in the C minor scale?
      Sorry to ask I just want to get this right before starting a new project.

      SP1200 multipitch mode
      1 2 3 4 [5] 6 7 8
