- Straight out of the dungeons of boom bap, we bring you a pioneer of the culture, Easy Mo Bee.
After linking up on the West Coast at Amoeba Music, LA, we joined the Brooklyn native to dig through the crates, flip wax, and whip up a beat the #RhythmRoulette way. Record selections included music from Freddie Mitchell, Herbie Mann, and The Marvelettes.
The #GrammyAward winning #HipHop and R&B Record Producer has collaborated with artists spanning from era to era - The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, Craig Mack, Kurupt, Big Daddy Kane, Ras Kass, Wu-Tang Clan, Mos Def, Black Rob, Sean Price, Wiz Khalifa, and Alicia Keys (to name a few). So without further adieu, sit back, and watch a maestro get busy on the SP-1200.
“Call this pre-production.”

Artist: Mass Appeal - Розваги
The legendary producer who got to work with Pac, Biggie and Miles Davis while they were all still alive! Big props to Mass Appeal for this one. Please give this man all of his flowers while he is still here with us
Das Efx, Craig Mack, Kool G Rap, Busta Rhymes...
The Flava in Ya Ear
this guy is a LEGEND
I know that’s right, this guy here , you can put him in the category of the best to ever do it !!!!!!!!! Hands down
He worked with tha alkaholiks too
THIS MAN DESERVES WAY MORE RESPECT!!!!!!! He’s one of the Greats!!
I can't imagine what rap would've sounded like in the 90s without him...
Possibly the most underrated producer of all time
fax
yup
This is gonna be me at 60. Even as a hobby, I ain’t stopping 😂😂. Much respect Easy 👍🏾
His beat for Busta Rhymes “Everything remains raw” 🔥🔥🔥
My fav!!!
I'm not sure if yall know how legendary this is. Easy mo bee is almost 60 and still making heat like this. shout out to Mass Appeal for real.
You should get better with experience
This beat trash yo
I’m 21 trust me i know
why would age even matter. 🤣🤣🤣 music knows no age.
Real G right here. Made so many hits and still underrated fr
Puffy owes him for life. He jump started Bad Boy records. He probably only paid him like 5g's and no publishing for his contributions to Bad Boy. He should be paid to this day. But I'm sure he's not. Thank you for the classics and more. Keep it up. Your ear is sick. This stuff you did with PAC was sick too. Flowers is a understatement.
100% agree. I think he still gets royalties off of "Flavor In Ya Ear" because the sample has never been revealed.I also watched an interview where Mo Bee said he screamed at Puff for not paying him, and that was the end of their relationship. At the end of the day, it is ego which fuels these falling outs, They don't call it the music BUSINESS for nothing.
@@ransmomebloke1949 dude, the screaming wasn’t part of it, the ripping off was. Don’t get it twisted. Think the magic dragon actually produced all those hits?
@@ransmomebloke1949 nah, the sample is from O'donel Levy. It's only like two notes.
@@johnhindle9150 but it was cutted, that no one in the 90s ever reconized it.
Fairly sure I seen him posting he still gets royalties off ‘Gimme the loot’. Travis Scott and a few others recently sampled it so I’d say he gets paid well off that
Best one yet. No Ableton or FL studio, no VSTs. Just a dude killing it with hardware. Respect
we all in the end , will end up in the Software one way or another
@@YoungBlaze yep
@@YoungBlaze true but to make it from scratch no daw and chop it up the way he doing it is very talented
I think it takes mad talent no matter how you do it. There's more options with software, and it makes some things easier, but at the end of the day what makes a beat really bad is the attitude and inspiration of the producer who is cookin it up, and the rappers and DJs who spit and scratch on the beat to make it really shine to the fullest!!
peace
All of it was ends up on software. Whether it's hardware or computer. The thing that matters the most is mind and talent behind the ideas.
An absolute legend right here 🔥👏🏼 Give Easy Mo Bee his flowers!!!
🗣️💯🫡
Man!!! I could just imagine Big or Pac flowin to that beat! EMB is LEGENDARY!!! 💯
Easy Mo Bee needs his flowers he’s up there on my list of greatest producers ever still killing it with the SP-1200 a genius Salute 🔥🔥🔥
Legend right here. Respect the architect
Yea this dude makes BANGERS! This dude is a Jedi wit that SP 1200
One of the greatest producers of all time. He's not mentioned enough, Salute!
Nah, fam. He's NOT. Very valid point, sir.
Because Puffy blackballed and ruined this guys career.
But if you know, then you know.....
Facts, brother!
Hells Yes Salute!!!!!!!
The SP-1200 has a sound, no other beat machine/sampler has.
The fact that he still uses it is incredible to me.
@@mattv.4089 a lot of producers still use it.
It feels very limiting. I like new sounds.
@@MrML4Lsound wise it’s not limited. Its a sampler so you can basically use any sound you can find (within 20 seconds of sampling time on the new Rossum). Feature wise it is limited but that adds to the fun of it. Makes you more creative
Because it's a 12-Bit sampler. Being less than the CD quality 16-Bit, it gives a grainy, dirty, warm sound. Nothing like it in the world.
Mo Bee is a humble icon and still making bangers. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
what up stacks
Fr, EMB such a cool dude.
Not a DAW in sight. Gotta respect the old school methods. Easy Mo Bee made some of my favourite tracks in the 90s. Salute!
That board looked crazy
Truuueee.
Straight to the SP without hesitation. Gotta respect it
@@lewdash4566 How much that cost?
DAW?
When he played that drum loop, I knew it was up from there 😩🔥
He basically created another biggie track. Thank you Beloved. Thank you for sharing. Easy MO Legendary BEE
The best boom bap producer of golden era. Salute Easy Mo Bee
Sampling master. That beat is actually fire. Still rocking the Sp1200
I appreciate the variety of producers on this show, it’s not just boom bap producers, they give every generation a spotlight.
As they should. We need more 80's & 90's Producers on this channel though. The producers who actually play instruments & can program / sequence an actual synthesizer. I wanna see those types of cats, anybody can click in notes on any DAW & call it music 🤷🏼♂️💯
@@ASAPJermz True that!
@@ASAPJermz How many synthesizers and other instruments were played in this video? Lol
I love boom bap and especially Easy Mo Bee but let's not be pretentious, DAWs are more sophisticated and versatile. It's not about the tools though, it's how you use them.
@@ASAPJermz Agree I wanna hear more 80s producers. DAWs are great tho, dont hate.
@@ASAPJermz No.. Anybody definitely can't.
Sheesh. He makes that approach to music production look like a complete cakewalk. Major salute to a supreme legend.
Top 3 Hip Hop Producers of All Time!...Period!!
Now I need some special drink for this occasion.
Next we need Pete Rock. ✊🏽
One of my all time favorite producers in HipHop. Him, Prince Paul, RZA, Hank Shocklee/the Bomb Squad, Howie Tee, Just Blaze, Audio Two, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, and Marley Marl just to name a few are some of the greatest East Coast HipHop producers ever in my book.
Shocklee 🤧🔥🔥
Three records ain't enough for the bomb squad, they use like 12 records 😂
Havoc aswell 😂 but the list can go on
El-P , The Alchemist, Big Boi.
I'm so happy that Rhythm Roulette is back !!!!
One of the Best producers of all time Mo Bee legendary and necessary...
Flava in ya ear is the greatest hip hop beat ever made!!!
Nah "Rebel without a pause" Is the one you're looking for
@@The-G.O.A.T can’t argue with that one either haha
@@The-G.O.A.T Salaams; I absolutely agree! IMHO the 2 best 12’ inch Hip hop singles ever released are “Rebel Without A Pause “ - Public Enemy &. “I KNOW YOU GOT SOUL “-Eric B & Rakim….
Hits so different when the LEGENDS show you how they did it...and STILL do it! Blessings to Mass Appeal and the GAWD Easy Mo Bee! This was a FYE episode!!!!!🔥
Legends have been doing it non stop.
Easy Mo Bee is my second best HipHop producer behind Premo! My favorite beat of all time foe me is flavor in your Ear by Craig Mac. I listen to that at least twice a week.
And he still rock the SP-1200 😱😬😷 holy sh**. That thing only has like 5 second sampling time. Dude is a beat maker old G for real.
Salute Mo Bee 🔥🔥🔥🔥👍💯👊 respect
Og sp1200 has 10 seconds. The new sp got 20sec
My mannn 5:05 to 5:10 that’s the melody right thereeee!👀🤷🏾♂️🔥… big legend tho! I just wish his was a little bit longer! I love seeing him work
Right?? 🥲
Y’all deserve a Grammy for this one
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Once I seen this I clicked so fast
BROOOO... Where at Lamar, Cole, Beyonce, Jay Z, etc, to put this legend in they next album tracklist to give him a well deserved Grammy?
One of my all-time favorite producers
He gets left off the “greatest” conversation too much
I'm not gon' lie, that beat was actually fire!! Its 2022 and that "unfinished track" probably hits harder than 90% of the stuff thats out right now! This my friends is what REAL hip hop is! Just straight raw and gully! Keep that heat coming bro!
Finally an actual producer (legend). Thank you.
Insane to see Easy Mo Bee on here, definitely an inspiration and also RZA’s production. Watching this on my phone and to my right my SP-1200 as well 👀
imagine going back in time and see this man work .... legend ....
this man made Temptations . no one can top that. youre humble;ity is out of this world, certified goat
mann this dude is an inspiration from day one... Temptations is my fav Tupac beat .... and them Biggie joints... Thank you so much for this...
We Need

Add pooh on here tho
iconic. legend. thank you easy mo bee.
The most underrated producer of all time.
Yup, just watched a living legend. Amazing, thanks Easy Mo Bee & thanks to Mass Appeal.
Easy Mo Bee like a brother under me said, is mad underrated!! He doesn't get enough credit at all. And while I myself have Pete Rock as my favorite all time producer, Easy Mo put in work for the culture!! I love how simplistic his beats are but yet I know he put in work to make the puzzle come together! Flava In Ya Ear is an example of that!! Props & love to the brother because he's still putting into the culture!! Thanks again Mass Appeal, another dope session by one of the greats!!👊🏾💯
He definitely doesn't bro I didn't even know this man existed until now. And I love his instrumentals! It's crazy how someone like Timbaland can get so big but Easy Mo Bee 🐝 can't? 🤦🏼♂️💀 Respect 💯
who said he's underrated??? Easy Mo is a LEGEND in the production world. People study him over PR and mad other dudes, even Dilla. He got the ESSENTIALS of a hip-hop beat DOWN before ANYONE.
@@juniorg296 I've been producing for 23 years now & study music credits like a kid on Saturday bored reading the ingredients on the box of cereal. And I've NEVER even seen or heard anybody mention him or pay homage. He's *HIGHLY* underrated in the music community as a whole 💯
💯
Great comment
I needed this. And he’s on the SP1200! Get Lord Finesse, Extra P, Diamond D on here too. 🔥
My favorite producer of all time
I don't think anyone else even comes close to what Bee can do on the
sp . Much respect always to Easy Mo Bee .
A legend. From his rap work to the Miles Davis album.
Liked video without even watching what he made because I know it’s going to be fire
Luvvv Easy Mo.....1 of my Fav producers...he so humble.,..and glad to c like most Realllll HipHoppers...we gon be doin this chit til we die...70yrs old still making beats and chit

Finally a real producer with some pedigree!!!

Yeah it was getting scary here for a minute
Exactly!! F these mouse clicking fruity producers without soul....

I see you got a GOAT for this one.
One of greatest to ever touch hip hop, the perfect definition of watching a master at work.
This brother is the real deal beat maker. One of the best. I hear you easy mo 🐝 bee.
Very sick episode with a legendary producer. Nice to see he has that new Rossum SP1200!!
Thank you!!!!! Actual talent...The man didn't have to outsource any part of this! Rap'n Is Fundamental..(for those who know) respect!
Rappiiin', rappin', rappiiiiin' is fundamental! 🙃
Easy mo bee is such a dope producer 🙌🏽 love his work with pac and big
My favorite producer and #1 inspiration.🙏
Finally a legendary OG in the game
Legend. The fluidity and calmness in his technique makes this so dope to watch. That was awesome.
The golden era still leading the way!
Everything was flames coming from this man hands in the 90s.
That was for real. No sample packs. Just a SP and some records.
Thank you for finally showcasing one of the most underrated and coldest producers who defined BIG's sound on Ready To Die 🙏🏼
A master at his craft!!!!!! Best is so clean!
LEGEND MADE BEATS FOR BOTH BIG AND PAC
A full demonstration on the art of sampling here. Legendary
An underrated legend!
This is why Mo Bee is one of my faves of all time!! ✊🏽🔥
Rhythm Roulette features a lot of talented newcomers, but this guy.. he's on another level. You can tell he's been doing that for decades, it's in his DNA
Wow I never knew who actually produced a lot of those Biggie & Pac records this is so dope to see! Especially because he still has a Boom Bap style / workflow with the SP1200 & using actual vinyls! Love this episode even though it's super short 💯🎶🔊
Word ✌️
so much with so little sampling time. I love this. The older samplers forced us to be more creative.
Easy has NOT lost a step. Just showed why he was able to craft so many legendary records for a reason. Even if it's just pre-production. The vibe was classic and crazy. Takes you back to the Ready To Die era of Biggie.
I can definitely hear Busta rhyming to this beat
Liked this before I even watched! G.O.A.T. 🐐
His expression when he put that first album on is priceless.
This Rhythm roulette video is one of the most important. Easy Mo Bee is one of the guys on Mount Rushmore when u talk about authentic boom bap. Such a legend. ALL his tracks are bananas from 2Pac to Biggie to Gang starr. There's not one seriously not one bad track from this man! And he had to bring it using the tool of choice..SP1200..Respect!!
Gangstarr ?

Love to see older hands on vinyl records and sampler. Mo Bee is a legend.
Bro this guy is a LEGEND. He doesn’t get enough appreciation seriously
to be able to witness a legend at work in my lifetime is a blessing, thank u mass appeal
This man is imho one of the greatest to ever touch the sp12 💯. I would have killed to see his sampling process, but I completely understand and respect why that wasn’t shown. I’ll be on my S2400 for the rest of day, so inspiring to anyone who’s grown to love that sound.
Him Pete, Quik and 'Cat ...nobody else
@@michaelbrooks3650 absolutely, especially Pete the man’s a gawd 💯.
@@michaelbrooks3650 there’s way more cats to list than just them. Muggs, Marley Marl, Madlib, Bomb Squad, Organized Noize, Large Professor, etc.
@@mlaws11291 oh no doubt!!! That's just merely an opinion. I'm aware that there's a helluva lot of producers on the SP.
What more would you think there is to see here tho ...
Turntable to mixer to SP...then some chopping.
He didn't really do anything to the sounds beyond what you heard while he was going through the record and sampling into the SP
One of my absolute favorite producers of all time, Easy Mo Bee produced an entire Miles Davis album as well, it's called Doo-Bop, it's dope , has a very eclectic sound.
another super producer. grew up with his music during 80's and 90's. glad to see him still makin great joint! salute!
He’s made literal classics. Top 3 producers for sure.
Mo bee! He laced Legends with his powerful productions! His drums hit you like a TYSON PUNCH!
Nah they hit like HOLYFIELD 😂
This is right. Easy Moe B is one if the greatest producers ever. I would live to have an SP1200.
No computer no nothing simply Pure and Great! One of the greatest videos ever made here. Thanks to Mass Appeal and Easy Mo Bee!
4:20 - 🔥🔥🔥Just that little bit right there… a Hip hop lyricist paradise. I been making a few beats like that lately just designed for spitting’. None of that dark slow stuff a lot of people be on nowadays. I myself had to snap out of that mindset. This simplicity brought you “Flava in ya’ ear”.Thank You Easy Moe.. A Living Legend making it look easy on SP. 💯🔥💪🏾🙏🏾👑
Easy Mo Bee has easily made some of the best tracks that are absolute classics in this day and age. Nice to see the brother getting some shine. If he were to never make another beat, he would still be one of the top hip hop producers just off the strength of his catalog.
This man is in the same bracket as the greatest to ever do it and what he made did not disappoint!
Thankyou Mass Appeal for bringing a true Legend to play (AND WIN) Roulette!
Man, that was legendary. And he came up with it so fast. The result of coming up in an era where talent reigned supreme.
One of the best clinics in the whole series.
It’s that simple! Not too much with the extras. Love to see one of the legends getting shine out here. 🎶 ❤️
Easy Mo bee is a Legend no words needed. Straight up head banging immediately once the beat plays!!
Still rocking with that SP-1200, oh the many classics he flipped off of that machine. Salute to the legend Easy Mo Bee
Mo Be is not talked about enough. A true sense of the word Producer and Genius.
Amazing how he finds the right sample!🔥🔥🔥🔥💯🤯
