I feel like they should be getting actual badges to wear on their aprons. Like boyscout badges.
YES!!! All the yeesss!!!!
Stickers xD
Then we’d even see if they were revoked
I would love that !!
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! This needs to happen @sortedfood
Mike's wife is hilarious, a simple, perfectly timed "oof" 🤣
I'd love to see an "improv" badge - certain ingredients are missing and the boys have to think of adequate substitutes. Also a "chemistry" badge for knowing the science behind cooking - raising agents, etc.
This is what I though the improv badge was going to be last episode.
Baking isn't a science
- Barry "forever normal" taylor
A real Alton Brown episode.
"Jesus invented the raising agent...". THE funniest episode EVER 😅😅😎
There is something so unique about Ben judging cooking skills with this super cheery attitude: Imagine him and Gordon Ramsey being the judges in a cooking show together, they would be the chef's equivalent to "good cop, bad cop".
good chop, bad chop
Good guy, wank for the Glaswegian viewers. 😂
@@thomasroberts1248 that'd be a great name!!
@@thomasroberts1248 lmao this could be the title of a new show on Fox. I’d watch it.
Ah yes, Ben, the Paula Abdul of Sortedfood.
Jaime: “there is no badges in pass it on”
Me: pass it on normals only teamwork badge?
This! This! So very much this! Give this... cat (?)... a trophy, they have just won the Internet.
Such a good idea!!!
Omg yes... Pass it on Three Course Meal. the three badges being Organisation: Teamwork (a chef in a large kitchen is not working alone,), Creativity: On The Fly Cooking, and Technique : Service.
I would go as far as let the three discuss who is primarily responsible for appetiser, main and dessert, but that's is, and everyone still had to contribute something to each dish.
Give them an hour, two runs of 10 min each
Ooooh, excellent!
Hell yea
Mike: "Its a bit of a Gale but not a full on hurricane"
Me telling my mom my house isn't that messy lol
@@problematicgoose 😂😂😂
As a Floridian I understood that perfectly lol!!!!
@@tarinroberts2047 😕😂😂😂
At the end of this series, there needs to be a 'Chef vs Chef vs Chef?' battle where the two chefs battle with the winner of the Chef Skills Challenge.
The other two can throw in a curveball.
"I mean, that hurt me." - Mike
Ouch. Yeah. Same. Ben is *savage.*
Id love to see a palate badge. Where the normals do blind taste tests to determine what an ingredient is or food pairings that go well together.
Seriously backing this.
@@khaxjc1 thanks! :)
They get vegetables wrong all the time , not much hope blindfolded
They already did the first part. The one where they had to taste a dish and write an intro to it.
@@rasmusazu true, but this would be slightly different but you aren’t wrong.
I feel like Mike is the least normal of them when he is confident he can really show that he has picked up a lot of skills.
Agreed! I've seen him do a lot of reasoning through things which shows how much he's learned. I thought maybe he just doesn't test well--knowing there's pressure to prove himself, but glad he proved everyone wrong today.
This is exactly what I'm saying!!! but i think it's the pressure and maybe not being able to "test" well, because i honestly relate
He's just very flustered under pressure. If he took some deep breaths, he would nail it.
Ben holding up both measuring equipment in front of Barry made me laugh out loud. How deliciously smug
Everyone: The normals are chefs now!
The chefs: Now listen here!
"You could have used a peeler for that mate." I laughed so hard I had to use my inhaler.
Been there!
He could’ve used a peeler for the cucumber
I really hope that at the end of the season Ebbers presents each of the normals with a Scouts-style sash with physical patches sewn in!
Nah, pinned in so they can be revoked and reinstated! That way it’s still interactive for the audience too lol
Ooh. I was just wondering what the winner gets.
PLEEEEASEEEE READ THIS AND DO IT OH MY GOD
Like girl scouts...I love it
Or maybe wooden displays that look like shields to put on the wall beside where Ebbers stands so they can watch him remove the badges etc 😅
Mike - “where is he going?”
The CC - “where the f*ck is he going?”
A bit aggressive there 😂
I came on to say the same thing!
"Fry, my pretties!"
Ha! Hilarious, Mike. I'd put that as a sign in my kitchen lol
That's an excellent idea
Yep, that's the winner of today's t-shirt slogan contest!
James has said it in the past. Merch time!
It's a Jamie quote ^^
@@PawsitivelyQuestionable autocorrect. I meant Jamie.
ben: you’ve been quite calm and collected
mike: *screaming at the strainer(?)*
That was my favorite part lol 😂 😂
Right? Like I literally laughed so hard on that bit
These challenges are some of the best videos you've ever made. Send our support to James, too!
We're glad you like em! :)
What happened to James?
@@ajbrx he has been working from home lately, apparently working on a big update for their meal packs things? Hopefully he comes back soon!
I think the first two stages of putting the items in order and picking equipment within a time limit would be a fun little minigame to put up on your website.
And then Sorted audiences can post their results (time challenge) on Twitter with a hashtag! Boosts brand socials 👍👍👍👍
If they do this, which would be amazing, maybe have different time options for slow readers
@@ylvahammarskiold9775 options* I take. autocorrect?
When Mike is confirmed married:
Me to the Mike fangirls: “I mean, that hurt me.”
Me: oof
Their wedding pics were cute
I will howl when Ebbers confirms such news bomb.
@@izuizabela6613 NOT EBBERS PLS 😭💔
He has worn a ring for ages 😂
This has became my favourite series from Sortedfood this year...this is amazing 👌👌
We're so glad you like it! Thanks for watching :)
Same!
I love it too, it's so fun!!
I loved this challenge!
I’m you 420th like 🤣
Ben should have done this as the "fourth" participant. So we could see him easily rearrange the recipe, pick the equipment and cook confidently while the others are going to pieces.
I agree. Maybe have him go first (at least in the video, not actually with the others) so we the audience can see what it's supposed to look like because other than the big glaring issues, like putting the plate & serve step 5 steps to last it's hard to know what they're doing wrong
I second this. Serves as a standard for audience to understand how near or far the normals really are to chefs
No, for a legitimate test you need another chef (not the one who wrote the recipe and designed the test) to show how it's really done
@@cassieoz1702 If James were to participate i wonder if he would be able to control the sass at Ben to do things educationally. 😂
I would have loved to see James as the "fourth" participant which would allow Ben to remain as the judge. Or even to have Ben and James switch between being judge and participant.
I mostly just miss the sass of James on the show though I understand that there's logistical issues there.
Can I just say, this would be so much more satisfying if they got badges to put on their aprons ( or sashes, or hats, or anything really) like boy scouts! I can totally imagine Mike's ear to ear smile as Ben pins them on 😂
I can also imagine one of the lads getting really in to badge making in their spare time because of it. Most likely Ben 😂
Is it me or did Ben sound like Dumbledore giving away extra house points at the end of the first movie?
Mike with " I mean, that hurt me" in an absolutely devastated tone.
I literally burst out laughing
This whole show is just Ben entertaining himself by running the human kitchen equivalent of a rat testing lab, isn't it?
Probably, and I'm loving every second of it!
Afraid so, I’m not enjoying these at all.
@@jacks3164 It is, although the first one on this felt more like a bomb defusal setup than an ingredient organization.
Nooooooooo no no no..... yes
Clearly, as evidenced by his pure joy in these last couple episodes
Ben: "Challenge number 2"
Mike: "You're a a swine"
Me: [laughs like a witch]
You get the badge for best comment. I laughed so hard at it, I cried!
SORTED should do a big “all around” test where they are tested on ALL the badges at once while doing a cooking battle - call it the Chef Skills Exam and sync it up with Exam week for schools?
As Ben once put it himself: “The best kind of revenge is one that takes the longest.”
First, Ben makes Barry consume obscene amounts of Chilli Sauce and now, it’s organisational abilities. We don’t give Ben’s diabolical mind enough credit.
@@nightshade7240 AMEN AMEN.
Next video is fermented poker face....... Ben's favorite seasoning is the bitter tears of anguish and salty tears of misery.
@@faatman42 OMG SAVAGE 😂
Should have given Barry a badge just for not leaving all the hobs on. I mean thats major development right there
Patience Badge: do something that requires constant, prolonged stirring. Like risotto, dark roux, cornstarch pudding, etc. Or, a hot sear on a steak and the patience is in not turning it too quickly.
Can already hear Jamie "don't get bored, don't get bored" 😆
@@RedRose1010100 Hahaha I was about to say, let Jamie julienne some carrots xD
tests have actually found that you get the best, most even sear on a steak by turning it as often as every 30 seconds or so!
It would be more of a Stamina Badge
@@RedRose1010100 while Mike screams at pots and pans randomly
"You could have used a peeler for that mate!"
Stealing that, thanks Jamie.
Barry: "Do I get my badge yet" is the most Barry thing to ever be said!
Here's hoping Mike can start making a comeback!
#teammike
wish granted
Rooting for him too!
The way this challenge was set up was so smart. A compelling watch. It felt like we really got to see how the normals might follow a recipe and at home.
Seeing Mike do so well in this episode was nice, I was hoping he wouldn't get smoked through the whole series. Now I just hope he can keep up the momentum.
Jamie could've "julienne'd" that cucumber and then cut the resulting strips to size to "simulate" grater effect.
Have you ever seen him julienne? He does good for the first few cuts and then literally gets bored lmfao. Him and Ben have addressed that actually 🤣
I was thinking he could have used the peeler and sliced. Is that julienne-ing?
@@hollylockhart9423 yes that's exactly what I was thinking. I've essentially julienned cucumber that way before.
He could have used the pealer for that! XD
Gotta love the consistency with these episodes, loving the new series boys!
Thank you! We're glad you like it :)
lmao mike's wife just going "oof" when he told her the organization badge was up is a whole-ass mood
As someone with ADHD who enjoys cooking, these challenges are my worst nightmare. I empathise with the three of them so much, oh god, I'd do much more than yelling at a strainer.
Omg... Imagine if james were the one giving out the badges.... He's so strict they might not get any
I’m SO glad Mike got the credit he deserved today!
Love that Ben is in an other rooms, I agree he tends to make things "too" easy for the normals 😂
That's the problem with the competitive format whilst also trying to be educational, his 'helping' is mainly for the audience, not the guys particularly.
I'd like him being in another room (where he can actually speak out loud not quietly or whispering like in this video) so he can comment while not helping the ones in the challenge
That's the mother hen in him
Ben saying "That will be an interesting moment" is the best thing that has happened to my life in months.
Please do a whole series just of these. The recipes that have to be assembled, the equipment that must be chosen, the recipe that must be made. This is utterly brilliant!
Barry: "I didn't put the timer for the rice, did I!?"
Ben: "No, you didn't."
Barry's face: "Do you want to end up in this dish?"
You needed to add the time for that comment. I had to go back and watch half of the video again to find it. Well worth it🤣🤣🤣 It was at 10:17 for the next person who missed it.
@@kristinowens4972 Thank you 🤗
Man, this is the first time I've seen Barry properly pissed. He tried to be good humoured about it but he was proper pissed off
the pastry pass it on.... at the ending in it
One criterion I would like to see the guys judged on is food safety, which could probably be awarded under the "technique" skill category (but could also be applicable under other attributes as well). While I realize that it isn't exactly 'fun', after working in a restaurant for a few years, I think that one hallmark of a good chef is having the proper conduct in the kitchen to ensure their safety, their coworkers' safety, and the safety of the food that they are serving.
You needn't go into the minutiae of food preparation (mostly because you're not serving food to guests), but properly handling equipment under duress (e.g. not leaving the hob on), proper food handling (e.g. not leaving raw meats out, cross-contamination, etc.), and knowing how to determine if the food that you have prepared is safe to eat is important.
Mike's wife is a national treasure that needs to be protected.
I kinda like the name “The Ultimate Normal” as an alternative title 😂
The way Ben says "THAT'S THE POSITIVITY I WANT" is a mix of genuine pleasure at the positivity he got and drunkeness on the power he holds.
Hahaha, Ben is 100% drunk on powder during these filming days
@@SortedFood what powder is that??? lol
@@SortedFood might I ask what powder he's drunk on? and where to source it.
@@SortedFood Lol! Not sure what kind of powder that is X'D
Ben talking quietly while the others panic in the background feels like a weird ASMR video
This series idea is brilliant, can't wait to see the next challenges!
-the guy who definitely didn't drop half a carton of eggs on his kitchen floor this morning
I can't wait for James to come back and start taking these boys to task.
Where is James??
@@DJPYTTA He has some personal/family stuff he's dealing with. He's working remotely, mostly on their app and backend stuff I believe.
It’s definitely feels like there’s someone missing as you watch!
Need him to come back with a bang! Get them to do a typical James type chef task
Want James to judge them for a bread making badge, like a mini Bake Off episode
@@Samus11111 Thanks!
Jamie: "There's no badges up for grabs in pass it on."
Well, now there's an idea. Testing picking things up where someone else left off? Testing communication and teamwork? Testing creativity and thinking on your feet? Sure sounds like badge territory to me!
I'm so proud of Mike? I know he's a smart, capable adult who can manage his life despite not thriving under pressure, but seeing him stop and think things through and get some genuinely good results just feels great.
One of the skills should be testing them on the garden to table movement. Have them grow something and then cook it up.
This is the most fun series you’ve ever done!
Why thank you :)
Barry saying “nul point” at the same time as Ben. 😂😂
Great minds think alike... Even when Barry's mind isn't the greatest in the organisation challenge.
It's a meme from Taskmaster. Greg Davies awards points in that show and sais 'nil points!' a lot with great gusto when contestants completely flub a task or break a rule.
@@justinwhite2725 nooooo, Greg does that because it's a cultural touchstone from Eurovision.
The fact Jamie didn't use his peeler to help with the cucumber , drove me up the wall! I almost yelled at the screen.
I love how they actually read comments and change some thingsss
Ahhh they need to learn the Knuckle technique for the rice.
I honestly laugh in their faces when they need to measure the water to their rice because my grandma is like “two tin cans of rice and water that comes up to a line you plebeians” lol
Best part about that technique is no matter how tired I am and how innaccurate I do it it walkways works. Great tip fellow chef!
my thoughts exactly
@@lenacai6040 I've never measured rice or water in my life and never had a problem
@@lenacai6040 lol, i just measure it through mug, 1.5x of water
Let's go Mike, my man's gonna clean sweep the badges this time. He's always so hard on himself! But I have faith!
First time Mike won in a while!
The boy did good!
you could have "gold" badges, that are worth double or something, but can only be earned during a pass it on. high pressure means higher rewards
#teamjamie His food always looks delicious and he is so upbeat and positive- definitely a fav SortedFood guy, especially in this COVID era. Don't think he gets enough credit!
Also team Jamie! Gotta love our Jolly One
Highlight of the Video: The Spaff looking for a Vegetable Peeler for slicing an Onion.
to be honest, he probably could have made do with the peeler for his raita--strip the cucumber, then juliene rather than chop.
@@MrAndrewtheguru or cut part way through then peel so it comes out as strips
@@MrAndrewtheguru Jamie doing julienne? Are you havin' a laugh??
@@MrAndrewtheguru That's what I thought as well. This way the cucumber would have been closer to what was needed for the receipe, AND no points deducted for not using the peeler.
You eyeball it? You could use a peeler for that mate.
I lost it.
“Your time starts now!” All we’re missing is Greg Davies berating the guys for their stupidity and awarding arbitrary points.
omg imagine the five of them competing against each other on taskmaster
@@heidisparklebottom Sounds like a perfect setup for a stand up 2 cancer special!
I'm loving this series. Thanks guys!
I planned the rest of my afternoon around watching this 😅🙈
I'm ashamed but mostly proud to say that I do the same 🤣
Hahaha, brilliant!
Next year they should do these badges for Ben and James to see who the best chef is!
It's Ben. He is far more exact and methodical. He knows ratios, recipes, isn't afraid of odd pairings, etc. Just based on pass it on, Ben has saved their asses many times and James has flapped many times.
I have missed it somewhere, but what happend to James? Where is he?
@@CobisTaba He's been working from home due to family stuff if I recall correctly. Hopefully he'll be returning soon
@@WiGgYof09 That just means Ben would win some categories. Him being generally better at Pass It On, doesn't prove that he's better at all the other disciplines.
@@whatevah1989 Yes, basically I would view cooking as both an art and science. Ben is better at the science, James is definitely the artist. Ben is super consistent, but when James does it well, he hits it out of the park.
I’m absolutely loving this series! Such a good format and so well presented. I really like how a single dish follows through the multiple badges. Looking forward to more of these!!
These videos are BRILLIANT! Loving this new series.
Ben is fully taking advantage of being in this position 😂
This episode gave Mike his comeback, I've been rooting for him 👏
I'm so proud of Mike. He's the normal i most identity with.

Oh it's neck and neck now. Mike clawed his way back and evened playing field. Jamie considering the peeler was the highlight of this episode. Can't wait for the next one.
Mike's wife will probably be really proud of him now! 😅
I feel like rearranging a recipe youve never seen before would be difficult even for a seasoned chef
Not really if you take a loical approach and have good basic foundations you could easily work it out in order. Unless it was something complex that you would see in a Heston B resturant - then I think everyone would be confused lol
I love this series so much!
Yay I was literally jumping in happiness when Mike won two badges.... Yes yes....
Congratulations Champ 🤩🤩🤩

I'm loving this series, very good job, lads!
Jamie waiting for Ben to tell him he got more than one badge was so adorable. I'd have him come and cook for me any time, badges or no.
Man - definitely one of the best chef skills episodes yet. Loved the setup, format and .... well the judging could have used just a bit more numbers for me. i.e. a little graphic on the equipment one showing the necessary tools and then flashing the ones people left out so we can spot the difference as we pause the video
I love this series so much. Really fun to actually see how far they have come.
