It's crazy good how calm and effective you are with 20 seconds on the clock.
TBH 10 seconds is enough for a forced mate or ladder mate or even 10 forced moves.
I’ll say it again, I’m loving this series. Used to focus more on the various vids out there involving tricks and traps. Fun to watch but didn’t help me improve. Now I’m making serious progress, mainly by slowing down and trying to recall the thought processes/self-directed questions you so kindly narrate in these videos.
Congrats hitting 700
@@prepaidtrash5552 bro wanna find out?
Love Nelson’s time advice in the last game “why are my opponents playing like this is bullet” 8 minutes later Nelson has 1:30 and all 3 heavy pieces and and 2 minor pieces left on the board:)
Awesome videos! Super educational and helpful for novices like me!
Last game showed it really well. Opponent has 6 minutes on the clock, yet he blitzes out a useless pawn move in 2 seconds and blunders quick checkmate
FYI, it might not be a good idea for the UA-cam algorithm to upload your streams as a second video. You can change the thumbnail for the live video, but the live video is always available unless you restrict its access.
Yeah youtubers I watch often unlist them so it doesn't mess with the algo too much. Otherwise the views split between the two
"I just kind of hop on whenever I can." Good line for a sprained-ankle stream!
Don't listen to the neanderthal trolls on here, Nelson. Your playing speed and commentary are perfect. Im really excited to see you go into the 1500 range. You've helped me gain a lot of elo this week. Keep up the good work!
neanderthal trolls lol 😂
This run has been the most instructional thing for me on YT yet. Started learning in April. Keep up the great work!
Just wanted to say that I love this rating climb series, I have watched every single one and look forward to seeing where this goes. Good luck on the climb!
Was expecting this to be posted from the hospital! Not disappointed, though. It's the first in this series I have seen and I learned a few things. Get well soon, Nelson!
Ur much better than Gotham in my opinion ❤ Keep up the good work
I gained 200 elo points in about a week or two after I started watching your videos! I'm still nothing special ( 850 elo rn ), got to work on openings, that's my biggest weakness.
me too
Nice 850 is pretty good...gl 🎉
Don't worry about openings, just do tactics puzzles especially mate in 1 and mate in 2.
It's obvious what happened in game one. Tilt. And mostly NOT from losing his N either. Certain players lose their minds if people don't "play fast." Often they'll message you to complain. Totally oblivious that disclosing such info can (and will) be used against them. If you get a game that you yourself willfully agreed to time-wise upfront, don't play like a spazz. And keep your 'suffering' to yourself.
I definitely play pretty slow, but you would be amazed at the number of people who piss and moan at me about it. You signed up for a 15 minute game, I don't know what to say?
Anyway, yea, spot on.
I lose my mind when my opponent plays too fast in a slow game 😂
@@kruksog There is, of course, nothing to say. Only something to do. Engine chess is a game of complete information. It is devoid of mental states...of emotions. Human chess is a different game. No human can know the mental state of another. And no human exists without a mental state...buffeted by all kinds of things that impinge on one's emotions (and hence, concentration). Whether bothered by an upset stomach or getting dumped recently in a relationship, an opponent may be poised to play 100 or more Elo points below a current rating. Even a small annoyance can cause a drop in level of play. So, when given insight as to your opponent's mental state, your first course of action is to smile and be thankful at the gift. Then you do what must be done--you play as slow as possible (judiciously) to leverage the edge you've been afforded. And you say nothing...letting the silence and continued slow play work their magic. That human chess is so idiosyncratic is what makes it worth playing the game.
thanks for playing the colle system nelson!!
Sorry to hear about your ankle. Get well soon!
this series is incredibly useful, thank you so much!
I guess after 8:26 after pawn takes C6 and Qxa3 You can play pawn takes B2 check queen takes and pawn takes rooks promote and take the queen with the knight?
Thats what i didnt understood how he missed
Enjoying watching your Rating Climb Speedrun. Hope your injury heals soon. Thumbs up.
8:45 missed tactic!
Don't take back, get a new Queen with check then take his queen (saw it in 2x speed)
You're thinking about not Bxa4 but cxb7+ right
8:28 I think cxb7+ was better than capturing the queen because you can win a rook and make a queen with tempo and then you can even take the black queen.
I saw that idea immediately.
Ke7 bxa8Q Qc2 Qe8 check also wins the bishop on f8 and black's last knight and rook are parralysed on the back rank. The only pieces black can move are the queen and the lightsquared bishop. On top of that black's king is exposed.
Yeah I saw that too
Thank you for these videos Nelson :) you truly are appreciated 👍
You know youre not young anymore, when the pain is delayed like that.
I have been destroyed by king's gambit multiple times so seeing it getting destroyed gave pleasure to my soul. Really love your content.
30:16 Qxb7 the go back, if NxB then QxN. 34:48 Black's queen goes h5 followed by Ng4 what's the reply.
Bro, you put a tank top in the thumbnail, but when I click, it’s a V-neck. Way to clickbait…
Hope your ankle gets better!
You really missed something at 8:29, you coulda taken the pawn on b7 discovered check, queen takes bishop, pawn takes rook=queen+ and then taken the queen. I put it into analysis to make sure it works and you woulda had a +20 advantage rather than a +5 advantage
Nelson, “so we did make a few mistakes in this game. Let’s see what they are“. Then I look at the evaluation bar and it’s nothing but a white chart starting flat going straight up. 😂
nelson looks jacked
How'd you injure yourself? Some sort of freak en passant accident?
Move order in Colle was wrong exactly for this reason, black gets their bishop out there first. New theory suggests white developing the bishop before pushing e3
Love this , great insight thro your thought processes ! Really helpful ! Really enjoy watching and learning ! :-) THANK YOU !
8:28 pawn takes on b7+ wins immediately...
I think you should include Rating Climb in the title
Hello, can you play Queens Gambit and Sicilian defense? Thank you
I'm literally doing the rating climb with you. My rapid rating has gone up 350 pts.
Just a heads up, your streams stay on your account. May be worth either restrict the stream, or just edit the stream video
In game 1 after he took ur queen u could have taken b7 with ur pawn with discovered check and after enemy QxBb5 u promote taking a8 rook then take enemy queen with ur knight
I remember a guy playing some guy against the collei system and i kinda wanna try that now
Are those ratings USCF ELO ratings or website ratings?
No one answered. No one knows or maybe it is obvious it is just a website rating that means little.
Some of the mistakes are painful to watch. I used to write chess programs and enter it them in USCF tournaments. I could see the what the computer was thinking about. I would often cringe when I saw the computer thinking of making a less than optimal move. This too was painful.
As a man of culture, I smashed my brother's expensive laptop everytime when I lose. and that gets me trouble😅
enjoy & appreciate your videos thanks very much , but please consider playing a climb at 15 min
because even at 10 you have to rush on many occasions and go a bit too fast for some of us
Get well soon
in the review for game 2 if white goes Ke2 then Bg4 wins the queen
8:29
Cxb7+
Qxb5
bxa1=Q+
You’re welcome.
The beauty of the move is that you win a knight, and rook, but also get a new queen effectively only losing a bishop and pawn, and you also win their queen because of the knight on c3.@mythbusters866
"oh my" a bit of an understatement there. 😅
That was his most dramatic reaction in this series so far
Yes Nelson these extreme sports take a toll 😄 I left you a serious comment on your later video
How about a danish gambit next time?
On 3:35 couldn't you move your queen two steps forward to check the king and at the same time attack the knight and the pawn?
If you block the check with pawn queen defends knight
awesome video👑
Nice games. Get well soon.
What is that behind you
Urgh, Ankle sprains are the worst. At least you have a good excuse to sit and play chess all day :)
play the bongcloud opening
how that anyone not wished good recap for nelson after his injury i juste read a lot of comments and not found a single one, you guys are selfish the only thing that interest you is gaining some tips to play with shame on you
8:30 why not cxb7+?
White has to retake the queen with his bishop. otherwise blacks queen takes the unprotected bishop with cxb7.
I love ur channel I love your content but I refuse to accept that if poker and snooker/ pool isn't a sport that this is. Still keep up the good vibes
Did he seriously just miss winning a free queen or am I not seeing something? 8:20
Lol nevermind.
Yes, there is a tactic, but next move.
obviously your throat is badly stuffed with mucus. In that case it is better to drink hot water or tea.
Seems like things would've gotten quite uncomfortable if black had sacced the knight Kg3 at 36:03
chess IS a sport and the title about it being dangerous IS a joke
another usual duplicate video of the live stream.. casual things
9:31 "Oh my" What should black have done?
Bishop D6 ? (to save his life)
after making pretty much any other move after Nxa7 check then king has one legal move which is Kb8 then after Rxd8 then Kxa7 and im pretty sure that's not checkmate so as long as they didn't move the king there then they would've been fine (I think)
@@FuturePast2019 Bishop D6 is probably the best move in that situation
@@Chickensandwichsalmonella Or E7
You just need to chew on ginger root for the ankle swelling. LOL jk jk
Chess is not a sport! It's a board game...
It actually is a sport. Do your research
But it's still dangerous
What in the world.. didn’t go for queen fork in the first game? Doesn’t make sense..
I'm not liking these double posts of the same videos. Just saying. I got excited for nothing.
Not a sport nor dangerous as in mountain climbing. More of a strategy puzzle dueling from equal start.
its a joke💀
and also chess is considered a sport from my knowledge
@@Chickensandwichsalmonellayeah it benefits your mind
Chess is a sport, just not physical. And definitely dangerous, again not physically.
dangerous wata hell well sweat to hard I guess any body agree by the way what is you're guys prediction when he's gonna hit one mil subs mine 2024-2025
hey you already uploaded this. this is just a repeat. And damn you play so slowly, I find myself having to L-skip just waiting for you to make a damn move!
i like listening to what he thinks
if this is not the content you were hoping for, just watch other content
You can watch Hikaru if you prefer faster paced play.
Just watch something else
he plays slow because he wants this to be educational and not some 5 second game of him destroying people💀
no, Ice hockey is a dangerous sport. American football is a dangerous sport. sitting down peacefully playing a board game with zero physical contact is just not.
do you actually think that’s what he meant
Having three small children really is a dangerous sport
what?? are you mentally challenged??
@@DiamondGuy6 nah, he probably meant one bad move can instantly make you lose the game. still not 'dangerous' though.
It's not any kind of sport. It's a board game turned virtual.
I might be getting a little bit better maybe I saw everything for the under promotion to the night
First
Edit:Actually second
