I know this may not sound very impressive to most of you. But I am a total beginner in chess and I’m on my way on reaching 400 ELO thanks to these videos. I’m so grateful for that! I had never played chess before in my life until three months ago. I haven’t memorized any openings. I’m just improving because I’m slowly but steadily absorbing the tactics you explain so well in these videos. My deepest gratitude to you Nelson 😁👏🏻
Found your channel a couple weeks ago and have been really enjoying the climb. Just hit 1000 rating today and I feel watching your stuff has helped me slow down my play and think a bit more critically about some positions.
Funny, my 1300-1400 (over-the-board) opponents never made the kind of blunders we saw in the last game. They did make blunders, but they were either in the category of missed opportunities, or they required more cunning play on my part.
It is interesting to know more about the Ponziani ( because I play it ) than the IM who has taught me so much. Nelson did play the position well though which testifies to his experience.
He remembered his catch phrase at the end of this one! Great video, at first I didn't like the unedited video because of too much dead air, but this one had hardly any of that. Very engaging, thank you. Stay sharp, play smart, and take care!
I like watching your videos teaching us how to play chess. Because you are a normal guy. A lot of these chess streamers are weirdos. They don't have any social skills. But you are like an everyday normal kind of guy who plays chess. And you're just honest and real. And, of course, you have a lot of knowledge and understanding of chess.
My problem is I just don't see all the moves. Even in a 3 day per move format I make mistakes then only see why it was a mistake after I move. And quite often I focus on what's happening immediately in front of me not realising there's something else on the other side of the board. Plus I'm the blunder King, let's not forget that😂
Look for tactics, ask yourself what’s the opponents threat and also study positional play. I noticed the more you get really into positional play the less you start to blunder. That’s what I’m working on now. My tactics are sharp, and I usually only fall to tactic, if I’m not positionally solid and understanding the full position as a whole
Could we see some Tennison Gambit action? I normally play Kings Indian Attack but I've been doing that move order lately - lots of traps, and if they don't fall for them I just play it like the KIA lol
Why is it when I play blitz they do not make such obvious mistakes? I feel like it's so obvious when I'm watching your stream. I guess the commentary and walking thru your thought process helps a lot.
Nelson, first off, I would like to commend you for the outstanding job on your ches videos. Here's my problem: vs e-4, I have been playing the Scandinavian, however some of my opponents play e-5 instead. This pawn is given me a lot of trouble. I've been exploring with Be5, but this slow me down on development on the king side. And most often I ended up losing. I am rethinking my strategy and going into the king Indian (as supposed to Be5). Any suggestions? One thing I know is I don't want to make too many paws moves, specially during the development stage. Also, striking with c-5, seems a possibility so I can attack from the Queen side.
16:25 if they take the bishop you can retake with the knight atak the queen and have a mayor atack with Bh5 unleashing the bishop and atacking the f7 square like 2 million times
what's interesting to me (and i see this in my games too) is the mistake comes early in the game. 2:30 minutes in and the game is gone. in all this speedrun i have yet to see a player blunder for the first time with less than 4 minutes on the clock. it's like once the opponent makes a move, it's a rush to move as well, without analyzing what would happen after my opponent makes a move. and usually it's not a complicated 3-4 move variation, it's taking the time to answer basic game questions: what is my opponent attacking, what is the space left behind, do i have overloaded pieces or undefended pieces, is there knife fork in the air, are there any discovered checks?
I don't understand why he resign at 57:58, can't see how it is lost, despite being totally "green", I can normally follow and understand (thanks to Your great way of keeping it simple), but not this time, did he just need to go do something else, or was the position lost....???
same here, no idea why that pawn to f3 was a blunder surely the knights forks the queen and bishop, queen move out of the way and its an about equal trade?
Best to know one opening against e4, one against d4, e5, d5 - then maybe look up a bit about caro-kann (how to play against it) and basic ideas of sicilian. I play Vienna, Caro, London and Benoni - and I don't plan on learning anything new, just improve those openings.
Long time follower, first time commenter. First of all, thank you for making this content. I love it! And I'm so proud of you! You know your channel is going to 4 million subscribers, right?
Thank you for this series, really useful at my level... For your throat, try hot water, honey and lemon drink and if you drink alcohol, add a tot of whiskey, my goto throat soother.
@@sujalmaharjan7563 I dunno what the best move woud be. Bb5+ still looks good cause they have to give up castling rights. In any case you could always still go Bg3 after they go Bh3.
NELSON, WE WOULD HAVE LIKED YOUR COMMENTARY AT THE CLOSE OF THE GAME TO SIMPLY DEMONSTRATE, PLEASE, WHY THE OPPONENT FELT IT NECESSARY TO RESIGN AFTER YOUR VERY LAST KNIGHT CAPTURE OF HIS BISHOP. I'VE READ THE COMMENTS BUT DON'T SEE IT, AND THAT'S UNUSUAL FOR ME. PLEASE DO EXPLAIN THE ENDING MOVE'S RAMIFICATIONS, THANK YOU. AND AS ALWAYS, BLESSINGS YOUR WAY, .. MIKE.
57:58 I don't understand what happened in the last game. Like white could move their Queen from C2 to F2, or is there something else that I'm not seeing?
At level elo 1300+, losing a major piece (in this case, a knight…. smallest of the majors, but still….) is going to, in all likelihood, be a loss. So he resigned. Brain fart most likely. Happens to us all. I lost my queen early in a game. So silly. Luckily, my opponent had less experience so I persevered and eventually won, but my odds were terrible at that point. Not bad to admit defeat and resign.
We need to start a poll and which ever subscriber(s) wins they get to give Nelson a nice neck rub. Or whatever. Have one competition that's based on like a small point (5 or 10) range. IOW someone states he'll have an off game somewhere in the low 1800 hundreds and therefore offer that it will occur between 1812-1816 (a 5 point range). Then do one concurrently that makes use of a precise guess. No range. From there, lots of prop bets could be going on as well. What country will deliver him his first loss? How many losses might he have to endure. Etc., etc., etc.

My board vision is getting so much better because of this incredible series! Thank you Nelson for all your hard work and superb teachings 😁👍🎉
I concur!! Less blunders and better follow ups as well. Thanks Nelson. Appreciate it
You are so humble and a great teacher Nelson. Please keep up the good work. These videos are very educational and I got a lot of value out of them.
I appreciate that!

Most of my opponents are in such a hurry to make a move. They snap take, even in the openings, when I know that I am making book moves.
It is interesting to know more about the Ponziani ( because I play it ) than the IM who has taught me so much. Nelson did play the position well though which testifies to his experience.

Why is the move at 57.43 so terrible? It's a blunder that loses the bishop, sure, but why did white immediately resign?
There was a fork on Queen/Bishop. White was losing both the bishops.
@@gimme_pineapple And that's such a big deal that he resigned immediately?

surely the knights forks the queen and bishop, queen move out of the way and its an about equal trade?
because white is down a bishop. Bishop for free at E3.
I think he was either going to be able to get the 2nd bishop or queen depending on what piece he moved
imagine an opponent of nelson making same kind of a video and we get to see what they think too 😂
Its such a good video I absorbed its knowledge in 1 minute
me too!
Lol Well done lads. A bit slow but good effort 😂
Game 1, it looks like they were going to go down a piece then randomly hung a queen instead
Is there some tactic I missed?
Could you play some benoni variation in a comming game and if c4, d5, the benko gambit might be cool see
Is he still undefeated in his journey?
Yep. Not even a single draw
Love the channel
Can i reach 1300 or 1500, if i just know 1 or 2 opening. What should i learn to reach it?
yes, get better at tactics. You only need tactics to get to that rating range
Just play, do tactics (maybe get a puzzle book).

Why cant white queen go to c2 and protect the bishop? game 1

I am little bit confused, did you not wanted to write 2300 ratting instead of 1300? It is difficult to believe you would be so low rated 😊
It is a ratings climb with a new account. He is realistically rated ~2500 or something, but this account has only made it up to 1300s so far

Please, add new translations of rating climb to the playlist

How has this guy won over 100 games in a row?
