Hi guys! I am the woman that grew up IN that camper. Her name is/was Nelle Belle. My grandparents were the first owners of her. Then it was passed on to my father, then me, now you! That little silicone spot, in the lower corner of the screen door, yeah sorry about that! I wasn't old enough or tall enough to reach the door handle, so that was "Little Tammy's" door handle... I just want to wish you the best of luck with her! It's taken me a while to build up the courage to check out what all you've done with her. Like I said, I spent my entire life, in that RV. (I, myself, am a 1972 model.) I've got a lifetime of memories with Ole Nelle. I haven't watched the rest of your remodel, yet. But I hope she gives your family as many years of happy memories as she did for us! Wishing you safe travels and Blessed adventures!
1975 Coachman Leprechaun...That is the same motorhome my father bought in 1982 when he took us all on a trip across the country. So good to see there is still one on the road. Great motorhome!
I’m a mechanic that just retired and the noise from the engine compartment is either the donut gaskets where the exhaust pipes hook up to the exhaust manifolds or one of your exhaust manifolds are cracked which is common on those. Also you should buy a new tire for the spare because those 16.5’s are so hard to find, you need to go to 16 inch rims and tires later on you could do the rears then later do the front and buy the rims online at a store that sells commercial rims not at a tire shop they double the price on them
Thanks for all the insight and tips! We did get a spare tire, so as long as we don't have multiple blowouts at once, we should be okay for now. 😅We're taking it in tomorrow to get the exhaust system worked on and definitely hoping between that and adding some deadening pads, we'll get her purring instead of growling 😹
@Roberta McMunn anything you buy at 20k under you might have trouble with so starting at 4K now with $1700 in new tires is still a very good deal. Putting new tires on your rig this common even on RVs up to 20k ...... Thumbs up guys
Reminds me of a vintage boat i bought, happiest day in my life when i bought it and next happiest when i found somebody like me to buy it . Good luck . Love the happiness . Thanks for sharing. It showed my wife why we don't need a used one .Good luck and thanks again.
This is how to turn a negative into a positive. You’ve wanted to do this for ages and Covid has been the catalyst. Can’t wait to follow your adventures in the campervan!
This is exactly what I want to do! I'm 66 and I want to spend some time in God's country. There is nothing better than standing in a meadow, warm from the sun. Listening to the wind through the trees and smelling that fresh air. Do some fishing, Lord knows it's been awhile. I need peace.
Awesome! Totally not a mistake. And for $4k way cheaper than. Looking forward to the road trip fun! And now I can tell my wife we can just watch your RV videos instead of us doing an RV summer :) have fun you two!
I have a 23foot 1984 GMC! I Boondock constantly with my dogs! I had to change my tires to 16s cause I had the same tires. I'm in the process of getting solars and wind generators! I LOVE it once I got use to her! Been doing this a year now. Good luck you guys! P.s. my girls name is Lorelei!
I just bought the EXACT same RV model and year for $4500! Seemingly in awesome condition, all original interior, and only 4800 miles haha it never left the state of Wisconsin. Very excited to make some updates to the interior and engine plus adding solar as well but not doing any construction just paint and new floors and upholstery. Good luck!
What an adorable couple, you really captured a sense of adventure, was a pleasure to see and sparked my own imagination. Can't wait to see what you do with this new to you ride.
Old motorhome guy here. We are now on our 7th one. You asked the question is "This a $4000 Mistake??" I would answer absolutely not. It appears to have been taken good care of. Two areas that you should always buy the best . . . tires and batteries. There are tons of "how to" videos on UA-cam so watch as many of the appropriate ones as possible. I would take the metal container off the front and mount it in the rear on a "Cargo Carrier". "Happy Trails"
I have bought several vehicles in the last few years for myself,, grandkids, step-kids, etc and have driven lots home with no plates. Never had a problem.
Great video. I bought a 1996 RV. I was clueless. Bought it for 5000. And did buy new tires brakes and other stuff like maintenance. Then cosmetic like redo the roof and minor fixes. Total another 5000. 10k. Which I knew it was to cost money to fix. When the guy wanted 10k but due to his divorce drop it to 5k. I regret it at first but after covid 19 we use it as a escape from the cities. We were moving. It save us alot of money and it was a very nice home. Now we are in our new house. I miss the RV living. It was great. I remember how great it was and bad things fixing stuff. Great video.
I can remember that Class C new when it was so in the mid 70s. I was just a kid but a neighbor bought that exact model. Seeing the interior really brought back some good memories. Congratulations on the new purchase and your new life.
I was getting sad for you guys because I thought your guys adventure was going to end, but I am so happy that you guys thought of the idea of buying an RV so you can do more adventures!!!!!!!! I love watching your videos!!! As I cannot afford to travel so it's nice to watch you two!!!!!!!! I am so excited for your RV travels and RV upgrades that's going to happen!! Eeeek😍😍😍
Congrats you two. I bought a 1977 Chevy El Dorado. it had 34,000 thousand miles when I git it. It's the same size as yours. We loved it. I was so sad to let it go. We, my wife and I worked with the Ringling Brother's Circus. It was one of the most dependable rigs...In the Circus we call them RIGS.
Great idea! Van life is a smart choice for many travelers this year, due to obvious circumstances. Looking forward to the adventures with this old gal! You can name it "Miss Take, Not" lol
I had a 76 Tioga that was exactly like yours just different color. Takes me back to those nightmare times dealing with a 16.5 tire...lol. Best of luck!
HI Eric & Allison!!! My hubby told me about you 2.. We're not RVers YET, but we did buy a 1976 Minnie Winnie that we HAD to gut it all out, it was bad. We're almost done gutting it, then remodeling. Can't wait til it's done!!! We will be going on the road HOPEFULLY by next year!!! Nice to meet you 2!!! & I Subscribed.. Will be watching you gutting & Remodeling etc.!!! GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!!
I love it! Totally reminds me of my childhood. Previous owner did an Amazing job maintaining it. Keep the interior, but you will probably need to update the fridge and stove. Not sure what features the vintage ones came with. Maybe a compost toilet if there is not enough Grey tank. PS I love Leprechaun as a name.
You’ll love it..if you visit RV camps you’ll find people are so helpful and friendly! Lots of stories there! Some camps will allow you to work off your fees if you chose too! I never did but a lot of full timers do! You’ll also meet full time RVers “Nomads”...plenty of stories there! You 2 get going!🕺🏼💃🏼🏎
Congratulations! I always liked the idea of having a “cabin on wheels”. Now I can live that experience through you two. Thanks for keeping the Endless Adventure alive!
A month or so ago I bought myself a 1975 Bedford CF motorhome in Australia. Im so happy, I named him Sonny because he's yellow and bright. They definitley need lots of love.
I have been living and traveling in a vintage Ford RV for 6 years. When my rig is clean I still get plenty of compliments. Enjoy it you'll have lots of fun.
Great video. I just bought a 1990 ford E350 21'. very similar to yours. Shwew. good luck guys. Same issues you had, even the DMV. LOL. I just replaced all tires. worth it but $900. lots of Engine electrical issues, probably due to sitting a long time. New fuel pumps, and ECM. But its been fun. Get handy....
We took a trip in '77 in a coachman leprechaun - 7 of us! Good old Jellystone campgrounds, lots of rv friendships, campfires, burgers and fried chicken. Wonderful time. Go and make some memories! Blessings!
I bought a 1986 Chevy Tioga with 68k mls for $1200. It was a renovation a couple started and lost interest. but yeah first thig to replace was all the tires. I will follow your lead. Thanks for the motivation. Yes I know nothing about rv life. It is an adventure.
HaHaHa!!! I owned the exact same rig, (years ago) with the exact same fueling problems. If you have not already discover it, there is a air/back flow/whatever you want to call it, with the fuel tank vent system. I fixed it myself and on the road to boot, not being able to fuel up with constant tries to get a few gallons. If you cannot figure it out, have a mechanic fix it for you. I know, very frustrating not knowing how much fuel you have and not being able to fill it up. It will get progressively worse if you don't fix it. Cheers!
My late wife and I bought an older '78 Allegro for $6000, did some minor maintenance on it such as cleaning up the DIY wiring that had been installed. MY wife totally recovered all of the cushions for the smaller seats as well as the beds. We put a lot of miles on that old coach and used it as much as we could, even to taking three-day road trips on it. We finally sold it as we were in the process of moving and renovating our house and it was not getting used. Got every penny back that we had put into it years before. One thing I saw that reminded me of our coach was the exhaust problem. Ours had a GM 454 gasoline engine and the exhaust gaskets were shot when we got it. Roared like crazy until we had them replaced. After that you could hardly hear the engine. One thing we learned the hard way was to NEVER put General brand tires on a heavy RV! Two blowouts within a week on tires that looked fairly new! Had all six plus the spare taken off and replaced. A bit expensive but never had any more tire issues.
NO!! You made a very wise choice. Even if you have to buy am engine it's still worth the price!!!! GM engines are strong. If they are taken care of they will last several 100 thousand miles!! I'm envious I have always wanted one of those.
The first thing we did when we bought ours long ago was put in sound dampening matts on the floors from nose to tail and replaced the muffler to a quieter one. You will be amazed at the difference if you decide to give it a go :)
Just saw your video and had to watch. We did the same thing 7 years ago. Bought a used RV and just jumped into the RV lifestyle. Now we are in our 2nd RV and wouldn't change a thing. Just subscribed, excited to follow your journey! Super cute rig!
I've still not found the best way to do what y'all are doing now. I've been though several different vehicles, Campers, Jeeps. Just do what makes ya'll happy. What is easy and affordable to your budget. Good luck happy couple.
I wish you all the luck on your project. Keep in mind though that these can rapidly spiral down the money pit. Some things, like never ending rot, just aren't worthwhile or even feasible to repair. I rebuilt one long ago. Used it 4 years and finally ended up taking it to the dump. Just couldn't keep up with the leaks, rot and other repairs. I finally realized it was foolish to keep going. Bought a slightly newer rig and got to use it more than work on it. It was even still worth something when I traded it in. I guess my point is, just know when to throw in the towel no matter how much work and money you have in it. Good luck!
We named ours Earnies Journey after my uncle who's ashes we kept and took with us, he was is the best. Have fun, we did. . Oh and don't even slow down to get gas , cuz someone will call the cops 😉
I'm still super excited to be remaking my 1976 RV. She is SOO similar to Clementine. I've hit personal roadblocks before being able to start fixing up my girl. And still investigating/determining how much demo I need to do. I will be rewatching your videos for inspo!!
Congratulations, guys! You’re gonna have so much fun with this rig. For a name, since it’s a Leprechaun, and to impose a good omen on it, I’d name it “Lucky”.
I'm so excited for these RV road trip videos! I know its much different than the international travel you've been doing, but an exciting new adventure!
I drove my Grandpa's old 90s Chevy Silverado for 2 months last year, and it felt like that too. Gotta give it some gas and time to get moving and feels like the steering wheel has to be turned so much. 😂 I actually started liking it by the time I gave it back. 😆 Yay for new adventures! Excited to see what's ahead! 😍
You are now in my wheelhouse. I used to sell and service RVs of about that vintage. If you need advice on the appliances (heater, fridge, water heater, etc.) let me know.
David, my man, I just purchased a 1979 Marque, I Sure would love to pick your brain concerning the very appliances you just mentioned Please hit me back if you have a few minutes. Thanks.
You will have lots of fun with that Coachman. Fun, and frustrations will abound. I also bought a COVID project camper a Class B Xplorer 280XLW. One thing you probably have done by now. Engine clearly has an exhaust leak. (Exhaust manifold not sealing as well as it should to the engine block) Not a big deal. Hard to get to and not a DIY thing. Mine cost a couple hundred to fix. You DO need to fix tho. Besides the noise, with the engine right under that doghouse, you can get exhaust fumes into coach. Also long term driving with an exhaust leak can cause exhaust valve damage. LOVE your new motor home and wish you well!
Nice to see vloggers taking this current situation seriously. I used to watch Harald Baldr and Dale Philip (who I dared to question, and got an insult back), but they just don't seem to give a toss about peoples safety. Going in and out of family home continuously, markets, everything, no mask, gloves, social distancing. They are a disgrace. So thank you for restoring my faith in the fact that there are intelligent vloggers out there.
I bought this same camper same wall paper and all.......needs lots of work but I love it. So glad to see you guys do this because I don't know what I am doing lol
It sounds like it needs an oil change and a new muffler if it’s clicking it needs a better oil changed and it probably needs the gaskets overhauled because if you got something leaking in the motor didn’t you’re gonna have to change him that thing inside the motor Yum I’m not sure about the timing belt but maybe maybe the cam cam shaft
That's the first thing on our list, no worries! It's definitely too loud, but we're hopefully we can get it sounding much nicer with some updates and additions to the exhaust system 👍
I know this post is old, but I was referred to it from GNWF, Rick. I will watch as I am excited to see what you do. Last fall I bought a 1985 Ranger grand sport. It’s a pop-up camper on a four-cylinder Toyota chassis. If I can post a photo I will. I think in the 70s and early 80s, the orange theme for campers was a must, LOL.
You have done so well!😀 She is so beautiful, the interior is so retro chic! Love it! Just remember guys, she is old so you will have your ups and downs. Enjoy 😉
So happy for you guys! Me and my fiance just did a similar thing. Its actually a similar story. We've been looking around for an RV for about a month and we finally found an '87 class A for $4300! We had to drive 4 hours to get it and when we bought it, we had new tires put on it that same day. Pretty hectic. We ended up getting home with it at 3 am completely exhausted. So exited about it and i bet you guys feel the same!! Happy travels
Hi there, I see you bought an old RV. We did the same and I want to over a few things we had done to ours. We bought a 1985 C Class with 350GM motor in it. Like you the first thing we did was buy new tires and rims because the 16.5 just was not available any longer. This gave us safe tire travel for 25,000miles and tires are still good after four years. Motor wise we replaced the manifold gaskets because they were leaking. If you don’t fix them you will have problems warping manifold. Any leaks in muffler system will reduce power so fix leaks if any. Replace air filter. We also had problems with gas filters because it was old there was rust in tanks and once we used it for a couple of years that was much better. The gas filter is right at the carb and takes a one inch wrench to take it out. I also put an inline gas filter which makes it easy to change if need be. I also replaced master cylinder for brakes. Replaced Spark plugs. Also all the belts were bad and needed to be replaced. I may seem like a lot but we still had a great time with it over the four years. Tomorrow we pick up our newer RV but this one is an A Class 33ft. will we have more fun in the new one? Not likely we had an awesome time in our old 1985 C Class RV. Congrats! why is it so loud? does it need a new exhaust system and manifolds? I know you just had a tune up; but when you can I think the engine, rear dif, belts, water pump, battery, Hoses, transmission, wires & plugs and starter serviced and replaced. Ball joints and shocks brakes are all really old, and based on the year and mileage it has been sitting a lot of years. under body rust can also be havoc; getting a frame wash and under coat may help to reduce rusting. I have had many vans like the G20 and the many various Ford Econ line. I had a 82 ford club wagon for 32 years; the carburetors can also be costly to maintain. Besides the interior make over; It would also be a secure feeling know that the engine and drive train is up to the task. please check your radiator and thermostat those camper can run hot in the summer time, especially when you hit those hills. Safe travels, i am looking forward to your build. thx Tommy NJ
@@chicagoarkus7485, Those types of dinosaurs died out in the 90's; those exhaust should be rotted by now. To really to make this rig reliable; doing a complete engine and drive train swap from a newer truck could be affordable and safer. Complete engines/dive train with low low miles, newer wiring, upgraded Alternators can all be under 2G if you shop around. Lots of deals now with COVID-19. and to retro fit/installation 3-4G. This would be great content/build to view as we adapt to new times.
Glad to find you. We just bought a 1987 class C for the same reasons as you. After I bought it my mechanic said " you sure you want to keep this? It's going to be a money pit". Oh well, hopefully, like you, it will be a good learning experience. We first named ours "Dale" from the Walking Dead. Then changed it to Elvis after the "Cars" movie.

(I, myself, am a 1972 model.) I've got a lifetime of memories with Ole Nelle. I haven't watched the rest of your remodel, yet. But I hope she gives your family as many years of happy memories as she did for us! Wishing you safe travels and Blessed adventures!
Ahhhhh
🥰
That is awesome and to know that a young couple is so excited to have it
@Arthur Justice Seek professional help.
What a great story, Tammy. Your legacy lives.
1975 Coachman Leprechaun...That is the same motorhome my father bought in 1982 when he took us all on a trip across the country. So good to see there is still one on the road.

Name: Marigold. The colours are right for that name, and because it’s old fashioned sounding.
Name her Rona Rider
I love this idea. Marigold!
I love Marigold too! :)
We love it! It's definitely in the running 😊

Always makes me smile to see people so exited about something new in their lives.
This is how to turn a negative into a positive. You’ve wanted to do this for ages and Covid has been the catalyst. Can’t wait to follow your adventures in the campervan!
We still can't believe we finally did it!! 🙈Thanks for the support! We can't wait to get to work on the ol' gal 😍

You should look for a free vintage rv on Craigslist it will be a fun project and it will give lots of memories
If she's cool with that.

Yeah, completely agree!! Dorothy is the obvious name for it!
It’s original name was Nellie Belle.
What an adorable couple, you really captured a sense of adventure, was a pleasure to see and sparked my own imagination. Can't wait to see what you do with this new to you ride.
Fun! I love that you don’t cut out the tough stuff. Makes it so relatable!
I just inherited this exact RV. Down to the wallpaper. The engine is rebuilt but the inside is definitely a project..

This is a smart move y'all. Appreciate the risk you took in terms of driving all that way and all of the unknowns in the world right now. Good luck.

It's the perfect time to buy an RV and do a bunch of road trips. USA has tons of beautiful national parks worth seeing👌🏻🚐
It sure does, and we can't wait to explore more of them!! 😍

Tay-ah means "Hands on" in Vietnamese :D that works
@@johnc3403 That's so awesome!
I ALSO LOVE TEA. What a clever IDEA!
When you have to explain the name and or the pronunciation its not worth the effort choose another name.
Cheers!
WOW, your RV is a real beauty! Yes, get new tires & brakes first thing...congratulations on your “new” purchase, and welcome to the RV lifestyle 👏🏼
Congrats guys! Good to see you both making the most of the situation and use the time to achieve one of your dreams 😀
Hallelujah, I’M PRAYING FOR YOU, PUSH TOWARDS GETTING IT FIXED
Welcome to my world. I've been full-time in an RV for the past 11 years.
I'm envious I have always wanted one of those.
you guys are adorable, and its actually helpful for me rn, especially your positive attitudes! thanks
omg this is so cool, exactly what ive been telling my wife for us to do congrats on the RV.
The first thing we did when we bought ours long ago was put in sound dampening matts on the floors from nose to tail and replaced the muffler to a quieter one. You will be amazed at the difference if you decide to give it a go :)
So excited for you guys!!
Just saw your video and had to watch. We did the same thing 7 years ago. Bought a used RV and just jumped into the RV lifestyle. Now we are in our 2nd RV and wouldn't change a thing. Just subscribed, excited to follow your journey! Super cute rig!
Congrats y’all! 🎉🙌🏼 Welcome to life on the road! We hope to run into y’all someday (not literally of course 😜).
Thanks! We're so excited! And it'd be great to (not physically) run into you 😂
I've still not found the best way to do what y'all are doing now. I've been though several different vehicles, Campers, Jeeps. Just do what makes ya'll happy. What is easy and affordable to your budget. Good luck happy couple.
I love it. Marigold is a perfect name!!!
You guys should have done the opening with “we brought a rv” like Alison always jokes but now it’s real
Janelle Pulley bought
Hahaha yessssp
I drove my Grandpa's old 90s Chevy Silverado for 2 months last year, and it felt like that too. Gotta give it some gas and time to get moving and feels like the steering wheel has to be turned so much. 😂 I actually started liking it by the time I gave it back. 😆
Yay for new adventures! Excited to see what's ahead! 😍
You are now in my wheelhouse. I used to sell and service RVs of about that vintage. If you need advice on the appliances (heater, fridge, water heater, etc.) let me know.
David, my man, I just purchased a 1979 Marque, I
Sure would love to pick your brain concerning the very appliances you just mentioned
Please hit me back if you have a few minutes.
Thanks.
I am so excited!!! I did this with my daughter and a fifth wheel. How fun!!!
I think you should name her Mrs. Beasley from the 70’s show.....It’s a Family Affair, she was an old beloved doll of Buffy’s(Perfect!)
I’m delighted for you! This is so exciting and I can’t wait for your next adventure!
Name it “Lucky”! For lucky charms leprechaun and lucky that you found her!!
I bought this same camper same wall paper and all.......needs lots of work but I love it. So glad to see you guys do this because I don't know what I am doing lol
Call it Moneypit
The Pit.
Get the engine sorted, as that is the heart of the Van as it sounds rough even for a diesel
That's the first thing on our list, no worries! It's definitely too loud, but we're hopefully we can get it sounding much nicer with some updates and additions to the exhaust system 👍
Sounds like a Chevy 350 engine which is a 5.7l V8 and they are loud even when tuned up.
Ryan Guy why they keep saying GAS and not DIESEL FUEL?
Wow it’s so beautiful, I wouldn’t change a thing about the inside. It’s perfectly preserved and super cozy.
Exhaust needs to be changed!
Wait, it's not supposed to be that loud? 😜Don't worry! It's actually in the shop getting worked on right now 🙌🙉
I like Antique like this model
@@Theendlessadventure Sounds like you have an exhaust leak.
You guys are cool. I had a similar model class C, and I'm sorry that I sold her. Hope you get lots of enjoyment from it.
Exciting times! Congrats on the new adventure mobile, guys! Can't wait to see where it'll take you. 🎉😊✨
I love how when you hop out at the end, your coat and beanie match the RV
It’s adorable! You should name her Blossom 🌸
You're both adorable and you've found yourselves an amazing RV! I love how stoked you both are.
Great . Congratulations you guys . " Mavis " Is a good name for her lol
1st addition: a backup camera
2nd
SOLAR PANELS/sys...
You have done so well!😀 She is so beautiful, the interior is so retro chic! Love it! Just remember guys, she is old so you will have your ups and downs. Enjoy 😉
THE ENDLESS ADVENTURE 'Breaking Bad edition!'
Love your videos. Hope you're back in the UK soon. Stay safe and enjoy
Awesome! Best of luck
Hi there, I see you bought an old RV.
We did the same and I want to over a few things we had done to ours.
We bought a 1985 C Class with 350GM motor in it. Like you the first thing we
did was buy new tires and rims because the 16.5 just was not available any
longer. This gave us safe tire travel
for 25,000miles and tires are still good after four years.
Motor wise we replaced the manifold gaskets because they were leaking. If you
don’t fix them you will have problems warping manifold. Any leaks in muffler
system will reduce power so fix leaks if any. Replace air filter. We also had
problems with gas filters because it was old there was rust in tanks and once
we used it for a couple of years that was much better. The gas filter is right
at the carb and takes a one inch wrench to take it out. I also put an inline
gas filter which makes it easy to change if need be.
I also replaced master cylinder for brakes. Replaced
Spark plugs. Also all the belts were bad and needed to be replaced. I may seem
like a lot but we still had a great time with it over the four years. Tomorrow
we pick up our newer RV but this one is an A Class 33ft. will we have more fun
in the new one? Not likely we had an awesome time in our old 1985 C Class
RV. I also replaced master cylinder for brakes. Replaced

Congrats! why is it so loud? does it need a new exhaust system and manifolds?
Wow this should b broke down alot
@@chicagoarkus7485, Those types of dinosaurs died out in the 90's; those exhaust should be rotted by now. To really to make this rig reliable; doing a complete engine and drive train swap from a newer truck could be affordable and safer. Complete engines/dive train with low low miles, newer wiring, upgraded Alternators can all be under 2G if you shop around. Lots of deals now with COVID-19. and to retro fit/installation 3-4G. This would be great content/build to view as we adapt to new times.
Tommy Wong You really have to wonder why they just didn’t buy a nice rig there’s so many of them out there nowadays
