Considering Tom the "mature" player, when, in almost every single episode that he uses a new ability or spell he manages to skip over key parts that dramatically change their effectiveness, which often has lead to retconning or him redoing his whole turn is an interesting take. Similarly, calling what the rest of the party did to rescue Quill stupid is...odd, especially considering they had to rescue Tom from his own mistakes. He decided to move within 15 feet of a creature that was single-mindedly pursuing him (after Mark very explicitly said that 20 feet was JUST out of reach), rather than utilize his capability to fly to stay far out of its reach, so that he could use a cantrip. All in hopes that this giant, fuck-off megaspider would fail a strength save to fall 30 feet and take 3d6 damage. Seriously, if he had just flown out of the retriever's reach, his god probably wouldn't have died.

As I do not believe he would make such an obvious mistake, even in the moment - he seemed to have acknowledged the fact that he would be within range of the big “fuck-off” spider. I don’t believe he knew exactly *how* it would go down, but I believe he had *some* sort of foreknowledge of the situation. Otherwise, that obviously important and very specific sequence of events, would likely have not occurred… (I’m not caught up on any of the future episodes so please no spoilers - I only possess knowledge leading up to the end of this specific episode, so please don’t crucify me either if I said something monumental moronic lol)

The way they didnt kill the mindflayer ABSOLUTELY pissed me off 😂😂😂 I dont understand how quill doesnt understand the fact that the mindflayer knows about their rescue plan for Valla is BAD.
Tom has been like this since episode 1. He'll think of something he thinks is clever and then his train of thought stops there. That's why he always seems blind-sided when people point out the obvious flaws in his plans, or when he flies within melee range of a retriever to hit it with a cantrip and gets knocked out of the air and teleported away, resulting in the sacrifice of his god to save him.
He's been like this since his first High Rollers appearance in Lightfall. Unless he has played other games IRL his entire experience with the game is public as well. The thing is Reynard was quite suitable for this manner of play. Qillek's nature makes these flaws stand out quite a bit more.

I got into HR thanks to Mark being a guest on Critical Role, and have been following BOTH campaigns over the past year. I feel like Vessek and Essek are basically purple gravity wizard brothers from across dimensions. I'm actually kinda delighted Mark snuck an homage to Critical Role's favorite purple wizard NPC in High Rollers. :D
What if they're the multivirse versions of each other. Like in the mcu there's different versions of everyone. Considering in critical role there's a religion on reincarnated versions of dark elves and in this one there's reincarnated wild elves. Only difference is the wild elves don't fully remember their past lives.
I kept on postponing this episode, since the last one was so emotional. Well, the moment when with Quill realizing the truth was simply heartbreaking. This fantastic story keeps on getting better and better. Thank you so much for sharing your creations with us.

I can't remember the episode, but that (the Lightfall) group infiltrates a cave network and find a kobold cult that worships a giant gold egg they believe to be a dragon. Katie's character nearly ends up betrothed to the leader's son. One of the funniest HR episodes.

I've been to lackadaisical binging this. Really picked up my watching when Mark suggested Aerois was ending soon when he spoke about it on Eveningstar. Somewhat surprised that they're already at level 15 in 2021 here. Still I hope to be finished binging before Campaign 3 begins.

I was already tearing up, but Mark's voice breaking was such an honest and recognisable feeling of emotion that I transitioned in the full sob and well, that's beautiful.
Such quality world and story building by Mark. After 110 episodes his world seems so fleshed out by the myriad NPCs, and now epic level interactions. My own group are hitting L12 now on the campaign and I'm watching Marks encounter balance closely.
Calling it now Vessek the kobold will recognize Valla as his goddess but Valla will not know what he’s talking about but will reluctantly agree for his help. Rana the deva could definitely train Lancien the aasimar really want to know how they interacted and who knows will she teach Lancien how to sprout his celestial wings or another type of celestial power within. I think everyone should stop wondering and pestering if Katie/Aila will use the Duskwillow coin/favor the time will come if it comes, she’s confirmed she still remembers it just wait, personally, the best use would be for the ingredients to upgrade her hammer (storm giant blood, blue dragon heart, and behir tounge) But that’s the player’s choice.
Request! Could a separate bookmark (like the Intro/Part 1/etc.) be added to cover Dun-Duns and Recap? Just to skip to the start of the action for people binging on vods after a few months away.

Not sure if anyone pointed this out yet but barbarians are resistant to all slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning damage not just damage from non-magical weapons. If they were it would say that specifically like it does in most monster stat blocks

it only took me a few weeks but i finaly caught up to aerois i guess its time to binge what i have left of light fall(i stoped about midway through so i got alot left) and allmost all of curse of strad to watch i didnt expect to catch up then again i did a 2 month binge of critcal role a year back to catch up to that so i guess im a marathon madlad!
So actually I don’t think Tom’s wrong about letting the mind flayer inform Xharkira. I suspect she will cause a civil war in the empire and join Hadar. That will force Calus and Aerois to be actual allies and any plans to use Valla as a sleeper agent will be rendered obsolete. It’s a gamble but I think it’s a good one
With regards to aela not being able to resist the magical slashing damage - is this an actual part of the rules? In the PHB under rage it just says ‘resistance to slashing, piercing and bludgeoning damage’. Not trying to backseat; I’m genuinely curious if this is something I’ve done wrong. Seems a bit weird to me
Actually yes she should be resistant to all slashing, bludgeoning, and piercing damage while raging, even if it's magical. "[While Raging] You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage." (PHB pg. 48) As it doesn't specify those sources as coming from nonmagic weapons as it often does in the Monster Manual it means barbarians while raging are resistant to all those forms of damage, not just bear totem barbarians

it only took me a few weeks but i finaly caught up to aerois i guess its time to binge what i have left of light fall(i stoped about midway through so i got alot left) and allmost all of curse of strad to watch i didnt expect to catch up then again i did a 2 month binge of critcal role a year back to catch up to that so i guess im a marathon madlad!

So actually I don’t think Tom’s wrong about letting the mind flayer inform Xharkira. I suspect she will cause a civil war in the empire and join Hadar. That will force Calus and Aerois to be actual allies and any plans to use Valla as a sleeper agent will be rendered obsolete. It’s a gamble but I think it’s a good one

With regards to aela not being able to resist the magical slashing damage - is this an actual part of the rules? In the PHB under rage it just says ‘resistance to slashing, piercing and bludgeoning damage’.

Actually yes she should be resistant to all slashing, bludgeoning, and piercing damage while raging, even if it's magical. "[While Raging] You have resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage." (PHB pg. 48) As it doesn't specify those sources as coming from nonmagic weapons as it often does in the Monster Manual it means barbarians while raging are resistant to all those forms of damage, not just bear totem barbarians
