I lay my baby hairs with Lily of the Desert aloe gel; that's how fine my hair is! Good to see I can NEVER expect a super-dense hairline LOL! My crown and the back upper part, is nice and dense! My entire perimeter is somewhere in the 3c/4a range and low low/slight medium density. I am currently diy rubber african threading until about the New Year. Great advice.......I do similar. I been natural 23 yrs.... Also at 58, I spray my scalp with water mixed with rosemary aromatherapy oil to stop menopause hair loss and keep growth.... I heard what you said about the pattern baldness but you really needed to trim more to reduce the thinness on the ends of your hair on the top. It would make it look much more dense and healthier.
Thank you so much for this. You were so detailed and thorough and gave great instruction. I would think you were a teacher in your profession. I tried watching another video prior to yours. I do stretch my hair sometimes so I would utilize your tips thank you so much Karen you are a blessing❤🎉
You are so welcome! I can do curly trims as well, but that's a little more difficult to teach as it is very difficult to see the split ends with curly hair. But I"m so sorry about your poor experiences. I always listened to my clients when it came to trims. Even if the client wasn't ready to remove all of the split ends, I would do it in stages. I"ve always believe that you meet people where they are. But if you have been trimming your hair for years now -- I"m sure you do it like a pro! 💇🏽♀️
This was very helpful, and timely, especially since my hair is in desperate need of a trim. I just discovered your channel yesterday and I have subscribed. I like your personality, professionalism and style.
Thank you for sharing! I really like your method and you demonstrated it very thorough. I have a trim coming up soon and I’m going to try this. My top section is like you described yours, it’s thinner and seems to be growing slower. I just turned it into a curly bang. This is the best trimming video I’ve seen.
Thank you so much for this video!! I would love to see a video on how to properly blow dry your hair at home to prep for your trim also 😊 I also would love to know the differences of how the hair would be sectioned off if you have bangs. I have bangs and Grace framing pieces in the front. One last thing, do you have a video on humectants and natural hair? I live in a very high humid state, and I’m wondering if I’m doing my hair justice by not using humectants. I try not to use products with them High on the list because I also have high porosity hair. So my logic is, since my cuticle is already lifted, I don’t need to utilize humectants that’ll lift my hair further in high humidity and draw too much moisture in. But that’s just my logic, lol. I recently found your channel and subscribed. I appreciate you sharing your expertise. Future video ideas: I would like to see a video on how to cut mens/short hair too. I'd like to be able to trim my husband and son's hair. Also, how to upkeep dreadlocks style and properly care for scalp and hair in dreadlocks. I'd also like your opinion on the pros and cons/outcome differences of cutting hair while wet vs dry curly vs dry blown out. Some salons use different techniques. Which technique is appropriate for which type of hair/curl pattern?

You doing a great job with managing your hair loss condition. I was watching some of your videos from a year or two ago and your hair was so short and now it is so long and pretty!
Thank you so much Silver Fox! I keep saying I am going to do a video of my journey to hair restoration -- its'c coming! It certainly has been a journey!
@@KarenofCurlHouse Please do! as I believe I have that condition too. I have an appt with a dermatologist coming up in Aug as my hair has thinned out a lot in my crown area as well as a patch area on the side that itches a lot. (I have been using the Nioxin #4 shampoo/scalp treatment system and it's helping a lot and I rarely see hair loss in my drain anymore and my hair always grows long) I started having this thinning issue after going through menopause in my 50's but it got much worse after I was put on blood pressure medication (metoprolol) three years ago. I'm 69 yrs young :) and I've always had a lot of hair (but baby fine textured hair) up until the last few years.(it's very upsetting to loose ANY hair unnaturally). I'm new to your channel and I really love how you teach hair care and also your very warm personality. :) and I must say your hair looks great! and healthy....I wish I could trim my own hair too. I had a stylist razor cut my hair my last trim.. without me knowing it..and that's a huge no no for curly hair as it thins out your ends and causes the ends to frizz and dry out even more :( Thank you so much for sharing and caring! I will be watching! Belinda
Thanks so much for the video Karen this was great please tell us how you grew your hairline back you mentioned that you were once balding in that area I feel that I have the same condition that you mentioned and I'm massaging daily and using essential oils hoping that it will help what do you think
I am so scared to do this 😢but I have no other choice. I will be using your tips and following your video every step of the way. Pray for me 🙌🏽. I’ll be doing mine this week.
Hey there! Don’t worry about the regular scissors. Just monitor your ends as you MAY need to do another trim sooner than normal but you may not. Just get your hair shears for your next trim and you should be fine 🤗
Thanknyou for also pointing out that som hairs grow slower then others, as I have has my hair chopped off one to many times because they did not listen, and wanted to even it out....and I take care of my hair.
I used to tell my clients "You know your hair better than me as you are with your hair 24/7", so I think it's so important to LISTEN to my client. Hair doesn't have to be evened out when trimming. Keep right on taking care of your hair!
@@KarenofCurlHouse Thank you. I just wish I had someone in MD who is able to help take care of natutal hair properly. And not just want to silk press , dread/loc it, or add extensions

Subbed when you trimmed the hairline cuz not even professional stylists do that these days!
Hahahaha! Thank you much! I am a licensed cosmetologist and I thought we “all” did the hairline 🤷🏽♀️ Taught me something 😂
Thanks for sharing this awesome video I'm definitely going to try this one 😀😄
Have fun!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, SO SO MUCH for this detailed and easy to follow tutorial!!! I have been looking for this for so long- this info is very needed! I will be referring back to this repeatedly.
Wow !! Your hair is absolutely beautiful 😍
Thank you so much!! I appreciate it!
Thank you for an awesome video. You remind me of my mother who was a beautician. Take care.
Wow, thank you! That is truly a compliment. 🤗

I am really learning some good stuff from you! Wish i knew your channel when i bc'd (3/31/20). My last trim was in Nov 2022. I watched a few different videos tocpretty much trim EXACTLY as tou had. You put all the jewls and nuggets in one video!
Hahaha! You are very welcome! No need to keep all of knowledge to myself lol 😂
YOUR VIDEO HELPED. ME OUT. IM SAYING AN INCH TO CUT OFF IM TEACHING MYSELF 2 STRAND TWIST AND MY TWIST HOURS LATER LOOK LIKE FUZZ COMING OUT .IM THINKING TO CUT TOTALLY OFF AND START A NEW WITHOUT USING RUBBER ANDS. MY GRIP IS NOT TIGHT .ANY SUGGESTIONS
@@KarenofCurlHouse oh I would love to see that video! It's so encouraging to see people transform before your eyes!
Belinda
Looks a lot fuller 😅 good job thanks for the vid😁👍🏽
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for the video Karen this was great please tell us how you grew your hairline back you mentioned that you were once balding in that area I feel that I have the same condition that you mentioned and I'm massaging daily and using essential oils hoping that it will help what do you think
Alrighty! Will do a video this week! It’s been on the list for quite some time! But consider it DONE!
Very helpful video. Thanks
🙌🏾💜
Thank you so much. ❤
Thank you so much. This is so helpful!
You're so welcome!😉
Do you use the same process if your hair is not straight?
I am so scared to do this 😢but I have no other choice. I will be using your tips and following your video every step of the way. Pray for me 🙌🏽. I’ll be doing mine this week.
The best thing you can do is TAKE YOUR TIME! Don’t rush it! and remember - less is more! You got this 💪🏾
@@KarenofCurlHouse thank you so much 😊. You are right- less is more.
I love this video!!Thanks😀
Yassss!! Awesome!
I used regular scizzors yesterday's. Im gonna go purchase some good affordable hair shears, can I reverse potential damage?
Hey there! Don’t worry about the regular scissors. Just monitor your ends as you MAY need to do another trim sooner than normal but you may not. Just get your hair shears for your next trim and you should be fine 🤗
How did you get your edges to grow in the front? Mine are gone except for the middle part.
Thank you for the information.
You are very welcome 🤗
Awesome. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Ms. Karen your hair is amazingly Gorgeous 😍! Thank you for the tips! I love been natural! I'm now a subscriber of your channel! ❤
Thanks for subbing! Welcome to the Curl House Community 💜. I appreciate the compliment!
@@Nyotakikora1 What part it Maryland? Try Ayana at the Outbar salon. I’m not sure where you are in Maryland though.
@@KarenofCurlHouse Close per say to Baltimore. But I shall look her up! Thank you ma'am

What product do you use before blow drying your hair
Hi Phyllis! I spray the Curl House Leave In Conditioner, followed by Design Essential Agave Leave Thermal Protector Serum. It does the trick!

Such an easy video😻
Yay! So glad you could follow!!!
How often should we trim our hair? Thanks ❤
Hello Sandra! I typically recommend every 3-4 months, about once per season. Here's another video I created that may help you as well. -->. ua-cam.com/video/qz_WsekLV04/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for sharing! ❤ I have three daughters whose hair I maintain and your videos are very helpful. I just need a good blow dryer. Please do you have any blow dryers to recommend? Also, please do a video on how to blow dry hair. Thanks. Now off to watching more of your videos! 😊
You are so welcome! I will put this request on the list. Good question! There is an art to blow drying particularly if you have 3 daughters!!! I will give you some tips! I like the Conair SIlver Bird for home use. Here's a link. amzn.to/3XARJnT
