The one line hits like a freight train. “Now it’s my turn to keep the wolves away.” You never know what it’s really like until it’s suddenly your turn.
Its my turn now, and you are not wrong. It hits you literally like a train... Im months in, and Im really struggling to take his place. Really puts in perspective of just HOW far my father kept the wolves away.... rip dad...
I think there are plenty of situations where men from the age of like 19-21 get offered situations by god to keep the wolves away(take responsibility). Doesn't matter if it's for the family or the community/neighbors. It's just modernity/the secular world that undermines this need for men to take responsibility(just think about how even in marriage finances often get split like they were freaking room mates). No wonder Jordan Peterson observed how - especially men - are dying to/thirsty to hear words about taking responsibility - after half a century of getting sold rights. Back in ecclesiastic times responsibility for men was default. Now everybody is "free" but has to fight for themselves.
"There was a fire at the refinery. Your dad is in a helicopter on the way to Galveston." Every kid in Beaumont TX knows what that means. Thankfully my dad recovered with only a few scars on his arm. I know many who didn't.
36 years as a plant operator and retired December 2023, made it to the end working all the time for my wife and kids. I retired in good health and no cancer from the chemicals I worked with. Not a lot make it to the end and am thankful
My father is a plant operator. He's kept the wolves away for 30 years now and I know it's taken a heavy toll. Rotating 12 hour shifts haven't been kind to his body
Your dad is a hero in the sense he created a wonderful, sensitive, hard working man, you. You were so blessed, my dad was never around. Sending hugs and love to you. ❤
Dad’s mission is to keep the wolves away. Man style. Protect and provide. Enhance. A father must be a force multiplier and a boost. Patience and virtue are a father’s tools.
That man taught you to fish, taught you to work, taught you to fight. Showed you how to be a man and how to provide. That's something to be proud of, 'cause not every person gets that, boy or girl. I'm sorry for your loss brother.
I love you my brother! I lost my pop to covid in March of 2020. I've been living a half of life since because my Dad was the soul of my soul. Half of me is gone since March 2020. I feel your pain my brother. Our fathers will give us strength from up above till we meet them again.
Good morning from Lake Jackson. I live 11 miles from the mouth of the Brazos River. Kevin is a low key local hero around here. For those of you who don't know, Lake Jackson/Clute/Freeport has been one of the world's largest industrial complexes since the 40's. The two largest employers in our region are Dow and the Brazosport Independent School District. Originally owned entirely by Dow, it's now parceled out to a variety of petrochem companies. Kevin's song is based on a true, personal story. But, even if it weren't his story, it's still a true story. Almost every guy I know has cycled through the plants for a time at some point in their lives, and almost every family I know has lived the events in the song at one point or another since 1942. The absolute truth to this song makes me misty eyed every time I hear it. A lot of people look down on us blue collar types, but we and our families have gone through Hell to build this country. This song is an anthem and should never be allowed to be forgotten.
It hit me hard when you were reminiscing about fishing and working on cars with your Dad... I need to appreciate those moments with my Dad more... cause when he's gone, he's gone. RIP to your Pops... I love you energy.
That heavy bass is like the railroad sounds you hear in train songs. That's the sound of the refineries on the Ship Channel. I worked there and saw men die on the job. Every morning before the whistle blew, I'd throw up in the parking lot, take a few deep breaths, and cross the bridge into the shipyard where we made the jackets for oil rigs in the Gulf, praying I'd make it out alive.
This song never fails to get a tear out of me and I am ENTIRELY unashamed of it. Men who give their all for those they love deserve the utmost admiration. These tears are an expression of that admiration for those who gave us everything and are no longer here to receive our gratitude, or for whom we could never repay their kindness. Like our boy Gandalf said, I will not say do not weep; for not all tears are an evil.
I just lost my Father Nov 15th... This song has resonated with me since the first time I heard it! My father was fighting cancer, but alive! This song has impacted my life in 3 specific ways... How my Father protected us and sacrificed when no one noticed... How he beat cancer the first time, and fought so hard this time too... He was still keeping the wolves away until the end... And how this song is my son's favorite song.... Because he knows that I am doing my absolute best to keep the wolves away... Sorry for venting, I am just a human that feels this song in my heart.
Great Reaction my friend. This one hits soo much home for me, since he is talking about my hometown. I remember when this exact tanker ship went down, and caught on fire. My dad worked in the refinery all his life. Lost him a couple of years ago, and just lost my stepdad last week. Both of them were amazing men, and they both loved each other. They wanted the best for me and my lil sister. Keep the wolves away for yours now fam. Blessings to you my new friend.
21 years old and raised my 3 siblings and helped raise an adopted brother. this song makes me break down every single time, my dad and I never had a relationship until recently which was torn apart and this song keeps me going
Bro, I don't know you, But I can see from your hurt your father was a great man. From fishing to working on the car, They are memories you keep with you. Pass that sh*t on man. God bless you, and God bless your father! Keep on keepin on!
Man I get that same reaction every time I give this a listen ,,,,as soon as it says to support kids and a wife,,,,man I feel for you in every way,,,I’m so happy the lord let you have a great relation with your pops ,,,Keep spreading that positivity brother ,,let your dad live on through you !! I know he’s up there proud as can be having a son spreading emotion and TRUTH to other men out here !! Let those tears fly brother !!he feels everyone !!
Your not alone, this is one of my favorite songs. I worked in industrial plants, as well as my family. I said to my grandpa one day with grandma there, about a certain job site very hazardous. I asked him if he ever told grandma about this place, he said no. He didn't want her to worry.
You were blessed to have a dad that made you proud and made you happy, above all else though made you a man. You’re emotions are the right emotions to have when losing someone that special, know it’s your turn
It’s so nice to see when a good song can touch so many.. -no matter what color you are. Compare this to new age “rap”.. & what most of our young think is “cool” & polute their minds with 😞
I do agree with you to some extent. This music is much better than rap. But rap does not pollute minds 😭😭 it’s a way to express feelings, as much as any music is. Yes, there’s a lot of rap out there that is soulless and shitty, but there’s also a lot of it that means a lot to the person that made it, and other people too. Just because the music doesn’t sound as pure, doesn’t mean it isn’t. Everybody relates and feels things from different music. Not trying to come at you or anything, and obviously it’s okay to have your own opinion on the matter, but maybe just don’t talk about things in a negative light when you don’t fully understand them (and I know you don’t because if you did, you’d know that a lot of rap is meaningful and about personal experiences, and in fact is not bad for the youth, or anyone, to listen to)
My dad worked himself to the bone so that me and my siblings could go to college for a better life. He still found time to be with us, it didn't matter if he was dead tired coming home from working in the fields in the SC summer. I love him and my mom so much for what they did. Losing my mom a few years ago made me realize how much I took her and my dad for granted. Now my dad and I tell each other we love you as much as we can.
Hey brother, I don't listen to country but this song hits me in the heart. I grew up and still there and know all the true story. I hate this song, but I also love it
The best music moves us, touches our soul and taps into our deepest emotions. I’ve been learning to play this song on my guitar the past couple of weeks because I love it too. Thats what us Dads do… keep the wolves away. Sorry for the loss of your Dad. But, he clearly did a great job raising his boy to be a good man! Prayers up for you and your family brother. 🙏🏼❤️
Dads are the unsung hero’s for real. We love you, you speak truth and kindness, something the world is without anymore.. bless ya bro, love ya.. keep on keeping on..
I used to work with the lead singer’s mom and even had the pleasure of meeting him when I was playing music and living in Texas. The story is true. The drive and passion was reflected in her good heart and his kind soul. It’s your turn to keep the wolves away my guy. Much love.
Bro. This song hits deep. My dad wasnt around for me or the other kids hw created elsewhere. I grew up at the will of other men as a result. This song is my sacrifice to mine. Ill never give up on what i hold dear ro mt heart. Ill gove my last breath to this. Deed off good music ppl... Dont be inflienced to be something you're not at heart. Don't support those that dont support the best you. My mother, was my father. Love you mom, thank you. Let me tell you something about your father. Youre blessed to have memories like that. All those memories are new to me, bc I'm having to create them. Death is never goodbye, its ill see you soon. Dont be sad... We sont want that foe our children. Reflect on the good times. We will all see each other again. My father is gone as well, and when he died i cried for a man i didnt know. Why? Bc i lost something that was so close to me, but id never get a chance to know. The only way I can get that back is through my kids.
I am so sorry for your loss, baby boy. Your dad lives on THROUGH you, and your children to come. Use your time on this earth to live as you were taught. You were blessed to have a good daddy that loved you. Big hugs to you, and may peace and comfort be with you and your family. Prayer being sent up for you all
Hey. I stumbled across your UA-cam channel and your videos are so inspiring and authentic .. they are REAL life and REAL emotions. I am so sorry for the loss of your father and your friend, just know they are in a better place, always watching over you and they are very proud of you and all of your accomplishments. Your dad raised a great man. I know what loss feels like, I’ve lost many aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. It never gets easier but like you said “death is a beautiful thing” I have a request for you, it is Outlook by Morgan Wallen (my favorite country artist) You will love it ❤️
I am right there with you 💯 My dad passed away last year. Stage 4 lung cancer. He worked himself into an early grave. 36 years at Arcelor mittal aka (LTV STEEL) In Cleveland, OH, Everything you said about your Father, I can say the exact same about mine, Not only was he an incredible Father, but an even better Papa Bear to my 2 boys.. His grand boys. Taught them how to be hardworking and honest. How to fix cars. Fish. Man. You are Beautiful Bro. Peace and Love to you and yours. 🥺🥺🥹🥹🥰 💙🩵💚💛❤️💛🩶🤍🖤🩷
I appreciate you buddy. You're a good man. Dad taught, and instilled in you the good stuff. You're gonna go far for your family! Keep laying them lines of family and togetherness ❤️
When I started my job working in the mines this song really hit different looking back realizing my single-parent mother was a mine worker keeping the wolves away all those years ❤
If you haven’t heard the back story to this song you’re missing the entire teal blessing behind this song. It’s a great story, I’d suggest you look up his interview. He actually wrote this song years ago. I was picked up and basically bought from a publisher how sold it without him knowing it……….this song ended up really keeping the wolves away for him and his parents. 🍻
Appreciate the good memories. Was doing CPR on my dad a few years ago on New years day. Didn't pan out. We never got along and i have more "interesting" memories than good. Did his best, just battled demons. I was still there at the end to do the dirty work and would do it again
Sir I'm sorry to hear your pain over your father's loss. I couldn't help but smile and give thanks to my father that I still have. You sir should take comfort in your father having raised a good man. Thank you for the true you and love you put out. I look at my sons now with a lump in my throat telling myself to raise honorable men in God's love. This song is something I play when I'm unable to show fear, stress, pain..... This song reminds me of what it's all about. God bless everyone and Stay In The Fight!
This is biographical. Pay attention to the props in the video, as he ages. His art work, the phone, etc. I was fortunate to see him in Midland Texas. I had a random two days off, looked up what was going in that night. This concert showed up. I googled the band and heard this song. As oil field worker, playing in the oil field, it was a real treat. Sorry about your dad.
I lost my mom to cancer in January of 2018. I was only 10 so I was way too young to lose someone that important in my life. She was my best friend while I was growing up, we did everything together. She slowly slipped away over the span of a few years. Day after day I watched as she got weaker and weaker until the cancer was just too much for her and she was just gone. That feeling of coming home from school and she’s just not there in her bed waiting for me still hurts to this day. I’m 17 now and can’t even remember her voice which sucks. I just wish I would’ve spent more time with her because I was always too scared to be there when she slipped away and now I regret not being there. And I’m supposed to just keep on pushing like it never happened. My dad just moved on like he was just throwing away an old, torn up shirt. I just don’t know what to do anymore. She was everything to me.
Brother, I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your old man. I lost mine this year on February 23rd. This is the very first song I ever sent him as a song for him. I got some more that I think will give you some peace and bring back a flood of good memories. I really felt your emotion in this review man. They’re gone but never forgotten, especially by the sons that they shaped. All love. Larry Fleet - Working man Trey Pendley - when tomorrow starts without me Zach Brown Band - My old man Dean Lewis - how do I say goodbye
Man that’s a great song that really hits home. My daddy kept the wolves away for sure and I miss him. I know you miss yours. There are certain songs that are just instrumentals that get me emotional just because of the melody but when lyrics start telling the story ,what my be your story , tears always come. Props dude Dig your channel! R.I.P. Dads…🤘🏻😢🤘🏻
Great song and reaction, man. God bless you and yours. Sorry for your loss. Lost my father in 09. it gets easier of course, but there is always things that bring up those feelings.
As someone who lived in Freeport for a long time(where he was born and raised) it really is hard to make money there and alot of people struggle and end up homeless or victim of hurricanes
My dad works almost every day and comes home at 1:42 at night just for he family so i know my dad is getting out of shape for work and I am secretly working for the family also and I basically the man of the house when my dad is gone and my dad is 43 years old and am so young still am 13 and I work hard as my dad does so me and him can feed the family ❤
Same here he works as a driver in the refinery In Houston he works get off at 7:45 and get home at 9:00 and had to go to work at 3:30am man it’s tough also being 13 and barely seeing my dad during the day he sacrifices so much for me and my mom😔
Just randomly seen this channel….I’ll never leave! Me and my dad were close. He was a hard working mechanic who made the best out of every experience we had! Made me want to make him proud! We are pretty distant now and this song really hits home and makes me miss holding the flashlight while he worked to keep us afloat! Hang in there fellas
I used to go fishing with my daddy though I didn’t fish Yeh that sounds stupid ! I just wanted to be wherever he was ! He knew I never liked to see him kill a fish he caught He used to say Mary I’ve got one time to close your eyes and put your finger in your ears Thanks for the memory Rickk I’d forgot this memory !! It’s so difficult to watch your cry over your loss of your dear daddy……but you need to cry sweetheart because tears are a balm to the soul I wish I could comfort you Just give you a hug 🫂 This is what you were born to do Rickk So many off us on here can relate so much to your loss I was daddy’s little girl ! I want to see him coming running when I get to Heaven He’s the first face I’ll look for on that day when I go home He loved our young baby regardless of the disabilities he had ! It didn’t matter to my daddy Harrison was his grandson Yes he was sad at the time our son was born for our sake Ill give you a laugh dear Rickk I alway give my son over to daddy when he needed to sleep and my daddy would whistle over him There might not have been a recognisable tune but our son always fell asleep instantly What I’d give for one more day with my dear daddy He was a King among men ! He was my everything He died in 2010 and i will never ever get over his loss The only thing keeps me sane is the love of my dear husband and our young son who was 22yrs old two weeks ago but is still a little child !! I wouldn’t change a hair on his young head ! As I’ve said before Rickk don’t be ashamed of your tears for your father It’s such early days I don’t even know how your holding it together but this dear Rickk is your platform and for all of us who love and care for you so much to give you comfort in anyway we can ! God bless you and your family Rickk Your daddy will never be gone while your here Hugs many Hugs I send to you over that great big ocean that separates us God bless and comfort you xxx❤

I appreciate you buddy. You're a good man. Dad taught, and instilled in you the good stuff. You're gonna go far for your family! Keep laying them lines of family and togetherness ❤️
God bless you, love you too man
thank you for this. God bless.
youre going to be a great dad because your dad was a great dad man.
Beautiful song and reaction ❤
When I started my job working in the mines this song really hit different looking back realizing my single-parent mother was a mine worker keeping the wolves away all those years ❤
My pops showed me this song... inspires me every time i hear it man.... much love to you brother
This one always hits a spot. If you want to see a grown man cry. Its "parts of you" by ron pope.
First line will let you know im a twin.
Appreciate the good memories. Was doing CPR on my dad a few years ago on New years day. Didn't pan out. We never got along and i have more "interesting" memories than good. Did his best, just battled demons. I was still there at the end to do the dirty work and would do it again
I love this song and your reaction.
This is a great song
Sir I'm sorry to hear your pain over your father's loss. I couldn't help but smile and give thanks to my father that I still have. You sir should take comfort in your father having raised a good man. Thank you for the true you and love you put out. I look at my sons now with a lump in my throat telling myself to raise honorable men in God's love.
This song is something I play when I'm unable to show fear, stress, pain.....
This song reminds me of what it's all about.
God bless everyone and Stay In The Fight!
Keep working hard, only you can deny yourself. Much love.
Big hugs
Love loving love
Brother, I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your old man. I lost mine this year on February 23rd. This is the very first song I ever sent him as a song for him. I got some more that I think will give you some peace and bring back a flood of good memories. I really felt your emotion in this review man. They’re gone but never forgotten, especially by the sons that they shaped. All love.
Larry Fleet - Working man
Trey Pendley - when tomorrow starts without me
Zach Brown Band - My old man
Dean Lewis - how do I say goodbye
I think you would really appreciate Cody Johnson "Til You Can't"... The first verse is about fishing with your dad.
This song hits like a ton of bricks
Thank you for sharing
If I was close enough I would love nothing else but to go fishing with you and have those stories about our dayds
I’m sorry for your loss bro. Lost my mom a few years ago, I feel your pain. This song brings me immense emotions knowing my dads all I have left.
emotion dude , so true.. yea
I'm late to the conversation, but I am so sorry for the loss of your dad.
Hey man hugs. We all in a boat. Let's keep it afoat.
Man that’s a great song that really hits home. My daddy kept the wolves away for sure and I miss him. I know you miss yours. There are certain songs that are just instrumentals that get me emotional just because of the melody but when lyrics start telling the story ,what my be your story , tears always come. Props dude
Dig your channel!
R.I.P. Dads…🤘🏻😢🤘🏻
Great song and reaction, man. God bless you and yours.

As someone who lived in Freeport for a long time(where he was born and raised) it really is hard to make money there and alot of people struggle and end up homeless or victim of hurricanes
My whole family grew up like this! Mesothelioma took a lot of people from us!
Sorry to hear about your dad, I felt the same about my granpa
Sorry for your lost but he lives in your heart
And God bless your father
This… this is what music sounds like.
Good Dads never die. They live on through their children and grand children. In fact, if you’re a believer in Christ, he really never dies.
❤ love Ya and Hugs
My Dad kept the wolves away too...Hugs
Awesome song ❤
I used to go fishing with my daddy though I didn’t fish Yeh that sounds stupid ! I just wanted to be wherever he was ! He knew I never liked to see him kill a fish he caught He used to say Mary I’ve got one time to close your eyes and put your finger in your ears Thanks for the memory Rickk I’d forgot this memory !! It’s so difficult to watch your cry over your loss of your dear daddy……but you need to cry sweetheart because tears are a balm to the soul I wish I could comfort you Just give you a hug 🫂 This is what you were born to do Rickk
So many off us on here can relate so much to your loss I was daddy’s little girl ! I want to see him coming running when I get to Heaven He’s the first face I’ll look for on that day when I go home He loved our young baby regardless of the disabilities he had ! It didn’t matter to my daddy Harrison was his grandson Yes he was sad at the time our son was born for our sake
Ill give you a laugh dear Rickk I alway give my son over to daddy when he needed to sleep and my daddy would whistle over him There might not have been a recognisable tune but our son always fell asleep instantly What I’d give for one more day with my dear daddy He was a King among men !
Cried with you bro.
