I always really loved this song because it makes me think of my own dad, especially because I first discovered this song when my dad was practically working himself to death, he’d come home barely able to move and go back to work barely moving the next day, he’d say he felt like he was dying, but he fought to keep the wolves away nonetheless
This one hits home for me. Not only because I'm a Texan growing up in Pasadena working the refineries when I got out of the service but also because I was Injured in the ITC fire.
I grew up across the channel in Channelview. In the summers, the south wind carried good old "Stinkadena" our way. :) My dad worked on the channel. I can relate.
I’m in Deer Park born & raised. Helped out with ITC in 2019 while the kids/wife left to Conroe. Yeah dude we’re all here just counting days unfortunately. The amount of crap that I’ve inhaled or been exposed too is unreal. Wife left me 2yrs ago and now it’s just me & my boys while I’m still fighting to keep the wolves away. Hope you’re doing better! Nothing but love from down the road
This song always makes me think of my son in law,,working 2 jobs to take care of my 2 grand daughters.....I sent him this song a frw years ago and told him how proud I am of him......
Dude, been loving your reviews. No other channel can break down the lyrics like you can. Stumbled onto you with the Hardy and Tyler Childers reviews. I also love all genres not just country! Keep the reviews coming!
I heard this song several years ago. Hits real close to home. Freeport Tx. The opening line "took my first breath where the muddy Brazos spills into the Gulf of Mexico" is great. I literally cross the bridge over the Brazos River 5 miles from the mouth of the river. Work in the Chemical plants myself, as does my dad. Providing is a must.
I love how you react to songs. Like you keep the reactions in that perfect time span and you don't pause the song evey 5 seconds you keep it rolling and you say very meaningful stuff when you're breaking down the lyrics and stuff. I love the content you have especially the stuff you're doing on country right now
I have really been enjoying your venture into country music. I love this song! Have you discovered Chris Stapleton yet? His voice is incredibly powerful and full of soul. Check out "Fire Away" if you get the chance. It got me all up in my feels.
Just watched the original music video and the backstory like you said and WOW!!! Amazing song from the story/lyrics, production, and music video. Sheesh!!! Thanks for reacting Fisch! Now I need to hear more from this guy.
I used to work with the lead singer’s mom. The story is true. I even had the pleasure of meeting him when I was living in Texas and playing music. The drive and passion was reflected in his kind soul. One of a kind.
I take my comment back..that verse after the settlement came..that hits home! My pops was a school bus driver, had a stroke and lost his license..currently has seizures..he's done his job, now I'll do mine 😌
This song mirrors my life so much, he’s singing about his dad that works in the oil field and my dad worked in the oil field my entire life and they nearly worked him into the ground on a couple occasions. And the company he’s talking about in this song is the company my dad worked for and when I was 13 my dad had shit go down at work too that affected us. Countless overtime hours and it gave me and my mom a beautiful life. Glad he’s retired now and now I work at a refinery 😅
Don’t know how I stumble across these videos but love em. It’s like showing a friend a song you love and them actually loving the song to, and really listening to it. Keep it up fella!
All of their albums are solid. Pocket Full of Misery is just a jam with strong lyrics. Liquor Store is another. But really, pick one & you can’t go wrong. Love me some Uncle Lucius.
A really cool song that I heard on spotify the other day was called Anymore by Pawns or Kings. Its kind of indie-folk-country. the whistling on this song reminds me of it.
My father and grandfather had a lawn care company together and my grandfather passed away unexpectedly and ever since fresh out if high school I’ve been working with him and some how this song hits home. My grandfather gave his soul everyday so is my dad and I
Kevin is an AMAZING person and singer. He sing from the heart with all his songs. You should look up and review his songs Don't it feel good to smile and I would love to get your take on his Sweet Highs and Lows with the ranges he hits with his voice in that one. Freeport Texas is the town where the Brazos spills into the Gulf of Mexico. Great review here bro!!!!
He's back on tour. It's been quite a while since he has toured. Got tickets to his concert in Davenport Iowa in July. Tickets we're like 30 bucks a piece. Look like he was traveling around quite a bit. Might be in your area sometime soon.
I’ve spent the last 2 hours binge watching your reaction videos and I think you would LOVE the song David by Cody Jinks. It’s a phenomenal story telling song and his voice is beautiful. I also think That’s Damn Rock and Roll by Eric Church would be a great fit for these reaction videos!!
I think you’d really like Benjamin Tod. He’s unbelievably raw and real. Doesn’t necessarily have a classically “good” voice but I love it because it fits his music so well, and his voice and lyrics convey so much emotion. He’s an exceptional songwriter, in the same vein as Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson. Some good ones from him are “Sorry For the Things,” “Using Again,” “Not Coming Home,” and “We Ain’t Even Kin.” Cheers!
He starts off talking about freeport tx and the begins talking about all the refineries from Freeport to Beaumont. To sum up the area. Hit a little close to home considering I work in the trade transporting any and everything to come out of the refineries
The whistle is so perfect for this song!! I love reading the comments and seeing people pointing out all the things I have been telling you since the beginning!! I knew that once word spread and your channel grew, people of every background would gravitate toward your infectious and positive energy and amazing knowledge of every single aspect of a performance!! Another great reaction!!
The first time i heard this song was on Yellowstone and it was just part of it. Found it on I tunes. has become one of my fav songs. Sad they are no longer together. This song is not new, I find it really sad i found this song now. Would have loved to seen this group life
Glad the most recent reviews have been about Texas Red Dirt/ Americana/ Bluegrass music. They play amazing but the songwriting really takes it over. I’m glad I came across your reactions and hope to hear more!
I love your appreciation for all of the instrumentals man! Gotta listen to The Cadillac Three! Only three guys but on a lot of their songs you would never guess that it’s only three dudes
Totally agree...I try and find high quality performances cause I like to see more raw stuff and also it has a less chance of being blocked or demonetized . Thank you for watching
Just picked up on the channel when I was watching a bunch of people reacting to Hardy- Wait in the Truck. Love all the breakdowns. And I think you would LOVE Sturgill Simpson.
Yes this song is full of subtlety but they can freakin jam. We follow them all over Texas. There’s nothing like a live Uncle Lucius show in a sold out venue. Gruene Hall needs a new roof every time they play there. SUPER nice guys too. They will take pics and sign autographs until the last person leaves.
They broke up a few years back, but just announced they are getting back together. Also, if you have time check out the live version of ‘liquor store’ at the county line. Opening of the song, they play the guitar with a violin bow
My buddy hired Kevin Galloway to play acoustic on his back deck this fall. He told us that night they had decided to get the band back together and would be announcing it the next day. It was an epic night!
I watched the ones on Zach Bryan- Another powerful lyric one is 'Leaving" and this is recommended from someone who has watched him for about four years now. I know when I started there was only a few released on apple music. But first found him on here. Been a fan ever since
Great song! I would love to see you react to a few songs by JJ Grey. Lochloosa (live with intro), The Sun is Shining Down, and This River. Great channel, I like your vibe and insight into songs I've known for a while.
"There was a fire at the refinery. Your dad is in a helicopter on the way to Galveston." I've gotten that phone call. Every kid in the oil field country knows what that means. Fortunately my dad survived and is alive and well.
Brand new to the channel, just discovered it on my Christmas break from work. The algorithm has aligned as you've hit on a number of my favourite artists lately. I'd love for you to check out "The War Inside of Me" by The Lost Dog Streetband
Just to add, that( inciting real emotions) is what makes truly genius music. I also noticed you play as well. Are you in a band. Since we're somewhat like minded, could you send me your stuff? If there's a band you're in; what's it named?
Another video, another compliment to you Fischtank! I found you through HARDY’s “Wait in the Truck” and have watched every video since - especially country. Could you please look into Warren Zeiders? His songs “Up to no Good,” & “Dark Night” are my favourites. He also released a song a couple years back called “Ride the Lightning” which recently got a remix from Travis Barker!
This band is so underrated its crazy
I always really loved this song because it makes me think of my own dad, especially because I first discovered this song when my dad was practically working himself to death, he’d come home barely able to move and go back to work barely moving the next day, he’d say he felt like he was dying, but he fought to keep the wolves away nonetheless

I grew up across the channel in Channelview. In the summers, the south wind carried good old "Stinkadena" our way. :) My dad worked on the channel. I can relate.
We lived for 8 years in the Brazosport area, where Dow Chemical and BASF are located. Wow, this song really hits!
I’m in Deer Park born & raised.
Helped out with ITC in 2019 while the kids/wife left to Conroe.
Yeah dude we’re all here just counting days unfortunately. The amount of crap that I’ve inhaled or been exposed too is unreal.

This song always makes me think of my son in law,,working 2 jobs to take care of my 2 grand daughters.....I sent him this song a frw years ago and told him how proud I am of him......
Reminds me of my dad, a blue collar worker. Hard working, but a soft side. Loved this song, and what a great reaction, thanks ❤
This song here hits home. I literally grew up on the Brazos River. Love the reaction!
Absolutely love this journey into country you’re taking. So much passion, and truth in the words of many country songs. Much love brother 🖤
Dude, been loving your reviews. No other channel can break down the lyrics like you can. Stumbled onto you with the Hardy and Tyler Childers reviews. I also love all genres not just country! Keep the reviews coming!
the musicians play perfectly and a voice that tells such an emotional story - amazing!
Every single note is on point they are making them instruments sing a beautiful melody
Heard this song in the first season of Yellowstone and immediately started listening to it on Spotify😂
This has been one of my personal favorites for a while now...thanks for sharing it
The studio version with the whistling hits really hard
I heard this song several years ago. Hits real close to home. Freeport Tx. The opening line "took my first breath where the muddy Brazos spills into the Gulf of Mexico" is great. Ohh yesssss......I saw him live a few years back. a buddy gave me tickets and I went and it was incredible. hes a beast
If you do Chris try Death Row. It's tough as hell, and nobody does it.
Cold by him is sooo good!
Just watched the original music video and the backstory like you said and WOW!!! Amazing song from the story/lyrics, production, and music video. Sheesh!!! Thanks for reacting Fisch! Now I need to hear more from this guy.
this song made me appreciate my father immensely and realize all hes done for me and my mother , truly a beautiful song
I used to work with the lead singer’s mom. The story is true. I even had the pleasure of meeting him when I was living in Texas and playing music. The drive and passion was reflected in his kind soul. One of a kind.
For people who don’t know what he means by the “Wolves” is referring to “the big man” the government going after their money
Also the bill collectors or death depending on the verse.
Pretty obvious
His daddy worked on an oil rig hints the line pumps poison in to the Galveston bay
Yup we know
I think the wolves are also, poverty, sickness, and the big man.
I take my comment back..that verse after the settlement came..that hits home! My pops was a school bus driver, had a stroke and lost his license..currently has seizures..he's done his job, now I'll do mine 😌
Uncle Lucius is my favorite band.
I’m so glad way more people know this song now.
This song mirrors my life so much, he’s singing about his dad that works in the oil field and my dad worked in the oil field my entire life and they nearly worked him into the ground on a couple occasions. YESSSSS.....That is the whole Idea. I miss saving up money to listen to an album with friends. Doing these reactions gives me that feeling again :)
It's cool how you pointed out their finesse, it's hard on stage to stay chill and soft.. thats some fantastic focus they have.
Damnit boy. When you think it couldn’t get better he hits my all time favorite song. Hell yeah. I love these videos man. Never stop.
All of their albums are solid. Pocket Full of Misery is just a jam with strong lyrics. Liquor Store is another. But really, pick one & you can’t go wrong. Love me some Uncle Lucius.
Southern music for the thinking’ man .
Somewhere Else is my favorite song.
Great reaction man. It's tough to keep the wolves away.

Now I'm on uncle Lucius. This is another one I found in my country dive in, this one hit me too
I’m loving the content
Love watching you bud. You’re doing awesome keep it up 👍
Such a good reaction
I grew up along the Brazos where he’s singing about. My Dad worked in the plants. Love this song.
Definitely hope he does David. That songwriting still has me getting choked up.
Chris Knight "Down the River". Storytelling at it's best
Literally!! You can make a badass short film about the song alone
Oh hell yeah. Then Long Black Highway. He will fall down a Chris Knight rabbit hole.
Always picking apart every aspect of a song. Great work, man
I appreciate that! glad you enjoyed it : )
Kate McKannon by Colter Wall. Great storytelling. One of my favorite murder ballads.
Such a great song!!
That whistle is super human 😮😮
Been binging your videos for the last 2 hrs starting with a ZB reaction. Love your channel. New subscriber

Whistle hella good! I think I'm most impressed by that 😅
This song is about where i'm from. really cool to hear it
The first time i heard this song was on Yellowstone and it was just part of it. Found it on I tunes. has become one of my fav songs. Sad they are no longer together. This song is not new, I find it really sad i found this song now. Would have loved to seen this group life

Been waiting for this!!
Mr Fischtank you are one genuine dude! Love the videos
Man..great video great channel
Support from Ireland
I love your appreciation for all of the instrumentals man!
Gotta listen to The Cadillac Three! Only three guys but on a lot of their songs you would never guess that it’s only three dudes
Excellent bud 😊
Great reaction. One of my favorite songs. The video for it probably lets the guitar work shine just a bit more.
Totally agree...I try and find high quality performances cause I like to see more raw stuff and also it has a less chance of being blocked or demonetized . Thank you for watching
THE BEST REACTION CHANNEL REACTING TO THE BEST SONGS!!! Love you homie😂
Just picked up on the channel when I was watching a bunch of people reacting to Hardy- Wait in the Truck. Love all the breakdowns. And I think you would LOVE Sturgill Simpson.
Bro this country dive just keeps getting better. Keep it up man some great content

This is my favorite song!!!
Billy strings dust in a baggie is a must
And a fun reaction with a lot of aspects to react to is Home Free - Man of Constant Sorrow
Amazing
Helllll yessss! #LETSGOOO #keepthewolvesaway
Yup my life love it
I watched the ones on Zach Bryan- Another powerful lyric one is 'Leaving" and this is recommended from someone who has watched him for about four years now. I know when I started there was only a few released on apple music. But first found him on here. Been a fan ever since
Mike love-permanent holiday would be pretty cool to see you react to. Such a chill song. Enjoy the videos.
Love, love, love this song.
Song suggestion: The Honeycutters, "Mr. Cody". Great storytelling.
Been listening to this song on Pandora for awhile… Great song:)
singing and whistling in mind, watch Nick Shoulders Rather Low on Western AF. 10/10 honestly
I HIGHLY recommend Flatland Cavalry. They are putting out some great music. My favorites are “A Life Where We Work Out” and “Sleeping Alone”.
I consider this red dirt country. These young guys coming up are taking it back old school and I for one, fucking love it....
Really digging your reactions brother! Just subscribed. Well done!
Wish they were still together. Love this song.
It really chaps my ass that Uncle Lucius isn't together anymore
I feel like this song may not be relatable to everyone but if you get it, you get it
Great song! I would love to see you react to a few songs by JJ Grey. Lochloosa (live with intro), The Sun is Shining Down, and This River. Great channel, I like your vibe and insight into songs I've known for a while.
Lochloosa with that intro….. life changing for me. It literally made me rethink how I was living my life
68 by Nolan Taylor. Absolute banger for a lyrical review
🙏🏻 🙏🏻PLEEEASE react to Whiskey Myers - Broken Window Serenade🙏🏻🙏🏻 I PROMISE YOUUUU, you will love it. You will feeeel the emotion so hard! #LETSGOOO
Love it
Yes yes yes ❤❤❤❤❤
Nose on the grindstone - Tyler Childers… love the content btw
keeping the wolves away is the story of life.
"There was a fire at the refinery. Your dad is in a helicopter on the way to Galveston." I've gotten that phone call. Every kid in the oil field country knows what that means.
Fortunately my dad survived and is alive and well.
I would love if you covered JJ Grey and Mofro. Their live performance from Atlanta. Either Lochloosa or Brighter Days…… but definitely Lochloosa
Great music comes from hard places.
Just discovered your channel. You rock! Loved this and your whiskey Myers video. Maybe "Broken Window Serenade," by Whiskey Myers?
You should do cross canadian ragweed either dimebag, 17, or Alabama!!
Brand new to the channel, just discovered it on my Christmas break from work. The algorithm has aligned as you've hit on a number of my favourite artists lately. I'd love for you to check out "The War Inside of Me" by The Lost Dog Streetband

Love what you are doing and is a great song!!! Check out “providence” Poor man’s Poison!
Fuck that whistle got me😮
Another video, another compliment to you Fischtank!
The cover Zeiders did of “Feeling Whitney” is pretty legit too
@@bigz5262 I agree, but I feel that song is much more appreciated if you know and love the original version by Posty
@@assidoashd you could be right. I’m not much of a hip hop fan so I never heard the original until much later. My Pandora loves the cover though haha
@@bigz5262 he does an interesting version of “Colt 45” as well!
not sure if you have reviewed them yet but check out anything by the Turnpike Troubadours
“The Whistler” by the White Buffalo… talk about whistling 😂 this song is POWERFUL and about PTSD in soldiers once they come home. Give it a try
That whistle reminds me of The White Buffalo - "The Whistler"
You also need to check out "Austin" by Koe Wetzel.
Can you review a song from Muscadine Bloodline. Specifically Evinrudin' or Dyin For a Livin'. Great review as all ways.
