I'd prefer to listen to this than to our neighbour wailing her prayers 5 times a day. Or our other neighbour walking on her hardwood floors with her heels at night. Or our other neighbours' loud partying, fighting and / or effin each and every weekend.
I think the only reason a few didn't rotate was under-lubed moulds. Plus it irked me when they didn't top them up after turning like you're kinda meant to, to ensure they're full and chewy
Okay, so people complaining this thing doesn't work as the person doing the video flipped the takoyaki a bit, let me explain a little. There's a small shopping center within walking distance from home and I'm a usual customer of the takoyaki stand there so I can say I know a bit about how they cook these as they are cooked right in front of you when you buy. The machine works. You don't have to help it do its job. I do know however, that you have to add a few more splashes of batter when turning the balls during manual cooking so as to "fill in the gaps". As you can see on this video, there is a hollow gap on the finished balls. Why? This ties in to why the demonstrator helped the machine turn the balls. From what I can tell, the demonstrator probably wanted a concise video, so instead of waiting for the machine to do a full cycle of rotating the batter into a ball and also adding in batter to make it a full sphere, the person helped the machine turn them. You see, if the person added more batter then that means a longer cooking time, and then a longer time watching a video full of nothing but the machine making sounds and doing it's job which has already been shown it can do. It was enough to just show it could form a semblance of a ball so that's what happened. We could argue they could just cut the video, but then people would say the machine actually couldn't do it's job thus the cut and people were turning the balls off-camera. In case the myriad of takoyaki videos on the side of the page hasn't clued you in, normal takoyaki end up a bit bigger than the half-sphere pan it is cooked in due to adding batter whilst turning.
I'm not an expert at any of this, but it looks to me like you're using it wrong. First off, i think you waited too long to turn the machine on. Secondly, i think you're supposed to put the dough in clockwise, not counterclockwise. So... start the machine, wait for one of the little legs to lift, and when it comes back out, then pour the dough in, and let it flip away. Because you didn't wait for the leg to come back out at 2:50, the takoyaki ball there had a weird shape.
IMHO that clunking cover is intended to be removed after filling as it protects from spills into the mechanism. There should be a reason it has handle.
Lmao those are hollowed af! I think the "flipping" part it did was alright, you don't really need to "help". I'd try adding the mix one more time after the first flip, then just let it work for a couple more minutes. But it's just my theory anyway.
It should be like that, whatch other videos of street takoyaki stands and they add more batter after the first flip and then again later on... The uploader didn't know that and just let it like that. The machine works fine, it's the guy that is not doing everything well.
I'm sure they're still delicious, but yes, you'd need to follow around behind the flip mechanism and top up the batter for at least 2 cycles. It'd be a disaster if you added batter AHEAD of the flip and it flowed into the center, but should be easy to avoid doing that. 9/10 would love to own this gadget.
I think one mistake would be not adding more batter the first time the machine flipped the ball and maybe stop the flipping then continue it when the added batter is more cooked. I'm not sure though
That's how your supposed to do it, I don't think you'd need to stop the machine though. It's going so slowly you could just follow adding batter right behind it
+Innocence ;-; oh i see. i dont know since i've never made takoyaki in my life. but i watch videos and they usually add more batter before flipping it fully.
I think it did alright, but didn't work the best. There is probably another way to do it better with the machine. The takoyaki wasn't fully round which is a large staple of the shape, and there were little holes in it. Also, I think putting the octopus in after the batter would of helped a bit more.
+angelsinthewindow This person probably just wanted to do a really quick and basic showcase of the automatic takoyaki maker, not really considering the taste or the method. Just a quick, "Hey look at this thing! It does stuff." But your points are quite valid and agreeable.
+angelsinthewindow Perhaps also adding a tiny bit more batter as they were all flipped the first time would have helped as well other wise you're left with some weird monstrosity.
+angelsinthewindow Part of the problem was the egg was added counter clockwise, but the machine runs clockwise. So they were flipped in reverse order and some were overcooked at the beginning. That's what left some with holes.
+angelsinthewindow yeah, I agree ,that holes come from the incomplete turn from the machine,it just turn the half cooked takoyaki tilt too long,so the takoyaki spills coocked even before the machine finish to complete the rotation, you also right, you should put butter 1st then sink the octopus in it. sorry bad engrish
Karthik Raj I think it was a lack of batter after the initial pouring. Maybe if they poured in some batter let it cook a little then put in the octopus and then after the first flip poured in more batter it might have more to grab onto. But I don’t know the instructions of the machine.
