I agree with Sue Straw, there are no words to describe it, like hearing every American who ever lived, along with the voice of God singing our national anthem through him into his violin for me to FEEL the way I do every time I hear it. Ren...the acoustics in this studio inside the Wanda Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University are godly! But I have a confession to make...I recorded the audio in another space and shot the video in this large rehearsal/tracking studio. The audio was done with a rode nt5 stereo mic placed about 8-10 feet away in the center of the atrium of The Meinders’s School of Business - also on the campus of Oklahoma City University. Marvelous rendition of our National Anthem. I've always believed our Anthem stood for all the men and women, regardless of race or religion, those that have performed some measure of service for our country. That service might be being responsible parents or performing a public service or helping a neighbor and of course serving in the military. For me it doesn't represent whomever happens to be the sitting president or the DC ranks of government but the people. To protest it is an insult to the most sacred symbol that represents the very people that have allowed you to live in this great country.

This arrangement seems crazy hard.. And Im not a bad violinist I like to think lmao
I never ended up filming it, sadly. I did perform it at his retirement, though! It wasn't that difficult - the base of the song is still the same, there's just a lot of trills and things thrown in, You've got to be precise with the double stops and chords though. There's a link to the sheet music in the song description.

It's going well, thank you ! I play a lot of tunes by ear, currently working on some of the Beatles oldies (Eleanor Rigby, Norwegian Wood and so on). Star Spangled Banner - yup - but NOT at THAT level although, I have a reasonable, first-pos version incorporating a bit of my own "style" hahaha ! It's a great journey with this instrument, I'm loving every minute of it!

I'm Canadian, but the US Anthem hits better than ours, atleast our new one, I'd say "The Maple Leaf Forever" Is equally as good as this

This person isn’t actually playing what you’re hearing. It’s clear that he was playing the star spangled banner but the sounds don’t match his playing.
Edit: for the record my guess is that this was performed in a recording studio and this performance is just for the music video. The violinist can clearly play, although I’m not sure he was playing this performance (the sounds imply more sophisticated techniques than I see him playing)
Thanks for your time and interest in my video! You are correct that this audio is not from the video shoot. However, I am the one playing, and I recorded it in one straight take using a rode nt4 stereo microphone in the atrium of the Meinders School of Business just across campus from this rehearsal hall where the video was filmed - all at Oklahoma City University, my alma mater.
I actually made this video as an audition to perform national anthem for the OKC Thunder. You can actually check out live performances of this for the Thunder and more recently for a Pacers game a few months ago. But it is anyhow common enough to do a video shoot to a track. I always wished that it could have been a little better lined up with the video, but I was working with basic equipment and no budget at the time.
