Contestants: Chris Curtin vs Mike Schoenwetter - Playing Games: Joust, Star Wars, Bally's Journey, Donkey Kong Jr, Pole Position. Grand Prize: Bump 'N Jump Video Arcade Game.
Growing up poor, this show was a big part of how I experienced the arcades when I was a kid. I think this aired early in the morning on Saturdays, and I had to miss the show many times due to some church class. So, I didn't get to watch the show too many times.
That Pac-Man question was weird. It should have been worded "All of the GHOSTS in Pac-Man have 2 names except one..". I don't blame the players for looking confused! Ah well; I'm still thrilled to see all these episodes! Thank you STARCADE!!!
There were actually two different Journey games featured on the show. The one here was released by Bally Midway and was... interesting. The other Journey released by Stern was a more straightforward space shoot-em-up and had nothing to do with the band.
Initially it was going to be a different game altogether, with a camera on top of the cabinet that would take a picture of your face and put it on your character, so the character you controlled would have your face on it, or else it would put your face next to your score on the high score table. That plan got scrapped when someone mooned the camera during play testing, because they couldn’t have that showing up in the game. That camera instead was used to digitize the faces of the Journey members for the game that would become Midway’s Journey.
I hope someone from the staff of this channel can answer this question... Three years ago I found and bookmarked a website that hosted every Starcade episode except for two that according to the site inadvertently became lost media. Anyway my question is, "What happened to that site?". Because last month I can no longer access it. Was it taken down due to legal issues?
I don't have an answer, but I distinctly remember the site was owned/operated by the people who made the show, not fans. So it shouldn't have been a rights issue
Starcade.tv - the official Starcade website was taken down by the Original Producers, which is me .. Mavis Arthur .... James Caruso passed Jan 27 2021. I remain the sole owner of Starcade. I chose to take starcade.tv down ... and keep this one. I will be uploading all the shows to this site in the coming weeks ... stay tuned. __Mavis
@@starcadetvv I would RUN home from the bus stop to catch Starcade on WTBS. Watching this show gives me that warm fuzzy feeling like watching old family home movies. My wife doesn't understand lol. I could watch every episode a million times and then watch it again. I just want to thank you guys for creating this show, AND for changing to Geoff Edwards as host. Nothing against Mark Richards, but the show went to a whole other level once Geoff took over as host. Miss that guy....
@@starcadetvv Hello Mavis. Sorry to hear about James Caruso. Will there ever be a dvd release of the (almost) complete series, with pilots, hotlines etc? I would buy that in a heartbeat. This is one of my all time favorite tv shows.

I’ve never seen this show before. I am utterly addicted now!
I don't think this show ever aired in the Philadelphia area
I missed the Starcade TV website. Thanks for sharing one of the two episodes tonight.
wait a minute. did that website get taken down?
@@kevinmcqueary7395 It seems so as I can't access it on my bookmark anymore.
@@kevinmcqueary7395 Damn, looks like it. That was a great database for the show. Hopefully all the info made it to Wikipedia or something
That’s a great game lineup.
This was just such a great show. I love these clips.
The Journey game had some nice raster artwork.
I wonder if the guy that won the Sinistar arcade still has it.
I had no idea that Journey had a game.

Journey is one of my faves and we still have one at my local vintage arcade.
They also had an Atari 2600 game .
@@MrPoestyle I have that one. It’s Journey Escape. Different scenario altogether, but fun.

well done fellow
Wonder if the fella that won on Joust likes eggs?
I often wonder how many games were given away.
