You have mastered bush crafting to the point of it's absolute simplicity. There is genius in simplicity! As a Canadian resident of 61 yrs I have to say, this is the strangest winter I've ever lived through. Your skills might be essential earlier than we might all think. Great video, thank you!
You are one of the few campers that can cook eggs the way I like them, without all of the scorching that so many do because they are not patient so they cook with too much heat. Also, you cooked the bacon crisp. I want to go camping with you.
Prettiest feathersticks I've ever seen. Takes a steady hand and patience. Love the old school camp. Well done, from an old woodsman. (And dang, did that breakfast make me hungry... perfect.)
Much as I enjoyed your 'Life of Woodsman' video series with that great tent and woodstove. Your Bedroll limited gear camping trips are my favourite. Glad you are getting such mild weather for Alberta at this time of the year, but as you said. Spring is still a long way off, stay safe and warm and looking forward to your next adventure!
Minimal gear camp but maximum enjoyment watching this video. I admire people who can travel this way. Realistically how comfortable is to hike with ropes as harness for the bedroll and other gear.
What would be better than having a cup of tea after a long day and sitting down to watch your new video! Been following you for quite a while now and watch all your videos, and I must say you are a huge inspiration to many, and your every video is an experience. God bless and happy trails!
G’day, Osc4r15. I agree with you about tea. I always take 4-6 varieties camping. I lay the Ziplock baggie on a picnic table so the guys can have their choices. Tea somehow both relaxes me, and picks me up too. Much simpler than toggling around with gear to make coffee. I have peppermint in a flower garden, and clip it off every week or so, dry it, and make some of my tea from that. Nice. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
@@jackvoss5841 I personally always carry some tea with me, although I love campfire coffee too. But you can't go wrong with tea! Glad to hear you make some yourself too, I'd love to try that!
Uncomplicated, simplistic and a genuine pleasure to join you on another great camp out, the more basic the camp, the more I like it. Of course all your camps are an enjoyable experience that I find particularly uplifting but there's something about minimal needs that brings one closer to nature. Great fires, great food, great time, I'll be having Elk tonight in your honor albeit at home, not in the wild. Thanks for the adventure and some peace and tranquility, just excellent. Enjoy!
It sure was a great outing. Thank you for watching! I'm jealous of your elk! It's been a few years since I've had elk meat. I need to put a lot more effort into being successful this coming hunting season. Happy trails my friend!
Love your videos Riley your definitely one of the best Bushcraft channels on UA-cam. I like your style of making your own gear and minimalist approach. Reminding us the more you know the less you need. Which allows a closer connection with the forest, and what you need doesn't have to cost a lot. The setup and 21lb weight is remanisct of what Nessmuck most likely would have tramped with. Lastly that's not bacon grease. That's your skillet crying tears of joy!!
You and I share the same PASSION & SIMPLICITY for the outdoors . I just returned from 4 days in the mountains and can’t wait to get back out again . Love your videos
These videos have such an awesome vibe. It's not for me but I really love the minimal camping and practicality in everything you do. Always looking forward to the next video - thank you for sharing your experiences in the backcountry!
Awesome video never disappointed when I watch your videos. I would love to be able to camp/bushcraft in your country. Truly blessed bud keep them coming.
I know I'm late to the party, but all I will say is I've never seen another "bushcraft" channel use a flint and steel in anything that wasnt a super-fine birds nest of super fine material. Never seen it done in a feather stick bundle. Thanks for the demostration and the great vid.
At 3:50, when you don't want to chance cutting yourself pull the stick instead of pushing the knife. Good job! I love watching your channel as well as Corporal's Corner and Ranger Survival. I always learn or relearn methods to do various things. There are several ways to manage in the back country and between the three of you most are presented. Thanks and may God be with you.
So sollte es sein, einfach und praktisch.👍 Vielen Dank das Du diesen Monat mit uns geteilt hast!! Ich freue mich schon auf's nächste Mal 😌. Alles gute und viele Grüße aus dem fernen Deutschland 👋
Glad you got to get out and enjoy the good weather in the best way possible. I enjoy your trips like this because they largely mirror my own, and I always love to see someone enjoying the same aspects of the trip as I do on mine. I do like a little milk with my tea, though 😀 Thanks for bringing us along!
I really liked how you put the bacon on top of the potatoes after it was mostly done cooking. Keeps it warm, still renders some fat, while preventing it from burning. Nice! And those eggs were PRIMO!! I can’t wait to go camping!
You and your videos are the ABSOLUTE BEST and my favorites on bushcraft!!! Your video skills are great, but what really sets it off is your amazing bushcraft skills. I love your approach to keeping things simple and gadget free. Your narrative is educational, and your written summary answered all the questions I had while watching. You are amazing!!! Thank you for sharing a beautiful experience and teaching us the "nuance" of the wild camping. Please keep up your world-class work!
Love these videos, you're one of the few channels I'm subscribed to where I'll drop what I'm doing and watch a new upload straight away. God bless mate
Yeah that featherstick was like nothing I've ever seen on a video or in real life! Way less bloody knuckles on that one (although hopefully those go away anyway with more practice)
Just like a outdoor burrito 😆, another great campout 👍, great food and a peaceful time, keep up the great work and looking forward to your next video 😁🤙🤙🤙
We've been getting more snowfall than we've been getting past few winters here in PA. Our winters have been mild but this year the snow has been around more but then getting an early Spring which hasn't happened in years either.... 🙃
Thank you for reigniting my love for camping. I was a Boy Scout as a kid, and enjoyed camping. The love for camping kinda got lost when you have a job and bills to pay. But, when the S inevitably does HTF, it’s important to know how to survive in the wilderness. When I do have a kid, I’m gonna teach them everything I know and what I’ve learned from this channel about survival. Thank you again, my dude.
Very well done. I like the simplicity of it all, and that you used good three-ply rope instead of the modern woven stuff. There's a lot you can do with three-ply line to really spruce things up around the house and camp. That breakfast you made looked absolutely divine and I'm a bit jealous. I'll have to fry up some bacon and eggs in the morning!
You are a hardcore camper my friend, respect! I love camping in the woods too, but, I like having my dog and my tent for extra comfort. My dog act as my alarm and lets me know whenever any dangerous animal is near. My tent provides protection from the wind, rain and snow. The extra comfort makes camping a little bit more enjoyable for me. However, you are much braver than I and I respect that about you and your camping style! Keep on camping my friend….
9:15 Seeing as you like a good amount of pepper(as I do) I’d like to offer a suggestion. Pepper burns fairly easy and looses a lot of its flavor. As a chef, I always recommend to cook with salt and season with pepper. Adding the pepper during the last minute of cooking will toast the pepper but not burn it. Or you can even add it while the meat is resting. CHEERS!!!
Looks like you've been researching how to tie a Manny. That takes me back to my outfitting days. Great way to carry a bedroll. Enjoy your youth my friend these are great skills to have an uncertain times.
Looks like tasty food to me lol 12:13 I appreciate all you guys on the UA-cam that camp all seasons! More that you, and some others do it solo, my hats off to you ! I am getting too old to go it alone anymore lol ty
Thank you for showing us how you roll up and tie off your pack. I think me and little dude may learn/practice it tomorrow in the safety of the indoors. Lord knows that I'll want that knowledge if 💩hits the fan!
That's very compact and convenient without no extra kits of gear ... I wish I could try, as I'm old enough to carry extra stuff for camping, ha ha! Thanks for nice video!
