- Why Should I Hire You Over The Other Candidates?// If you want to differentiate yourself from other professionals who are seeking the same position as you in the marketplace, the first step is being able to complete the sentence:
“A company hires me over other professionals because…”?
You must show how you are first, only, faster, better, or cheaper than other people who want to do what you’re doing in the world?
What are you offering that’s hard to come by? What are you offering that’s both rare and valuable?
5 Tips to finish that sentence
Tip #1: Make a list of the job “required” requirements
Tip #2: Connect all requirements that match your strengths
Tip #3: List all the benefits you can bring to the organization from your strengths
Tip #4: Create a written Value Added Proposition Pitch
Tip #5: Script and memorize your pitch- (A compelling story)
**You must be in the problem-solving business***

You must make yourself unique or at least unusual:
• do you get more done in a day;
• are you better at problem-solving than others;
• do you have better work habits than others;
• do you show up earlier, stay later, work harder, work faster, go the extra mile?
Give them examples or stories from your past that proves any of these claims. (A compelling story)

Thank you Darnell. You are an authentic and inspiring man. I am a teacher with over 25 years experience and most teachers would attend an interview saying what they know but you have pointed out the need to be a life-long learner who is flexible, diligent and gets results. At first I was skeptical about your suggestion to memorize a script. You called it an 'elevator pitch' but corrected yourself when I thought that it was quite an appropriate expression for what we are preparing for in an interview. In my situation they will ask some stock questions but if they ask anything like, "what qualities can you bring to the school?" I know exactly what to say. I dont know how else you could help me. I have taken a break after getting burnt out and now I am ready to reenter the workforce in my chosen profession as a high school teacher and believe that you have helped to equip me with this succinct video.

I can tell you get results. I'm about to NAIL this interview. You wouldn't BELIEVE the similarities in the job posts requirements and my resume. There's NO way I won't pursue this career full throttle. 💯 It's like they took my resume and made a job post with it. Seriously. That similar. And when I called for a good strong follow up. She knew my name and resume!!! Then scheduled an interview for today on the spot. So, I'm getting razor sharp and gonna Hulk smash this! Just KNOW I got the job! 🤷🏾♂
