    As an Indonesian that used to live in LA, I used to go to Simpang Asia a lot! My fave is the nasi goreng jagger & nasi bungkus (but try the spicy one!). Love that you took the time to research about each food!! ♥️

    actually you can mix those nasi goreng with mie tek tek topping of with sate ayam peanut sauce, that how we enjoy food, a little bit of one and another, somehow it suits well. lol enjoy your Indonesian food!

    Your pronounciation is fine. Those are really huge size dishes. My mom cooks really good Indonesian food. I just have to wait for her to make them during holidays hahaha. But I also cook a lot easy Indonesian food at home, i.e. Ayam goreng (fried chicken), rendang and soto ayam. I do miss martabak, watching this video just encourages me to make one.

    as a dutch person i love indonesian food! this is a former colony of us and these people are like our brothers. we love there food and they even love ours. but 1 big thing im missing is the rendang! rendang is bomb!!!!!! and herbert normaly we eat nasi with the sate! then its not "dry" at all!

      I think technically a whole egg is half a chicken because it's just the egg, your mom didn't make you from just an egg. Unless we're talking about balut which is in fact a whole chicken in an egg. 🙂

    You should try Rinjani in glendale next time! Its the closest indonesian food in LA that taste closed to home.For martabak manis you should try martabak cafe instead 🥰

    Yeah - the food of my people! I'm glad you enjoyed it. The nasi goreng's too dry? It shouldn't be but feel free to add freshly sliced cucumber or pickled veggies. Personally, I love satay kambing and the savoury martabak (it has a ground beef, eggs, onions filling in a thin, crispy shell).

Iwant to say thank you so much for trying our food and I di really agree with you guys that most indonesian food is spicy and even there are places that sell like fried noodle with 20-30ish chili which is VERY VERY SPICY. yeah I hope you guys like the indonesian food❤❤

    Just love your videos and it’s so much fun exploring all of these new foods with you! About the closest we have here in South Florida is Chinese takeout. They do have some interesting varieties of things which I am always afraid to try but I am going to be brave and try something new and crazy. Hugs you guys!! 🌈🌈🌈

    Im indonesian and i love this video but where are the signature dishes. Yes nasi goreng, mie tek tek, ayam sate. Authentic Real indonesian food dont have a pork dishes, because most indonesians are islam. Usually indo/chinese restaurants do.
    But the real OG signature dishes.
    - Nasi goreng,
    - Mie goreng,
    - Soto mie (favorite comfort noodle soup dish)
    - bamie bakso (another favorite noodle soup)
    - daging rendang(spicy beef)
    - daging semor or ayam semor
    - bamie empek2
    - ikan kuning
    - ikan belado
    - Sayur Lodeh
    - Sayur buncis (brown beans soup)
    - Sayur Gado Gado
    - Sayur dan somay

    The satay gravy (peanut sauce) supposed to be poured, not to dip, therefore the chicken meat will soften a bit, & not dried. Okay must say I’m salivating now 🤤

    Some Indonesian foods are also good even when they're cold (like, room temperature cold (with the exception of summer heat), not fridge cold), so... since you we're having them for a whole week, not too bad, I guess?

    That's not exactly a good chicken meat i guess.. 😁😁😁..,i can see u guyz having trouble bite the satay meat.., the good chicken satay meat is when you bite and pull it with your mouth/teeth,it feels kinda chewy, smooth and very easy to chew inside your mouth...,if you're find the hard one,it mean u found yourself a Sate Kambing or Lamb/goat Satay.. 😁😁😁😁👍👍😋😋🇮🇩🇮🇩

    Really enjoyed this YB! My grandparents are German and a lot of these dishes are things that we make. Sausage with sauerkraut or pork with sauerkraut is generally at every major holiday. Also we do pork chops cooked like Wienerschnitzel. So this was a lot of fun for me! Great to see your brother as well! 🙋‍♀️💗

    To enjoy chicken skewer or Sate Ayam, You have to pour the peanut sauce first directly on it, not just dab it.

    Just a thought: can you claim the cost of the food as an expense for tax purposes? You need the food to make your video, so shouldn't you be able to deduct it as an expense?

    Mie Tek Tek got its name because the seller hit the fryer/pan/kwok and create sound 'Tek Tek', they do this so people know they're comming. Originally, Mie Tek Tek seller is not stay in one place.

    Fried rice need to juicy lmao, the fried rice must be separated from every grain, and that's why they must not juicy and saucy . If the fried rice is juicy and mussy it's called risotto with local culture ya.
    That's similar when you call chicken rendang is "not crispy." If you get lol

    Whoever cooked that martabak please put him/her in a box and shipped it to Indonesia. Martabak shouldn't be chewy like a tire.

    You should try stink beans aka petai. Usually they fry it in sambal belachan, so it is spicy. Another one of my fav and must eat whenever i go to Indonesia is their goreng pisang aka fried banana. They top it with shredded cheese, chocolate syrup, and sweet condensed milk.

    I wonder why the portion is so big. Is that by US standart or you buy two portion for each. Because here the portion is small. From what i've seen it can be eaten for 2-3 people
