For me, out of all female rockers Ann's voice is the most beautiful and powerful voice I've ever heard, with Grace Slick (White Rabbit) and Stevie Nicks right behind. That, in itself, commands a decent amount of respect. I actually played a miniscule role in all of this. I worked as a DJ at a small market hard rock/heavy metal radio station in Southern California during the early-to-mid-to late 80s. Both John Cougar and Heart were heavily in the rotation. Just literally bought a new drum kit and all new cymbals that I have never played before. I am so excited. thanks Kenny!!! Ann OMG you are the best! Did you notice that Kenny responds to all comments, Dude is amazing!!!!!!
It would be most interesting if Kenny had John Cougar Mellencamp on his podcast like this. Wonder if John would do it? Also, as a life-long, casual, amateur drummer, I'm still mesmerized by Kenny's drumming on "Straight, No Chaser" from the Burnin' for Buddy project. Great job Kenny.
As soon as she explained the meaning of Tripsitter I said yep I gotta check them out. And now I shall. Good podcast. I gotta check more of these out.......
Totally Anne and Kenny! We have got to find time to listen to albums again and start finding ways to reward (pay) artists and technicians to make beautiful things that require us to give ourselves up for an hour and give us a sound track to dream to. Perhaps we need to grow up and be kids in the 70s again to find a sustainable way forward with a touch more thoughtful play to make our world fully experiential and less material. You all keep rockin’!

1st time I saw Heart ♥️ August 16, 1977 the day Elvis passed. Greatest female rock singer of All Time, and still soo beautiful. I'm from Vancouver and Heart always felt like they were Our band. They lived here and recorded here and we loved them and the Seattle scene was right in our backyard. Thank You Ann for taking the time to talk to us and thank you Kenny, great stuff as always.
Ok one more , but last comment.. ha ha ha. I hear you say "The Band is called Tripster" (edit Trip sitter) Tom Bukavac w/ Dean DeLeo (STP ) & guest singer Jon Anderson . Had a band called Trip the Witch. 2o21 / 2o22 You should Definitely have Tom Bukavac , in for a conversation/ interview.
1:21 ... that long list... ironically, you mentioned "the Heartbreakers" ; 70's is also when Bands & Music , like NY Dolls , Pistols , Ramones Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers &&& , start to REBEL ,, to bring back... the 50s & 60s , 3 minute style song, without 3 minute guitar & keyboard solos . Ha ha ha
I went to see Heart in Atlanta and John Cougar band was the open up band. I think the song "Pink Houses" caught my attention. I guess I can't remember which band caused me to go down town to the Atlanta Auditorium that night. I remember two things. Two crazy country girls running all around actin the fool and the high energy of John Cougar. They had the mojo and when Heart entered the room, it became a huge let down.

Interesting story when you guys were opening up for Heart when they were going through that transition from 70's rockers to their 80's rebirth. My first concert was in 1982 at the San Diego Stadium - The Who, Loverboy and Cougar. The rockers in the crowd did NOT like you guys LOL but you powered out a 30 minute set as Hurts/Jack were creeping up the charts. I think even Roger Daltrey made some diss remark about 'little Johnny Cougar'. As a young drummer I was like, how is that guy playing his HH with his left hand? Keep rocking brother!
oh wow.. that is amazing.. I remember that concert perfectly.. I was so excited to be opening up for The Who.. John Cougar didn't want to play that concert because he knew no one wanted to see him.. They wanted to see The Who.. BUT we had 2 songs in the top 10 "Jack and Diane" and "Hurt So Good" , so management made us play.. And I played and recorded Hurt So Good with a left hand lead on my hi hat. : ) g
@@KennyAronoffOfficial Nice! I remember the people in the stands cheering when Cougar he said he heard that 'Hurts so good' was a popular song in San Diego. But the people in General Admission who wanted to see The Who up close were not having it LOL. I was only 13 and literally thought I was going to die getting crushed in that crowd!
@@KennyAronoffOfficial Also, small world story is Heart's old guitar player Roger Fisher (and Ann Wilson's old beau) lived here in San Diego for awhile. His (former) wife is Czech and they would bring their son to a super small informal Czech language class once a week my wife (who's also Czech) taught. Unfortunately my wife didn't tell me until after they moved because she didn't know who he was! He wrote many of Heart's biggest 70's hits!

Yes!! For my money, not that I'm a betting type, Ann Wilson is the greatest rock singer ever. Trixie the tortoise, love that. One of my rabbits is named Trixie. Love Ann so much!!

She’s a local girl! Can’t wait for this interview!
Ann is so Awesome. I would give up my kick drum foot to play with her.
I'm a guitarist. ❤❤❤
She makes people play better when she is singing.
What a great episode. Nice shout-out to Tom Bukovac, an amazing talent.
Thanks, Kenny. Your drumming has always knocked me out.
Thanks so much for your comments.. : ) You Rock..
How cute can she be. Ann is the Rock Light... uncle larry for president !
lol Uncle Larry for president : )
I caught you guys on that tour in 1982. Both bands were phenomenal. Was it that long ago?
Greatest female rock singer of All Time, and still soo beautiful. I'm from Vancouver and Heart always felt like they were Our band. They lived here and recorded here and we loved them and the Seattle scene was right in our backyard. Thank You Ann for taking the time to talk to us and thank you Kenny, great stuff as always.
David.. Thanks for everything you said.. I love Vancouver also.
You should be doing the Sammy VH tribute tour.
That would be amazing. : )
Wow Ann looks great, I'm really shocked I thought she would look old.
Thanks for checking out my podcast.. : )
🙏🙏🙏❤️
Thanks for checking out my podcast. : )
Reminiscent of Jay Black talking about Cara Mia. He was on key into his seventies.
that show in 77 the encore was led zep's rock and roll
How about having some or one of the guys in Blue Oyster Cult on? 😊
Thanks for checking out my podcast Peter.
Ok one more , but last comment.. ha ha ha.
I hear you say "The Band is called Tripster" (edit Trip sitter)
Tom Bukavac w/ Dean DeLeo (STP ) & guest singer Jon Anderson . Had a band called Trip the Witch. 2o21 / 2o22
You should Definitely have Tom Bukavac , in for a conversation/ interview.
lol
1:21 ... that long list... ironically, you mentioned "the Heartbreakers" ;
70's is also when Bands & Music , like NY Dolls , Pistols , Ramones Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers &&& , start to REBEL ,, to bring back... the 50s & 60s , 3 minute style song, without 3 minute guitar & keyboard solos .
Ha ha ha
Yesss. exactly
31:45 Ann is a close second to Linda Rondstat.
Thanks for checkin gout my podcast.
❤no secret I adore Tom Bukovac. I’m his 1%
I went to see Heart in Atlanta and John Cougar band was the open up band.
Seems a bit ironic for Ann Wilson to talk about the 'artifice' of the eighties....Heart was a big part of that when it was paying the bills

You're a great drummer, Aronoff, but do you start all your podcasts by reciting names for two minutes? Why not recite the phone book?
She talks about not being able to hit the high notes and that is just us getting older. Thats why most singers lower the key, no shame in it.
Thanks for checking out my podcast.. : )
@@KennyAronoffOfficial I have been a fan of Heart since their 1st album , and was interested in hearing what Ann's doing today. Thank for sharing.
@@KennyAronoffOfficial I looked you up on Google and knew your name was familiar. My respect my brother God bless!!
@@kimwestwood8840 yessssss
he was not exaggerating
😃👍
Kenny kinda does all the talking innit
Ann and Nancy had a bit of a problem with your boy Johnny
Hey Morris I found Kenny you 🤬
Interesting story when you guys were opening up for Heart when they were going through that transition from 70's rockers to their 80's rebirth.
@@kickstar1 omg yeah.. Those crowds were insane and they through stuff at all the bands.
@@kickstar1 great story.. thanks for sharing. : )
