I killed a Ruger Vaquero

- It wasn't easy, but I did it! 😆
*After conferring with my dad, it turns out that it was a Colt SAA he was carrying back in the late 90s, and he bought the Ruger new in 2004. The dead one dates to 1994, so the 10 years difference explains the difference in wear.*

The firing pin won't protrude through the frame if the trigger is not being pulled, the transfer bar retracts out of the way and the hollow in the hammer doesn't allow the firing pin to move.
Send it to Ruger. They'll repair it and won't charge you a dime.
Yeah, I believe that's true.
Like the "tee" shirt, how true.
Given a long enough timeline, you'll fix it. We'll wait.
I Have A Dakota 357 Magnum with the extra cylinder 9 mm Tennessee.Lov It.101 Tennessee Prepper Smoky Mountain.Good Video.
A previous owner did not scratch those 3s on the cylinder. The freaking factory does that horrible child like scribble. Fooled me also until i found out.
Crazy, right? 😂
Send it back to the factory; Ruger has a good customer service & if it is out of warranty, they have a fair price on complete rebuilds! Go to your local F.F.L. dealer & send it off! They fixed my Blackhawk & it was out of warranty, but money well spent, for a now like new gun!
Oh man that is crazy, my step dad sold saddles and tack too. Granted he repped like four different western type product companies at one time. But he worked for Crates for decades.
We caught the last few years before folks started ordering directly from the interwebs. Literally watched the old style business disappear in front of our eyes.
I sold Simco and Crates Saddles in Mobile Al. Who was your dad. We were Moore Stringer.
Ruger will probably fix it under warranty...
I covered that at the end of the video. 😉
Thought same thing.
@@SapperGentleman ruger will probably fix it under warranty....
Ruger puts the serial number on the cylinder. And the engraving looks very homemade. My blackhawk is the same.
My other Vaq has no numbers at all on the cylinder.
Just double checked in case I was just missing it somehow, but the good one definitely does not have etched numbers on the cylinder.
Where did you get those beautiful grips?
Altamont 👍🏼
The term for the flat donut thing is "bushing" and it's a press-fit which yeah, would be very hard to remove without a press and jig. Ruger will replace that for you if you send it to them.
Ruger was willing to fix the Super Blackhawk 44 mag that was my dad's, that I had given to my sister. She treasured it, and that was why in a bad break up he hammered it into concrete and it 'blew up'. It fired out of battery, and ended up blowing up the dumbass's hand and mangled the Ruger. They were willing to still warentee it.
That's amazing customer service. 👍🏼
You didn't kill it, you wore a part out. Big difference.
It's a click bait title, yes. 😆
@@SapperGentleman As long as you're proud of it.
Now you can twirl it with out worrying about breaking it.
Airborne! 🤣
The 3-3-3 on the cylinder is from the factory
I have found that some things I have to go to an armorer, gunsmith or back to the factory. or it well be in worse shape after I am done.
Scratch numbers on front of cylinder is from factory (Ruger)
I will not have a non functioning gun. I refuse. I hope you’ve sent that Vaquero into Ruger by now.
Wonder if the New Ruger Vacquero is more resistant or was it purely an issue of extended use?
The latter. These guns have seen a LOT of use.
And I'm torn on likeing this one. Its painful when a firearm passes. :-(
Serial # on the cylinder is a normal factory detail, it is not always present.
Send it to Ruger and apologize for being ham-handed.
Right on brother Tn.
How did your dad carry the single action?
He carried it in a Galco holster, but usually off-body.
Will the old model Vaquero handle the .45 +P loads?
Yes. They'll handle the same "Ruger only" loads as a Blackhawk
Yes the old model can handle it but the new model won't
What brand saddles did your dad sell.
We sold some Billy Cook and other American makers, but mostly cheaper Mexican saddles.
@@SapperGentleman Around Mobile Al ???
@@frankpmoorejr5308 My dad used to push that far east back around 2003-2006ish.
How did you do the case coloring? Thanks
Here ya go: ua-cam.com/video/0TpKJkaU0Vg/v-deo.html
Send it to ruger, it’s not impossible for them to change out a firing pin.
so my frame is like a solid mat black. is there a way to lighten it in spots to get a more case color look? thanks
If it's blued they sell blue remover. If it's like a matte Parkerized finish (I had some Ubertis like that) you'll need to sand the finish down first, then try rebluing it. Let me link a video showing DIY job I did.

The matte black parkerized look is a form of cerokote. Just sand it or take it to someone who can remove it chemically
Ruger would have probably fixed it for feee....
That electric pencil type markings on the cylinder... in your case (333). Is a factory marking. Mine has similar but different numbers on my Vaquero cylinder just FYI
Yeah, someone else mentioned that about the etched numbers as well. My other Vaquero doesn't have them, so I assumed it was added by a previous owner.
New firing pin. Done.
I killed one also . I ran over it with a bushog sent it back to ruger IT CANT BE FIXED.
😂
Your dads gun has the tranferbar so it was built in the 2000s
Rugers have had transfer bar safety since 1973. The original "3 Screw" models (pre-73) did not.
Send to Ruger.
Give us an update. Did ya get yer vaquero fixed?
Not yet. I'm scheming on getting both of them up to a gunsmith buddy of mine next month for major overhauls. Proper color case hardening, reblue, new springs, etc
Just came across this video and I can tell you this, I would NEVER let you touch my guns. If you don't have the tools and knowledge to work on firearms let someone who does work on them. I think you didn't send them to Ruger because of the damage you caused on the once beautiful Ruger. Shame on you!
I'm currently having them completely refurbished by a professional, but thanks for the personal attack. 😆
Why did you even bother to make a vid?
Why did you even bother to make a comment?
Oy.
You got a new subscriber.
I went looking for liberal gunners.
I'm personally a rational anarchist. There's not many of us who are self aware... I think most people are but they don't realise it yet.
Looking forward to picking through your archive.
Welcome! Glad to have ya!
@J 3 🤣
@J 3 Oookay then. 😆
That shirt... 😬
Is it triggering you? 😆
I love the shirt. Because it’s true and needs to be said. Now someone needs to make a “Fudd Lives Matter” one for me.
What is that song name, I need to get me one of this, (how I found it)
