I saw them in Cleveland last week. My head exploded. The most generous genuine people on the planet. Rick was insane as usual I met Daxx. I shook Robin's hand. The most beautiful people I ever saw. Thank you!!! I'm still on that high. I wanna go now and see them in Detroit. They should play Downed everytime. One of my favs. Thank you.
Ricks backup vocals don't get enough credit. Hes so accurate, and lovely high harmonies. Maybe its so overshadowed by his guitar antics and over the top stage presence. Either way, Ricks a unique individual.
The flip side of that is that Zander has always been a really solid rhythm guitarist, providing a nice foundation for Rick while still delivering 100% on lead vocals
No kidding. I never heard this until about 10 years ago. It's probably my favorite CT song. Can't understand why this wasn't on the original Budokan album. Although, it is nice to find surprises 30 years later.
When this first came.out in 1978 I was 17 yrs old...and I knew Rock & Roll.was the most important thing I'd heard! ...And years later that Rockford Illinois had birthed one of the greatest bands EVER!
I grew up in Freeport, Illinois, just a stone's throw away from Rockford. I always considered Cheap Trick as part of my family. The first time I saw them a band called Bon Jovi opened for them. I think that was around 1984 or 1985. What a great show that was!
What I really love about Cheap Trick is they are all about the great lyrics, drums and guitarists. They used their talents to survive all these years, no gimmicks. They didn't care if 2 of them had long hair & the other 2 looked more conservative. They just wanted to make great music!
Right? Some times less is more I always say. When you have it stripped down you can't hide behind tricks and if you don't have it going on it' going to come right out!
one of my fave cheap trick songs, but just realized that the opening riff is straight from ELO's 10538 overture, which is coincidentally my fave ELO song.
I was never a real fan of this band as a young teenager and adult. I was into heavy metal, new wave, punk rock, and Aussie rock'n'roll music. However, I have come to like most of their songs now as a middle aged Aussie man.
Budokan is what grabbed my by the throat (at 12 years old) and let me know R&R is very cool. So its hard to argue with success... but after hearing how much was left on the editing floor for this album, I really think this should have been a double album to show the entire concert.
I've been listening to Eddie Trunk on Volume 106 Sirius/Xm. He did a top twenty on Cheap Trick Tuesday. This was his #3 song. Callers to his show just about all had it on their list near the top. I couldn't remember ever hearing it. Now I understand their love of this tune. Its a killer track.
I'm a reletively new Cheap Trick fan and i've been listening to In Color a lot recently. How was this never a single ?. Its the best track on the album.
Feels like 1978 all over again...so cool in that the Trick like covered every genre then and the future too how??? This is what we needed after the early /mid 70s bloat!
Does anyone remember the movie Over the Edge? Cheap Trick was a major contributor to the sound track. Great music and awesome movie. Matt Dillons first acting job
ua-cam.com/video/SCpUq1Tmd0o/v-deo.html Here is a scene with the girl dancing to CT. In real life her boyfriend was a roadie for bands and he gave her good tapes he got and she would bring her boombox to the set and the director said she is the one responsible for all the CT songs and others in the film.
I believe that Robin Zander's son sings most of the vocals now. It's a shame that RZ can't sing it anymore (if that's the reason). His vocals are truly magnificent and this was the track that made me realise there was much more to CH than IWYTWM and The Flame. RZ vocals are perfect and, by definition, cannot be improved on.
I'm a reletively new Cheap Trick fan and i've been listening to In Color a lot recently. How was this never a single ?. Its the best track on the album.

One of the greatest Cheap Trick songs no one ever talks about.

I can't decide which of theirs is my top but this is up among the ones fighting for the top for sure!
I just fell in love w/ this thing - again (after decades not listening to.)
My new band just started this track. Great feel. Thank you CHEAP TRICK!!
Today I listened to this and come on come on repeatedly
so underappreciated. anyone else feel like all their very best songs were more or less overlooked?
Great tune !! I believe Budokan is among the greatest live rock albums ever released. 🤟🤟🎸🥁
✌️🖤
What an underrated song. And Zander the most underrated vocalist in music history. This concert made music history. I love it
Agree about RZ. The definition of 'rock voice.'
Bunny was a monster on this song. Nielsen too.
Damn, this is the best thing ever. Nobody rock n rolls like this anymore, and nobody rock n rolled like Cheap Trick, alright!!
A real rock n roll band! They brought down the house I was there
In Japan?

Thank you Rick, you made an insane memory that we will always have forever...you are the toppest of the notchest. Love you!!!!

Wouldve liked to have heard Rick song a total song great rock voice

I've been a fan since I saw them on the In Color tour.
Their most underrated song

"Rock & Roll was the most important thing I'd heard!" Well put. You nailed it. Bravo! I needed that.

Nielson. The high priest of tone.
He was the “High priest of rhythmic noise”, heh.

Tonal accompanying vocals here too in the sweet spot in the back of the mix

Mandocello is the most beautiful song ever created, imo...but Downed is one of the most soulful...I love it. ❤️ I miss these guys.
In Color and Black and White is still my favorite Cheap Trick album.

Their entire look was a gimmick. 😄 Doesn't matter tho. They are phenomenal past the look.
Cobain definitely jammed this growing up...
An absolute favorite from the day I first heard it in the 70's off In Color...
Best version of this song. In their Prime.

Always unreal, no matter how many times I see/hear it. Robin Zander and Liam Gallagher are my favorite frontmen ever.

@@glencampbell136 i know it's surprising to receive a reply. How are you doing today?
"Did you see your friend, crying from his eyes today?
Did you see him run through the streets and far way?"
"Did you see him run, did you see him fall?" You're a genius to catch that. I was feeling a little 10538 myself.
Spot on! Good call.
Unreal.
In Color was their best record.
Shades of ELO’s Do Ya and 10538 Overture
