    What a great era to grow up in...the late 70s & 80s.
    I was around 10 yrs old when this song came out.
    My uncle was 10 yrs older than me & I was with him all the time, & I remember so many bands & singer from back then because of me always running around with him.
    I got to hear some great singers & great bands back then that I still listen to today...

      LOL. You definitely need them when you're a drummer if your hands get sweaty or you don't hold the sticks very tight. I not only wear gloves, I use the sticks that have been dipped in rubber for more grip, because I don't hold them tightly. Such a great band that wrote some simple but very memorable songs. Bun E. is a very solid drummer.

      my son is a drummer & was only 9 when group was a big hit- he really appreciated the talent of Bun when i sent videos of group 2 him recently

    i saw these guys at the beach club in 1996 and i was so high on mushrooms and whiskey the band threw me out . it was so much fun , ive been sober ever since

    Robin’s voice is a national treasure.He is one of the few singers that sound like the album...... the whole band does! I’ve seen them at least a dozen times and every time I am blown away!

    Hey guys lets not forget Robin Zanders voice. One of rocks most amazing voices of all classic rock bands ever!!!!! His vocals on the flame is just pure amazing vocal ability.

    Live at Budokan is probably one of the best live albums of all time. I don't know of another live album that gave the songs an entirely different dimension.

    I live in the usa, close to the Canadian border. and saw the LIVE AT BUDOKAN special on a Canadian tv station. I told all my classmates, OMG you gotta check this band out. everybody thought I was crazy. a year later the LIVE AT BUDOKAN album was huge. I always liked SURRENDER better than I WANT YOU TO WANT ME, but this is a great song

      Same here. Always preferred the live versions of both to the studio cuts. Which reminds me, I bought Live at Budokan in 1995 but have no idea what happened to it. Well, Amazon, here I come.

    Met Tom at Mohegan Sun last month before the show. Real down to earth guy. Been to about 20 shows in CT/NY since the 80’s and they’re still rockin it.

    I saw them by surprize at the DUTCHESS COUNTY FAIR in NY and they were fantastic.. Sounded exactly as good over decades.

      I was a straight punk rock kid in the 90s and loved that album because it sounded kind of like it had some punk roots. But as a guitar player since the 80s, its Rick Nielsens guitar sound and songwriting talent that has kept it one of my faves as a middle aged punk rocker.

      Right with ya Desmond. I was kinda all over the place musically when Budokan came out, but was punk first and foremost. Punk was and still is (40 years later) my favorite genre. The Budokan concert had to have been absolutely fucking insane!

    This song always puts me in a good mood i wasn't around back in the 70s and 80s but I do remember the first time my dad showed me this song on UA-cam the live at Buddakan

    My grandmother Mary Harris knew this whole band and lived in the Rockford towers with them and taught all of their wives at the time how to sew my grandmother was a master seamstress and sewer could do anything with a needle and one day I was in California watching MTV and she was visiting me and they came on the TV with the dream police and she goes “i know all those guys they live in my building I teach their wives how to sew. I was wondering what all those guitars were about”

    I'm from Illinois and have seen Cheap Trick many times. First was opening for Kiss in Springfield, then at the same venue headlining with New England and UFO. Then they played my hometown Decatur at the new Civic center around 1982. Later in life, Spring break Daytona Beach. Every show kicked ass. Rick Nielson is a traveling guitar show.

      His picking fingers must be sweaty. When that happens you’ll start to lose some feel and grip on the pick. So he throws out the old pick and gets a fresh pick. That’s what Pros do at live performances.

    I saw Cheap Trick open for Def Leppard and Journey last year in St. Louis. Look, I like Cheap Trick, they rock, all right? However, it was shocking how spectacular they were live. Even just as an opener they'll rock your face clean off your skull.

    Saw them at the Yakima County Washington Fairgrounds in the early 80's. I was hearing impaired for five days after. Totally worth it. Still is.
