LOL. You definitely need them when you're a drummer if your hands get sweaty or you don't hold the sticks very tight. I not only wear gloves, I use the sticks that have been dipped in rubber for more grip, because I don't hold them tightly. Such a great band that wrote some simple but very memorable songs. Bun E. is a very solid drummer.
i saw these guys at the beach club in 1996 and i was so high on mushrooms and whiskey the band threw me out . it was so much fun , ive been sober ever since
Robin’s voice is a national treasure. He is one of the few singers that sound like the album...... the whole band does! I’ve seen them at least a dozen times and every time I am blown away!
Hey guys lets not forget Robin Zanders voice. One of rocks most amazing voices of all classic rock bands ever!!!!! His vocals on the flame is just pure amazing vocal ability.
I want you to want me is one of those rock and roll stapled songs that I would never, never, never, NEVER EVER get tired of hearing over and over and OVER And OVER AGAIN!! GOD BLESS CHEAP TRICK!!!
Live at Budokan is probably one of the best live albums of all time. I don't know of another live album that gave the songs an entirely different dimension.
I live in the usa, close to the Canadian border. and saw the LIVE AT BUDOKAN special on a Canadian tv station. I told all my classmates, OMG you gotta check this band out. everybody thought I was crazy. a year later the LIVE AT BUDOKAN album was huge. I always liked SURRENDER better than I WANT YOU TO WANT ME, but this is a great song
Same here. Always preferred the live versions of both to the studio cuts. Which reminds me, I bought Live at Budokan in 1995 but have no idea what happened to it. Well, Amazon, here I come.
I saw these dudes in 1979 at Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati Oh! I was standing in front of Rick with my elbows on the stage getting my ears blown and my face melted! 😎🤯🤩
I was a straight punk rock kid in the 90s and loved that album because it sounded kind of like it had some punk roots. But as a guitar player since the 80s, its Rick Nielsens guitar sound and songwriting talent that has kept it one of my faves as a middle aged punk rocker.
Right with ya Desmond. I was kinda all over the place musically when Budokan came out, but was punk first and foremost. Punk was and still is (40 years later) my favorite genre. The Budokan concert had to have been absolutely fucking insane!
This song always puts me in a good mood i wasn't around back in the 70s and 80s but I do remember the first time my dad showed me this song on UA-cam the live at Buddakan
My grandmother Mary Harris knew this whole band and lived in the Rockford towers with them and taught all of their wives at the time how to sew my grandmother was a master seamstress and sewer could do anything with a needle and one day I was in California watching MTV and she was visiting me and they came on the TV with the dream police and she goes “i know all those guys they live in my building I teach their wives how to sew. I was wondering what all those guitars were about”
Man, how awesome is Cheap Trick? And thanks to Stern for introducing me to their Beatles cover album... never would have known about it otherwise and it's one of my faves.
I'm from Illinois and have seen Cheap Trick many times. First was opening for Kiss in Springfield, then at the same venue headlining with New England and UFO. Then they played my hometown Decatur at the new Civic center around 1982. Later in life, Spring break Daytona Beach. Every show kicked ass. Rick Nielson is a traveling guitar show.
I have been a big fan of Stern and his peeps for 20 years...He has great taste in music too! He loves Bat Dance like me...Great minds think alike they say!
I see nor hear anything cheap about this...? Never did..saw them 5times...nothing cheap! Great to see them here. Saw them at the theater on the naval base in Great Lakes while in Navy's ET school. Around 1988? Thanks for posting.....
One. Look it’s Mr Bun E Carlos. Two Rick is fucking hilarious. Three. No lip syncing. Cheap trick is a gift from god. Let them all live forever and play in wheelchairs when they grow older. ROCK ON!!!!!
His picking fingers must be sweaty. When that happens you’ll start to lose some feel and grip on the pick. So he throws out the old pick and gets a fresh pick. That’s what Pros do at live performances.
Just love this song... actually really good in concert.... EVERYTHING'IS so much better with music.... MUSIC IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT...it makes life so much better and fun ....
I saw Cheap Trick open for Def Leppard and Journey last year in St. Louis. Look, I like Cheap Trick, they rock, all right? However, it was shocking how spectacular they were live. Even just as an opener they'll rock your face clean off your skull.
‘78 cheap trick, police, the cars and of course Van Halen first album!! What a summer!!!
Rick Nielsen is without a doubt the most underrated guitarist in the history of rock. He is incredible!!!!
These studio shows are amazing and hats off to Howard's sound guy. Great sound man.

Much love from Mobile Alabama.
Probably the greatest pop song ever rocked out. It never gets old.
rick went through more picks in that one song than i've gone through in my entire 23 years of playing guitar
Original drummer Bun E Carlos! Great to see him drumming with the gloves on
LOL. You definitely need them when you're a drummer if your hands get sweaty or you don't hold the sticks very tight. I not only wear gloves, I use the sticks that have been dipped in rubber for more grip, because I don't hold them tightly. Such a great band that wrote some simple but very memorable songs. i thought Rick Neilzon's son was playing drums now after the brouhaha with Bun E?
If he doesn't smoke he's not Bun E Carlos.
Absolutely
Real glad 2 see him2
my son is a drummer & was only 9 when group was a big hit- he really appreciated the talent of Bun when i sent videos of group 2 him recently

GOD BLESS CHEAP TRICK!!!
Man, these guys keep it tight while sounding loose; great shredding
Wasn't the same without Bun E Carlos...glad to see him back...
Those licks are so tasty they each require a new pick.
Because each lick melts the pick...
@@mr.smithgnrsmith7808 true f'n genius that Rick guy...he doesnt need to shred you know
Bun E. Carlos and his golfing gloves...Hell yeah!!!
Not Bun E. Carlos.
Daniel James Eyewear- Ya might wanna look twice, cuz if that ain’t Bun E then they’ve cloned a replacement for him
Daniel James Eyewear That is Bun E. Carlos. This was recorded in 2006.
Awesome u read someone else's comment and don't even know who he is!
Drumming gloves...

Nice to see Bun E.... solid drummer. Wish he still toured with them.
That's rock and roll!!! Great Cheap Trick!!!

Greatest thing on The Stern show in years.
uh the master of puppets performance?
I love how that guy plays his guitar! Great song
MrDiscostu4u Yup! Rick Nielsen is ridiculous..looks like he’s walking his dog while he’s tearing up the song!🎶🎸
Listen to this with headphones on, it’s pretty damn good. Plus, love the way he’s still tossing picks even with an audience of 4.....HA!
Rick is the man
Met Tom at Mohegan Sun last month before the show. Real down to earth guy. Been to about 20 shows in CT/NY since the 80’s and they’re still rockin it.
Cheap Trick changed my life. I heard this song and decided to play guitar when I was 10. Best choice ever.
How it turned bro

Live at budokan has to be the absolute best album ever and I'm straight punk rock kid
Desmond Cahill the greatest live album ever recorded.

Greatest American rock band and best singer ever.
This song always puts me in a good mood i wasn't around back in the 70s and 80s but I do remember the first time my dad showed me this song on UA-cam the live at Buddakan

Cool.
Dude, you need to learn to use punctuation.
Did u learn to sew?
This song should be on anyone's top ten all time greatest rock song lists.
This was published on my birthday🎂 Yay! Best gift Ever!
I saw them when they first hit it big in Chicago at the Granada Theater, down the street from Loyola University. They rocked.
Man, how awesome is Cheap Trick? And thanks to Stern for introducing me to their Beatles cover album... never would have known about it otherwise and it's one of my faves.

Iconic rock and roll anthem! So great to see Bun E. play! Thanks Howard Stern! :-)
Nice to hear the 12 string bass up in the mix!
Not many people can handle a 12 stringer but Tom makes it look so easy.
All I can say is what a song Thank you to the band you guys Rock Plus thank you for all your music💯🤟🤟🤛🤛
I must say, I did not expect that! Great performance.
I have been a big fan of Stern and his peeps for 20 years...He has great taste in music too! He loves Bat Dance like me...Great minds think alike they say!

“Wow!” is right. The guys sound amazing.
One. Look it’s Mr Bun E Carlos. Two Rick is fucking hilarious. Three. No lip syncing. Cheap trick is a gift from god. Let them all live forever and play in wheelchairs when they grow older. ROCK ON!!!!!
Great to see the original line up looking and sounding great😀👍🎸I blasted this tune more than a few times in my Chevy Van 🚐🎵 🏡
Who the hell is Rick throwing guitar picks to? Hahahah. It’s like he’s forgotten where he was hahah gotta love him.
I assume Howard. But maybe it's just so reflexive now that he can't play without throwing picks LOL
Lanning Kann i think the same thing. He always does it. I guess he’s known for it now.
tried2 catch one in his mouth2 ha
Lanning Kann I think he was throwing them up and trying to catch them in his mouth. Always a fun musician to watch
His picking fingers must be sweaty. When that happens you’ll start to lose some feel and grip on the pick. So he throws out the old pick and gets a fresh pick. That’s what Pros do at live performances.

Bun looks great!
Oh man, it's 1978 in Hungtington Beach all over again!

Perhaps one of the most underrated endorsements for FootJoy golf gloves ever!!
On the drums! Mister Bun E. Carlos!
Saw them at the Yakima County Washington Fairgrounds in the early 80's. I was hearing impaired for five days after. Totally worth it. Still is.
I love this band.....súper classic rock.
I saw them on the Dream Police tour opening for BÖC. Awesome show!
This song brought back so many memories. Thanks for sharing. Rick Neilson rocked the "Trailer Park Boys t-shirt. "I am the liquor"
