The same thing was shown in another episode of "The Grand Tour", when the three presenters went to Canada to road test such "Crossover SUVs". On a racetrack, a sedan with comparable power-to-weight ratio left all three for dead (because it had zero body roll, while these three had to considerably brake ahead of time to avoid body roll), while costing less than these three SUV's. And when they tried to do some offroad work in the dust, their 4x4 systems panicked and went into limp-home mode, nullifying their point as an off-roader. In summary, a Jacked up hatchback (the so called crossover SUVs) give the worst of both worlds. You're in a tier 3 city, its dark and you're out in the Highways at 80 kmph, suddenly a pothole or big patch comes up or you suddenly encounter a road construction joint... You cant slow down too much and just take a big hit.. A sedan or a hatchback would get hit on its bumper or any underbody components.. whilst an SUV might be able to take that hit without much damage. That's how the road conditions are in our country (Even tier 2 & 3 NH roads).. No safety signs, no proper illumination.. we are left to deal with our own problem.. That's why...
@@jaisreekrishn Some real suv's can manage but atleast you can prevent the crossovers underbody from damage... And no one will directly let the vehicle directly in the pothole they will try to slowdown so the speed during the impact will be less..
Big Problems regarding Sedan, 1. Low Ground Clearance 2. Difficult to Drive in City Traffic 3. Currently Sedans do not offer features 4. Due to length being more, the taxes on them are somewhat similar to SUVs. So, when all of this is seen buy a buyer, they just think, isse achha to SUV le lete hai. Example: Verna costs about 18-19 Lakh ex-showroom TOP MODEL (last time I checked). It's Interiors are not even that premium and features offered are less. in 18-20Lakh price you get those so called "SUV". with more features, higher ground clearance, better interiors, etc so ofc people will buy those.
Sedan gives more mileage than suvs due to their aerodynamic structure. If anyone wants to compare in monetary terms. In the long run, sedans will save more money.
1. Better stability 2. Good for cornering 3. Boot space 4. Complete family package if you're not going where are bad roads or offroad. 5. Hatchback or sedans still better for tiny roads like HP, Shimla etc (u know where vloggers travel) suv wale ko stress aa skta h waise roads pr. 6. Less damage if you hit pedestrian

SUVs generally have a wider stance, the width is higher for same length of sedan or hatchback, it is desirable. High GC to handle broken roads/city, municipal roads. Upright bonnet, more metal upfront for safety in case of mishap. This trend in evident in crash results. In our country, these are genuine concerns.
Suv ka or ek problem city me h, bahot sare log aajkal influence hoke, bhokal dikhane ke chakkar me SUV's le rhe h. SUV ko City me drive karna, choti galiyo me mudne me problem hoti h jyada jagah lgti h, SUV ko park krne ke liye bhi bahot jagah lgti h us place me 2 small hatchback park ho skti h. But aajkal ke logo ye baat samjh nhi aati, unki bhi kya galti small cars wale ko ye egoistic suv wale daba dete h
Safety comes from the driver, not the car. Crash ratings come in picture when a car touches something else. Go for the car you like, don't hold back on ratings
Another reason is Nitin Gadkari ji, he has built so many amazing interstate highways. So people now consider travelling between states via car as a real possibility. Hence, it makes more sense to buy SUV now.
Bhai SUVs are opposite of what you described. It's like saying ab 2 ki jagah 4 log ek saath jaenge so now let's go via motorcycle instead of car. The SUVs are made for offroading. The better long roads mei Sedans are better than SUVs because they are closer to the road which makes more stabilty as centre of mass is lower, sedans perform better in moose test so ekdum se saamne koi aae tho high speed mein instantly lane switch karte waqt car turbulent naa ho and sedans have better aerodynamics and are lighter means zyada speed mei kam fuel consumption compared to SUVs.
Recently bought Honda Aamaze CVT few days ago. Extremely satisfied with the car. Super comfortable and easy to drive. It has all necessary features and top quality engine with good safety standards ratings. Way better than jacked up suv or hatchback. Will always prefer and go for sedan. When ever i go out with sedan, almost every car is mini suv or hatchback now a days. So people are looking at it surprisingly.
I think someone unleashed the paid mafia online all of sudden all the reviewers are promoting Sedans which is an outdated segment in India. For indians owning a car is a dream, we will buy the most value for money option. Why would some one buy shot vernas, taiguns or kushaqs for 20 lakhs when we can get much feature rich scorpios and 700 at same price. Moreover, the seevice of the SUVs is cheaper than sedans 😊
Sedan revive karne ke liye 2 chije honi chahiye. Ek to jo abhi Market me available hai wo diesel engine ke sath aani chahiye aur dusara looks best honi chahiye.
Great observation. But you are missing the macro picture. Generation alfa is going to ditch car ownership completely. They will be considering vehicles and aerial vehicles as a mode of transportation only. Just like around a hundred year back, people considered horse drawn carriages as mode of going from A to B prior to the advent of internal combustion engine.
Please make a video on compact suv vs midsize suv, because their price clash and it becomes very confusing to choose between the, after considering pros and cons. Like if I have a budget of 13-14 lakh on road, I can get a middle variant of compact SUVs and base model of midsize SUVs with all the basic features. It’s so confusing for middle class people like us to choose because both are lucrative options here…

World over SUVs means 4x4 all terrian vehicle. But in India Car which offer high Ground Clearance with shape of SUV be it Compact or Premium Hatchback are all termed as SUVs. Yes SUVs does compromise on handling & body roll, but offers comfortable ingress-egress & road visibility which are most important on Indian Roads.
Ford and Fiat exit made a vacum in performance hatchbacks. There are some cars which were launched ahead of their time. Cars like Ford Fusion, Chevrolet SRV, Fiat Palio and even Honda Jazz initial version. Had they been successful, Indian market would've been in a different state today.
For an economy that is growing like ours, it is sad that road conditions in the city and towns, where the volume of traffic is very high, is getting worse day by day. It's admirable that we have massive expressways and highways are getting better. This is great for long haul vehicles and interstate and cross country travel. However, I wish the government would provide states more funds and support them in getting city/town roads in better shape.
@7:12, Adding airbags is good but without proper built/body structure even 6 airbags won't bhi helpful. Jab gadi hi pichakjaye to airbags kya ghanta kaam aayenge. I think the focus should be more on increasing body structure and stability to handle the impact woth keeping occupants safe.

Expressways are meant for sedans. Their aerodynamics hug the road and give stability. The demand will come back once these roads meet practical needs. but not in 4 cylinder form. They will be castrated horses with 3 cylinders and a turbo. Ciaz may be old but one gets a lot of sedan for the money, the extra change can be spent in Karol Bagh and it is 1500cc, 4 cylinder with a f___in torque converter. I'd buy that car.
I think in the premium segment ( under crore ) only brands left is either a bmw with their 3 series or a merc with their C class . Audi is really outdated with their cars in India . Škoda superb or Octavia have almost died . Yes one more brand - “ TOYOTA” if focuses on their Camry can increase the demand of sedans again because it may happen that Škoda makes their Octavia or superb in India which will reduce their price and with good set of tech it will be good to go . This will also make other German car manufacturers in this segment to decrease their prices for the starting models and offer good set of features to survive in this category. So I think Toyota might be a hope in sedan market too.

I have always owned a sedan and just don't feel like making the switch though I have driven many suv's. You feel royal in a sedan given the space and comfort..!
Your priorities seem primal. Sedans are designed for highways and are aerodynamic unlike suv bricks. India is making a lot of highways meant for sedans. better late than never.

Its like herd race by us Indians. Today pan India roads are good and far better than 20 years back, then also people are buying SUV. Our Sedan or Htchback doesnt break in two halves while hitting potholes.
My father had a Ciaz. Gave mileage of 18-19 kmpl in petrol. Was spacious as hell. Boot was 510 L. But if 5 people sat in the vehicle, it will touch every pothole and speed bump. The old 160 mm Honda city touched even the bubbling on roads. So, even good cars are getting rejected because of bad roads. After the Ciaz experience, My father bought a WRV and I got a Grand Vitara

Great Video. Owned a Eco Sport for 10 years. The size and engine is perfect for Indian roads. Most new compact SUV shud have same size engine and torque.
I went to a Skoda showroom decided to book a Kushaq and eventually came out booking a Slavia. I loved Slavia the moment i sat in it. The big sedan feel and so much more luxurious. I wished to book it but since its a sedan it would keep scraping on the roads so dint want to book it. When the salesman said its 180mm gc i took a test drive and booked it with joy !!! Been an year with the beautiful beast and every single time i drive it puts a smile on my face.

That's why...
that's true, so which SUV according to you will be able to manage a pothole at 80 km/h on an unlit road?
no sarcasm I want some genuine suggestions
@@jaisreekrishn Some real suv's can manage but atleast you can prevent the crossovers underbody from damage...
And no one will directly let the vehicle directly in the pothole they will try to slowdown so the speed during the impact will be less..
And when a cow comes at 100 kph them those suv will filp over easily 😂😂😂

Big Problems regarding Sedan,
1. Low Ground Clearance
2. Difficult to Drive in City Traffic
3. Currently Sedans do not offer features
It's Interiors are not even that premium and features offered are less.
in 18-20Lakh price you get those so called "SUV". with more features, higher ground clearance, better interiors, etc
so ofc people will buy those.
Sedan gives more mileage than suvs due to their aerodynamic structure. If anyone wants to compare in monetary terms. In the long run, sedans will save more money.
city/verna has very good models under 15 lakhs you cannot say sedans dont have features
1. Better stability
2. Good for cornering
3. Boot space
4. Complete family package if you're not going where are bad roads or offroad.
5. Hatchback or sedans still better for tiny roads like HP, Shimla etc (u know where vloggers travel) suv wale ko stress aa skta h waise roads pr.
6. Less damage if you hit pedestrian
Once you get the taste and fun of riding sedans on highways, you will never get the similar experience while driving an SUV
Bhai Volkswagen li virus ka naam suna features ki line hai or sedans Jada saff hai because kam ground clearance SUVs toh Jada speed me palat sakti because High ground clearance

India doesn't have a wide variety of car options, and that's a bitter truth. Markets like the US , Middle East & some European countries offer the best options, with a diverse range of SUVs and sports cars that are unfamiliar to the Indian market

Sub 4 meter SUVs are the best thing to happen for Indian consumers as it is taxed less but has more features and safety.
Its depressing to know the dying concept of sedans, driving a City since 2015, waiting only to get hands on an upgrade.
Where do you live I go village with sedan it has touched in 2 times in last 10 years.
Suv ka or ek problem city me h, bahot sare log aajkal influence hoke, bhokal dikhane ke chakkar me SUV's le rhe h. SUV ko City me drive karna, choti galiyo me mudne me problem hoti h jyada jagah lgti h, SUV ko park krne ke liye bhi bahot jagah lgti h us place me 2 small hatchback park ho skti h. But aajkal ke logo ye baat samjh nhi aati, unki bhi kya galti small cars wale ko ye egoistic suv wale daba dete h

In SUVs we don't have to worry about speed breakers, potholes.
But in sedans and hatchbacks, we have to see these things which is a BIG stress
But in suvs we have body roll which means poor handling on highways
In sedans you can cruise in expressways with confidence, cutting the air like a knife.
@@cuckoonut1208 and they perform better on moose test

Another reason is Nitin Gadkari ji, he has built so many amazing interstate highways. So people now consider travelling between states via car as a real possibility. Hence, it makes more sense to buy SUV now.
Wrong logic . It's better with sedans if road conditions are good since you don't need higher ground clearance.
bro thinks everyone drives on highways

Great observation. But you are missing the macro picture. Generation alfa is going to ditch car ownership completely. Please make a video on compact suv vs midsize suv, because their price clash and it becomes very confusing to choose between the, after considering pros and cons. Th growth of SUV has been unreal. While the market share of SUV was only 19% in 2019 it has shot up upto 50% in 2024 and is expected to grow more upto 60% in 2030. While you can't say that Hatchbacks are now the cars of the past as the new version of Swift has record breaking sales leaving all the SUV's behind which shows people still value fuel-efficient cars in India.

Sedans like virtus and slavia have 5 star safety and almost 180mm of ground clearance which makes them comparable to the compact suv s
Sedans are my fav
sedans and hatchbacks are the best.. most of the suvs don’t look classy, sleek or stylish bt only the reason most of us are buying is ground clearance.
11:36 Rachit Bhai, Mahindra Verito Vibe wasn't even a hatchback. It was a 4-door saloon with rear looking like a "hatchback". You can compare its body layout with Leyland Princess saloon's body which is a 4-door saloon with it's rear looking like a hatchback but opens like a sedan.
2:07 the picture you used here here is from my lovely city Bikaner. Haa bas dhool jyaada hai yaha...or sab thik hai😁💖
Bro casually encapsulated each and every factor. 🔥🔥🔥
SUV me drive position acchi hoti hai thodi uppar hoti hai ab micro SUV exter me drive uppar or rare passenger k liye sedan wala Comfort rahe long route par aisi seats hai kyoki Hyundai best sedan or SUV bana raha hai usko pata hai ki passenger ko kaha Comfort milega to recline karna hai. Or Driver ka Comfort kis level par bethne me hai isiliye exter aate he superhit ho gae for Comfort.
