I have never been a Glock fan. I don't like the feel, the trigger, the sights, and so on.... I got a SS MR920L Elite on a trade. I love it. LOVE it!!! Accurate, comfortable, reliable, good trigger, nice grip, nice sights, nice optics mounting, Worth every penny!
A potential advantage of a longer barrel is increased free recoil travel. Glock (and many OEMs) squander this to use standard-length springs on their longslide pistols, but it would be cool to see an aftermarket manufacturer take advantage. I've done it on my Witness Hunter 10mm, and it makes a huge difference.
I always learn something from you. Your reviews help me appreciate guns I wouldn't carry and help me clarify what it is that draws me to guns I would. This gun: love the low bore axis combined with the beavertail, and there is a beauty to its simplicity and functionality. This simplicity extends to its purpose - competition. They didn't try to make it an "all around" gun. Personally, my focus is self defense, and I enjoy the aesthetics of metal guns over the more strict functionality of polymer. Thanx again!
Yup, they let that glock perfection get into the head, and that crap held them back. Others have passed them. They are still shaking the water off from sleeping in.
@@p00lboy Now, make any 9mm Glock into any Shadow Systems pistol. How much more money will you spend on a Glock to get the features of a stock Shadow Systems pistol.
Nice too see someone reviewing Shadow Systems, I have XR920 combat and love it, no malfunction and works perfectly with defense ammo. At sootch for disassembly try pulling just 1/16 or even 1/32 just enought to pull down the slide tab/lock, and i’m pretty sure the trigger will not move. Trevor from shadow systems explained it too.

The only upgrade for my SS that I implemented other than an optic is a Glock 34 extended slide release. Amazing pistol, about 5k rounds in and after the break in she’s been nothing but a dream. Great video man, thanks a bunch!
Fun fact, this video came out as I was playing with my newly built P80 G17L. Similar style guns but mine has no paper trails and I built it myself. The ported barrel on mine makes it a pleasure to shoot.
@Gun Culture & Iron Sites that's one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard. Can't tell you how many times I've seen somebody get mag dumped on by 9mm hollow points and survive.
I sold my G34 and kept my G17L because it just felt better, and the 17L barrel is an honest long slide 6.02" barrel. Good luck finding a G17L today. My short Glock is a new G19X Coyote Peanut Butts 💥☮️🇺🇲✌️
Longer barrels are not inherently more accurate. The benefits you would receive are from increased sight radius and mass (which reduces felt recoil). However, a red dot eliminates the sight radius advantage. A 4" barrel is perfectly shootable for 9mm. Anything above 5" is really overkill, unless you're running overpressured rounds like 10mm or .357 Sig.
@@ramzankadyrov6035 Eh...you're not going to find any appreciable increase in power factor. As far as hollow-point expansion goes, out of these newer Micro 9's, Federal HSTs will reliably expand out of a sub 3" barrel. Ive had my SS MR920 elite for two years now and its been my edc since then. Still love my Glocks. But Glock is behind the times. I've always been a glock fan but after trying Shadow Systems, I was sold. Ultra reliable but in a premium package. I prefer the original MR918 because it is fully compatible with internal Glock parts which I prefer. The beavertail on the 920 is a bit too long. But overall, I have a lot of fun with it at the range. I tried my friends 920 and I must admit that if the 918 was still available, I prefer that. Hey Trevor, maybe you should bring it back as a MR Classic or Gen 1.
Should I get the DR920 or DR920L for a duty/battle pistol? I have an alien gear leg holster but they don’t make them for Glock 34 footprint so would have to get a whole new holster system with the DR920L.
This would have been the perfect gun for me as a lefty if it had the ambi slide stop! But at least now they’re making an ambi reversal mag release so I may consider buying it.
I do not like Glock pistols, I hate the grip angle. I usually have disliked all Glock clones. However, Shadow Systems has knocked it out of the park. The XR920 with the Radian afterburner ramjet setup plus the Timney trigger. Awesome
"take your Glock to the next level" appears to be a common thread with Glock owners. I like Glocks, don't own one, wouldn't turn one down for the right price. To buy a pistol that needs to be taken to the next level is counterintuitive when there are pistols available that are already there for a comparable price. I'm talking Glocks in general, this pistol is a prime example of where Glock should be from the factory. In this current day, most of us don't have the unlimited funding that is required for "the next level". Reliability, accuracy, manageability are what is needed, though I do appreciate seeing pistols I'll never own that fill a niche.
