Hi There . I just recently assembled and painted this model .I found that the sub hull was easy enough to do . What was
the greatest challenge was the paint for the the stand . I realized that getting the detail paint on the stand would make or break the overall success of the the Seaview model . I'm pleased to say that I was successful and the end result is great . Thanks for your idea's as I watched this episode before I began . .....Yours Truly ....DGR

This was an original, new tool kit made by Moebius and released in 2017. Aurora produced the original 8 window Seaview in the mid 1960's. That model was re-issued by Polar Lights in 1998 or 99.

Very nice work, They made the height of the conning tower too tall, so i dropped that seam on the top of the conning tower into the inside of it, and it looks correct now. I also cut the supports to the base by half, Yours came out great!

Excellent build sir. Built the Polar Lights version a few months ago and no where near what you created. Built the original Aurora kit several times. Always had a fit issue with the rear diving planes assembly as well as the hull. The diving plane assemblies never did seem to match up with the rounded hull. However watching this build brings back memories of 1966.

Just bought this kit, with some extras: etched deck interior and exterior parts , also some lighting effects and a new scratch built base... thanks for guiding me in the right direction, loved watching the build and the paint job two tone was brilliant.....those small parts looked a nightmare to install, not looking forward to that but that's the challenge....

That's Awesome, I'd love to see it when you get it finished. Yeah, small parts are a pain but that's part of the hobby. I was really happy with how the paint came out as well. I'm glad it was helpful to you. Have a great day.

Grew up watching this series, in the sixties,Irvine Allen's collection of series including Lost in Space, Time tunnel and Land of the giants were way ahead of the curb back then.....

I've had a few of these kits over my 59years.. And my best one was done about a year ago. That one came out great. And you're right about the 2 half's coming together. Everyone I've done has the same problem. But, you just work It out. Your's come out really nice 👍. Great job my friend. 👌

Love the paint job on the base! Have to redo mine. One mistake, tail fin lights are white.
Navigation lights are : White light forward, high (on top of the sail), Red port (left) side, Green starboard (right) side, White light aft - low. This is so you can tell what direction ship is going at night. Red & green lights were on the forward sides of the sail.
I'm a retired Navy veteran, I had to know. FTI: Also the same on an aircraft, forward white is for landing, Green strip lights to outline the aircraft shape (formation lights).
Also loved the slide guitar soundtrack.

Here in the UK we don't really get a choice of kits and extras like you guys in the states, and getting these kits over to the UK are a costly exercise, also the dreaded import tax must be included when purchasing.....the kits itself was £32 which is very cheap but then add £23 for postage and about £7 tax that is £62.00 or $74.88 in US....added a photo etch kit by Paragrafix and Paragrafix 1/350 Flying Sub £28.51 plus £13.15 then VAT £8.34 ...Grand total ...£120....or $145.02 US ....as I said costly exercise!!!....still going to enjoy building the kit but no room for error!!

This Moebius Seaview is NOT a reissue of an old kit. Both this and the larger 1/128 kits are original Moebius kits. The old 8 window kit released by Polat Lights is a repop of the old Aurora kit originally released in 1966. Very nice video.

The SEAVIEW in the movie was U.S.O.S. SEAVIEW. The TV version 4 Windows , was S.S.R.N. SEAVIEW. Now I think I'm through. Thank you.

@@johnbockelie3899 Well. There were two different sets of missile tube doors in the movie and TV series. I believe one had 16 tube doors and one had 20 tube doors. And the "sonar" bulges on the bow. Funny how we can remember little details. That is what happens when you major in Trivia 101.

@@garfieldsmith332 There was an episode entitled " Submarine sunk." On it, the eight window SEAVIEW got sunk at the end through sabotage I guess.
Admiral Nelson told Captain Crane at the end that the Navy would raise the SEAVIEW in the following week.
      New season......New look SEAVIEW.
I seen this episode years ago, but that's how the ships looks changed. Also the new SEAVIEW episodes were in color, where the older ones were black and white. The eight window sub was also the same one used in the 1961 movie.

@@johnbockelie3899 Yes. Saw the series back then. And I have the DVD of the series. There were other subtle changes to the exterior and interior. The control room was moved forward so they cold look out thru the glass nose. In the movie and season one the nose was a separated from the control room. It was a lounge / office area. The windows had to be removed to fit the FS1 hangar. They never did explain the changes but it would be presumed that the salvaged Seaview underwent major reconstruction to arrive at the new version. And the format of the show changed. Season one was more intense, spy oriented, intrigue, espionage. Season two was a lot more sci-fi and the last to season became "monster of the week". It was Irwin Allens' best TV show.

@@garfieldsmith332 Also, in the movie, the SEAVIEW was designated U.S.O.S. SEAVIEW. The four window / flying sub one was S.S.R.N. SEAVIEW .
The show lasted from 1964 till 1968.
It out lasted original Star Trek at the time. The show was based in the at the time far off 1970's early 80's.

  • @johnbockelie3899

Aurora models originally made the 8 window version. This was the movie version.
The 4 window one was the TV version.
The 8 window one was featured in the show's first season. Before season 2, the 8 window one was "sunk" in the episode " Submarine sunk". The 2nd season that SEAVIEW came along.😁 The show lasted from 1964- 1968. The movie version had only a diving bell and mini sub. That version had a flying sub , mini sub, and diving bell.

    • @garfieldsmith332
      @garfieldsmith332 2 роки тому

Yep. Mini sub, diving bell, spear torpedoes, torpedo tubes, missile tubes. All somehow contained in the mid section of the ship. Irwin Allen was not a fan of reality.😊
