she never ceases to amaze. My favorite singer of all time. You said she sounds like a middle aged woman....which one sounds like that. I haven't heard her and I'm a spry 54 yrs old that has been performing music for 40+ years. I have never come across talent nearing this sweet girl.
You're right on...she CAN do anything with her voice...you'd love Bohemian Rhapsody ...will also blow u away...and her new original 7th heaven so uplifting and jazzy!
Angelina (12yo here) is steeped in jazz and it's influence is evident in all of her performances. She is truly amazing - a unique and exceptional talent and a delightful young human being.
That part where you paused at the end... she had taken a short breath and then blasted for 16 seconds. With that one breath.
Just sitting on a couch. Wearing whatever she pulled out of her dresser that morning.
No pretense of glamour.
With a thermostat on the wall behind her.
Already one of the most skilled and talented singers. Ever.

As she does often and very well, Angelina is re-creating a style of soul singing from the fifties and sixties. The original classic version is by Etta James. Angelina, in her unmistakeable way, pays tribute to Etta and her style of blues/soul here. You should listen to the original and you’ll realize why Angelina chose this style, with exaggerated vocal fry, to take us back to the Etta James era. As always, Angelina respects the original and learns from it-putting touches of the older style in her singing, but giving us pure Angelina.
I noticed in your recap of Angelina reactions, you haven’t yet heard Bohemian Rhapsody. That’s the one that throws people over the edge. You think Angelina has surprised and impressed you now, but prepare yourself for what I think is truly one of the best live musical performances I’ve ever seen. And I guarantee you will think that, too, especially after you’ve played that video five or ten times in succession. And you will do that.

Angelina's just dubbing. This is actually being sung by a 50-year old black woman sitting on a piano in a smoky sub-street dive in upper Manhattan while cradling a glass with a half inch of bourbon still in it.

Great reaction. Like I have said before Angelina is just warming up. When she is ready to show the world her full capabilities it will be an awesome time indeed. I think we have only heard half of her talent. If and when Angelina Jordan combines her magical voice, her piano playing skills, and her own music, will we then be able to experience her full musical gift. We have only gotten a small sample of her playing the piano so far.

What is crazy is she sings a lot of songs sitting down comfortably.
Any professional singer will tell you it is harder to sing and belt those notes sitting down.

The Angelina explosion around the world will be heard soon, she will be sucking the air out of the industry and right now is single-handedly making every other artist take note because she sings in their genre. Angelina will be a legend in her own time IMHO. My favorite singer, that is to humble by a million miles to ever say what I just said about her. Thumbs up DWG.

Angelina has the ability to channel the original artist and sound a bit like that artist while still making the song her own. Many call her the girl with 1000 voices and I think before the end of her career that number will need to be higher. Easily the most talented and accomplished child vocalist of all time. No reason to believe she won't become the greatest of all time regardless of age. We just need to be patient until she and her family are ready for her career to explode, likely in 2 to 3 years.
Remember that Angelina is first and foremost a jazz singer. She's got jazz in her blood and no singer today can come close to her way of singing & I insist: NOBODY including the greatest stars you may think of. As a matter of fact, she can easily beat them on their own ground. Listen to her sing Adele, Rihana, Miley Cyrus or Lana del Rey, you'll be blown away by her rendition of their "hit songs". Keep up the good work.
By all means, view her originals and like Million Miles, 7th Heaven, Shield, Bucked up for your ride into AJ's catalogue.

Nice reaction. Angelina is the barefoot princess of 1000 voices and here you hear one of them. This song is by Etta James, and she is singing in that old school style.
Going back in time to the beginning when she was on Norway's Got Talent is a great idea. However, also consider that she signed with Republic records a year or so ago and has four new songs out that are phenomenal.

The first 10 songs or so are originals and specials. Then you start the chronological list at age six going up to the present.
That’s exactly what she is doing. She just set down messing around with her new microphone she received for her twelfth birthday. Trying it out. May be her first time as she is holding it backwards

Even though the tag line says that she is 13 in this, I believe she is actually 12, trying out her new mic she got from her family for her 12th birthday. We don't know whether she is singing into the back of the mic by mistake or whether she is doing it for a special effect. I think it's the latter. You are exactly right, this is just Angelina experimenting with her voice, singing to a backing tract while sitting on the sofa. And yes, her runs are astounding. I can't believe you paused the video the last time in the middle of a mind-blowing 16 sec run, the best one in the whole song. You should go back & listen to that run again on your own. I don't know where she gets all the air for these sustained runs, but her breath control is off the charts according to "real" vocal coaches. If you want to see her power singing while "sitting" in her living room, you have to react to her cover of Freddie Mercury's (Queen), singing The Show Must Go On. Even though we dont know for sure the mic orientation choice, we can definitely say it delivered a special effect no matter what😁
Given the thousands of times Angelina has used mics I seriously doubt she doesn’t know exactly what she is doing, my guess she has used this particular model many times, thus the choice of this mike for her 12th birthday. I will lean toward those who think she is just testing the parameters of what she can do with this mike and not foolishly think she doesn’t know which side is which...I could be wrong but seriously doubt it, she seems to always know exactly what she’s doing...it’s her world.
Thank you for sharing another great reaction. Angelina will continue to provide you with delight and surprise. You never actually get used to the Angelina 'effect', despite knowing it's coming, with every performance. You could try one of her own co/compositions, just to put you in awe of a different facet of her genius. Oslo, What is life, Shield, Million miles, 7th Heaven to choose from there.

Angelina started singing with 18 months. She started with classic old jazz songs (Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Halliday etc...) She also has amazing covers from Elvis and Frank Sinatra’s songs. Her maternal grandmother, who is an artistic genius too, introduced her to the jazz world . She also wrote a children’s book and become the youngest writer from Norway.
She always makes the arrangements and the lyrics of the songs.
The musicians who performed with her called her “The Boss”
There’s another reacently cover from an Adele’s song “All I Ask” . Breathtaking. She sang the cover while she being seated.

Thanks for your reaction to our gal, Angelina. The technical term you are looking for this type of singing style is vocal fry . Its a technique used by jazz singers. Now, this song is a classic jazz staple by Etta James but if you listen to her you will notice that even she doesn't use that much vocal fry in the song. It's Angelina's interpretation and her way of doing 'justice' to the song. Also ,have to point out that Angelina didn't 'learn' how to sing in this manner , how could she when there's nobody in her era that sings this way so there's nobody around she can emulate or 'sound ' like . It's the countless hours she has spent with her grandmother listening to the giants of jazz and honing her jazz techniques throughout all the covers and originals Her ability to sing effortlessly comes from being pitch perfect coupled with a highly developed breath control and being able to extract every emotion of every lyric she sings .
Her musical genius shines through in everything she does, like the way she's phrasing the songs and the way she makes her runs sound so perfectly balanced, but, in this case, maybe most of all, the way she builds the song to a climax and then gently eases off to the end and lets us gently settle back down to ponder over what we just heard.
Most unfortunately, you managed to pause the video at a that very moment, which probably lessened the listening experience. I'm not concerned though, coz I'm sure you'll hit the replay button at least a couple of times, but think about it - don't stop the tape rolling in the middle of a phrase, it's like taking a bre-

You need to react to "Bohemian Raphsody" by Queen and "Goodby Yellowbrick Road" by Elton John next. If you want to really melt you brain try "How Great Thou Art" or her tribute to Whitney Houston. You are so much fun to watch. Her original songs are good too. Try "Shield".

You at this point have not heard Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, AGT 2020 at 13 Yellow Brick Road, also AGT, Elvis "Suspious Minds" at 16, "Back to Black" at age 10 she completely rewrote the lyrics to be age appropriate , "Stay" at 11 or 12, "BORN TO DIE" At 11,, "Mary's Boy Child" (11) .. her own "Million Miles" she wrote at 14 when her grandpa died, and recorded at 15, "7th Heaven" she wrote and performed (16) , "My Way" (11 or12), and you need to hear her sing a concert in Norway in 2022 (16) singing "Love on the Brain" all her Adel covers Whitney covers, John legend covers, Allen Walker invited her to open his concert she sang "Sing me to Sleep" and "Faded" at age 10 she was sick at the time with a sore throat and 102 fever yet insisted on doing the show. This is not even a drop in the bucket of her stuff. Keep going you will not be disappointed
