  • Sharing my thoughts on this MOD I recently did on a Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder.
    I made this video a while back, but didn't have time to edit and post it until now. I hope you can filter through some of my babble, as I was exhausted when recording this vid. LOL
    This guitar sold before I was able to do a jam/play-though video. So, I added a clip I did with my other Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder jam vid.
    Thanks for watching

    I wanted a cheap guitar with a Floyd Rose and active pickups. So I ended up getting one of these in black. Very happy with it - love the neck and was pleasantly surprised how good the EMG pickups are - especially when I stomp on the RAT or DS-1.

    Schecter definitely makes great lower end guitars. Great mods.

    I have the same model and color. It's my main axe for the studio and live. Chose it over a Charvel Pro Mod. Glad I did.

    The trem it comes with new is a Floyd HotRod with stainless steel string locking screws and you can see in your trem that those screws are silver in colour so possible it's still that same unit? The arm is a push in thank God, I hate those collars on the original trems. Having said all that I somehow managed to thread the saddles using these stainless steel screws (and i've never done that in my many years of abusing trems) so I'm awaiting on some normal German screws coming as I've had this guitar shelved for a few years now.

    • @redcustard
      @redcustard 3 роки тому

      Ah, on closer look the Floyd has Special written on it so looks like they've just taken that and added the stainless steel bits and push in bar part.

      @@redcustard Yes.these guitars come with a Floyd Rose Special "Hotrod" I changed out the bridge and used the stainless steel screws from the special.

      @@tonlarj37 Well I'll see how things go and how i feel about the guitar overall but getting a hold of the original hotrod would be ace.

    Tony, that was a great review. Question for you: what's the slinkiest/easy bend feeling 24 fret guitar you've ever played? Any brands you prefer for ease of play? Thanks

      @tonlarj37  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks!
      Well... I’ve been able to play any brand. I guess it depends on what gage strings I’m using. Sometimes if a guitar is too tight feeling, I’ll set it up with lighter gage strings. Or, the other way around. Until I find a sweet spot.

    I got the Tele body same color and everything else the same as what you have there . Never had any problem with the Floyd or any real problems . I do plan to put Locking Goto Tuners on it but that's all. I play mostly Thrash and Shred and its one of the best Guitars I have ever owned at any Price point in almost 40 years of playing Guitar ! Draw from this what you may ???

    Man, a floyd with posts that are barely in there? Can't imagine that was fun to tune at all. Routing seems a little scary though...was it just a tiny bit? Or did you have to remove a fair bit of wood?

    • @tonlarj37
      @tonlarj37  4 роки тому

      Well, I knew what I was possibly getting into with this. It was just a little routing on the corners. Not as scary feeling when working on a $300 guitar. When I was done with it all, it felt and played like a higher end guitar.... no joke! So, easy trade off. The guy who bought it got a much better guitar than otherwise. lol

    Tony, I know this is an old video, but why on Earth did you sell both of your Schecter Sun Valley guitars? You pointed out so many good things about them, I just can't see why you wouldn't have kept at least one of them if you know

      In short, a couple guys saw the video's and offered a worthy price. So, I sold. That's happened a number of times. It also has afforded me the opportunity to purchase other guitars to mess around with and review for this channel. Thanks for the comment.

    I have the same guitar.....the term bridge is getting hung up on the wood of the body..seems like it wasn't routed quite enough. Won't settle back to pitch. Is taking the floyd out and doing a slight dremel job pretty easy ..never took out a floyd before?

    • @tonlarj37

      ahmed hanin I slightly prefer the neck and pickups on this Schecter, but you’ll most likely need to invest in it a bit. As I mentioned in this video. The Charvel’s seem to be more solid consistent. I’m personally not as big a fan of the speed neck. Just a preference think. Better components on the Charvels
