Landon is on a mission to buy ALL the Teles.
:)
How many do you have?
Yes.
:)
Best Regards!
The Classic Vibe are great. Squier/Fender has really hit a home run with that line.
The figuring in that neck is stellar.
The figuring on the neck is even rare to find on custom shop models; that looks so cool!
Omg that neck!! Looks great!! Always wanted one of these!
They're really great guitars, I recently bought a butterscotch blonde CVTele, brilliant quality for the money, you can't go wrong, now I want a 70s custom
I used to shrug at Teles and think I wouldn't be caught DEAD with it, sticking with my shred axes, but as I progressed now I think if I had to have only one guitar, it would be a tele
Landon, thank you for making this video.
One thing I remember from walking through forests over the years is that poplar trees tend to grow really straight, and they grow tall, though "tall" is relative, I know.
So it makes sense that poplar would be considered for use in guitar manufacture.
Looks and sounds like Squier hit it out of the park, once again, on this release.
🎸👍😄
Finally, I've been waiting for this review! 😀
oh cool enjoy!
Love your reviews, Thanks for the in-depth looks at your subject matter and your humor.
cheers!
Waiting on mine now I'm excited it's my first Tele.
I'm amazed at the overall quality of classic vibe guitars. They are a great value and don't break the bank. I have 3 teles and 2 strats of various models and haven't had a problem with any. Always get a good setup as with any guitar.
Joseph Heikes when you think you can buy three guitars , a classic vibe Jaguar, Stratocaster and Telecaster for the same price as one American performer strat. I have the performer strat and would rather have 3 classic vibes absolutely no question
@@pauljohnson9260 Fit and finish on the cvs are better than some US made models !
I bought one of those last month and I was blown away what a cool guitar it is for the price.
Thanks for this Video. I cant think of anything missing in this. Great stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cheers for this review. Extremely helpful
no problem!
Sweet Axe! Love that they’re now embossing the Squier logo on the pickup covers. It would have been cool if they would have made “S” keys too. 😁👍
Squire has hit a home run with their Classic vibe series . I am usually not a Squier fan , but I had a Made in Korea , pro-tone Squier Strat years ago that was very good ! I had a 2010 Classic Vibe Tele Custom that was super good ! Unfortunately I own neither one at present . I bought the Strat used at a super price , but lost it in a trade for an American Strat . A couple years ago I traded the Tele away because the neck was too thin for me . Of course , in retrospect I wish I would have kept the guitar and installed a heftier neck . Build quality was excellent , and I had a 4-way pickup switch and brass barrel saddles on mine . They are easy to mod ,and just great quality !
I still have a 97 Pro Tone Fat Strat. Its the single best guitar Squier has ever been allowed to produce. They outspec'd MIMs so Fender felt it best to keep Squier as a budget brand and cancelled them after just three years.
Beautiful Telecaster, always loved the custom deluxe Tele......great channel !!
thanks! 🎸👍
Great guitar, and great video. Haven't heard of anyone unhappy with a Squier CV, I love mine!
😄👍🎸
Been thinking to get back into guitar and this is prob the most impressive Guitar review I've ever seen!
oh hey thanks! have fun!
Very good review! The good audio and picture quality along with good editing and production make your videos stand above many others. I have always wanted a Tele Custom. You seldom see them is probably why I never bought one. This Classic Vibe version looks like a decent guitar. I think Fender hit a home run with the Classic Vibe series guitars. They are a close replication of the older guitars we all would like to own. I've played the CV Tele and Strat and was impressed with their looks, sound and playability. And all at a fair price!
hey thanks! I say the Classic Vibe series is great. I've liked all that I've had my hands on.
I've always wanted a 70's Tele Custom. Thanks for the review. Now I'm sweating bullets again because I want one so bad !
🎸cheers!
great line of axes! I have the 72ri and the p90 version of this one. Solid and great players
Many thanks Landon for your superb reviews ...Settled for tele deluxe 🤟👍
nice! 👍🎸
Have one of these with the burst finish. Nice easy guitar to play. Has a well dressed neck out of the box. Yep, I'm on the tropic of Capricorn and all I had to do to mine was give it a tune and start playing. Keeps tune very well even in the Aussie Southern tropics. A little disappointed with the neck pickup being slightly dull yet it is still perfectly usable. Very good value for money.
cool! sounds like a similar experience. is the burst also poplar?
I was reading in reviews some people were having trouble with the intonation. How was yours?
👌🏻Absolutely lovely, great guitar and fantastic value, great review as always Thank you !
Thank you kindly!
I sub to you the other day and you had like 18.4k and in a matter of like 3 days you went to 18.9k that is amazing. Initially I came for the builds and stayed for the dad jokes!
Hey, Landon
I recently discovered your channel and just wanted to let you know that I enjoy your content and your delivery. Great stuff 👊🏼
oh hey thanks! appreciate it 👍🎸
70s telecaster, and Vox AC 15, you got it all my friend!🤠
Sweet guitar bro! Gotta love the cv series.
This is a complete review, you're the best
Wow, thanks!
Very nice guitar and affordable too. Love the neck on this one, great figuring. Enjoyed the sounds through the DS-1 and the Tubescreamer.
that's the word I couldn't recall! thanks. cheers!
i like it a lot. many of us find the traditional neck pickup on a tele to be useless, so the humbucker is a welcome edition, even if you are only using it to get the bridge to sound less tinny
I like it for Smooth Soloing but with a Wide Range HB it should be even more Fun ❤️🔥
Man, I've been wanting this guitar for while and decided to pick one up. Last one in goddamn Canada, got so lucky!
Thank you for doing a nice comparison tone test. All the other reviews I see and hear and guys shredding and showing off, it's so useless. You did a great job!
oh hey thanks! I can't play like those other players of I wanted to 😁
I had a Fender custom like this in 1980. I think it was a 1975 model, ash body clear lacquer finish. This Squire nails it pretty much dead on. It's very nice. I'd consider getting one in sunburst for sure. Good video man n
ah nice!
I like the gloss and yeah that grain pops and has indication of like birds eye
Very cool review Landon! Great example of how to review a guitar. Spot on!!!
thanks Hugh!
Love your reviews, always have a laugh watching👍
Glad to hear it!
this video is really accurate !
thanks buddy !
cheers from 🇮🇹
Glad it helped!

Great review. One of the best review styles I've seen.
Definitely earned a subscribe from me! :D
Welcome aboard!
Recently picked up this guitar in 3 tone Sunburst. Amazing guitar for the quality. Thanks for the review, liked and subbed.
Awesome, thank you!
I got the same guitat, i also have a telecaster player and i gotta say that is on another level!
Have not played any classic vibe Squires yet. Maybe I should. Thanks Landon!! Have a great rest of the week!!
cheers peter!
your close up camera work is some of the best on youtube
cheers!
For some reason I didn’t get notified about this one. Happens from time to time ? That’s a great value Tele. Sounds great especially with some gain. Cheers Landon 👍👍
ya happens sometimes!
Love classic vibes. I now have three. Eyeing this one 😂
ya they are fun
I just subscribed. you seem really cool and this was a great review.
Thanks for the sub!
Really nice looking guitar ! Poplar was used a lot in 70s Fenders !
I literally bought a used one of these yesterday! I found it at McKay's (a used books and such store) and the guy behind the counter suggested this one over the others based on my budget. Only thing I need are an amp, cord, pick, case, and strap. As you may have guessed now, I am new to this. I'm not sure which year mine is, and aside from needing a new pickup switch toggle nob, I am happy to hear I chose a good guitar considering I know nothing.
Just picked up one of these today, based on this and a few other reviews. It suits my modest playing ability well... can't justify spending more than 2x for a Vintera and 4x for an American Original. A couple of burred fret ends, but nothing serious, and the action is a bit high out of the box. Long & McQuade provides a free set up within the first year, so I'll mess with it a bit, and then probably bring it in for a little fiddling about later. Love the sound palette out of this unit... the standard's too twangy and the deluxe too humbuck-y for my taste, so this falls nicely in the middle. Thanks for this and your other reviews... always informative.
Pretty damn sweet guitar for the money🔥
As a lefty with no more space at home for guitars I dont know anymore whether to be upset at how few models Squier make for lefties because I would buy nearly any CV they make. Very happy with the CVs I own. Got the jazzmaster, it did have some issues (damaged tuners, slightly damaged fretboard, finish flaws) but these were sorted by luthier. Great guitar once it was setup and the QA stuff sorted.
🎸👍 ah ya the limited choices must be disappointing sometimes
Yeah the neck you got on that one with the birdseye running thought it looks awesome !! Nice looking. I almost bought 1 of those insted of my VM Tele Deluxe I had got back in 2012.
I also agree .. I got Amazon Prime in dec I think it was & you get some great deals in there. :)
ya watch for sudden unannounced price drops. some great deals every so often.
Hey Lando, i've thought about my replies with you and have failed miserably to mention my favorite guitar in the last 40 years. It's a Peavey 15 with Peavey Super Ferrite pickups. If there was a super tele, this is it. They are built with the best hardware and electronics available in the US. Full size Switch Craft pots and toggle, metal knobs, heavey steel bridge, alder body, maple neck, Kluson Deluxe Vintage tuners and micro tilt neck. An indestructable guitar with pure tone.... I added a Super Ferrite middle pickup with a micro slide switch for those in between strat sounds. I used to gig with it (tons) but decided to only record to save the thing since they aren't made now. The price for these and other "T" series guitars are jumping up every day. My favorite builder (except maybe Leo) is Hartley Peavey. He was trying to outgun Fender, Gibson and others. Tough to beat tradition. In doing so, he made some of the best instruments for an average amount of funds ever, I think. Maybe you've run on to them???? If not, see if you can grab one and let me know what you think. Oh, forgot, the t15 has stainless steel frets! That tells me the intention to make a top end guitar....
Nice piece birdesye maple for the neck !
Really nice! Bought an old Squier Strat Affinity. It too has that vintage sound. I think it's less hit or miss with the specialty models like the "Classic Vibe". If you had to have one model, I think the one demoed for us could be it. 🎸🎸
Great video! I have been thinking about getting one of the deluxe models I think I'm sold!! I took a squire affinity tele that has a great neck, I changed all the electronics and put a Seymour Duncan broadcaster pickup in the neck and a Dimarzio chopper t rail humbucker in the bridge sounds great now. On the deluxe model I like the individual volume and tone knobs for different tones.
hey thanks! I like the deluxe too with the big headstock. hope to try one soon
Very good video. I've never seen a more detailed video of a guitar review. Good Job..
Glad you liked it!
Great review. Thanks Paul Rudd
No problem 👍
I went in for a 50s classic vibe tele , seen a 60s thin line so I brought the two of them
Loved the 70s classic vibe Telecaster review so much I ordered one on eBay. Man what a great little guitar the sound and playability is amazing. Neck was a bit sticky when new. But very VERY! fine sand paper takes care of that problem. Other than that I got nothing to complain about. Great guitar. A must have. Cheers geezer. Garty!! London.
Very cool! ya I did the sandpaper mod to another neck I have. works great
That telecaster is great
You still have that in your collection
great guitar for a great price nice one Lando
Also,
To say you "Like" a Tele is a grand under statement.
😀😀😆😆💕💕
I'm not picking up much difference between the neck and the middle position. Definitely like the bridge pickup. And quite beautiful.
'picking up'. I like the pun :)
Landon, great comprehensive video. In your final thoughts, I would appreciate some words on how you found the sound of the pickups. Listening off the 'Tube is not ideal. Since you are playing in the same space, with the same amp, and have all those other Tele's to compare to some personal opinions on the sound of the axe relative to others would really be helpful. Thanks.
hey thanks! ya that's the thing with hearing a recording VS hearing it in the room. I really like the pickups. I think the neck is a bit louder though, so I've tried raising the height of the bridge pickup. overall though I really like them.
hope that helps. I'm sure I'll have the guitar in future comparison videos
The neck looks great, there's some bird's eye, or almost, to it. And I rather prefer the wooden plug headstock over the bullet truss rod of the 70's Fenders.
Thank you for posting! I was impressed guitar sound itsself, but I was more impressed that sound came out from my computer speaker.
its some sort of 3D or stereo image want to know how did you record it using any audio interface or trick?
cheers! no special audio on my side
Very nice guitar Landon. Good to hear it came set up & playable, that should be the norm imo. The finish on the neck looks gorgeous and it certainly sounds great. Interesting they say it's a bone nut, saw some specs in England ,said it's "synthetic bone" ,which I guess is plastic lol ! As long as it's cut properly ,I don't think it makes much difference, as you don't hear of folk complaining about the plastic nut on their vintage 'burst Les Pauls ... Compared to the original guitars , you will notice on a regular Tele & variants , the upper body bout meets the neck at the 17th fret ,but on all Teles from around '72 - '81 , it meets at the 16th. They only discovered this while doing R&D for the '52 reissue ! CBS had introduced CNC machining but didn't adjust the size of the cutter to the program. Cheers, great review 👍
hey thanks! ya the term bone is used a lot. not sure the proper definition anymore :)
Shirt definitely says Coca Cola (also “Fresh & Tasty” at the top and “registered trademark” at the bottom). Though I have actually literally seen a shirt with Japanese for some insult or another against westerners on it once. So that remark was spot on!
Recently discovered your channel. Great stuff! Really helps my search for my first Tele.
hey thanks! and ya with the shirt, I just thought it would be funny if it didn't say what we thought 😊👍
Telecasters are great guitars. I highly recommend that you keep watching/subscribe to his channel for good info and impressions. Straight talk, no BS. Clever conversation and good video content.
Hey Lando!
I’m a huge fan of your channel! Your review style and content really hit home with me. I, too, own a 50’s CV in butterscotch that is my #1 Guitar (I also own an Affinity and Standard Squier Teles as well and gig with all three). I’m eyeing this particular model and wondered if you ever played the Vintera model for comparison?
hey thanks! I haven't played a Vintera yet, but assume they are pretty good. I really have like MIM models
Hi Landon, I have this guitar except mine is a sunburst finish. The other thing I noticed on mine is the neck pickup says Fender wide range not Squier. Anyway, it's a great guitar. It's almost on par with my Fender Tele Player Plus. Not quite as good but darn close IMO.
I enjoy your videos and appreciate the time you put into them. Keep up the great work.
cheers!
Hi Landon, great video. Did you have any problems with the three saddle bridge? I saw on a different video sometimes the guys change it out for a brass bridge. Or does the stock one work pretty well as far as intonation? Thanks Landon.
I don’t recall any issues
frig i want one in sunburst at my store long and mcquade, good demo man cheers from Halifax NS
cheers!
just found your channel and so glad I did! these reviews are really helpful and you just got another subscriber. Actually debating on whether to buy this one or the telecaster ‘50s CV in white blonde for a first electric guitar, what do you think?
hey there! I would personnaly pick the CV 50 over this one. But that's just me
Landon Bailey thank you! I’ll try them both next week, hopefully I can decide :)
Cool guitar man
🎸😊
I just got one of these and if I'm being honest, I kinda prefer it over my Fender Player Series tele.
Great video and very well shown the guitar.
My question is: what camera are you using? Thanks and regards
Hey there thanks! The camera is a Sony FDR AX53
I really like this guitar.
Some times, you wonder if a Squier CV is worth the extra cost over an Affinity model. Then you see a review like this and you know beyond any doubt that a CV is definitely worth it, if you can afford it. Not there's anything wrong with a well set up Squier Affinity.
Absolutely right sir
Would you ever do a video comparison with the 70s vibe Custom and the 70s vibe Deluexe, and if not, which do you prefer? I've been narrowing down what Tele i plan on buying and I'm leaning towards the Custom but I'd like to know your opinion.
The stock Pickups sound great on that guitar. The lead pickup is built to spec as my real 1968 Fender rear Tele pickup, actually yours sound better, so much for the vintage hype. USA Fender Strats and Teles did come with poplar bodies in a good part of the 1990s.
Next buy should be the Squier Classic Vibe 69 Telecaster Thinline. I don't see much different in that guitar than an actual 1969 Fender Telecaster Thinline in looks or construction wise.
Yup. You got some birdseye lol. Wow. You scored!
🎸👍🐦🐦
Hola Landon una pregunta esta guitarra calsic vibe telecaster es la misma modifed? Gracias maestro
Thanks Landon - looking to get a tele - would you recommend this or the 50's CV tele in butterscotch? I don't have a tele yet so would be my first, play lots of 90's/00's rock. Cheers
I preferred the 50s CV in Butterscotch
Im confused wether to get this or the 70s CV strat
How different are the tones from one of these compared with say a classic Vibes 50's stye tele, to my new player ears they do seem somewhat different? Been shopping my local used market for my first tele, and one of these came up for $325...I figured you'd have a review!
I'd love to get a Classic Vibe guitar, but since I want a white Strat with a maple fretboard but unfinished neck, it's going to be a Player Series. Significantly more expensive, but that's how it is. This Tele looks great though!
Finished necks suck. I'd take a Bullet for that reason.
Hello there 😊
What do you mean unfinished neck?
Do you mean the freeboard?
Unfinished like rosewood?
@@dimitrisaivaliotis5616 By "unfinished neck" we mean the back of a guitar neck that has not been lacquered with a sticky clear coat which makes it easier for your hand to move up and down because it's nice and smooth (and a matt finish).
I got the Player Series Strat in the meantime but wouldn't buy it again, I'd go for a Classic Vibe guitar and just sand down the sticky neck.
@@AxCYeR
Thank you 😊
Ok.thats the trick
What is wrong with player strat?
@@dimitrisaivaliotis5616 I don't think it's worth 600€, had to replace the tuning machines because they were complete shit. Doesn't feel and play much better than a Squier. Should have got a proper 1000€ Fender oder a 250€ Classic Vibe. Just how I feel about it...
Has anyone had a problem with intonation? With the 3 saddles? Or have people replaced them? Thanks
I have this guitar but in sunburst and it's my go to guitar. I also have that guitar strap. Lol. I did however take the gloss off the neck. I found that to be a bit sticky for my taste. Definitely punches above its weight class.
Right on!
Good Video and allthough i h already own a couple of Teles, that would still be a Tele that i could need in my Garage :)
👍😄
It pisses me off to hear people going like “it’s an awesome guitar for the price.” If it sounds great, looks great and is comfortable to play, then what else d’ya need?
Hello I'm on a possible mission to make a modded/custom Tele but i was wondering if i could replace the stock bridge on this tele with a tele deluxe bridge without running into any problems with screw hole placement. If anyone could let me know I'd appreciate it a lot
hey man! I am torn between this guitar and a starcaster holowbody by squire. what do you think? tele is $475 !and starcaster is $400....
anyone know the riff he was playing at 14:56 on that neck pickup?
Hey Landon! I just got one today in a trade deal. Serial number says it's a 2018 FSR from the Cort factory.
I see some differences and was gonna share with you and see if you have any other details. The bridge pickup on this one is labeled Duncan designed. The neck pickup has actual fender engraved in it. Also this neck doesn't seem as yellow as yours. Still glossy but lighter color than say my modern player Tele. Any ideas about the differences or why the differences?
my first guess is it's the older Vintage modified line: ua-cam.com/video/wgQ1k0mBwBk/v-deo.html
Hey landon great vid, I just have a question. Is it strong thru or can you put it through the saddles or whatever? Coz I'm thinking of putting a bigsby on it and Idk if you can or not
hey thanks! I'm not sure what you're asking. the body is string through, you can see it in the video. I don't anything about Bigsbys except that I don't like the look :)
I have one that is very similar, but is at least 15 years old, and with Duncan P90's. Doesn't seem to be a lot of info about it.
Great demo Landon, apart from telling it like it is....I loved the humourous angle at the end....deilberate?
