He saves a lot of energy making less strokes than the rest, his glide is spectacular

I saw once a fisherman swimming in the Mediterranean with wide exaggerated arm strokes, nearly whole upper body out of the water and with an asymmetric rhythm... of course it contradicted all what was taught in swimming then..today I am so surprised to see some elements of it becoming the norm for champions.
The wide stroke is easier on the shoulder system this reducing fatigue - he decellerates more gracefully than his competitors
Probably as efficient a swimmer as there has ever been. Very thin and buoyant then his catch is as good as anyone if not the best . From his fingertips to his elbow is all one surface holding the water.

They where other swimmers caps for fun and respect. Ceccon did it at the World Cup last year

It was a little contest.I dont really think Popovici would want to show his true force till Olympics.Plus he has lots of preparations to do after the last year when he barelly trained.
The announcer repetitively miss-pronouncing his name was killing me.
The announcer is from Finland, I have no idea why he is there doing the announcing. Maybe LEN / FINA should hire some announcer's full-time, to do all the major meets?
