I swam for 3 years in high school (2002, 2003, 2004) and I loved butterfly and worked hard to improve my technique. I remember always feeling absolutely dead after a 100 yard fly though and couldn't believe that there was a 200 Meter fly event. My arms would feel like they do when you try to max out on pushups and I just couldn't lift them at a certain point. I always wondered if I just didn't train hard enough or if it's a physiological thing for me. To this day I still feel like I just have bad circulation in my feet and hands. Like holding bags from the grocery store will make my hands tingly. Props to these guys for swimming it so well.
Seriously! It’s my third year swimming and i have the exact same sentiments as yours, especially the feeling where your hands just refuse to move water. It’s incredible how they swim the 200 fly
