The first album I ever bought was Freak Show - on tape. I loved that album. The only time I ever saw Silverchair play live was at this concert. I'm glad I was able to be there

Surpassing ac/dc even
Seeing this set for the first time in 2020. Although I don't much care for the last Silverchair album, Daniel John's has the most amazing vocal range and does so good live! The whole band plays so well together.
Please for the love of god, give Young Modern time to grow on you. It's insane, but you can't tell on first listen. Young Modern Station, Reflection of a Sound, Those Thieving Birds, crazy chord changes everywhere.
Young Modern really lends itself to live performance more than recording imo.

What a transformation between '95 and '07. Angsty grunge shifts to dark metal shifts to grandiose orchestrations and beautiful chord progressions, finally creating a total experimental "F U" to anyone who thought they had them pegged. I'm really looking forward to their new stuff, I hope it's not just a one off single.

Best vocals on straight lines I’ve come across so far! Better than the studio IMO love that slight grit and power.

Great band. What a show they put on too. Their last albums, Diorama in particular, are incredibly underrated albums. Spectacular stuff. Should they ever get back together and Corona-lies-r-us ever ends, they'll be high on my list of priorities to see live again.

I’m commenting this every chance I get- YM GETS WAY TOO MUCH HATE.
I do the same, but only in reverse. No other piece of music brings out the seething hatred in me like the unforgivable YOUNG MODERN. That abomination alone took Silverchair from being my #1 most cherished band and rocketed them straight down to about #63,871. It’s far easier for me to pretend that they all died after DIORAMA than have to acknowledge that twinkledink glitterfunk band-slaying album even exists. Even in my worst nightmares I couldn’t have fathomed the Hellspawn chimaera of a lethally drunk Tiny Tim, Bjork and David Bowie that Daniel would mutate into. It’s the most tragic thing I have ever had to witness within the world of rock music.

Justamente mi favorito es Young Modern, talvez al principio es algo difícil de asimilar pero luego lo aprecias incluso más que los anteriores jaja
Para gente que siguio a silverchair desde 1995 o 1996, Diorama fue el pico de talento de los muchachos. YM fue un refrito mal hecho y se notaba el cansancio de los 3. The Dissociatives, melodica y compositivamente (aun siendo mucho mas humilde) fue un proyecto muchísimo más elaborado que Young Modern.
Escuchando en 2023 siento que Young Modern es un súper discazo, pero hay que distanciarlo del resto de discos. Y hasta cierto punto ningún disco de Silverchair es igual, todos son diferentes entre sí.

That was an edit for TV airing. At the show Reflections was earlier in the set
they’ve been friends since they were little little kids. and then together as a band for what approx 19 yrs? that’s a long time. especially if Daniel is extremely sensitive and artistic in many ways he needed to expand. I wish they would forgive and forget and stay good friends but not needing to see each other everyday. if “Silverchair” sounded like future never I wouldn’t like the brand. Like the deftones chino started that Crosses. and Billie Joe did side project bands so did Blink 182. omg there’s hope! Blink became close again after a long break. it really is like a divorce and Chris is the kid in the middle.

sad to see such a great band go from classic to weird... most stuff after Diorama is junk compared to before.... the sales and views here reflect it.... sure people would still go to a concert but you probably wont hear the Silverchair you were expecting.... seemed to go in a diff musical direction after Paul Mac got involved.

I’m not going to disagree with the fact that the music changed (I personally love YM and every other album tho), but I’m just going to add that Paul Mac was working with Silverchair as early as 1998 :)

Creo que la mayoría se quedo con la versión mas Grunge de este Grupo. a mi me paso. Lo que pasa es que no siguieron el rumbo de Pearl Jam u otros que quizas podrian haber hecho mas acústicos u otra cosa. Pero el llegar a convertirse en algo como Codplay en el tema " Straight Lines " para mi en particular fue un tremendo choque de estilos. Y no digo que no sea bueno Codplay, Pero verlo en Silverchair fue como un mazazo en mala. Una desilusión después de lo rockero que entregaba. Todos evolucionan y pueden cambiar de estilo, pero no siempre se termina entendiendo. Algunos músicos con el tiempo terminan volviendo a sus raíces. Pero acá parece que así no fue.
El problema fue la calidad. Diorama tenía pop, psicodelia, rock orquestral, progresivo, balada, etc... pero todo con una altura increible. De los mejores discos de la década 00. Pero no fue así con Young Modern. YM se veia apurado, barato, hecho sin ganas, sin la belleza de las composiciones previas. Inclusive The Dissociatives, salido 3 años antes de YM eran increiblemente experimental y llamativo como proyecto. Unas melodias alucinantes. Daniel entregó demasiado talento demasiado joven, quemó sus melodías más increibles antes de los 25 años. La prueba está en que desde YM para acá, cada vez ha sido peor su producción. Sus dos discos solistas son pésimos, su disco con Dreams es un asco. Pasó de adolescente y joven prodigio musical, a falopero ex estrella.

Bajando las tonos de canciones como "Freak" después del2003 ya no dan ni ganas de escuchar desde ahí en adelante. Muchos grupos evolucionan, Pero aquí parece evolucionar mal. Una cosa es que Codplay o Radiohead manejen estilo marcado. Pero Silvrechair.. quizás en 20 años se valore sus últimos álbumes del grupo y de Daniel Solista
Nothing off Frogstomp.. Fair enough the band is sick of playing songs off that album but surely its about the fans who pay good coin to go to the show. I found that their setlists in the last few tours was like an evening at the theatre and not a rock show. Dan is a rock star, not a pop star hopefully he realizes that soon and gets the band back together.
