I actually learned so much from this! I recently had a friend help build my new PC but now I might try my hand at building the one for my parents. Thank you :)
You only need to bios update a 500 series AMD board for Ryzen 5000. X570 came out at the same time as 3000 and b550 came out a little later. Therefore already up to date. 300-400 series is where you probably would need to bios update.
From my experience, it's fairly common that a display won't be shown if you use a display port. By default, Motherboards (in my experience) default video for the bios screen from an HDMI. You'd have to change settings within the BIOS to have compatibility for Display port if you so wish.
Loved the carpal tunnel and arthritis question. I have both. Sometimes I have to take breaks while doing a job because my hands will hurt too much. I sleep with braces on my hands. And I had to stop working on phones, tablets, and some other jobs when it comes to customers because I started damaging things from my hands shaking and hurting while dealing with small cables and screws. Just one of the multiple reasons I am on disability.
As someone who’s never owned or built a PC, let alone ever used one (lifetime Mac user), this was an incredibly informative video. I’m planning to build my first PC, hopefully whenever the GPU shortages are sorted out and will be using this exact video as my instructions. Hopefully will be able to afford to build one soon! Sucks being poor but I’m just happy I finally found new employment after almost a year of nothing! Thanks Kyle!
So last week I spent 600 dollars at micro center when I was only trying to spend 400. With that said, I didn't want to pay someone 50 bucks to put my shit together, so I said fuck it and spent 4 hours researching and slowly taking apart and putting together. Ya boy got everything running perfect :)
this video is a perfect example as to why you should build your system outside the the case i.e. breadboard it. when i help someone build their first system i always make them do it that way first. It takes 30 to 60 minutes and heads off problems like this. Granted he had you there to help him figure it out. i just wish more youtubers would stress doing this especially for first time builders doing this by themselves.
That delay is the psu, i also use a phanteks amp psu. it has a reset function so when the hard switch is turned off or it gets unplugged the psu actually goes through a self reset and takes a little time to start up. totally normal.
Just wanted to say, "Thanks!" Due to finances, my last system had to last me a little over a decade. I recently built a new system, non-gaming; just every day use. But I was so out of practice... I watched several of these videos, got my courage back, and built my new system, that is working great and is definitely an upgrade from the old system. I added fans to the case for cooling, but need to go back and do some cable management. Again, thanks for these kinds of videos that help the old fuddy-duddies like me keep current.
You know I had the same video issue with my last system. Was an X99 with a 2080 super. I had been using display port previously. After going over everything about 5 or 6 times I decided to go buy an HDMI and try that as the last straw. Wham, the system had been fine all along. It's been years, but I think you had to select the display port for the card to use it. By default it would only output through the HDMI.
I just built my friend a pc in a Phanteks 300a and my god those things are amazing. For only 60$ you cant get better bang for the buck for a TG side panel case. Hearing Kyle compliment Phanteks cases is a dream come true

Hey Kyle, you should actually connect the GPU to the monitor using an HDMI Cable at least until you install the drivers...then you can simply swap the cables for a display port.
