- Casablanca (1942): Play it Sam, Play As Time Goes By, Ingrid Bergman, Humphrey Bogart, Frank Sinatra sings,
Ilsa: Play it once, Sam, for old times' sake.
Sam: I don't know what you mean, Miss Ilsa.
Ilsa: [whispered] Play it, Sam. Play As Time Goes By.
Sam: Why, I can't remember it, Miss Ilsa. I'm a little rusty on it.
Ilsa: I'll hum it for you. [Ilsa hums two bars. Sam starts to play] Sing it, Sam.
Sam: [singing] You must remember this
A kiss is just a kiss
A sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by.

As Time Goes By (A kiss is just a kiss) lyrics
You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
And when two lovers woo
They still say, "I love you"
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by
Moonlight and love songs
Never out of date
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate
Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
That no one can deny
it's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

Famous quotes
One of the lines most closely associated with the film - "Play it again, Sam" - is a misquotation. When Ilsa first enters the Café Americain, she spots Sam and asks him to "Play it once, Sam, for old times' sake." When he feigns ignorance, she responds, "Play it, Sam. Play 'As Time Goes By.'" Later that night, alone with Sam, Rick says, "You played it for her and you can play it for me," and "If she can stand it, I can! Play it!"
Rick's remark to Ilsa, "Here's looking at you, kid," is not in the draft screenplays, but has been attributed to something Bogart said to Bergman as he taught her poker between takes.

Casablanca is a 1942 American romantic drama film directed by Michael Curtiz, starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid, and featuring Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt, Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre. Set during World War II, it focuses on a man torn between, in the words of one character, love and virtue. He must choose between his love for a woman and helping her and her Czech Resistance leader husband escape from the Vichy-controlled Moroccan city of Casablanca to continue his fight against the Nazis.
Although it was an A-list film, with established stars and first-rate writers-Julius J. Epstein, Philip G. Epstein and Howard Koch received credit for the screenplay-no one involved with its production expected Casablanca to be anything out of the ordinary;[1] it was just one of dozens of pictures produced by Hollywood every year. The film was a solid, if unspectacular, success in its initial run, rushed into release to take advantage of the publicity from the Allied invasion of North Africa a few weeks earlier.[2] Despite a changing assortment of screenwriters frantically adapting an unstaged play and barely keeping ahead of production, and Bogart attempting his first romantic lead role, Casablanca won three Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Its characters, dialogue, and music have become iconic, and Casablanca has grown in popularity to the point that it now consistently ranks near the top of lists of the greatest films of all time.
There will never be another Ingrid Bergman. She is truly one of the GREATS in her craft. God Bless her.
Thank you Bella angel. She was one contrymen to mine, så beautiful and feminin. Regards from Sweden.
En español,por favor
"Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine." A movie classic that will easily live another 100 years and maybe even longer!
It's gonna get a 4k disc in November. This film will never be forgotten and will still be loved in 100,000 years from now.
It's as important now as it was 80 years ago. It's an absolutely perfect masterpiece of a film. Not one second is wasted. There are no filler scenes or cheesy dialogue.
glad tha new generation has discovered this
Such a nice movie
İndeed ❤
Yes, she was stunningly beautiful.
Is
I always thought Ingrid Bergman looked so beautiful yet so lost in reveries as the camera does a close up on her while Sam's singing.. Then Bogey bursts in, the music stops and you see the tears in her eyes.. Chokes me up and gives me chills each time I watch that scene..
❤
I love her!
Oh me too.
Ingrid Bergman, Greta Garbo, Audrey Hepburn, Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Barbara Stanwyck, Vivien Leigh, Grace Kelly, OMG so many many amazing beautiful classic actresses.
Poor Jayne, too. Wish she hadn’t gone out that way.
Brigitte Bardot, Claudia Cardinale, Gina Lollobrigida, Anita Ekberg, Hedy Lamarr, Priscilla Lane, Veronica Lake, Virna Lisi, Lauren Bacall, lana Turner. And many more... Love the 40 50 and 1960. FOREVER!!! ❤❤
also Catherine Deneuve and Jane Fonda ❤️
Why did I think Lauren Bacall was in this movie? I know I've watched this movie more than once?!
Love to the all beutifull talented amazing evergreen actors and actress of 1940, 50, 60❤
It would pass 200 years and people would be talking about this masterpiece, Casablanca is not only a movie, is a legend.
SI, ASSOLUTAMENTE..
Ingrid Bergman may have the most perfect smile ever.
HOW COULD A WOMAN BE AS BEAUTIFUL AS HER.WHAT A CLASSIC BEAUTY.
I've been asking that for the last 40 years.
Gene Tierney
Ingrid Bergman was hauntingly beautiful.
Ingrid Bergman was an absolute beauty with so much reading through her face. This movie was a true classic!
Watching this clip just shows how poor todays films are. No CGI or fancy effects. Great acting and cinematography. The way Ingrid Bergman features in that scene is mesmerising. They've moved so far from creating good films. Too many wannabee actors who don't come close to these legends and never will.
There's still plenty of great films and great actors.

This movie has more quotes than any other. Love them all. "Here's loking at you kid", We'll always have Paris", Round up the usual subjects. Looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Hill of beans, and a few more. And what emotions Bergman creates just with her eyes. I guess you can tell it is my favorite movie.
one of my favorite movies too, i love this song too
I have to admit that I love it too. One of the most quotable films ever
Weekly, several times a week, I sit at my keyboard and say, "Play it Sam, play as Time Goes By." Then of course I go off and play something else like Iris, or Skinny Love, but for that one small moment, I was there. I have Dooley's lyrics printed out and posted on the wall above where I play.
It is a perfect film, absolutely everything is just right.
My favourite is;
'The Germans wore grey, you wore blue'
The explanation is so simple. The fundamental thing. She was the one and only.
Love that movie.
Ingrid Bergman is truly one of the most stunning actresses to ever grace the earth.
Alluring...
Still the most beautiful woman who ever lived.
nordog55 %100 agree 👌

@@dani09eveline Sorry to burst your high opinion of yourself, but no... not even close. You're simply jealous because Ingrid was just naturally beautiful in her day.
Ingrid Bergman is exquisitely beautiful, unbelievable... A pinnacle in God's creation..
Most beautiful dress, jewelry, overall style in filmmaking history.
Her beauty is described as luminous. Very fitting I feel.

Never a woman with more honest beauty
A truly classic, Casablanca, I've watched it many times and always find it fresh and lovely.
Humprey Bogart, what an actor! He plays magnificently the tough, but also sensitive, guy.
And Ingrid Bergman, what else can we say about this great and beautiful actress?
When I saw the movie the firts time, I couldn't help falling in love with her.
She's the woman every man would like to marry.
This is a great, iconic movie about romance amidst extraordinary circumstances. It's a real classic, and a great song.
The world's best actors right there,,,
she is beautiful.
Even though Ingrid passed 16 years before I was born, I absolutely adore her work and can pretty much recite this scene without an issue. Dear Ingrid, thanks for blessing us with your wits, beauty, and wonderful work. I love me some Ingrid.

Parece que no pasaron los años, yo no había nacido aún fue en el 1946, pero la he visto muchas veces y ayn me sigue recordando lo magnífico de los sentimientos...❤
Ingrid Bergman. Any man will fall in love with her in a minute
Magnífica canción, de la película Casablanca con Humphrey Bogart e Ingrid Bergman
The greatest 1.25 minutes in movie history. To the actors of today this is true acting.

I remember as a teen listening to this song from the radio on our outside window sill as my Mother and I worked in our vegetable garden.❤❤
THEY MADE IT BELIEVABLE

Ingrid Bergman era lindíssima
This was played at my granddads funeral, one of his favourite films and songs. RIP
God rest his soul
The camera loved Ingrid she looks gorgeous in the stills of Casablanca.
Ingrid what an eternal beauty
It's a pity that time has gone forever........A time of beautiful women, dashing men, wonderful music and great films!
Not dashing men..day old men, it looks like a father having romance with his daughter...a hansome young boy should had been in the film opposite of that beautiful heroine along with this beautiful song
@@rahulbanerjee4181 😂 I know what you mean bud. I have always wondered that. Boggey was alway rugged and looked older than his years.
But my comment was for that era in general.😉
She's ridiculously stunning
I'll Never Love This Way Again
What a classic! Never tire of it, one of my first DVDs!
Sob....sob.....the most heart breaking scene ever. Nothing beats it.
"We'll always have Paris"
Je vous aime très fort ingrid bergman bon paradis courage ❤
This film, this song are timeless and so lovely and true. Thanks for posting Ingrid. She was so lovely.
I wasn't expecting the slide show on Ingred Bergman. Or old Blue Eyes singing her request!! What surprising pleasure!! Never, NEVER have I seen an actress with such depth of unmitigated, unadulterated, pure, deep expression showing on her face, from the simplest thought to the most profound emotions. That has stuck in my memory forever since the time first ever I saw her face on the screen...I always felt that her characters had a real, human internal world. She did just recite her lines and wait for the others to recite theirs. I would have loved to have seen her in a movie interacting with Marlon Brando....Missed her much.
OOOOOPS!! Just read my Oct. 6, 2014 post! CORRECTION: She did NOT just recite her lines....
Uma dos maiores momentos do cinema!!!!
My grandparents ❤ loved this xxxxoooo
If I could go back in time.....I would go back to the 40s-60s.....I envy those who saw those days. ☺️😊
...based on the romanticized version you see in the movies? Or because you like the entertainment products from that time period? For a LOT of people (i.e. non-whites, non-"straights" and non-males), that time period actually sucked quite a bit.
the time of war and hate ,
It was a painful time , A lot of darkness and dark souls lurked on the earth then. They are trying to come back now..... Trump is a lot like those leather coated vultures, wait and see.... He wants to do a Hitler economy thing right now.... make new nukes, weapons, jobs for folk making war material .What a waste of time.... Something is wrong again really wrong young ones... It will hurt
Pick a period and we'll always find hate and war. We're living in a very dark period. Was is everywhere and hate...
Sean - Donald Trump just wants to be famous and rich. None of that other stuff matters to him.
the best scene in the cinema history
Ingrid Bergman , the world needs woman like you
Sammy Davis Jr. does 22 impressions of this song in his Live in Australia 79 performance. Completely unmatched!!
So beautiful 🎉
The best movie of all time!
nordog55 Almost perfect
From when movies showed us thoughtfulness and not senseless slaughter. More emotion in her face from 0:38 to 0:60 than in a whole movie today, even thought she hardly moves.
Super Film. Ingrid bergman war eine gute Schauspielerin.
One of my favorite scenes ever
Quel chef d'œuvre...et quels acteurs..❤
When women were real natural beauties. Wow!
Magnífico bravo bravo bravo 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎶🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵🎵🇧🇷
This song, besides being very beautiful, is also VERY SAD... It will never be forgotten. BERGMAN has always been beautiful.
Total class............
Nice theme for an iconic movie I saw here, and the story is good and I liked it despite being made before my own time. But the quality of the actors, which perform their roles so well, one can believe it was possible, made it a very good film, and the song is very good also, sung in Sinatra´s outstanding voice.
she is a beautiful lady you cannot compart with today star
Como sea esa pareja es hermosa que actores, son demasiado ❤❤
The most beautiful woman of the world, ever.
Le temps s'est arrêté avec eux.
Rien comme avant 🤔⚘️
