Thanks so much I had struggled to get to grips with Cakewalk and, after watching no end of tutorial videos, I still couldn't do simple edits in a midi file downloaded from my keyboard. Your tutorial showed me the basic commands so I can get started doing simple things
i already thought of giving up learning and exploring cakewalk til i stumbled upon ur videos about it. thanks for sharing incredible videos, Bongonzo!! you are an inspiration 🥺✊
Brother, you just solved a lot of problems for me and you saved me a lot of time. Thank you. I am starting to use kacewalk and I was wasting a lot of time in certain parts and I was about to give up thanks I'm already subscribed I hope to see more videos about cakewalk I'll see the previous greetings.
dude. thank you so much for sharing. you go at bit quick at times because you've obviously used this so much it's second nature but I just rewinded. I'm starting into cakewalk again (one of the guys wants to get the band back together, lol) and I've forgotten alot of what I knew. Also, this was the 80s. we were using Dr T lol.I am really looking forward to working with Cakewalk. Thanks for the tips
This had lots of info that I needed to know. Up until now, I've almost completely done my sequencing using MIDI hardware, for which I used Master Tracks Pro. However, Master Tracks Pro cannot sequence software instruments, which means I now have to learn to sequence MIDI using CbyB. Thanks for the great info.
Very informative! It would be nice though if you could slow down your delivery a bit. It took me 4 tries to understand hold down the "T" key.I hope that is what I heard.
Great tutorial! Do you know of any plugin that will humanize MIDI files? Specifically something that will allow you to adjust the velocities globally. For example, all notes that land on beat one at 120, all notes on beat 3 at 100, all notes on beats 2 and 4 at 80, everything else at 60.
Great video!! Would love to learn how to route all drum notes in midi and then assign to any samples etc. Like Kick, snare, toms etc. Seems complicated. Maybe do a video on how to route and assign everything. Much appreciated.
Hey Bongonzo nice tutorial man, I'm transitioning between ableton to cakewalk since I decided that using a cracked version of ableton is not the best choice. I was having a bad time with midi in cakewalk but you helped me a lot! Do you know by any chance how to keep that Green marker still? When I click to add a new midi it goes together, or how can i send that market to the start so I can hear from the beginning of the midi clip? Thank you once again!
I loved your video, but I have a question tho. Do you know which MIDI controller is good to work with cakewalk? I'm really into novation MK3 but i still don't know if I'm going to buy it.
What i'm most confused about which there seems to be absolutely no videos about: Midi instruments are not the same as midi tracks. What are midi tracks for and how come third party downloaded midi tracks I have dont play or make any noise through the software? Do I just need to add the midi tracks to audio tracks and manually create them into midi for them to work? I even tried loading them into audio tracks and they still make no sound. Are they just bad midi tracks? Very confused.
Someone please help!!!!! So here's what I want to do. I copied a midi clip and pasted it on the same track. I edited some notes on the copy on piano roll but the original is also affected. is there a way I can make these copied clips act independent? and no they aren't linked. I performed just a simple copy paste.
So I bought a midi plugin for my keyboard to plug into my laptop for bandlab. I see there is an option for add midi so can I play a whole piece on my keyboard and it transfers into a midi track?
Shortcut for Transposition in Piano Roll View (PRV) Select notes you want to transpose Make Sure num lock is on Numpad 8 = tranpose up 1 semitone Numpad 2 - transpose down 1 st Ctrl + Numpad 8 = up 1 octave Ctrl + Numpad 2 = down 1 octave If numpad is off you can use 4 and 6 to change width of PRV, 8 and 2 to change height of PRV
Thanks for this! Can you tell me what screen capturing software you're using that lets you capture the audio from Cakewalk as well as the audio from your mic? Thanks!
I just downloaded Cakewalk. Where do you get your sounds (preferably free) from? I didn't know how to get a clap or hihat sound.. Also, mad props for putting out quality and consistent content! You're doing great and have perseverance :)
@@Bongonzo So I downloaded the drum kit. But I can't find any tutorials on how to add kits to Cakewalk? For example, I want to trigger one of the wav sounds via the external midi keyboard I have connected. Does that make sense?
Hey bro ur vedios are really help ful as i started to create my music recently it helps a lot to me.... but many people say that thing which can be done on fl studio cannot be done on cakewalk is that true....is fl studio needed to make high class music or this can be done on cakewalk
No, Sonar works (aka cakewalk's original realease name) was an one of the best daws in the early 2000s. literally it was like 600$ and was the most popular. Later, the company that owned Sonar went out of business and Bandlab bought it up and called it cakewalk. Cakewalk has everything that you could possibly need. If you think that the workflow of fl is better by all means, spend the 300$ but for now. Take advantage of the rediculously powerful tool that litterally everyone has at their fingertips.
I'm looking for the part where you import a midi file, that has all the instruments in one track. Drums, bass, guitar, trombone, clavinet..whatever. THEN- split them into their own tracks so you can deal with them.
that's the best midi / piano roll tutorial I've ever seen. Nice job BonGonzo :-)
Glad you like it!
PS -- I've been using Cakewalk Sonar (which is the exact same program) for 21 years. I know what I'm talking about :-)
Super helpful! Other tutorials were not helpful in helping me connect my midi keyboard for the first time, but this one was perfect.
bro... this was a really good tutorial!!! how does this not have more views???
thanks man (:

So fun watching you at work. Very informative as well. I keep picking up simple stuff about the controls. Keyboard shortcuts make such an easy flow.

Hi Bogonzo, it´s time for the second episode!!! :-)
Great stuff!
What shoudl be in the next one?
Great tutorial it’s very thorough and just seeing you demonstrate makes it that much more understandable ☺️👏🏽
Thanks bro

Wow very informative video brother, i was confused in many things. Your video really helped. Thanks a lot bro, love from India ♥️

I haven't been able to perfect it but look up things around using ACT in Cakewalk
Thank you so much i love you to the moon and back

How to get the tab/panel on the right side for the scale snap?
Loving it thanks so much for sharing!!

When I copy and paste or do the drag method as you showed I cant hear the pasted notes. I can only hear the original recording. Please help!!!
Can I use the akai mini in cakewalk
Thanks my friend.. I learned a lot of things...
Glad to hear that
What instrument plugin do you use for drums when i try to do the hi hat rolls and different pitched hats on satila it doesnt work on piano roll
Bro help me im strugglin to get my drums into piano roll, dont know how to do It, and thank you for making content🙏
You need a sampler. Watch my video called how to pitch 808s and high hats in cakewalk by bandlab

Hit w on your keyboard to turn the green marker to the beginning

Having trouble getting saffire 6 to mdi out to CW by BL Signal from keyboard to saffire o.k. but it's not reaching CW...or Bandlab. ???
I have never used an audio interface but maybe think about changing your audio driver
Great tips man .. Thanks for this 👏
No problem 👍
Thank you your a god
Nah not a god but thanks
I loved your video, but I have a question tho. Do you know which MIDI controller is good to work with cakewalk? I'm really into novation MK3 but i still don't know if I'm going to buy it.
I have used AKAI MPK mini mk3 and M-Audio keystation with Cakewalk. There's no reason why a Novation controller would not work.
Brilliant 👍

Yep, that is how it works. I am not sure what you are asking
@@Bongonzo Basically if I can plug in my keyboard and I play it and midi notes I can see in cakewalk.
How can do one click chord in piano roll
I dont think you can
@@Bongonzo ok, thanks
How do you import your twitch en sounds to be accessible on the piano roll?
? twitch en sounds?
@@Bongonzo sorry I meant midi sounds 💀
Can anyone help, I dont have any instruments on my pc
check my video on how to pitch 808s and high hats in cakewalk by bandlab.
@@Bongonzo ok thank you
how do i make my piano roll view scale larger like you?
hit Shift D to make it full screen
Shortcut for Transposition in Piano Roll View (PRV)
Select notes you want to transpose
Make Sure num lock is on
Numpad 8 = tranpose up 1 semitone
Numpad 2 - transpose down 1 st
Ctrl + Numpad 8 = up 1 octave
Ctrl + Numpad 2 = down 1 octave
If numpad is off you can use 4 and 6 to change width of PRV, 8 and 2 to change height of PRV
Yeah but my video on that topic can actually show you how to transpose in the other views besides piano view
Nice Video dude 👍🏻
thanks dude (:

Try out "mike zara's drum kit" type that into google and you will find a reddit link. Those are free and super high quality.

yes
I know how to play the piano old school, and I thought you were going to use your physical keyboard along with the software to compose.
haha. I wish

Like to know notes gliding and portamento
there sadly isn't portamento in cakewalk

WAAYYYYY to damned fast for a new person to learn anything. I have to constantly stop, rewind and resume to even come close to staying up. 😞
