    I made these for the first time and doubled the recipe. They are amazingly delicious and smell so good! A double batch made about 50 waffles in my mini round waffle maker. We froze them. So happy to find this recipe. No sugar needed. They have a sweet taste without it.

    I had some discard and decided to give this recipe a try. It is DELICIOUS. I threw in chocolate chips on a few for breakfast and hubs used 2 plain ones to make a ham and mozzarella sandwich. Definitely a keeper. I also use discard to make crumpets, which we all love.

    Well, it has taken me about a year (since I discovered your recipe) to make these. Never too late, I always say. I used the batter for pancakes, and I can say these are possibly the best I have ever made. Like you, for this mix I had just under a 1/2 cup of starter, so I backed off a little on the other ingredients - I think I got it just about right. I had two big ones, and now there is a short stack going into the freezer! Toaster Pancakes.. Mmm. Thanks for sharing.

      @ritaloy8338
      Hi @ritaloy and TrueFoodTV - I've been searching all these comments to see if there is a way to just make the discard. I don't want to make sourdough bread bc I'm Type 1 diabetic and I have to limit my intake of carbs. However, I love waffles and on occasion, I love treating myself bc I'm obsessed with a good waffle. It's heaven on earth to me!! So I know i won't want to make and feed a sourdough culture just to get a discard to make waffle. I have been combing through all the comments here to see if you can get around making a discard to make an amazing waffle on occassion. Ritaloy, I loved what you said about using buttermilk to make a great waffle instead of going through all the bother of making and feeding a sourdough to get to the discard. Would you be able to share your recipe for buttermilk waffles? And @TrueFoodTV, I love your channel and detailed descriprions and have subscribed to you both. I've been searching for years for a waffle recipe with a crisp exterior and a fluffy interior. The contrast of the two, like when you walk on icy snow with the crunch to the soft snow beneath - that texture is a divine and religious experience for me! But it's almost impossible to get on a home grill that doesn't heat up high enough unless you do sourdough and feed it for the rare occassion i just want a divine waffle bc as a diabetic, i dont get the occassion to be able to get decadent often. But on rare occassions, like a cold winter weekend when your heart is yearning for that divine comfort, i have yet to find a waffle recipe that duplicates that texture. Would you be willinging to share that buttermilk recipe with me? I appeal to you both for any ideas!! Cooking is science. And there is nothing more creative than knowing the science and then using that knowledge to manipulate it to stretch the boundaries of creativity!! I would be so grateful to you both ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
