Having said that I haven't heard of one 8HP70 failure regardless of what power adders are installed. I'm hoping all stays well for you and keeps up with the added power in the long run. Oh and to the best of my knowledge the crank in the 392's is forged, unfortunately the rods and pistons are not. Good luck sir and have a ball!!!
Thank you! Yeah from what I understand these transmissions are really really smart. As soon as they sense slip they’ll cut power. The transmission works in concert with the engine to make sure it doesn’t fail, it can tell the engine to stop if it’s hurting it. So when the trans starts to slip it cuts power. Which just means that the trans will never break howerver it does get hurt and will keep cutting power slowing the car down to save itself. It’s when tuners mess with the transmission torque management that it breaks. You want to adjust the torque management to make it not cut lower but then it can’t save itself so only then does it break. So in a sense it’s bulletproof and also in a sense it sucks. But that’s why you never hear about them breaking. The HP90 can handle more torque so it take more power before it screams for help. But at my power level it’s supposed to be fine.
@hqen2000 and @jettech1966 im not sure what you guys have been following but these HP70 break all the time. Bad thing is it doesnt warn you when its damaged. Under regular driving and small power adders like a cam or something they will be just fine but once you go boost its only a matter of time. Call up Paramount and Southern Hot Rod they will tell you. Get the facts from the guys whos actually doing the work to these cars. The transmission wont cut power or pull timing im not sure who told you that lie because thats not the truth. The trans will just start slipping when it cant take anymore abuse. It wil take it then it will just start slipping. Its only rated for 500+ torque thats it.
@Hqen2000 yea man call SHR they are cool as fuck. I went to there shop personally and talked to the owner and they gave me a tour. Cool guys and honest. I work offshore and i to pass by there shop anyway so i made a stop and chopped it up with them. Some tuners are getting credits from Dodge and they are tuning the TCM. The transmission has its on separate computer. No one has mastered that yet and the software from HP tuners is still in Beta Form.
10k is mighty steep for the average man so a 2k Nitrous & Tune install makes more sense. Your numbers are sweet be safe good luck on your new motor setup.
I'm glad you made the video. I was thinking the same thing. Dollar for HP ratio and I came up with the same conclusion....to procharge my 16 Challenger scatpack. Roughly around the same cost. I'm getting back close to 8K in taxes this year and wanted to do something. Everyone was telling me, baby steps...Cam, air intake, ...blah, blah, blah. It negates your warranty though right? I bought mine in the beginning of 2016, so I only have 23K miles on it. I have a good trust worthy mechanic that is a friend that can do work on it if needed, but it still scares me if some shit breaks down after the blower. Oh, and did the shop warranty their work for a certain amount of miles? I want to find a good shop to do this. I live in Vegas, and I think i'll have to go to Cali to get it done. Not a lot of great shops here. Houston seems a little far for me, it would add another couple grand for transport cost. lol and no offense, but now I feel like I need to wait to see if you post a "Blew my motor" video. Cuz everyone including my mechanic friend is telling me not to do it, That this NA 6.4 is made to stay NA. I'm just really hesitant to pull the trigger on this I guess.
Yeah it’s for sure a possibility. If you don’t want to pull the trigger just yet you can just watch me do it and see if it blows up. I’ve been pretty transparent about everything. So you’ll all know if it actually has a problem
they say you can go safely with a procharger p1sc or p1x on stock internals, but idk how much you can trust a procharger rep. I'm still gonna do it, they say safely is 7lbs but you'll need a good tune or the engine blows
I do have to agree with the wife I've seen plenty of procharger vids and that whistle at idle does sound like something is wrong but definitely worth it when you have an extra 200hp. I'm subbing because every scat i see with a blower runs into problems so i really wanna see if i should go this route over a cat.
You can put the gauges in the change area in your dash, I rigged my pillar and my diablisport so I don't have the cord in my way:D but I've also basically torn down and rebuilt this car. 3 times now xD
Hqen2000 be extremely careful, those clips on the pillars are REEEALLLY fragile. Broke both of mine while doing my dash speakers, shoved them back in cause why bother anymore lol
Nice lots of horse power look neat under your hood the numbers were nice to I think I go with Eldebrock super charger. Got friend with one. It. Bad ass
I'd race you if my car was still in the country. I give you a few weeks until you are completely use to it and want more power, trust me it gets addicting lol
Do yourself a favor and get it retuned by Alex Peitz at Peitz performance in Katy. He was the first one to crack the hellcat ecm and used to work at shp. I had another shop do that is install and tune on mine and ran like shit until Alex did the tune and ran 100 times better and had no start issues. Dodge platforms are different than any other out there so if you don’t do them a lot the tune will be sub-par
That makes sense. Let me take it back to SHP then see what they can do. I’m gonna give them another chance but if it’s still messing up I might need to take t somewhere else
Dude love the videos congrats on the blower but it should start perfectly fine take it back and get it tuned some more it makes no boost at idle to 1300
I have A 2014 Charger SRT8. Can I add a Whipple or Pro Charger safely if the work is done right ?? What about Cam, Headers, Throttle upgrade, 440 cube short block on top of a Whipple ??? I'm lost and Google making it worse ? LOL. What must I do to do the Job 100 % Correct ????
Hqen2000 the procharger is a great power adder. I'm running a procharger F1r on a 2011 mustang gt that is making 942 rwhp on 93 octane and I love the sound. I would get a set of long tube headers and have the shop swap out your top pulley with a smaller one for more boost.Look around on the forums to find out what your stock bottom end will hold and go from there. As far as the starting issue I would take the car back to the shop and show them what happened. At least you have the proof.
True. 942whp wow engine built I assume? I had an 11 GT also. I bought it in 2010 one of the first to get it. An amazing car. Back in 2010 it was crazy fast compared to the competition. Right now I just wanna leave the car as it is and enjoy the power it’s so new that I really don’t desire more power... yet.. lol
@Hqen2000 and @Jonathan Quao its supposed to sound like that at idle. If you would have spent a couple more hundred dollars you could have got the Helical Gear option. They probably forgot to tell you about that option when you bought it. The Helical Gear is super quiet and it wouldn't have sounded like that. You can only get the Helical Gearing on the P1 and D1. Not sure if its avaible for the new P1X and D1X and its not a option on the big dog F series blowers.
bad thing about cylinder deactivation is you burn oil and, and can mess with your valve train, ive seen it on so many chevy cars while working at the dealership. but great car and set up man, keep the videos coming
it can cause the motor to burn oil, and ive seen it mess up valve springs and top end stuff, that's why a lot of people get a tune so it cant turn off deactivation...this is coming from a guy that works on gm cars dodge vehicles may not have this problem but they both use similar technology. so just a heads up I would recommend you tune out the deactivation cylinder
yeah just do your research, you can look up GM threads and see its a common problem and the top end goes bad very often, I just don't want to see that happen to your car, after you put so much work in to it
Nice work. My goal is to buy one or the other for my birthday in June. Can someone answer this.. Just trying to understand what's the main reason to buy the srt8 392 or the r/t scat pack 392. Or a used 2016 hell cat I to have plans on putting a super charger on either one I get unless I get the hell cat Currently driving 2011 300c 2013 tundra and 72 cutlas...time for a charger. Thanks
No I don’t... I need to go to some. I have a few years back when I had my mustang I went to bombshells and stuff. Maybe hit me up and let me know what’s going on.
Without upgraded pistons and other components no more than 6% without risking cracking the ring lands on the pistons. The stock 392 comes with extremely thin ring lands and that's why they are notorious for not handling boost due to cracking when you increase the compression by adding boost.
Great video brother! You seem like a really humbled man. A lot of great info from your video just wanted to say thank you. O one thing before I go did you get a ceramic coat on the paint or plan on getting that done?
Correct replaces the entire pillar and has a bottom section for the tweeter that the Mustangs have. The A-Pillar really is the way to go, it's visable but not obtrusive like that setup you have right now. I also have Uniden R3 lol, love my radar detector. I spent a total of right at 8,000 for my Kenne Bell 3.2L, boost a pump, 47# injectors, new spark plugs and dyno tune/install. I put a video in my channel, you can see the difference in sound. I am in Afghan now but will get a ton more videos I bought the car for 33k and put another 15k in it so far, cosmetic and supercharger setup.
Holy shit after looking at your Dyno sheet I was like let me check my curve on the video I posted, and it is almost instant power.. No wonder my car is hard as fuk to control, damn power comes in at 2500 RPMs lolol, yours hits at 4500, I was like no way mine is instant but yup you were right.
Add me and send me a msg on IG I’d be curious how yours is. I didn’t want that instant power I felt like it would make it a more difficult daily and end up putting more strain on the motor
Elaborate.... I study crash tests of every car. If you watch my channel I bring it up quite a lot. The Charger / Challenger / 300 is a decently safe platform. It's not the safest ever. But I'm not sure what you are comparing it to. I even went with the truck I did because it did well in crash tests and clearly had a safer design. I bought a Tesla Model 3 partially because of its very safe design. Outside thin metal isn't what keeps you alive in a crash...
Hey Hqen2000. I have an MMX cam in my car. Gas mileage dropped 2 mpg after deleting MDS which is hardly noticeable at all. What is noticeable though, is the sound and the power. You have to remember...under boost, the supporting mods become bigger power adders. Now that you're boosted you should strongly consider forging your engine and adding blower cam w/headers to help your engine flow. At the very least, look at forged pistons and rods. You're also going to need to start looking at beefing up your transmission. The HP70 isn't rated for that level of power. Better to do it sooner. If you burn it up, you will have to buy a core + the cost to get it upgraded. Beautiful car btw. I'll be going F1A in a week once the rest of the parts get here. ua-cam.com/video/LbA6VmOGZJc/v-deo.html
He can go threw Southern Hot Rod for a Trans and they dont require a core charge. You just send your transmission in and they beef it up and thats even if you have messed up all the clutches. Paramount has a core charge but they really been fucking ppl trans up left and right and they have 0 warranty on there Trans and TC's. Southern Hot Rod has a year warranty on there transmissions. That white Charger that was in his last video at the shop is pushing a SHR trans and hes over 800+ to the wheels.
Once Boost kicked-in on the pull you did, it sounded Bad ass.. Hey did the shop give you back the OEM injectors and Fuel pump? Hope you race someone soon so we can view your winning videos..
Hqen2000 430 is a nice number. I had a few boosted cars and would never own one without water meth injection. Its best mod money can buy in forced induction. Snow performance was my choice
Yeah but it’s a pain in the ass. Then you have to worry about the stupid nozzle clogging and have all sorts of safeguards, keep the tanks full and worry about if they aren’t. I just want to be able to drive it like a car and not mess with everything
So I'm thinking about trading in my challenger rt 5.7 for a procharged Daytona charger 2016, my main concern is does adding that supercharger void any warranty work?
I'm not sure what to do. Get a Hellcat or a Scat Pack? I feel like the Hellcat is just near 20k more and it seems the Scat Pack is just as competitive with some mods. Any advice?
Did you get a scat or a hellcat or something else? I have a Daytona 392 and it will cost about $20k for a supercharger, tuning, MMX blower cam and pistons to get you over a hellcat power with reliability, in my opinion I’d rather build it if I had the money but I would also like to have reliability in an already forged hellcat 6.2 so it’s a tough decision in my mind, now that I have the Daytona 392 I’d much rather have gotten the hellcat 100%
@@bobsaget3044 well this aged lol. I ended up getting a 2018 Scat Pack in Indigo Blue and I love it. I don't think I would want more power; not now at least. I'm more interested in building a car over years and ultimately it'll result in me putting a Whipple or something like that in it. But for now, I'm happy with it and it's almost paid off!
@@kylerebman5094 awesome man, I’m kinda in the same boat as far as almost paid off goes and on the fence about building and getting a magnuson blower or a procharger or trading up for a WB hellcat or one of the future models such as hellcat Pacifica lol or a nitrogen powered hellcat, Probably going to cost an arm and a leg for one of those though! Hey man keep me posted on how you like it down the road. im thinking about putting forged rods and pistons then getting a whipple. Im just wondering if the stock 6.4 can handle the boost. I would just get a tune if the car still has the problems in the start up. Great video man!
Hqen2000 oh and if you were in Miami I’d let you test drive my hellcat charger. Total different animal from the transmission, power and all compared to a 392.

Ill call them and talk to them
@Hqen2000 yea man call SHR they are cool as fuck.
Yeah maybe I could take them the car and have it swapped. I’m in Houston so not super far
10k is mighty steep for the average man so a 2k Nitrous & Tune install makes more sense. Your numbers are sweet be safe good luck on your new motor setup.
I’m the average man
You should race rp productions
I agree
How is this car holding up today? Engine? Transmission?
they say you can go safely with a procharger p1sc or p1x on stock internals, but idk how much you can trust a procharger rep. I'm still gonna do it, they say safely is 7lbs but you'll need a good tune or the engine blows
Headers should help breathe better plus should benefit from the blower.id be scared to jump straight into a blower with no cooling or supporting mods
You are a very good dude if I lived in Texas I'll race you and you are one of my favorite UA-camrs
I do have to agree with the wife I've seen plenty of procharger vids and that whistle at idle does sound like something is wrong but definitely worth it when you have an extra 200hp. I'm subbing because every scat i see with a blower runs into problems so i really wanna see if i should go this route over a cat.
Lol yeah we will see. I’ve heard the same that they blow up engines and everything so we will see
Get the Cat.
Hqen2000 best of luck to ya!
BobbyK Im leaning that way for sure
My brother has a pro charged camaro , that he bought from a dealer that was a sema car and it whistles like that
Nice numbers sir. My Hellcat makes 667 stock so you are right up there for probably $20k less out of pocket.
Yeah. Except you have a warranty and magnetic ride, bigger brakes, etc. and a lil more power
You can put the gauges in the change area in your dash, I rigged my pillar and my diablisport so I don't have the cord in my way:D but I've also basically torn down and rebuilt this car. 3 times now xD
Yeah I keep meaning to hardware the radar. I’ve been lazy.
Hqen2000 be extremely careful, those clips on the pillars are REEEALLLY fragile. Broke both of mine while doing my dash speakers, shoved them back in cause why bother anymore lol
I had the same problem with my car not starting like yours did and I put a mini starter high-torque in it and my car is also supercharged
Mini starter? What’s that
How many pounds of boost are you running without forged internals?
Might want to consider doing a dyno tune - get it precisely dialed in.
It was dyno tuned. Made 630whp
Hqen2000 wow! Outstanding!
When I think of modern reliability, most Chrysler products don't come to mind.
very very excellent videos my friend you do a super job nice vehicle
How did your transmission and engine hold up? I’m trying to get some info on going this route.
I read the Thumbnail in Doms voice
You are reading it correctly then lol
Hqen2000 got a new subscriber as well!!
Thanks.
Great channel and can’t wait to see you link up with @rpproductions
I’ll probably have to call him out right?
Hqen2000 hahaha don’t be live up in Houston? I might be moving back to Texas....
Yeah he’s in Houston too but far from me. Would be easy to link up though
Nice lots of horse power look neat under your
hood the numbers were nice to I think I go with Eldebrock super charger. Got friend with one. It. Bad ass
At what RPM when boost kick in? Congratulations and enjoy...ride safe.
I'd race you if my car was still in the country. I give you a few weeks until you are completely use to it and want more power, trust me it gets addicting lol
What kind of boost gauges is that above the rear view mirror they are sweet
AEM. It looks cool but it’s kinda in the way. I think I’m getting used to it though
If he worked for SHP before wouldn’t it be easier to just have SHP fix it? That’s where he was taught it sounds like
Hqen2000 he wasn’t taught there he actually was the one to write hp tuners book. Up to you just trying to help you out
That makes sense. Let me take it back to SHP then see what they can do. I’m gonna give them another chance but if it’s still messing up I might need to take t somewhere else
Dude love the videos congrats on the blower but it should start perfectly fine take it back and get it tuned some more it makes no boost at idle to 1300
Love the vids! Wife gave the ok to trade her Kia on a scat pack this weekend so the hunt starts!!!
That explanation makes a lot of since for power i like that
Awesome built!
I'm gonna have to agree with your wife it does sound broken. Maybe in the future if it's possible to do a whipple charger to get that whine?
Nah I think it sound normal for a procharger. I don’t really want a screw type I like how the procharger drives like stock at low rpms.
Maybe if anyone else with a procharger can chime in a verify it sounds ‘Normal’ for a procharger
Is the cylinder deactivation bad for the motor? What can it mess up?
it can cause the motor to burn oil, and ive seen it mess up valve springs and top end stuff, that's why a lot of people get a tune so it cant turn off deactivation...this is coming from a guy that works on gm cars dodge vehicles may not have this problem but they both use similar technology. so just a heads up I would recommend you tune out the deactivation cylinder
I can just put it in sport which turns it off... but I’d want to be sure before I drop my mpg like that
yeah just do your research, you can look up GM threads and see its a common problem and the top end goes bad very often, I just don't want to see that happen to your car, after you put so much work in to it
Thanks
Thanks
Trev's Sky bang for your buck will be a scat and SC it... maybe spend 50k with the SC and put out Hellcat #s.
Second video I've watched of yours, love the car and the Procharger! Was that a ACU patrol cap on your floor?
Yes. I’m no military though
Not
Might be a stupid question but why does it have the R/T logo in the back instead of the bee?
Did you have to do anything else to the bottom end of pistons
you ever go out to any meets? never seen your car around the houston area meets
No I don’t... I need to go to some. I have a few years back when I had my mustang I went to bombshells and stuff. Maybe hit me up and let me know what’s going on.
if you have a facebook join the group called Houston Top Ten. has around 17k members and there's meets posted on there pretty much everyday.
I’m on there already.
I got a 17’ Camaro RS procharged & I made 526 to the wheels
Very nice!
How safe is this on the a stock 392? How much boost can it safely handle?
Without upgraded pistons and other components no more than 6% without risking cracking the ring lands on the pistons. The stock 392 comes with extremely thin ring lands and that's why they are notorious for not handling boost due to cracking when you increase the compression by adding boost.
Hey I just purchased a 16 scatpack I was trying to find out what upgrades I could do with still having my warranty
I saw the dyno had the Houston address
So adding a supercharger would you need to change valves? Springs? Pistons? Rods?
you either change them the same time you get supercharger or you change them later ,the choice is yours
procharger says no on stock internals, but it's always safe i think to do rods and pistons
Great video brother! You seem like a really humbled man. A lot of great info from your video just wanted to say thank you. O one thing before I go did you get a ceramic coat on the paint or plan on getting that done?
Does it protect against rock chips and stuff? I was a little worried about that. Driving 3,000 miles my front end would be FK
Do you not have forged internals?
I wonder if it's making 630 to the wheels will it break 700 wheel with full exhaust , edelbrok intake and 92mm throttle body tuned for e85?
Probably. But 700whp is too much for the motor.
but what about a Tune with a Blower.. So just slap on and hope for the best?
A mini starter is smaller than the average starter can you get more cranking amps out of them what year is your car
2017.. interesting
Someone who actually puts the money to use when I get my Scat Pack i wanna whipple it
👍🏿
That start is weird, my GT has never started like that. I bought 2 gauges, Air / Fuel, Boost, and I put them on the A-Pillar in a 2 Gauge pod.
Does the pod replace the entire pillar?
It's a heavy car, but thin metal on the outside. Love the Hemi's but honestly wouldn't feel safe even in stock power.
Update us on the hesitating start my charger does the same shit and I'm curious
Is yours supercharged too? I’ll get an answer from my shop
love the color.
Throw a stock Hellcat cam on it .. stock blower cam is a plus
Does it fit? That would be cool but it would be pretty expensive. Since our cams have the MdS thing
Your car may be messy but it has a nice idle
Show a picture of the engine Bay please
Is the motor still standing .!? 🧐 or did it blow up
Still running good
Are you worried about the stock internals? I’m about to pull the trigger on either a cam or a Procharger, but I’m worried about the stock valves.
Or potentially blowing a gasket ****
Awesome video and great breakdown of the hp per dollar. I am going D1SC procharger in my 01 camaro SS
Also how much boost are you running
Like 8 psi at the top right before redline
Awesome are you running a p1sc or d1sc ?
V W preach!!!!
The shop said I don’t have to. I’m trying to see what actually happens. Not just what the internet says. I don’t think it’ll blow up
How much boost are you running on this setup? 7-7.5lbs?
I think it hits in the 8s at the highest rpm
He can go threw Southern Hot Rod for a Trans and they dont require a core charge. You just send your transmission in and they beef it up and thats even if you have messed up all the clutches. Paramount has a core charge but they really been fucking ppl trans up left and right and they have 0 warranty on there Trans and TC's. Southern Hot Rod has a year warranty on there transmissions. That white Charger that was in his last video at the shop is pushing a SHR trans and hes over 800+ to the wheels.
What police scanner are you running
Once Boost kicked-in on the pull you did, it sounded Bad ass.. Hey did the shop give you back the OEM injectors and Fuel pump? Hope you race someone soon so we can view your winning videos..
Or losing videos lol. No it’s been raining since I picked it up 😞
what made you pick a pro charger over Whipple?
I wanted less low end to make the car more suitable for daily driving.
Why ad more horsepower just to drive it locally? I’m under the assumption that guys do it to run in the 1/4 mile🤔
nice build. the car shouldnt struggle to start or idle rough. its all in the tune man, easy fix
Yeah I’m gonna be taking it back to my tuner...
You did the right thing. The supercharger is the best investment. Did they do a baseline dyno? I do hope you have water methanol injection btw lol
No meth injection. Just running 93. They did a baseline pull it made like 430whp
Hqen2000 oh nooo lol. I never tune for water. Meaning i dont add any extra spark advance. All its there for is cooling the combustion chamber.
So just a small amount? Not for octane boost?
That startup tho..
I know.. not good. :( I emailed Serious HP about it. I’ll probably need to take it back in
So I'm thinking about trading in my challenger rt 5.7 for a procharged Daytona charger 2016, my main concern is does adding that supercharger void any warranty work?
Yes it does
which BOV are you running? the Race or standard
Question which kit did you get and was that total installed...?
It most definitely should not be starting like that. Hopefully they fix that.
I’m still in debate like I said though!
@@bobsaget3044 I hear you, I got a new job recently too and it's so tempting to trade in for a Hellcat, but I'm trying to keep my priorities in order 😭. Best of luck to you with whatever you choose to do 🤙🏻
@@kylerebman5094 same to you man, thanks!
Hey man keep me posted on how you like it down the road. im thinking about putting forged rods and pistons then getting a whipple. Im just wondering if the stock 6.4 can handle the boost. I would just get a tune if the car still has the problems in the start up. Great video man!
Thanks! It has a custom tune from Serious HP I think they just need to refine it a bit. Probably running too rich.
There’s a reason why the hellcats are 6.2L supercharged. I agree with Dylan Donges. Go forged to be on the safe side.
Hqen2000 oh and if you were in Miami I’d let you test drive my hellcat charger. Total different animal from the transmission, power and all compared to a 392.
But what if i don’t need to
You drove both?
What should I do to my charger scatpack should I get the supercharge or procharger
muhammad209 Vortech is a safer set up with stock internals but if you go with proper Forged internals you can use whatever you want. Contact Modern Muscle Extreme MMX they know what to use and get you. Plan on spending a lot.
10k? Why not just get a hellcat?
Yeah. But does it run well in low rpm?
Very well. That’s one of the reasons I went with procharger I didn’t want too much Low end. Don’t need a burnout machine.
what shop did the install and tune? and where did you get the procharger kit?
Serious HP in Houston, They did everything. Install + Tune
did you get the check engine light fixed??
You added the pro-charger without any internal Mods? I have heard the stock 392 cant handle more than 6 pounds of boost
Some say it can some say it can’t. So we’ll have to see... my shop says it can.
OK cool love the video and information. I want to Pro-charge my Scat badly but saving kids first lol and have you done the mid-muffler delete? that was my first Mod and was the best 95 bucks i have spent on the car, great sound and with the active exhaust its not to loud
And yeah it should not start like like that should be smooth all the time, probably tune issue
