The one car that stayed true to its roots. The Mustang and Camaro have morphed into sports cars whereas the Mopar has remained as a muscle car and is the best daily driver in terms of room and comfort. All three are nice vehicles.
I am a BIG & TALL GUY and after 30 years of driving Mustangs, I am NOW driving a 2020 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Widebody and my very 1st AUTOMATIC transmission and I LOVE the roominess, the power, the sound and the WIDEBODY for me is a MUST on mountain freeways in the west - NOTHING handles like this car.
Believe in yourself! I’ve been looking at the charger scatpacks ever since it came out and I finally got one in 2018. Just gotta persevere, get a decent job, and get one of these!
This comment broke my heart man, dont ever talk down on yourself, I used to be broke until I got off my lazyads and got a job and now I have a 2020 charger sxt, it might not be a v8 but I fucking love my car, I worked hard for it, believe in yourself little brother and go chase that mf dream of yours...YOU GOT THIS !!! 😎 Much love and keep your head up
I was driving a 2.0 Fusion , loved the car but I got lucky , found a 2016 scat B5 blue 392 with many options for 29g, no dealer prep since they just took it in trade and wasn’t in there inventory yet, I negotiated the deal that day and got one hell of a deal this 2016 had 25,000 miles and the dealer did detail it like any trade ins, 29 grand for a 3+ yr old beauty was a great choice for me , lotsa fun I’m 66 yrs old and don’t miss my Fusion.
I've owned a 5.7 RT, two 392 Scats and two Hellcats. The Scat 392's felt more fun to daily drive around town because of the low end torque. Right off idle it wil spin the tires so easily. It was all jumpy torque around town which makes it a fun car to drive! The Hellcats will do it too obviously, but the naturally aspirated power of the 392 comes on differently.
I’m mostly a mustang guy, but I like how he never puts either brand down. Scats are a really nice car. Like the video and how you don’t just try and get buyers into mopar. I truly think each car is unique in there own way!
6 months into ownership on my ‘19 392 Charger and I still get a thrill every time I push the start button. I just wish it would remember the last drive mode after starting, I always drive it in track mode because of the beautiful sound that it makes. Im sure my neighbors love that sound at 7am too. Haha
I just store my favorite drive mode under the custom setting and after starting my car U double tap the SRT button (SRT 392) and it goes straight to it. Same thing probably works with the Scat but the SRT button has a different word on it in the Scat.
2020 scatpack owner and I love it. I had an 06’ R/T and it’s night and day between the two. If anyone is on the fence about buying a scatpack....just do it lol.
@@rucedxbox my color is the sinomin stick Color. From my understanding there aren't to many 1320 packages in this color. I also have a sun roof. And the Alpine stereo system. With a sub woofer
@@rucedxbox I still have to get that sto n sho plate holder. I've been looking for the trunk stripes that have the 1320 logo at the end. Did you put in the oil catch can and if you did what one did you get ?
I just traded in my 2020 Charger R/T for a 2022 Charger ScatPack 392. All I can say is WOW. The MOPAR engineers must have come over from the aerospace industry because the vehicle is so sophisticated and such a performer. I might add mine isn't fully broken in yet but I'm getting better gas mileage on the hwy (30 MPG) than what the book says and my performance page says best launch 0-60 is 3.9 seconds. Very comfortable, easy handling, super cold A/C, amazing sound system and you can whisper inside at 80+. By the way be careful pulling up to a parking block. If you hit the air dam too hard it triggers the check engine light. The air dam is controlled by two electric actuators that adjusts dynamic air flow to the radiator based upon outside air temperature. It will be a sad day when the battery powered Dodge comes out in 2024.
Litterally watching this channel made me trade in my tundra for a 16 challenger scat pack the nicest vehicle I owned every time i push the button to start the beast it makes me smile !
I bought my Challenger RT SP 392 WB in Octane Red in May 2019. I've just loved it over the past year. My wife tells me to never get rid of it because she loves it too. In Ontario Canada, the insurance is pretty low, a lot lower than the Hellcat, because the 392 with automatic transmission in eco mode will automatically switch to 4-cyl mode on the highway. It drones a bit in 4-cyl mode but not bad and it doesn't bother me if I have the tunes cranked. It pops back to full 8-cyl immediately if you hit it. There's no 1 to 2 second lag like with the V6. I drove a 2012 V6 Charger for 7 years and it was a very nice ride and got good mileage but I kept craving the V8 so I finally made the leap and I'm very happy that I did. The '19 6.4L Scatpack widebody is an awesome machine. Sometimes when I have it outside the garage for a wash, neighbors walk over to my house just to see it up close and ask questions.
I just ordered the Challenger GT AWD because the options mean more to me than the maintenance/premium gas/insurance costs associated with their V8 packages. Plus, I want the AWD for wet surfaces like we have here in Florida during rainy season. I also added almost every option to make it as comfortable, safe and fun to drive.
From someone who lived in Florida my entire life saying you need AWD for rain is one of the wors reasons I have ever heard. Literally you DO NOT need AWD in Florida ANYWHERE.
Love my Scatpack, for me... easy to control, not to much power to put you in a ditch and easy get you out of a potential bad situation. Of course driving abilities make all the difference! 🤪 First thing I did was go staggered on my Charger. 275 in the front and 305 in the back. Took some getting used to, but man what a difference! The cars fun to drive and always getting comments everywhere I go! Keep bringing the content. 😁
Thank you for another good video, RacerX! I've daily driven my 2016 SRT 392 for four years now, and I still look forward to getting into it for a ride. The sound, the punch, the comfort. At 6' 3", the Mopar car is the best fit for me. On road trips, I average 25mpg and 18.5 in town. The car has 68k miles on it now and the car has been trouble free (other than the odd interior rattle that shows up now and then on rough roads). One maintenance consideration that I would like to mention is the front brake rotors.. The Brembo 6-piston brakes REALLY bite, and I love knowing that the car will stop when I need it to, but the rotors being slotted prevent most mechanics / shops from turning the rotors. Each rotor is ~$1,000 from Mopar, or $600 aftermarket equivalent. Speaking with the local shops here in Florida, 45k miles seems to be about the time to expect needing new rotors. Just something to consider if you plan on long term ownership.
The brembo's I believe I read only add 20ft over standard brakes which with standard rotors/brakes the rotors can last the typical 100k with mindful driving habits. Im sure the brembos have great pedal feel/ no brake fade under some spirited driving but for the difference in cost...damn thats wild.
Great video as Racer X covers key points on what to expect if you purchase Scat Pack. I had a 2018 Scat Pack with the 245 tires. And while I totally understand this tire set up works for some, I was not too happy with the 245s. The 245 set up comes with 9 inch rims. And while I am no expert on the subject I did research the issue, and I found out you can put 275s on the 9 inch rims. However, you are at the minimum rim range with 275s and 9 inch rims. I also looked at buying new 9.5 inch wheels and going with 275s. Though, I see here some owners also replace wheels and go with 305s for the back with 275s on the front. However, I decided to replace the car and I purchased a 2019 Challenger 1320 which came with 275s Nexen Street Drag Radials with 9.5 inch wheels. I use the car for limited daily driving. However, I really enjoy taking road trips with this car. I just got back from a 2,800 mile road trip and the car handles the road in excellent fashion. I am at around 16,000 miles after 10 months of ownership and looks like these street drag radials will need replacing at the 20,000 mark. Agreed, gas mileage on the Scat Pack is limited for in town driving. However on a long road trip with a 60 to 80 MPH range I am getting from 23 to 24 MPG overall.
We just got a 2018 Scatpack last weekend and my husband will never get to drive it. It was sold the second I pushed the start. I love love love this car!
Just picked up my first Scat Pack after driving a Camaro SS for the past few years. The Scat Pack is head and shoulders more fun to drive around town. I'm sure if I had access to a road track the Camaro would prevail but just using the car as a cruiser and playing around town, I'm wondering why I waited so long to pull the trigger on the Mopar! Thanks for all your great videos on the Mopar content as it helped me quite a bit in my car shopping process. Thanks again!
I love my 22 wide body scat pack. All blacked out and tinted. Ton of fun to drive and I get compliments all the time on it. Get one before they are gone guys👍
Just bought a new ‘23 Scatpack and wanted to thank you for the awesome helpful tips you’re giving to new buyers which gives us a great idea of what to do!!! You the Man!! 😎👍🏻
Niki I got the car in February of 2020. It was a 2019 with 38 miles on it. They had 3 2019 for $32k with being a returning dodge owner and another discount got the price to the $32k it only has 1 add on the sunroof. I did a ton of looking online and drove 3 hrs to get it just outside of Chicago
Whew! Dodged the bullet. I have a SP on order, and seeing the video title I was worried I made a bad decision. All good stuff in the video, and for me there were no surprises.
1 year 9 days with a 2019 Challenger Scatpack and it does not like to cruise. It loves to romp and stomp. Heavier than my 2009 Chrysler 300 2.7, it feels roomier and and way better front seats and better legroom. It gets thumbs up from everyone from little kids to senior women. Cool car they'll say! Amazing, I didn't know that it going to be like this.
Traded my 13 RT with 126k miles for a fully optioned 15 RT Scat Pack with 18k miles yesterday. There is night and day difference in power, torque, comfort and technology of the 5.7 vs the 6.4
We picked up our 2017 charger scatpack with every option excluding the beats sound system and adaptive cruise @ 40,500 miles for $28,000! It was a Detailers dream so to speak because the paint had a ton of scuffs and scratches. Luckily after hours of cutting and polishing she’s looking absolutely beautiful for an excellent price.
I have a 2015 scat pack. Not a car you buy for mileage but on the highway at reasonable speeds I have seen 28mpg. That being said for everything else average about 15-19mpg. Very good road trip car.
I got an R/T and I started driving more conservatively for better gas mileage for a bit. Then one day I asked myself, why buy this car to not drive it, so I just stopped looking at gas mileage unless I'm driving highway long distance.
My ‘19 Challenger Scat is one year old now and 2600 miles. I still love the thrill of starting and driving. I usually keep it in Eco mode but Sport mode sometimes. I got the Dynamic pkg with 275 tires and 6 piston front brakes. Love the stopping power.
I guest brought my 1st 2022 Scat Pack! I’m just getting back home from the dealership. I’m so excited I’m watching your video. I love it so far. But just tap the gas and it crews up the blacktop!
This was a well-done video. However, there are a couple of points I would like to add. 1. There is some exhaust drone at highway speeds. Some people don't mind (I don't), but others are bothered by that. Something to keep in mind. 2. This car is a serious handful with the stock 245s on wet surfaces. This car requires the driver to be attentive or it can get away from you.
Have a 86 cougar with a 305 and I never drive it in the rain because its noooo fun lol I'm really looking into getting a 21 R/T scatpack . Thanks for the tip.
I have a recently owned a Dodge Challenger RT 5.7 HEMI engine 2021. In the first 2 weeks it was something need to practice on busy motor ways then become very comfortable in driving and much of fun on speeding with its horsepower and exhaust sound influence . You guys don’t have to challenge on speed with others all the time . Just enjoy driving your sport car with confidence but not over confidence. I made the right choice for myself🤙
Love the videos and I give you guys credit with higher hp. I bought my v-6 for gas mileage and style but have been pulled over for speeding twice. so I’m definitely not one suited for more power! But like seeing other challengers as a challenger fan!!
If you want a slightly nicer interior and more amenities (heated steering wheel, heated and cooled seats, adaptive suspension) an even better option is the SRT 392 which they sadly discontinued. I picked up my 2015 for about $33k from CarMax. 24k miles on the clock. I pay about $240 a month in insurance (through Geico, 29yr old. One previous ticket on record) and just under $500 a month in car note.
I appreciate your honesty, you showed me things I never considered with the scat because I'm not really a dodge guy, I'm a mustang person. But I'm looking around and it's really cool that you told us all the good and the bad
I was a die hard mustang guy owned several GTs and a 2004 Cobra terminator with a whipple 715 rwhp. I made the transition from Ford to Ram I owned an F250 and a Ram 2500 Rams product has definitely changed over the year for the better. I now own a 2023 Jeep Wrangler 392 Rubicon AWD I follow the 392 channels for content and to learn more about the 392 I do all my maintenance. I transitioned from my mustangs a few years ago and went into the jeep wranglers yeah not as fast but totally different driving experience all together. Needless to say I never looked back I did a few jeep build and when I saw this 392 in a jeep, yeah it was ridiculously overpriced but I knew deep down I had to have it and I pulled the trigger, Definitely No ReGuRtS!!! Hands down one of my best decisions I now have the best of both worlds it’s not my daily driver but damn I love driving this thing. I plan on also purchasing a TRX in the next few years as well go big or go home.😉🙌
My car looks exactly like this except it's a sxt plus, thought about upgrading but i got it for looks and for gas mileage. i'll be getting a v8 1965 mustang in 1 week tho.
Don't forget about the Magnuson Act - it protects you from your car's warranty being voided when you modify the car, especially if those mods were made by Mopar themselves, as in the case of the Scatpack Performance Packs 2 and 3! Sometimes, the government doesn't totally screw us over!
My 2021 wide body scat pack charger got stolen, and I’m not kidding when I tell you that I can buy another one, but I’m so afraid for it to get stolen again, is the only thing keeping me from getting that car again. SMH 🤦
Test drove a 6speed 19 scat pack yesterday and genuinely could not believe how much i loved it. The trans feel, the torque, the comfort and space. Was cross shopping it between a Coyote and im sold on the Scat. Now to find the right one
About a month ago, I bought a black Scat Charger 392.... MSRP was 41,990 and with the rebates and discounts I paid 33K even. This is the best car for the money I've ever bought new, and I couldn't be happier. I found RacerX's channel shortly thereafter, and I've been a subscriber since. I bought Hellcat repro wheels and mounted my Nitto drag radials on them, and am planning on running at Paradise Drag Strip in Calhoun GA in two weeks. This is a great car for the money, and I get comments on my "base" Scat every day.... I can't wait until Dodge makes the Cuda, or, I'll buy a 2 year old Hellcat Charger when the time comes. In the meantime, the Scat 392 is a great value.
Im a charger scatpack owner and I agree with racer x on most of what he said except for the whole babying and gas ⛽️ mileage thing. Listen if you drove like you stole it there’s a good chance you’ll be visiting the repair often lol that’s just a fact. Three must mods for the scatpack is tires( michelin pilot sport 4S you’ll thank me later), Oil Catch can although they do have a factory one on some model years, and headlights( HID or LED that’s up to you) the scatpack is the perfect road monster outside something boosted it WILL gap 5.0’s, Camaro SS, infinitis, etc. as far as boosted cars are concerned that’s when the scatpacks will lose some races especially to the following: 370z’s, Civics, basically anything lighter with ballpark range power to the scatpack will probably beat it. Now, Hellcats WAAAY Different story because of the blower but that’s fairly obvious. I drive mine for top end on the highway roll racing 60 rolls and up so on because to me that’s more challenging to build the right setup for that type of racing. Normal driving I average 17-18 mpg on Shell gas ⛽️ which is not bad at all and on a Hellcat you could average 16-17mpg which again is not bad at all. Every once in a while Ill put ms109 so I can hear the burps and the crackles lol. One final thing dont put a blower on a scatpack that’s just dumb and should’ve gotten a hellcat in the first place. Keep it NA, put on some bolts maybe swap pcm, new exhaust and that’s it 👍🏽
I had a SXT, a RT and now I have a Scat Pack. From SXT to Scat Pack the difference in insurance was less than $100 every six months. Oil changes are 7 quarts of full synthetic and are $100. I bought a 3 oil change bundle for $150. I have three years to use them. A lot of places do offer bundles. I live in Michigan and I don't drive it in the winter. I have a winter vehicle. The cost of owning a Scat Pack is higher than a SXT or RT. If you live in the south and drive it year around it would be less. Like Racer X said the major downfall is upgrading for power. Very expensive and limited. I couldn't afford a Helcat so I bought what I could afford. My plan is to pay it off then refinance the equity and dump $20K into it. I should be able to get 630 WHP (drop in forged rods and pistons, long tube headers, hellion twin turbos, 8lbs boost, installed and tuned by Janetti racing and a drive shaft. Hope transmission holds; which it should) which would be similar to a Helcat. It should be street reliable. I'm not sure if it would be track reliable not to break if you raced it but what is? I only want to mess around a bit doing rolls anyway so I should be good. In the end I'll have $60K into it but I did it in two steps. If you can afford a Helcat off the rip do it. Once I get to The 630 WHP you're pretty much done unless you want to go the route of boring the motor to a 426. You could do that with a blower and get to 1000 HP. Probably 25 K and up depending on what else you want to change.
@@YoungTooShabby If you have a car valued at $35,000 dollars and you only owe $10,000 on the car you could go to a bank and refinance the car and add say $20,000 to the loan and now you owe $30,000 on a car that is worth $35,000. You have to have good credit but most banks will do that type of thing.
@@donpotter3935 why would you refinance your car when you almost have it paid off? I understand how equities make sense on a trade in but to refinance and add 20,000 more dollars of debt doesn’t sound right, I’m confused
I currently drive a 2021 Toyota 4Runner because I needed a truck. This Challenger will be my 2nd car. Just give me 6 to 8 years. Hopefully...Dodge will still make them then.
I own a 2015 Scat Pack Shaker and love it. Put 275 tires on the back and added a Pedal Commander and that really put a smile on my face. Only drive it in sport plus 2 and that is enough. Goes all the way up to sport++4.
my 2019 Charger Daytona 392 came with 275s and different black rims than the regular Scatpack rims. Triple Nickel Grey on black rims fire. i need to master dig racing
I have the red. Love it. On the 245 vs 304 tires, is that why I lose traction and fishtail. I agree the tires need to be bigger! She’s a beast and I love her! 😍
Great vlog! And at the end of the day you have to realize this is a performance car so you’re gonna be paying more for everything. I think the extra weight is fine except city driving as that’s is where it’s really gonna hurt your gas mileage . The front seats may be comfortable but the back seats are only good for grocery bags LOL. And don’t forget the hemi has been quite reliable where even though Ford is making about the same horsepower out of a 5 L quite a few of the 5.0’s are having engine issues.
Just picked up my First ever new car, White Knuckle Challenger R/T Scat Pack. Couldn't be happier. I wanted my next car to be my car for the next 10 to 15 years, tired of getting used cars that don't feel like mine or cars I'm not happy with as a compromise then swallowing negative equity later.
2016 SRT 392 Challenger. B5 blue, bought new off the showroom floor in November of 2015 with 15 miles on it. Now it is 900 rwhp on E85. Tuned by Satera Tuning. If you're going to forced induction on yours, BUILD THE ENGINE FIRST! I lost the ring land on both #1 and 8 pistons at the track with stock internals and a Procharger.
To your first point, I got a 2020 Scat Pack in Octane Red, and the only options on it were the 8 Speed Auto and the convenience package(blind spot detection, power mirrors, etc) because the standard equipment is pretty solid for a car with a $42k sticker, especially weighed against the performance. As for comfort, I was tempted to get the adaptive dampers, but after driving a lowered BRZ for 6 years the standard suspension feels like it might as well be from a Rolls Royce by contrast. Which reminds me, the "Torqueflite" branded ZF 8HP-70 in the Scat Pack is the same transmission(though likely with different programming) Rolls Royce uses in the Phantom, so that should tell you something about the quality of the shifts.
I love this guy's review of the Dodge Challenger Scatpack model. There are negatives to consider and he identifies many of them. But that being said, its a great car to drive! What's more it has a Shaker hood.
Good video. Your comments on the 245 tires are similar to what I've heard from others. That is why I chose the 5.7 model. I was afraid of getting myself hurt with the 6.4 model based on the tire issue. My only regret with the 5.7 is that I didn't wait 1 year. My 2016 model has the governor on the exhaust, which means the 5.7 doesn't sound like it should. 2017 and later models sound much better because Dodge finally removed the exhaust governor. Other than that, I love the 5.7 car. It's a lot of fun to drive and it's a pretty badass color/stripe package. Shaker model in B5 blue, or Smurf blue as my sister calls it. Badass black stripes to go with the pretty blue.
I think gas mileage and a selling point for the Hellcat is the reason why the RT and Scst come with 245s. The narrower the tire, the better the mpg. Although not much help, the 275s is exclusive to base Hellcats. Not sure why dodge didnt go 305 or higher with the HC. It already has the gas guzzler tax so mpg isnt a concern
A friend of mine has an 18 scatpak and she had the transmission tuned at the factory/dealer situation, Dodge did it another words. She also had the exhaust "tuned" but don't think it was a full swap, I could be wrong. We went to Dallas Texas in it couple years ago and she made me drive, big cities like that make her anxiety fly off the charts, and man that thing was amazing to drive and comfortable. She had to keep getting onto me for spinning the tires, which I was honestly not doing on purpose. I was so use to the power plant in my Ford Edge with the 3.5 V6 and needing to give it a good amount of throttle to get up to merging speed, yeah not with that thing. She did let me "play" with it a few times. If and when I get to were I can afford one, it will be a ScatPak or a Demon. They are super fun to drive. She also has a 2015 Charger ScatPak and I love it. Deep bright red with the black racing stripes. I haven't been able to drive that one yet but rode with her a few times in it and I could tell it wasn't messing around.
Own a 2019 Scat Pack and tried a couple of different Hellcats on the GEICO app to see what the insurance difference would be: about 25% more for a 2017 and about 40% more for a 2020.
Erie insurance quoted me $770/ year for a 19 scatpack and I have substantially upgraded insurance protection.... but I'm 41. They make it tough for young people to have nice things. It took me this long to get my first v8 rear wheel drive car. I still drive it like a teenager though.
Yeah I think I was paying like 420 every six months for the scat and now I’m up to like 660 every six months for the hellcat so it definitely goes up I don’t know if it’s because I live in California and of course they gouge whatever you do in California
Yes, I liked the video! I got my 2019 Scat Pack for $34,995 I got the dollar deal so $4850 off and military discount $500 and we were able to squeeze another 1k off which they typically will not budge much on these after getting that good of a deal anyway. I do not have the shaker hood. I have the hellcat hood and yes it comes from the dealer/factory if that is how they ordered it. I have brembo brakes front and rear and all this is how I bought it brand new from the dealer. 20 inch rims. Hid lights with the air intakes on each inner halo. I did only get the houndstooth cloth which I must say is still nice to me. Mine had 4 miles on it when I bought it. I also feel lucky to have got the only tremic 6 speed manual they had. All and I mean all the other Challenger's and Chargers were auto. The main guy at this dealership he is overall in charge of all the SRT, Hellcat, Demon, scat pack cars and he personally ordered mine with Tored paint it is BA!!! I love it. Thanks RacerX keep it up and enjoy 😉
My brother has a 2018 scat challenger and I picked up the 50th anniversary scat shaker a couple days ago and wow. The difference between his and mine is like apples and oranges. Great video
I love your channel so much 😆... I was going to get a Scat Challenger but I'm going to get the R/T Shaker.. I have the V6 and all I want to hear is the Hemi so R/T loaded for me... I'll be running 275/45/20's them 245's are too small... 245 works well on my GT RWD but I can't see them holding with the R/T
Stay in your lane bro and get a good price on the RT. You see during Covid if you stretch to far youll have to go back. Only get a scat if you plan on trading the RT before you pay it off - Do it right the first time trust
Bought my 2019 R/T last year, actually ordered it. Go Mango, 8 speed auto, and the R/T classic package, that's it. Got it for a little over 34K. Was thinking about the Scat Pack, but being 64 years old, didn't need the higher maintenance cost, insurance cost, and (at that time) running 93 octane all of the time. Honestly, I am missing the extra snap from the 6.4, but the 5.7 is good enough for what I need.
Thank you for the information. I just test drove a 2021 Charger RT Plus in the new gray paint, and fell in love. Your review really made me decide to go with an RT. Going to be a big step from my 15 Passat TDI! 😂
Always great info! One of the first people I go to when I have questions about my scatpack! 🤝🤝 Gonna be modding my widebody charger for the channel soon and you definitely give me all the info I need. So I appreciate that 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Had a 15 scat m6. Cammed , kooks long tube , muffler delete , TB , JLT cai and tune. 499 whp. Lost many races. Frustrated I traded it in and got a 19 zo6 a8. TB 102mm borla x pipe and bms air filter with a diablo canned tune. Estimated 600whp. My God what monster. Dangerous to be truthful. Have not lost. Best a hellcat wide body and several heavily modded mustangs. Walked them all. Eventually I will lose a race but as of now I am 7 - 0
As always great information. I drive a 2018 Chrysler 300C which is basically Chrysler's Luxury version of the Charger RT. I don't want to void my warranty so I've only added a Cold air and deleted the rear mufflers. like yourself, I drive in Sports mode which gives me better shifts and throttle response. I just added a Petal Commander and so far I'm impressed with the added accelerator response. I'm not sure if you've had any experience with one, but I'm giving it a try. The true test will be next Saturday at thet drag strip. When new car shopping I had narrowed my selections down to a Mustang GT premium. Challenger RT until I came across the 300C that had been used as a dealership demo. I knew nothing about the Chrysler lineup, but when I opened the hood and set in the soft leather mocha seat. My connection started and I realized I needed something larger than the aformentioned coupes. I was given the 300C for a weekend test drive and found it had a great look inside and out with solid performance and comfort. With the Hugh savings the dealer offered. I traded in my SUV and purchased the 300C. I wanted luxury and performance. A sedan that doesn't look like the other sedans available. I've owned many cars in my life and the Chrysler 300C has to be one of my favorite cars. You're very knowledgeable about the Hemi. Is it worth the investment going to a larger throttle body regarding performance? Thanks for your continued information.
Base models with 8 speed and blind spot monitoring are going for $38k around here. I'd just immediately order some 9.5. 275's for up front and 10.5 305's for out back. My insurance was only going to be $60 more a year for a scatpack over the 5.7 T/A which was only $150 more a year than my 2014 Impala. That's one of the only good things about turning 40 lol. I've got a grease pit in my garage for oil changes. Penzoil platinum is only $23/gallon at Walmart. Gotta keep receipts for warranty though.
FCA typically runs $4850 in incentives. Dealership can be usually be knocked down a couple grand. If you find one you like, and can get it for $6500 off msrp with no bs dealer markups, go for it. Even better, find a new 19 still sitting on a lot and get it for $10k off msrp.
I’m glad I decided to get into a Dodge Challenger same model same year without the shaker tho, and I’m in love! I came from luxury AMG and also having a 640i best thing I’ve done, getting use to the rear wheel drive but not that bad, I do want to get 305s I have 275s on them but car/ride really feels great! I would definitely do it if anyone is decided especially if your coming from luxury 🙌🏽
I'm a Jeep guy looking to get a Challenger for my toy. I definitely want the V8. I used to own a 70 Chevy Monte Carlo, the first drag I ever had was against a 70 Road Runner with a 383 and it blew my doors off
I'll be making my first long trip tomorrow morning from georgia to ohio. Going full eco and cruise control. I expect to get 26 mph average. I have been very surprised on the average gas mileage on my 2019 scat pack back and forth to work and around town.. Coming from a full sized ram 1500 I guess anything can be better.
Great video. My lease on my Challenger R/T Shaker is up in 5 months. I was thinking of upgrading to the wide body scat pack. Your comments about the insurance and cost of higher octane gas was something that my ego wouldn't let me consider. Thanks for bringing me back down to reality. I do love the 'wow' factor of my R/T. The 6 speed manual shift allows me to make it roar. I think I'll stay with the R/T , go with the Sinomon Stick, and get side stripes instead of the shaker stripe. Thanks.
Hahahahaa skip the scat/srt392 and go straight to the hellcat. Good idea my man. I moved up from SXT to RT to now Scatpack. I’ll get that whiner one day too ! Keep grinding man
Very nice video. I have a 2015 SPS and when we drive it is a ton of fun. What you didn't touch on is wheel alignment. From the factory there are no caster or camber adjustments, it's set the toe and let it go. There is a kit to make those components adjustable. The kit is 750.00. In my case it was in the shop (dealer) for 30 days.
I had a 2015 Challenger Scat Pack manual transmission 6.4 and now I am driving a 2020 Mustang GT with Roush Supercharer Stage 2. I telling you than the Scat Pack has more low end torque than my Mystang supercharger. That 6.4 move that heavy car like nothing. Is really amazing engine. Is not replacement for displacement.
Picked up a 50th anniversary scat pack widebody in frost bite last thursday, first V8 and I love it!!!!

Fantastic my friend.. hope your loving that car 👍
That's badass. You gotta upload a video for us hemi crackheads.

@@PatrickScottlxw it's a new sick color for 2020. Falls somewhere between the b5 and indigo blues in hue. I want!
The one car that stayed true to its roots. The Mustang and Camaro have morphed into sports cars whereas the Mopar has remained as a muscle car and is the best daily driver in terms of room and comfort. All three are nice vehicles.
Paul Bugoni .. very true.. I agree 👍
I love the Chargers they are very practical cars with models for everyone.
Mustang and Camaro were never muscle cars. Always pony cars.

Decent job, save up/build credit and you’re set
Fantaco you will some day
I've owned a 5.7 RT, two 392 Scats and two Hellcats. The Scat 392's felt more fun to daily drive around town because of the low end torque. Right off idle it wil spin the tires so easily. It was all jumpy torque around town which makes it a fun car to drive! The Hellcats will do it too obviously, but the naturally aspirated power of the 392 comes on differently.
fully agreed.. That why I love driving the scatpack as well
Wouldn't the Hellcat feel the same until the blower kicks in?
@@StephenHorrillo2 Good question, not sure. I would think the 6.2L Hellcat engine vs 6.4L in Scat Pack would result in feeling different..
And, the Scats sound amazing with a muff delete.
Haha
Mercury Visions .. haha #neighborpunishment lol
you can buy a tazer and unlock that mode for you to start the car up in track mode if you wanted too. and a whole lot of other stuff.
I just store my favorite drive mode under the custom setting and after starting my car U double tap the SRT button (SRT 392) and it goes straight to it. Same thing probably works with the Scat but the SRT button has a different word on it in the Scat.
I also have a 2019 392 Scatpack, My car remembers the last drive mode. I leave it on Sport. It roars !!

Anthony Molina .. awesome stuff brother! Glad your loving that beast
Everything you said is 100% true. Went from a 5.7 to the 6.4 but let's not forget, it is all WORTH IT!

Excellent review- R/T enough for me all day long. I don’t want to buy premium fuel nor jacked insurance for a daily driver
Bon Jarrow Thanks for the heads up!
The brembo's I believe I read only add 20ft over standard brakes which with standard rotors/brakes the rotors can last the typical 100k with mindful driving habits. Im sure the brembos have great pedal feel/ no brake fade under some spirited driving but for the difference in cost...damn thats wild.
Bought a charger scat pack two weeks ago , best decision of my life ... when you put that boy in track it’s some else !
Absolutely Jordan.. that's how I drive it
Great video as Racer X covers key points on what to expect if you purchase Scat Pack.

I had mine for 2 years. It still excites me as daily driver.
Whew! Dodged the bullet. I have a SP on order, and seeing the video title I was worried I made a bad decision. All good stuff in the video, and for me there were no surprises.
I ordered one yesterday. What did they say your wait time was going to be?
1 year 9 days with a 2019 Challenger Scatpack and it does not like to cruise. It loves to romp and stomp. Heavier than my 2009 Chrysler 300 2.7, it feels roomier and and way better front seats and better legroom. It gets thumbs up from everyone from little kids to senior women. Cool car they'll say! Amazing, I didn't know that it going to be like this.

I went from a Ecoboost Mustang, too a scatpack and now pay $150 LESS, I love how that works !

Hey don't worry about it man. I'm sure you'll get an upgrade soon
Tbh yeah lol R/Ts get as much respect as the SXT
Everyone with the next level up will pretend that anything lower is unacceptable. That's their way of justifying their 700$ car payment.
I drive 7.3 powerstroke slug. It's got 500k on it. I jump in with a smile on my face every day. Its not new but it gets me 700 miles a week
What do you mean refinance the equity
@@YoungTooShabby If you have a car valued at $35,000 dollars and you only owe $10,000 on the car you could go to a bank and refinance the car and add say $20,000 to the loan and now you owe $30,000 on a car that is worth $35,000. You have to have good credit but most banks will do that type of thing.
@@donpotter3935 why would you refinance your car when you almost have it paid off? I understand how equities make sense on a trade in but to refinance and add 20,000 more dollars of debt doesn’t sound right, I’m confused
@@YoungTooShabby So I can take that 20K and build the motor, trans and axle to have hellcat power.

I have the red. Love it. On the 245 vs 304 tires, is that why I lose traction and fishtail. I agree the tires need to be bigger! She’s a beast and I love her! 😍
Thanks for the info! I just ordered a 2020 Charger Scatpack on Tuesday, can’t wait to get it!!
Awesome stuff .. I bet your ready..
I’ve got a 19 Scat Pack Wide Body and I love it. Super fun and just a great car to get out and enjoy.
Ghostrider304 .. most definitely 👍
Agreed wade.. I know some of those Coyotes have that tick.. The Scat is a great package for sure
No. Progressive quoted me 1200 for HC and 600 for SP. I work at Dodge and this is common occurrence!
Great video. Absolutely love my 19 scat pack wide body, destroyer grey.
Scat pack Pete .. for sure! Love that destroyer grey
I have a 2019 Bullitt which I would never give up. But if I had the extra dough, I would get one of these too.
Aston Martin uses or did use the ZF 8 speed also. I remember Car and Driver saying that back in 2015.
Yes it’s a really nice riding car with a solid trans 👍.. really enjoy the Scatpack
Just buy a new tire setup
Damnit that’s a bummer, I want to upgrade next year but that’s a potential game changer at 340 a month with a Scat
6.4L of Daytona .. wow that’s more than what I had seen from a few other companies! I was seeing like 10%.. strange
Japoop Sabeano .. I’m the same age 👍
I love my White Knuckle 2019 Challenger Scatpack
Thats a great color
My brother has a 2018 scat challenger and I picked up the 50th anniversary scat shaker a couple days ago and wow. The difference between his and mine is like apples and oranges. Great video
I love your channel so much 😆... I was going to get a Scat Challenger but I'm going to get the R/T Shaker.. I have the V6 and all I want to hear is the Hemi so R/T loaded for me... I'll be running 275/45/20's them 245's are too small... 245 works well on my GT RWD but I can't see them holding with the R/T
Chester Foster .. sounds like a great setup my friend 🤜🔥🔥
Save your money and get a Scat bro. You’ll thank yourself later
Another great video! Always reassuring me getting a Scat was the best decision!
SikOne 392 .. it’s a solid package for sure 👍
This was very helpful!! I’ve been debating between a used low mile scat pack and a new rt. Very good to know info! Thanks!
what did you end up getting? literally in the same sitution rn, debating over getting a scat pack or rt
@@aramm3905 tbh i went for a 2021 scatpack and leasing it on the dodge website i only have to pay like 500$ monthly for 3 years
@@aramm3905 what did you go with?
Base models with 8 speed and blind spot monitoring are going for $38k around here. I'd just immediately order some 9.5. 275's for up front and 10.5 305's for out back.
My insurance was only going to be $60 more a year for a scatpack over the 5.7 T/A which was only $150 more a year than my 2014 Impala. That's one of the only good things about turning 40 lol. I've got a grease pit in my garage for oil changes. Penzoil platinum is only $23/gallon at Walmart. Gotta keep receipts for warranty though.
Japoop Sabeano .. that wheel setup is perfect! Sounds like you have the right recipe for your oil changes as well 👍
Manual scatpack owners UNITE !!! 🕹
I have been contemplating getting a scat pack for a while now. Won't rush into a purchase that's for sure.
jjjsoc .. go for it when the time is right 👍
FCA typically runs $4850 in incentives. Dealership can be usually be knocked down a couple grand. If you find one you like, and can get it for $6500 off msrp with no bs dealer markups, go for it. Even better, find a new 19 still sitting on a lot and get it for $10k off msrp.
@@Jeremy_810 there are several new 2019 challengers in the state actually
Traded my 2009 jk for a 19 charger scatpack and is so much fun
Jose Reyes .. heck yea brother.. love it
I’m on verge in 2 days trading my 14 JK on a 19 Challenger SCATPACK......hope I don’t miss the Jeep too much
david g you won’t bro lol
I’m glad I decided to get into a Dodge Challenger same model same year without the shaker tho, and I’m in love! I came from luxury AMG and also having a 640i best thing I’ve done, getting use to the rear wheel drive but not that bad, I do want to get 305s I have 275s on them but car/ride really feels great! I would definitely do it if anyone is decided especially if your coming from luxury 🙌🏽
Have a R/T was looking into a scat pack this video was real good help I want it more now😂😂😂
Im on the fence about trading my RT too but cant make up my mind
I'm a Jeep guy looking to get a Challenger for my toy. I definitely want the V8. I used to own a 70 Chevy Monte Carlo, the first drag I ever had was against a 70 Road Runner with a 383 and it blew my doors off
I'll be making my first long trip tomorrow morning from georgia to ohio. Going full eco and cruise control. I expect to get 26 mph average. I have been very surprised on the average gas mileage on my 2019 scat pack back and forth to work and around town.. Coming from a full sized ram 1500 I guess anything can be better.
I drove my Daytona 392 from California to Vegas and got 25.8 MPG on the highway so you’ll get it done for sure
I’m sure it will be a good trip. You will definitely have to exercise restraint to keep the mileage number up 👍
@@ig9628 eco mode makes a phenomenal difference on the hwy mpg.
No B.S. 27.8 mph avg. 680 mile trip. Average speed was 75 mph. That is seriously impressive for that car.
Just picked up scat widebody from r t these are all incredible cars thanks for the channel
Love my 19 Scatpack!
Patrick Cortazzo ... us too 🤜🔥🔥
RacerX me 3 bro lol
Great video. My lease on my Challenger R/T Shaker is up in 5 months. I was thinking of upgrading to the wide body scat pack. Your comments about the insurance and cost of higher octane gas was something that my ego wouldn't let me consider. Thanks for bringing me back down to reality. I do love the 'wow' factor of my R/T. The 6 speed manual shift allows me to make it roar. I think I'll stay with the R/T , go with the Sinomon Stick, and get side stripes instead of the shaker stripe. Thanks.
I’m good with my R/t the next charger I get going to have that whine.
Very true I paid $35590 for my 2019 scat pack
how much you pay a month
@@cr9672 he prolly pays around 500-600 a month all depending on the down payment and credit
I got an estimate of $700-800 /month 0% Apr. No down payment. Good Credit.
For a 2021 R/T Charger Scatpack
wow thats insane
I had a 2015 Challenger Scat Pack manual transmission 6.4 and now I am driving a 2020 Mustang GT with Roush Supercharer Stage 2. I telling you than the Scat Pack has more low end torque than my Mystang supercharger. That 6.4 move that heavy car like nothing. Is really amazing engine. Is not replacement for displacement.
