    I remember someone describing Mr. Crowley as "The National Anthem of Guitar Solos" and im like, yeah. 100% it is.
    Its everything a guitar solo should be. Its technical, yet musical. It builds upon itself and has a distinct progression from start to finish. Its as timeless as anything out there, you could release that tomorrow and it would still turn heads.

    Mr Crowley is like the England vs Argentina match in the 1986 world cup. In that match Maradona scored two of the most talked about goals in the history of the sport and the other one featured ”the hand of god”. Well, Mr. Crowley has two of the most talked about solos in the history of traditional heavy metal and definitely ”the hand of god” must have been there when Randy was playing those solos.

    Everyone says evh, steve vai, and jo satriani are the greatest ever, but Randy had a style that no one else had. He had something that everyone wishes they had today. his songs are masterpieces. You can do all the sweeps and play as fast as you want but no one can be Randy. Same with Dime. Skill doesnt equal good music and songwriting.

      IMO the only thing Randy was deficient in compared to them was time. If he were still alive and had been making music over all these years I think MANY folks would reorder their assessments of 'top' guitarists of all time.

    • @RobertMJohnson
      @RobertMJohnson 9 днів тому +1

      uh...EVH had a style all his own. so does Vai. they are all great. technically, you could take points AWAY from Randy because a lot of what he did, and does here in the Mr. Crowley solos, is rip off classical composers almost phrase by phrase.
      Eddie didn't do that. when the %$@& have you heard the beginning of Mean Street in your life? who else had tone like the beginning of Unchained? and the cradle will rock? YEAH, i'm SURE you heard that beginning before my eye.
      try to replicate the original track of Panama tone for tone. try it. you can't do it. i haven't heard ANYONE on youtube come close.
      are you actually going to sit there and say Randy could outplay Steve Vai and Ywgwie Malmsteem ? like...really? are you really going to make that claim?

    • @RobertMJohnson
      @RobertMJohnson 9 днів тому

      @@markdawsonziglar9436 Randy's career started in 1978 with Quiet Riot. by the time Diary of a Madman came out, Eddie Van Halen had 3 platinum albums and 1 of 2 Diamond albums released.
      most great guitarists do there best work well before 30. Led Zeppelin released I-IV before Page was 28 years old. Randy and Eddie were basically the same age.
      if Randy kept going, we may have gottne 1-2 more albums out of him but he wanted to go back to school, get his PhD and become a professor. so we might not have gotten much out of him.
      artists don't have unlimited creativity, especially musicians. as a rock star, you are more than fortunate if you have 3-4 great albums in you

    I dont play guitar,but always been a fan of randy,managed to see him live twice in the uk.heres a question would he be held in such high asteem(rightly so) if he hadn't have died sooo young and left such a short back catalogue,than if he had lived longer producing more material?

    For the random descending notes towards the end, is it truly random or will a certain pattern work best? This is one of my favorite all time solos and I’m really struggling with that part. Just doesn’t sound right

    I saw someone on UA-cam saying that Rhandy's solos are difficult because on the original records the solo sessions are, in fact, two solos almost identical but slightly different at the same time.
