For a person that is diagnosed with ADHD, I find this pretty accurate. The lack of motivation is the most one probably for me. Motivation is the worst for me ever, I really don't get anything done because I just won't feel like it and the next day I feel sad because I didn't get it done. I take medicine for it, and I have a wonderful mother and father who knows how to deal with it perfectly.

It's not easy having ADHD, I wanna clean my room, but the stress of my room not bring clean makes me unmotivated so it's an endless cycle of not cleaning my room, the same goes with other things, but another big trait of ADHD is the willingness to help others we get enjoyment from helping others, I don't want to clean my room, but I'd clean a messier room just for the gratification of helping someone

Then again adhd can cause all of those things.

My husband has ADHD, depression and was on medication for many years. When we moved and he had to get a new Doctor. Unfortunately because my husband was nearly 68, the Doctor said ADHD medication was not recommended for someone his age and he wouldn't renew his prescription. The Dr didn't even offer to wean him off the meds! He left him with no meds and had him go. God so kind a friend recommended us to mushrooms (psilocybin) precisely. After his experience with shrooms five years ago till now there's no more ADHD, depression and mental disorder. Shrooms are life changing. There is no way you can put into words what it feels like..

I can relate. Not with ADHD but autism. 19 and only now am I diagnosed and only because I learnt it was hereditary and decided to seek out and pay for a private psychologist (I'm from the UK so things normally go through public health).
I've always had poor social skills and mental problems, grew up with no friends and needing speech therapy, AND when I spoke to my mum about autism I found out that I got referred for an autism diagnosis when I was 5 but public health were just like "eh, they aren't THAT bad, they're probably just shy or something" without actually following the assessment. It's not fair that this kinda thing happened.

I forget very easily, and I usually get a bit of a lecture about it. “Just remember then.” “Stop fidgeting.” “Pay attention.” “Stop doing that.” “Are you ignoring me?” Its getting really difficult right now, and i dont know what to do. Im always worried what others think about me, and sometimes i even make up lies to seem like a cooler, better person. Its so stressful, its really interfearing with my education. But my parents arent really big believers in disabilities, and think the whole spectrum thing is bullshit. And i get annoyed by the smallest things, like one minute im happy, i then get annoyed and angry by the smallest thing, and then im sad because i feel bad, although i did nothing wrong? Its really annoying me, sorry for this little vent, i really needed this. I do not have ADHD, but latley i have seen videos like these and am starting to wonder, “is this me?” Sorry for this big ass paragraph

No need to apologize ! Thank you for sharing your feelings :)
I think I have similar situations where I feel little to no motivation at all to do tasks (even eating healthily seems often difficult). Recently I noticed how I could go from satisfied or content to disappointed and ashamed in the same day while socializing. And I can't stop thinking about what I did wrong in the day and reminscing old memories where I found myself unattractive or hateful. I can't get peace in my mind when I don't do something or I can't focus on a simple thing because I suddenly feel the need to review these old memories again when... I'm not supposed to? It's confusing and I can't totally move on from my mistakes and actions from before. I thought facing them but how? Do other normal people do that?
At this point I think therapy is needed because I need clear answers about my behaviour and unhealthy state of mind.
And sorry for my mistakes I haven't wrote in english in a long time lol

Hi! idk if it is same to me but da thing is
i do not know if i have adhd
      i think so
dats why i tried to get diagnosed
but my MUM thinks im acting and its starting to piss me off how each thing we have with a doctor, the first guy said that there is no shit i do not have ADHD
my psychologist said he thinks i do not have ADHD since my problems were the exams and the stress about them, thats what i talked to him about always
the third guy said dat, uhh , said dat he recomends another guy
and dat other guy said that we needed to meet 6 MORE TIMES
And why didnt my mom just go to the second meeting with the first doctor? in irl?
      cuz she wants second opinions
and beetween these meetings, there are 1 or 2 months so
shes just like hey he thinks he has adhd cuz her sister has it
MY SISTER TOOK ONLY 1 WEEK TO DIAGNOSE THAS JUST AMAZING LOOOL
i know these stuff are worth money, so thats something i should be pacient with, but it would be better if we just got into da next meeting with the first doctor cuz she would spend less money so
no reason about that i guess
Wa-wa-wait i just wrote a whole text to awnser a comment? same size as a comment im still writing? dis is ironic and weir- AM I ACTING? i have questions

I understand you’re struggles. I was diagnosed with ADHD and other disorders in my second year of Elementary. The thing that helps me the most with focus is by playing with my rings during my sessions. I also enjoy doodling while listening to the lecture. Some days when I really can’t focus I like to give my brain a break and close my eyes. To help my memory improve I would say my locker combination out loud the right way then backwards.

    1. Stay awake for at least 12 hours before even thinking about actually being productive
    2. Randomly decide you want to learn the ENTIRE dragon language from the video game Skyrim, and spend about an hour learning proper pronunciation but specifically the direct translation of words from that language into your own
    3. Attempt to start virtual work for high school, and promptly forget it and watch UA-cam
    4. Remember dragon language, become fascinated in it again
    5. Back to UA-cam spontaneously, watch a bunch of Shorts, then find this video
Edit: I will be on medication soon for potentially ADD. More testing needs to be done, and don't be fooled, this process is tedious and long. To be diagnosed to the point where something is done, they have to figure out and map your full psyche, and do testing with medication and so on. Many, many steps are required for anything of value to be done.
Edit 2: I have ADD. I am currently on Adderall, but it's at such a high dosage that I'd die of exhaustion or starvation from its side effects, but other than that it makes me relatively normal (assuming normal is almost superhuman when those aspects of my brain are unhindered). Also, all that bullshit about "mapping your psyche" is completely wrong, I just assumed that because of the articles I read and my ignorance of the actual process, they did a lot more than they actually ended up doing. In reality, they just did some screenings for symptoms of ADD/ADHD and then trial-and-errored until the desired effects were achieved (still an ongoing process but this one works as a tool).

I'm sorry to hear that. In my case, I'm kind of grateful I wasn't diagnosed at an early age because a lot of people would have doubted my ability to finish school. When I got diagnosed for a learning disability in college, a college counselor for people with disabilities didn't think I could complete a degree I wanted to pursue so I ended up taking something else. After I got diagnosed with ADHD my mom didn't think I could have a regular job. She wanted me to look for a job best suited for ADHD people. Personally, that made me feel worse because I know I am pretty capable. I've even been evaluated on my skills at a center. I did pretty good. It's just hard sometimes. But I can also see how it can be bad to be diagnosed with ADHD so late. I mean, I was in my 30s when it happened. I didn't get the help I needed too but I also think of all the medication I would've taken.

My previous diagnosis were OCD and a tic disorder, turns out it was just ADHD that I heavily masked for most of my life because I grew up in an abusive household where my parents bullied me about my ADHD traits, especially the hyperactivity. I feel like I finally understand why my time management, organization, and motivation skills have always been so bad no matter how hard I've tried to improve. So much makes sense now!

I am diagnosed with ADHD and I can say it is a personal hell. Your mind races so fast some of your thoughts will even shock you. You get pointed out for doing things like talking fast or tapping your foot or for me ( making weird noises with your mouth) it makes me super self conscious and brings down my self esteem sometimes… I feel like I have to try so much harder to do things some people have no problem doing simply because I CANT FOCUS AT ALL. I start doing one thing and I end up starting like 4 other things in my process. There has definitely been times I’ve broken down and cried and hated myself but.. I try and look at the positives, I can multitask really well because I can’t focus on one thing at a time so multiple things actually (ironically) makes it easier. I feel like I’m getting that “flow” some people are able to easily get. I’ve taken medication and it helps but it can cause you to become dependent because it helps so much if you don’t take it or if you lose it you start to notice your ADHD tendencies A LOT more. It makes you feel dumb but hey I’m here to tell you, you aren’t alone. There are others out there struggling in silence. Some don’t even know they have it but we can support eachother and try and understand eachother and we can do this. Keep going no matter what.

As someone who has ADHD let me say this, when we take medication we don’t just stop having ADHD for a certain period of time, instead what the medication does is strengthen your hyper focus which will keep you on task but will also make it difficult to do anything other than that task. It might be different depending on who you are and what medication you take but that’s just what I see most often.

Me and my sister have adhd and asd, and I hear this all the time. Especially since my sister is 3 years younger than me, and is therefore a teenager. The people that's supposed to be professionals, and have to help her (because she's a "child"), keeps going on and on about routine and planning, even though they know her brain doesn't work like that. Adhd and asd is a wierd combo, and in our way, routine doesn't help. They don't understand how a routine can also be flexible and isn't necessarily only one way, and they are the ones who are supposed to know this. It confuses me so much, like just let us be in peace without having to hear routine, routine and routine on repeat.

Undiagnosed and untreated ADHD can lead to depression. Depression has similar symptoms, but it will worsen the ADHD symptoms. The problem is someone who doesn't have ADHD can look at these symptoms and come to the conclusion that they have it where they only show mild symptoms or "normal" behaviour. For example I see myself in a lot of these, especially disorganisation, impulsivity and unmotivated but I don't believe I have ADHD (although I've never been checked and because I did well in school and a have never been hyperactive I never will)
It's important to understand that showing signs is not the same as having a mental/behavioural disability (or however its classed) and you should never self diagnose anything

I have ADHD and have always done extremely well in school and I do experience almost all of the symptoms explained in the video. I also have never been hyperactive because hyperactivity is one of the three types of ADHD. There’s hyperactive, inattentive, and a combination of the two. The type I have is inattentive, it’s a lot harder to diagnose and is more presented in the female sex (which I am). A lot of people who have inattentive type ADHD, don’t get diagnosed until they’ve reached adulthood (especially when they do well in school) because it’s not nearly as visible compared to hyperactivity. The only reason I got diagnosed so early on is because I recognized some of those symptoms and out of curiosity I asked my parents if I could get a diagnosis just to be sure. Turns out I did! I got prescribed a medication and take it every morning before I go to school, it’s helped so much and has made life easier for the better. Hope this reply helps you! :)

I don’t know. I relate to a lot of symptoms but I also don’t relate to a lot of them. I can focus and I always accomplish tasks, but I also need constant reminding and it’s hard to remember to do the tasks. I’ll probably talk to my therapist about it to see. Thanks for the video!

I’m 13, and i relate to all of these. I’m thinking of asking my parents to take me to the doctor to see if I have it or not. The one I relate to most are innatentivness, and hyper focus. Whenever i’m in school or talking to someone about something i’m not really interested in or don’t care about, i tend to zone out or be distracted by something else. But if I am working or talking about something i’m interested in I tend to listen very closely. I do still zone out when talking, but while working I focus very hard on it and don’t care about anything else around me. Thank you for showing these, it really helps, thank you ☺️

I’ve looked through lots of ADHD videos and I relate to most of the symptoms or signs people list so I wanna tell my parents that I want to get a diagnosis. Unfortunately, I don’t want them to say ‘But you are normal’ or ‘you don’t have ADHD’ but it worth telling them so maybe behaviours will make sense.
Edit: Sorry for making this comment come across as self-diagnosis. I would never and I don’t want to put myself and others in danger. I’m so very sorry!

it is indeed important to go to a psychiatric to check it out, anxiety and depression has some similar symptoms of adhd, those being lack of interest and attention, thats why you cant just diagnose yourself.

This story is kinda long so my bad 🤷‍♀️
As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD I was crying watching this video because I only saw the video as of how different I am from normal people. when I was a kid in elementary school I was never able to make friends as easily as other people because of my ADHD (ADHD can affect everyone differently this is just how it was for me). I always struggled with socializing with other people I would struggle to talk them and Learn more about them. So as a kid I only grew up with 2 friends at most at a time and even after time those friends left me because they couldn’t understand (They told me that they didn’t think I cared because I talked so much about other things). So not only did I lose the only friends I ever had I also had bad grades and wasn’t musically or athletically talent either. I went Into a small depression after awhile. I started to hate myself so much, I though I was complete garbage and a waste of air. So after a while (yes a whole year and a half of being alone) I finally worked up the courage to find new friends that I could hangout with and thank God I found 2 new friends, but then the pandemic hit. But still I tried to stay friends with these people because I didn’t want to be alone. So when the school year started again I would have friends to hangout with and not be alone. Now it’s been 4 years and I still have the same 2 friends I made before the pandemic they understand me and I couldn’t be more grateful. Sometimes there just needs to be bad before there’s good.

This hit close to home. I'm a highschool student as of now and I was diagnosed with ADHD at 5 years old (which is amazing fact considered I'm a female). I have always struggled with staying interested in school and tend to get in trouble for skipping ahead on my work. I also had bad grades last year and the year before because I hated wasting my time on homework when I could draw, practice playing trumpet or watch anime. It got to the point where I'd get all of the things for my hobbies taken away until I did my work. But thankfully in highschool grades are weighted and homework only counts for 5% of my grade.
