It features a number of new sections in comparison to the any% TAS, alongside new optimizations to preexisting rooms that can be directly compared. Naturally, I kinda stole my own thunder right at the very end after I discovered a very useful glitch that sort of makes autoscrollers disappear, that could have been applied to a number of locations. Oh well! While I was encoding the video, I accidentally moved the emulator window around during the start of The Forest. That caused the video to glitch a bit, so I rerecorded that particular section to overlay a clean version. As it turns out, Premiere Pro lied to me about the exact video placement, as there's now a few frames of black screen right before the level starts, making it seem as if the entire thing is spliced. Technically, it is, but I assure you, the input file plays from beginning to end, no cheats or splices or anything needed.
Actually, this would take longer on lower difficulties, since he uses INSANE damage boosting throughout the entire run, which is more effective on the hardest difficulty
@@cullenhutchison6528 if you go frame by frame at 27:31, you can see that the level selector moves to The Lake before moving back to The Ruins (and pressing A on the same frame). This brings up the difficulty select which you don't see on any other level, which confirms you got the glitch. This skips the character selection screen for this level, meaning that the characters stored in memory (aka the characters from the previous level) are used for The Ruins! The catch is that this glitch can only be used on levels which have character select screens in the map, and not cutscenes (as you can't skip the cutscenes entirely and they set the characters once you're in the level)

This is still the BEST Super Smash Bros adventure mode of all franchise to this day. Sad they can't redo something similar to this no more. The SSBU has its fun quirks, but still can't compare to Subspace Emissary. It's basically a storyline of its own how all characters comes together. Of course a few secret ones too. Missed this Subspace Emissary
I think the biggest shame is that this huge labor of love for the series is trapped on arguably the worst entry (mechanically, at least) in the franchise. Sure, no one could blame you for wanting to go back and play subspace, but I'm pretty sure you end up on a list somewhere if you suggest playing "the one with tripping in it" to the smash community.

I love that this TAS eases you into all the bob-omb-explosion-stuff it does in the ending by introducing it throughout the play, so by the time you reach the Great Maze you know what's happening.
It is astounding that the Great Maze still takes over 15 minutes to complete, even with the power of Unlimited Damage Boost Works and a monoculture of Stitches.
the quick little moment with the Roader at 14:19 plays out like a god damn looney toon, i keep rewatching that part specifically and laughing at how Marth looks like he's getting spooked like this is a scooby doo bit or something

i don't think enough people truly understand how insane this run is. they had to not only rng manipulate every single bomb but also every sticker drop for the benefits for them, but also have to manipulate enemy patterns, cpu player patterns, and boss patterns, all while using frame perfect glitches to actually survive the speeds at which you're going and skip unnecessary fights

Whenever she's kidnapped by someone other than Bowser or there's a threat that isn't Bowser, she is one of the stronger characters when it comes to figuring out what's really going on this time. She also typically talks about Bowser kidnapping her as if it's just a sunday thing, but anything else seems to get her genuinely worried.

The Ruins level (27:33) tripped me out for a second on why you were playing as Yoshi. I clicked on the link in the description and didn't know that the Character Storage glitch was a thing in this game

Subspace Emissary 100% TAS drinking game. Take a shot whenever: - A door is entered offscreen - Camera manip is used to despawn enemies - A Bob-omb drops from a random source - The player dies in between the area being completed and the game transitioning to the next area - A death plane is circumvented or a clip saves time
my favorite aspect of this is how the core mechanic of the game (knockback/launching) is ultimately the most important and useful tool to this speedrun. it feels oddly fitting. it really is a smash bros speedrun, huh? :>
It all started with Super Mario RPG inexplicitly making her only offensive special attack, Psyche Bomb, where you literally rain bombs on your enemies.
This run was a pure delight to watch! Highly enjoyable and speedy. Favorite TAS of the year so far, for sure. I'll now wait for a 100% Achievements run ;)

Damn. Nothing can seem to be able to stop, slow down or freeze Peach for a second in Taboo's greatest maze. Not a single of his followers or Taboo himself can pose a threat or keep up with her in a chase. Taboo should've just hid under some Rocks.
I believe it has something to do with Subspace itself. I read somewhere that character run speeds and jump heights are generally much lower than usual.
@@seanandwhatever Sakurai recently discussed Brawl and revealed the run heights of the fastest characters had to be lowered while others had increased or decreased jump height and it's really noticeable for some characters

This run was incredible. It's insane to me how with perfect RNG, and precise inputs, the game is almost trivialized, even on the hardest difficulty.

Damn. Nothing can seem to be able to stop, slow down or freeze Peach for a second in Taboo's greatest maze. Not a single of his followers or Taboo himself can pose a threat or keep up with her in a chase. Taboo should've just hid under some Rocks.

This is an impressive TAS to watch all the rng line up perfectly.
This really shows just how slow Brawl was relative to other smash games that even in a TAS character movement feels like it’s dragging through water
I believe it has something to do with Subspace itself. I read somewhere that character run speeds and jump heights are generally much lower than usual.
@@seanandwhatever Sakurai recently discussed Brawl and revealed the run heights of the fastest characters had to be lowered while others had increased or decreased jump height and it's really noticeable for some characters
