The water chip was a reference to Fallout 1. There, it was the player's original mission to find a replacement water chip to secure the survival of their vault.
Also a handy way to put a time limit on the vault considering how important it is.
But idk why they just ignored it afterwards and acting like they are not gonna have no water after two months
@@chatter4427season 2 is coming.
@@droyal18able I just feel it’s weird they didn’t show any urgency
@chatter4427 I hasn't been that long in the show I believe. Seems like just a couple weeks.
So far all the reaction channels seem to be shocked about Lucy's treatment/reaction of/to the severed head. Remember, she's from a vault that's very analytical, scientific and dry about the human body ( and reproduction ). She doesn't know to be shocked or disgusted by it, just a body part. Okiedokie.
This doesn't make any sense, you don't have to "know" anything to be involuntarily disgusted by the head of a guy you just chopped off lmao, the "casual violence" is a part of Fallout as a whole not specifically her character
@@invictus7736 She's very much shown that she's able to what she needs to do to get things done. She doesn't look disturbed during the attack on the base. She is a very practical person, she shows many reactions on the surface, but disgust is not one of them. If it was a male character showing no disgust at a severed head you'd not even think twice about it.
I think it helps that Wilzig was a pretty nice dude. At this point, it'd be sorta rude to be disgusted by his severed head when he was pushing you to think like a survivor.
They use human bodies as fertilizer in the vault. It was shown when they were cleaning up after the attack.
I think half of it is her vault were definitely indoctrinating the residents more than others, after all if you go back and check out her montage in episode 1 again she's doing some pretty amazing stuff that she considers average, though the finale explains this.
I absolutely love that Cooper Howard was LITERALLY the poster boy for Vault-Tec. And company were such big fans of him they designed the Vault suits after his outfit from his movies.
"What if I wanna wear a green one?"
And when he became problematic, they replaced him with a generic (but very iconic) Vault Boy.
Pretty effective management, I must say! 👍
When they announced the show, I rolled my eyes at the idea that they’d show us the origin of the Vault Boy mascot. But it works so so well in the show! It shows how people like Cooper become commodified as nothing more than a product to sell a brand instead of a human person. Love this show
This is why you don’t judge before something is officially released
@gabrielball9468 well every other Video game TV adaptation was a complete joke targetted at people who don't even play the games.
But Fallout hit the sweet spot where both can enjoy the show .
So many people are picking up the games now too, even the good ones like 2 and New Vegas , so ultimately it's a good thing .
Don't like how the NCR Capitol got nuked before the events of NV though.
Cause it kinda retcons all the events .
Mind you I wouldn't mind seeing the MCs of the show go through the areas in New Vegas the character does .
The Last Of Us, Castlevania, & Arcane (League of Legends) as well.
@@eno6712IT DOESNT HAPPEN BEFORE THE EVENTS OF THE SHOW!!
Maybe the squire carrying things is a reference to having our companions carry our heavy junk and weapons we need
Yep
That has literally been confirmed, no need to frame like a cool theory of yours to seem quirky
Or it could be, guess this, _just shit squires do._ Literally. They carried their knights arms and armor for them.
@@Kriaeyou okay man?
@@Kaspar.C0LD or is just a reference to exactly how we use companions.
"You ever tried to pull food out of a snake?"
"NO!"
Falling on your back hurts even if you don't break anything. All the air in your lungs gets pushed out and for a few minutes they feel very raw while you gulp for air. Speaking from experience.
Yeah it does. I have fallen from some trees in my youth!
Yeah, why does the damn branch snap on the upswing instead of when your feet are still pointing down.... always felt like forever before that first breath would come😆
@@mandy-leedilley502 yes. yes it does. didn't really wanna relive that trauma but, oh well!😂
“Thou shall get distracted by bullshit every goddamn time”, might as well be the company motto for Bethesda games! And most other massive scale RPG’s.🤣🤣🤣
"you ever try to pull food out of a snake while it's eating?"
"no"
"Good you shouldn't"
Lmao spidey that was great
I think Maximus went with that angle because he desperately wants to become a knight and prove himself to the Brotherhood of steel. Yes he should have just told them what happened, but he would probably also look more sus considering they were already sus about him hiding a razor blade in his friends boot.
Yeah, and it's not like they would just tell him to get in the armor and continue the mission, they would probably send another knight or just tell him to get back. Also, taking the armor to town would draw even more attention to it, not to mention it clearly isn't easy to transport.
I mean, I know Maximus is a dummy, but I feel like some people are so eager to dunk on shit that they don't really try to think about why characters do what do sometimes.
They hang him, when he tell the truth. The Knight is dead and the Squire is alive= the squire failed to protect him with his live. The situation Matters not. Thaddeus know this. He was surprised that He was not sacreficed first.
This show shot in a lot of live locations.
Yeah they hate on the volume sets but if your confusing volume for real sets is there any point in hating. Its like people who hate cgi in anime and call it out in shots that are hand drawn. :P
Shame governments are idiots otherwise we could’ve had shots of Chernobyl
9:01 Just to give you guys a heads up: Gulpers do appear in the games, more specifically the Far Harbor DLC of Fallout 4.
They are heavily based on axolotl, a species of salamander.
They're also really present in 76
In the Fallout Universe Communist China invaded Alaska(Hence why the hate for Communists) for its oil reserves due to the shortage of resources around the World.
The European Nations invaded the Middle East for their oil Reserves thus the Resource Wars.
Also the US had invaded and conquered Mexico and Canada for their resources and the US invaded China in order to end the War.
Technically the US annexed Canada rather than invaded. Canada let their military pass through to reach Alaska and the US just left some of their military in Canada and said "this is ours now"
@@IXSICNESS Thanks. I did read about it but not fully. My bad.
Man this Universe was FU before the bombs dropped.
Don't need a game to hate commies. They are the people trying to destroy the country currently.
But also, FUCK COMMUNISM
In their universe, they Red Scare never went away and they always hated communism. My Fallout lore is a bit rusty but think the formation of the US Commonwealth in 1969 was an effort to consolidate power so it was easier to fight Communism from within.
The crazy thing is that it probably isn’t that Walton Goggins character is based off vault tec but that vault tec based everything on his celebrity character. Not only is he haunted by his past actor self but everything he became after photo shoots with vault tec. They (through his wife) took everything about him and turned it into an ad for their “product”. It’s like if John Wayne wore blue and smiled and Wal Mart said “we are based off John Wayne”. And then multiplied it by a thousand nukes. He (Walton Goggins) is then stuck for 200+ years of he did in the past.
The big golf bag is in 76, it's also a nod to making a companion carry your burdens.
I never made that connection lol. This show has honestly blown away all my expectations!!!
Not really, Fallout draws from real history here actually. Squires that carried the supplies of Knights was actually something that happened in real life.
As far as i know as a level 400 76 Player, the golf bag that's in the show was added after the show, along with a brotherhood light companion. :)
@@moodswinggaming2972 Pretty sure I made my companion in Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas carry all my stuff.
@@othniel2005 * slaps head of dogmeat * this bad boy can fit so much fucking guns in it
The ghoul does have a name.
Cooper Howard.
The actors name is Walton Goggins.
Also Cooper didn’t give Lucy his water is bc it’s full of radiation, he wanted her to actively make the decision herself so she could see what she did TO HERSELF.
👍
If only every RPG had a squire who was sworn to carry your burdens.
Buck Owens act naturally fits sooooooo well
"If every RPG had a squire that lugged your sh** around..."
Bethesda Studios
10:39 lol Bethesda games do have “squires” to carry all your useless stuff. They call them companions 😂
The majority of RPGs have the thing he said "if RPGs had this it'd be a dream". Fallout, Skyrim, Baldur's Gate, The Witcher (kind of, horse saddles that make your carry size go up is damn near the same thing), etc. Any RPG with a companion character 100% has them there to be a mule.
Calling it right now, Honest Trailers is using "Walton Ghoulgins"
I love they started the first episode saying he's at the birthday party because of "alimony". Gives us an unspecified time the flashbacks happen
The broken water chip is my favorite easter egg. Getting a new water chip was the main questline in the very first Fallout and the reason why the Vault dweller had to leave his vault
Gulpers are mutated salamanders that were introduced in the Far Harbor DLC in Fallout 4
The amount of screaming from Marketa this episode is insane! LOL
insanely annoying
BRUH!
@@anais6654 Like a harpy in a blender.
32:07 Just my 5 Cents: Max had no other choice than to lie. He sweared on his Lord. A squire was the property of the knight and his most inportant duty is to protect his knight with his live.
If the knight is dead and the squire is alive, there is no excuse. This means the squire fu* ed up. The Brotherhood would hang him,no matter how the situation was.
Titus seem to be dump blaming the Squire, but he just acted according to the Brotherhood mindset. It is a fact for him, that a Squire is nothing and only for his service. He expected a Thaddeus.Fully devoted and ready to face his own death with honour, when he failed. Thaddeus was surprised, that the knight do not sacrafice him first and just order a new one
Yeah vault tech is totally wholesome the vaults worked perfectly. people just didn't like the rich I guess?
19:33 you can't judge Suraj, this is your reaction to any Lost refrence lmao
I'm very impressed that Ella Purnell (Lucy) chose to do the bait in the water scene herself, rather than use a stunt double. Not only is she incredibly beautiful, but she's also incredibly talented!
"we're Vault-Tec" is maybe not the association you want to shoot for
It would be such a fallout mission to be tasked with killing an abomination... then the second it attacks the mission brief updates to "1. kill abomination. 2. Protect Squire. (optional)"
the Gulper from this episode is very different from the Gulper from the Fallout games
Yes but much, much scarier ! Love the Uber Axolotl design.
@@Nebuloid1 yep, same here
It looks pretty close to a scorched gulper, but much more humanoid.
@@CyanideGirl94 IKR! that's what I said too
I think it's similar to Supermutants. Different groups have different origins and characteristics but still share the same name.
“you ever try to pull food out of a snake? no one does, you shouldn’t.”
😂 🤣
spidey in the spideyman shoes makes my brain happy
If Maximus doesn't have the enclave scientist then the Brotherhood will execute him or torture him until he's dead. So telling any part of the truth is a bad idea, as they'd send someone to kill him. Probably as fast as they sent a new squire.
Far Harbor DLC is the best part of Fallout 4. The Anglers, Fog Crawlers and Gulpers were a crazy changeup
It's so weird that people hated cyber punk then liked the cartoon and had a new love for the game come dlc and patches, hated no man's sky and patches later love it and hated starfield for not being like it, then they hated fallout 4 at release and 76 now millions are playing it after the show. Like if all the haters get drowned out for last of us season 2, ill flip and realize people are negative by default and dont notice some of the good in a product lol. Fallout 4 seems to always have been decent and people trashed on it at release.
@@nichescenes The small minority sadly is the loudest.
@@VVoude yeah, not saying these games at release werent flawed, but people act like AAA games are either 10/10 or trash. Their likely like 7/10 or so
SLAPPED THAT BOY WITH THA TOILET SEAT!!!
"Why and how?" - Micky out here asking the pertinent questions.
It's great how we see how he started as the kind of guy who didn't like to kill even in a movie; really shows how he changed.
In Fallout 3 and New Vegas, you do get a companion and a Dogmeat who travel with you and carry some of your shit.
the intro 😂 i had to do a double take, haha
hello from Moldova!
"You ever pull food out of a snake?"
"NO!!!"
"Nobody does, you shouldn't do it"
had me fking dying, love the normies
“They even made it in your color”
Why is every channel i’ve seen who reacts to this show surprised when he leaves his Power Armor there. He obviously needed a part repaired, that’s why he had to leave it and hit up a repair shop in Filly.
It seemed like the part was just some kind of targeting sensor or something, though. Something to do with the equilibrium of the suit, maybe? But yeah, most reactors don't think things through in the slightest, they're mostly pretty daft. I will say, though, it's pretty dumb of Max to leave the armor with the fusion core still installed because even if they couldn't use the armor due to the part being gone -- they could definitely steal the important part that makes the armor more than a massive paperweight.
OMG your discussion at the end about how you would kill the prisonners...
Thank you Fallout, I now know what a prolapsed stomach looks like.
The new age Pink Sock.
I didnt come up with this, obviously, but I had to rewatch with this idea. Maximus is a representation of the Idiot Savant perk. Its not a spoiler or anything to say that. You have a few examples of it by episode 3. I didnt pick up on that until I saw someone mention it. My brain was like.... ".....of course" in slow motion. I wish i picked up on that sooner. When i watched it back, it made Maximus way less annoying. I tend to get irritated with those kinds of characters that like, Forrest Gump their way to success, but they did it on purpose to represent the game, rather than arbitrarily, and that makes it way better for me.
The Far Harbor dlc with gulpers was terrifying. One of the scariest creatures in game on look sound and how aggressive they are is the mirelurks. And far harbor animals are like at base level as creepy but many get worse. All in a creepy as swamp region called far harbor.
8:08right before u said bambi i thought the same thing lmaoo haha
In a DLC for Fallout New Vegas, you wake up with your brain missing and you have to go find it. That whole DLC is a fun love letter to 50's B-movie sci-fi. There were some really good jokes and humor.
Marketa’s reaction to the leeches was visceral I had to rewatch it like 5 times 😂
Marketa's mind's absolute refusal to be here for any of this is an absolute vibe and I am just here to experience that.
I love how everyones always expecting Thaddeus to die at any moment lol
Bro all episodes of fallout are released at a time to binge, I don’t understand why aren’t you reacting for all episodes instantly.
All reactions are available on Patreon to binge now! Patreon.com/thenormies
The squire carrying the extra large bag is a joke about being over-encumbered in the game.
Suraj looking like a blood rider
Google a loggerhead turtles mouth and the inspiration for the gulpers mouth will make sense. I've wondered if the water in the ghouls canteen wasn't irradiated to a fatal degree and he just poured it out so he wouldn't have to keep hearing Lucy beg for water.
🤣 I didn't know you shouldn't pull food out of a snake.
just putting it out there: the Gulper is a mutant axolotl, the developing stage of a striped salamander.
those little pink critters from minecraft that everyone was crazy about?... *this*
how's that for nightmare fuel?
When you fish with your friends in fallout ... you REALLY fish with your friends...
😁👍
The "rehabilitation" side plot has got to be mocking some of the people you'll meet online. The "abolish prisons, murderers should go free" ones.
Fallout 3 - Lucy
Fallout New Vegas - The Ghoul
Fallout 4 - Maximus
They each vaguely mirror the main character from each installment, seems to me. 😊
14:22 Considering all we find out about the Vault and the people in charge, it makes sense Surj agrees with rehabilitation 😂
14:22 is from his earlier work The Dark Knight
I think the chip is a super computer. Which is how he knew lucy specifically.
BAIT CAR REFERENCE
10:35 my guy should play Dragons Dogma 2
It's not just the rich in vaults. There are different vaults. And surface survivors believe it was only for the rich. But many vaults got filled on d day
"I think this little dude has proven he's more worthy of the suit right now" I think you'll find it a trend in this series that Maximus is astonishingly inept at everything he does and everyone who does anything around him end up highlighting how dumb he is by comparison. He has no idea how to be a knight and immediately his new "squire" is better at being a squire than he ever was, on top of which we have the fact that Maximus keeps making ridiculous dumb decision after ridiculous dumb decision.
Why are these releasing SO SLOWLY!?
He injected his head w chip 1st episode, less talk more pay attention
STICK IT WHERE CHRIS I NEED TO KNOW
This is what happens when you watch a show with people who are familiar with it - they spoil everything.
Haha who called him Walton Ghoulgins? :D
15:08 after finishing the show, you know what she's implying here, given that she's also from Vault 31. His father will straight up execute these "surface dwellers".
1x4 upload after 100 year
Micky, Fallout 76 is making a big comeback right now and apparently it's pretty decent these days, you and Suraj should give it a try.
Suraj's communism speech had me hype ngl
Fuck the commies
The men in this group are so vault-tec😂
Gulper's are in fallout 4 Far Harbor DLC but they are not as a big as these ones are. West Coast got giga gulpers lol
Gulpers are absolutely a thing in Fallout 76.
Yeah i have no idea why Maximus said his squire died. Why not just say "titus fell in battle, he ran ahead and was killed suddenly by a Bear, awaiting further instructions"
10:30 a lot of Bethesda rpg companions end up getting used just like that ...at least with me
DD2 does it well
Why would you leave the armor after barely getting it back!?
anyone know what the camera in the show chris has is named?

If yall thought the salamander with fingers was weird, yall gonna flip when chainsawman season 3 comes out XD. Nightmare fuel in that story. Also later this season of fallout.
Why are you all the glasses on the table right at the edge?
lmaooo got the same belvita i jus grabbed for later the cranberry orange????? hahahah
Is it just me or is Maximus failing upwards? :D
Easily the best show of 2024
What is a companion in Fallout if not a glorified caddy? 😂
Max is not the sharpest tool in the shed
I can't wait till u find out why the Gulper has fingers in its mouth 😬😅
15L bag? My 100L backpack would fit in that sucker several times over. 1500L maybe
I've seen a few reactors say Max is a luck build. I contend the man built END.
Idiot Savant perk.
My favorite perk in the show is Thaddues in episode 7 😂😂😂
What shoes are spidey wearing anyone know??
They are my Jordan 3s, customized by a friend of mine
19:21 it’s that one look that made me think Barb is a top executive, she’s THEIR boss. She gave them a lil stink eye for them to come up with something quick to reassure her husband 😅
